3.5 rounded up to 4 stars from me.

I LOVE that Kol is willing and eager to push boundaries, and refuses to be formulaic or predictable (hehe)...but to be perfectly honest, this one just didn't do it for me. It felt rushed, it was way too short, it didn't flow smoothly, the ending was far too abrupt and the usual twist in the story somehow didn't appear...unless the twist was that cold and emotionless Alex chose bratty and boorish William?? I can see where the story could go if a little more time was spent on it definitely, and I understand that Kol is putting together a longer length story. I certainly didn't have a problem with the brocest...I read Lynn Kelling stories how could I?? It certainly won't stop me reading his work, everyone's allowed a blip or two...even Amy Lane doesn't get 5 stars every time from me!!

Thank you my lovely Kol for the ARC!! Smooch.

NO NO NO, I didn't give up on Kol Anderson.
I still hope I'll come across something that I could like as much as a lot of other readers.

I'm very close, very very close to it...

but until now I've missed always this TINY something,
something that can let me to dive COMPLETELY into his world of a dark erotica.

No it is not taboos that prevent me from it...
It is the writing. But every time I see the new 4-5 stars reviews I think...WELL, maybe now?

Maybe I should give him another chance?

A review by The Blogger Girls.

Nobody does dark, twisted, depraved short stories, quite like Kol. He has the ability to pack punches in the fewest pages, and I look forward to each and every one of them.

Here, William comes across as the big jerkoff, keeping everyone at a distance. But, it turns out that brother, Alex, takes the prize after all. The two have been carrying on a sexual relationship since their teens. All goes well until Alex decides to step up to the plate, marry and start a family, leaving William hanging in the breeze.

William is a bit messed in the head, more than the initial messed in the head he must be to think the two could have an actual relationship. Alex’s rejection throws him for a big loop, and he simply doesn’t know how to deal with the pain. Add to that, he has some medical issues, and he is not in a good place.

This is an extremely fast read, and I was sucked in from the first page, which is nothing new. It rolls right along, up until the end, when I started grumbling about wanting more. It ends rather abruptly with thoughts of the guys skipping off into the sunset, but I really would have liked to have seen a bit more leading up to that. Were they able to follow through? What about the family? The wife? The baby?

This has excellent story weaving that I’ve come to expect from Kol, though I was thinking there would be a darker twist wrenching me in the end. Perhaps I’ve been conditioned to expect that or I’m becoming desensitized to the darkness. I’m not sure. But, I do know that no Kol story would be complete with some cursing and loving name calling, so I’ll give this four solid grumble worthy stars.

Once again I am just dumbfounded by Mr. Anderson!! I need to say right from the beginning that this book is short and breathtaking! I was on edge from the first page and completely hooked. As with all of Kol's other books, you just know from the beginning that he is going to take your mind on a roller coaster ride and you will be flying high for days after the ride is over. The Crying Game is no different. (trust me!) While this book does have some very intense issues and will not be for everyone, those willing to take the adventure will not have any remorse.

You can't go into many details in this book without just giving the entire story away. So I won't spoil it for you. I can tell you that as always the sex scenes will leave you melting and fanning yourself. You will need to take some deep breaths as the story grows in intensity. As with all of Kol's books you will be left with a million questions and REALLY?? will be the first one you think of. This is what makes this story so amazing and just longing for more. If you are a fan of the dark world give this short read a try. I promise it will not disappoint at all!!

I liked where Kol was going with this story of brotherly love. I really liked William; the emotional and uncertain man who wants nothing more than his brother to love him, broke my heart. I even liked the cold, controlling, manipulative Alex, although I wouldn't have minded seeing him get some comeuppance. However, there was something that felt like this was meant to be more of a story than what I read. There were a couple of things that happened that weren't explained or fleshed out, and I kept wondering about them, minor as they may have been, and the ending felt a bit rushed. Anyone who follows my reviews knows I'm a big fan of Kol Anderson and if in fact there is going to be more of the brothers' story, I would love to see it, especially in light of the surprise ending.

This is a very short very depraved story about two brothers in love. Alex and William have been sexual for a long time and when a woman is thrown in between them William doesn’t handle it well at all.
It’s dark, gritty, and taboo! Shockingly it has an HEA which truly was surprising since I don’t think I’ve read a Kol Anderson book where it actually ended happy lol.
That’s okay though. This very quick 30 minute read is great if you like taboo and dark erotica. Keep an open mind and just go with it. That’s the best advice I can give.

The writing style was a little choppy for my liking and I wished we got a little more detail in the intimacy scenes but overall it was good. It took me about 15 minutes to read this short story so if you want something quick yet thoughtful then you will enjoy it!

On to the next!

A great, twisted short by the Master of Depravity himself, Kol Anderson.

If brotherly love is your thing, this is a must read.

I can't wait for more!

Thanks again Kol!

You’ll have to excuse me, I am a bit stunned. How anyone can pack as much as author Kol Anderson did into less than 50 pages is simply beyond me. The Crying Game is a deliciously sinful journey into the darkest aspect of sibling relationships.

William Davenport is the consummate spoiled brat of a duo of wealthy brothers. He wields his corporate power without regard as to how it will impact others and never looks back. His brother, Alexander, on the other hand, is the perfect foil, being compassionate and pragmatic and seemingly the more likeable of the two.

And there is the first of several twists in the remarkable short story, for I found Alexander to be the more wicked of the two, a veritable wolf in sheep’s clothing. In essence, although it appears he has made a decision that is more sacrifice on behalf of continuing the family name, Alex has essentially tried to have his cake and eat it too. His upcoming nuptials nearly destroy his brother, and what happens at the end of this novel left me agog. William is left alone and utterly defeated in the wake of what he views as Alex’s emotional betrayal. Whether he can survive his brother’s absence hangs in the balance.

Two brothers, passion, hot sex, more story packed into a limited number of pages than I have ever encountered before—what is not to like? Kol Anderson gives us a visceral read that captures our imagination from word one. It is a tight, rapidly evolving chapter out of a stunning relationship that left me a bit shell-shocked by the end. As a reviewer, I suppose top praise of a story would be to highly recommend it and encourage you to read it; as a reader, I know the highest form of praise would be for me to admit that I will now happily go off and purchase more of Kol Anderson’s work. Well, then, let me say this, I highly recommend

Kol Anderson has done it again! This is short and to the point...and hell what a point.

William Davenport runs the family company with his older brother Alexander. Where William barges in and does what he wants without consideration for anyone’s feelings, Alexander tries to have more consideration.

When Alexander decides to tow the family line to keep everyone happy William falls apart. The two brothers are closely tied and suddenly Alexander is gone and William is left alone. The damage it seems is done, William has hit rock bottom and tries to take the easy way out.
Without giving too much away Alexander is forced to come home and there is a huge OMG did that just happen moment.

I love that this author just keeps putting out these stories that leave you flabbergasted. You never get the easy option with a Kol Anderson book.....If you are looking for fluffy you are in the wrong place!!

Abrupt ending, may have been better if it was longer, not a reread, thankfully it was pretty cheap. Maybe time for a reread of the free The Carnalli Complex or Gemini Gemini by Chris Owen

I would like to read more from this author - I did like the quotations between the chapters as anyone who knows how I likez the quotes, (and I actually had the Crying Game soundtrack - loved Anne Dudley's movements that were so good plus all the other songs in it) and it was written well.

If anyone has any rec's please share in my comment sections. Thanks!

It was my first time reading this author and I enjoyed the way Kol Anderson crafted the story. Very nicely written.

I liked the story and the way the whole thing was from William's pov - yet I got a very clear understanding of what was going on with Alex from the beginning. I guess the characters interested me enough that I would have loved it to be longer.

Definitely will read this author again - I've got The Prisoner so I think I'll dive into that next.

Because of the title and the Kol books I've been reading, I was expecting this to be terribly dark. It isn't dark, but it's extremely taboo.

Who doesn't have a little bit of 'this is so wrong' inside them? Now, you can let yours out by reading this story. ;) Ignore societal norms.
Couldn't hurt to play it Alex Davenport style once in a while.

Awesome Dark and Twisty Read

Kol Anderson has a new fan in me. I normally hate books with extensive quotes/song lyrics/poetry, but it worked for The Crying Game. I could see the soundtrack of the Davenport men's lives. I really loved having William's POV as the focal point since even though he's the older brother? He's definitely the one with more emotional investment. Alexander is one cool cucumber of a guy. I almost felt bad for his wife, Sofia.

Almost.

I have zero shame in admitting I wanted the debauchery between the brothers to continue on and Sofia can go fly a kite with her pending bundle of joy.

Kids like kites.

Anderson writes a fast-paced piece. I felt as if I'd dropped into their story and a fire was lit to chase everyone toward an ending. I was really surprised by the ending for that matter. I expected something dark and twisty or tragic. Who knew you could have a HEA in an incest story? Way to go, Kol Anderson! I'm in for the next ride thanks to this one. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes taboo fiction, jealous lovers, and fiction on the fast-and-dirty side.

Emotional journey to accept your true love and soulmate.

This is a story about two brothers in love, Alex and William. They have had sexual relations for a long time, since they were teenagers. Initially William comes across as a jerk when indeed it is his brother Alex who is the jerk! Poor William continuously struggles with his immense love of Alex that leads to physical symptoms. Then Alex decides to marry. This leads to William unable to deal with his pain. Hallelujah, Alex gets his head out of his ass so he and William live HEA.

This little 35 page book manages to drag your heart through a cheese grater. I love it.
William was going through all this without complaining because he didn’t feel like he had any right to complain. Alex looked happy. He seemed like he was okay with all this, so why should William bother him?
You made the right decision, brother.

AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
THEY REALLY DID.🤍

Confusing and choppy

Kol's books are very interesting with the usual taboo theme. This short started with a bang and ended rather abruptly. An epilogue would have been nice.

The only other book by Kol Anderson I've read was "Daddy". Which i loved. It was short but extremely hot and naughty. So I went into this just thinking I would love this book too. Don't get me wrong, it certainly wasn't a bad book. But i just felt like could've gone more places than it did.

I think this story had such potential. Could've went in some really darker directions. But I feel like it stayed fairly tame for the most part. I feel like it needed more of a plot. I knew the story was going to be taboo. And I love my taboo books. But i like seeing a progress or background story on how they ended up that way. This story they pretty much jump into and I just felt like it was out of nowhere.

And then the ending I just felt was wrapped up too fast. Like okay im done let's stick a HEA on there. It just felt too fast. All in all a decent book at best.
