An interior designer commissioned to undertake an erotic redesign of a remote castle becomes caught between a sexy, self-confident riding instructor and the darkly attractive lord of the manor.
Lucinda Carrington wrote four highly respected and popular erotic novels in the classic early period of Black Lace. Titles are: The Master of Shilden, The Ninety Days of Genevieve, A Dangerous Lady and A Dangerous Game.
There is a, often thin, line between ‘fun and relaxing’ and ‘boring, dull and annoying’ for these books and this one came very close to crossing this line, in the negative sense. Too many fantasies, I guess, which made this Black Lace novel very unconvincing. Not that books in this genre are meant to be convincing, of course, but some are just better than others. Odd though in this case, when you consider that Lucinda Carrington has written (far) better erotic books. Maybe it just wasn't her day... :-)
I really liked 'The Ninety Days of Genevieve' so I was thinking I was gonna love this one as well.. bummer :( I thought this one was weird, piece of the story and then a fantasy, another piece of the story again a another fantasy and so on..

(NL-editie) This one was not as good as Genevieves story, but I did like it. The smut was good. The romance came out of the blue at the end, and that’s where this book lost a ★ for me. It was so weird. 0 character development from this MMC through the whole book and BOOM! 💣This story was just OK in its genre.
I had already read this book a few years back. I wanted something hot to read again. And I didn’t remember everything from this book. But this book is different from other adult romances. The leading lady (Elise) is a girl who has some hot (day)dreams. But I liked her. She has this split personality.
The one time she’s the leader and the other time she is a sub. And I loved that about this book. And you can see that she acts totally different with the two different men. And normally I only read books that are about two people falling in love.
But this book isn’t really about that. But even though, I can still relate to Elise. I think that probably every girl would want to have a time like she has. But I wouldn’t want to forever of course. This book was light to read and hot as hell. I really liked it. Unfortunately there isn’t really that much story… I give this book 3 stars and the song is ‘Almost lover’ by A Fine Frenzy.
“Goodbye my almost lover Goodbye my hopeless dream I'm trying not to think about you Can't you just let me be
So long my luckless romance My back is turned on you I should have known you'd bring me heartache Almost lovers always do
We walked along a crowded street You took my hand and danced with me” -A Fine Frenzy
I enjoyed this book. The characters are well developed and the sexual tension is high. The people seem real as does the sex. There are real world problems and real world solutions.
