Midnight Untamed is part of the "Midnight Breed" series. This is book #14.5, and it is a novella that gives you a taste of what the Breed world like! It can definitely be read on it's own; but this is a series that is very worth investing your time into it! This series has always been one of my top five faves in the paranormal genre. Lara Adrian has created such a unique world in which her vampires live, love, and fight.

In this installment, we are given Ettore's ( aka Savage) second chance romance with his long lost love, Bella. When these two meet again after being apart for many years...their connection is still very strong. They waste no time in reconnecting, and both decide they don't want to let each other go. There is an enemy though, and he wants Bella for his own, and if she doesn't go with him, her family will be in danger. Savage decides to help Bella with her enemy, and their journey may be rough along the way; but they are hoping that forever might be something they can have together!

As with most novella's I always wish they were longer! In this case, I would have loved a more in depth story about this couple. Even though it was short though, it still had a great mixture of adventure, love, and sex...so really, I am not complaining!
Up next is another novella, in fact; there are two more novella's before book #15 comes out in this series. ( I do believe book 15 has already come out now!) I am very glad that I have stayed up to date with the Midnight Breed's, they are so worth it!

Breed warrior Ettore Selvaggio or "Savage"
Special ability: Obfuscation, Able to conjure illusions, lifting objects with mental commands, switch on vehicles with psychic orders.
Age: 35 years old

Breed mate Arabella Genova or "Bella"
Special ability: Reading the future when she stares into any standing pool of liquid
Occupation: None
Mark place: Back of left shoulder

Settings: Italy (Rome area, Potenza, Matera)

A love story stopped abruptly, while it was still blooming 10 years ago. Young Ettore fell in love with his best friend little innocent sister Bella. When her parents found out, they advised Ettore to leave and never come back. He was not good enough for their daughter. Heartbroken Bella has never found what happened to her lover.

Nowadays a new dangerous powerful narcotic called Red Dragon has hit the streets. Crimson, the drug which was turning Breeds to Rogues, had been totally destroyed by the Order. Vito Massioni is the number one dealer of Red Dragon and Savage and Trygg are out to get him.

Savage cannot believe his own eyes when he sees that the 28 years old now Bella is part of Massioni’s household.

It is time for some explanations to be given. From both sides. For all these wasted years.

I really enjoyed the novella. It is on par with the rest of the “One Thousand and One Dark Nights” novels and it also has the quality of an old romance book. The settings are magnificent (A road trip in Italy, a village, a palatial villa, a vineyard, an ancient limestone cave).

Moreover, another interesting Breed and another Breedmate and her son are joining the series:
Chiara is a young widow, Bella’s relative.
Scythe is a strange guy, a tortured Breed who will help Savage and Bella (and I think he is craving to tell his own story and have his own book).

This rather short story follows Breed Warrior, Ettore ‘Savage’ Selvaggio and Arabella ‘Bella’ Genova, a Breedmate, who had been in love many years ago but Ettore had left Bella suddenly without giving her any reason for his betrayal.

They meet up again during one of his missions and rekindle their love again.
I found this story a bit too cliché for my tastes..........you never stopped loving someone, you meet up again and boom....it's deep love again!!!! Blah Blah!! I felt as if I had read some story like this one before!!

Maybe it this had been a full length book, I might have got into it...but everything happens...like....one, two, three!!!!

I didn't hate it...but it was somewhat just okay.....so, let me go off and do something like this.........

Too cliché.
You meet someone after a long long time and there's this re-instalust and re-instalove happening. You run for your life, but your body wants "things"... Come on!

If the book was a lengthy one , not just a short novella, maybe it would have worked.

This was nothing new. I've seen this scenario many times.

4 Savage Stars!!

Ettore "Savage" Selveggio is a Breed Warrior with the Rome Order who's on a mission to take down the head of organization controlled by Opus in Italy.

Just when he's about to execute his plan he spots a young women among the enemy who is achingly familiar. A women he walked away from 10 years earlier, a women who still owns his heart. Naturally plans change and we are treated to another great Midnight Breed fight against the enemy and hot breed mating!!

 photo PicsArt_1476459888331_zpscjugcqlo.jpg

We are again introduced to a new character, this time it's Trygg's damaged, silent, and deadly brother Scythe. All I can say is I need more of him !! I'm hoping and praying we'll see more of him in the future!! It's his appearance that upped my rating on this too short novella.

All-in-all Lara Adrian once again does not disappoint. Another great addition to the Midnight Breed series and a MUST read for Breed fans!!

With the help of Vito Massioni Opus Nostrum have been spreading their reach out across Europe and they're now starting to import larger quantities of the dangerous new drug, Red Dragon. Just one hit of the drug turns members of the Breed into blood-addicted Rogues who are completely unable to control their appetites and we've all seen how that usually ends in a very public bloodbath. Lazaro Archer's team has been tasked with eliminating Massioni and the key members of his gang and Ettore "Savage" Selvaggio is on a solo mission to blow up his mansion in the middle of a large gang meeting.

Savage is all set to complete his task when he spots a familiar face inside the building, a blast from the past and the one woman he's never quite been able to get over. He has no idea how Arabella could be involved with Massioni but there's no way he's going to let her get hurt, even if it means going against the order and failing at his mission. Arabella had her heart broken when Savage left her ten years ago, she never understood why he walked away and her life has gone downhill fast since he did thanks to her gambolling addict brother. She's in an impossible situation and hasn't been able to find a way out but perhaps with Savage's help she might be able to fight her way to freedom.

I love the Midnight Breed novellas, obviously the romances move much faster than in the full length books but they're just perfect for when you're in the mood for a fast, fun read that you can finish in one sitting. Lara Adrian always does a brilliant job of making the romances believable even when she's working to a relatively small page count and Midnight Untamed is no exception. I love second chance romances and getting to know about Savage and Arabella's background helps to make the speed they reconnect at much more believable. They have unfinished business and it's very quickly obvious that the attraction the felt 10 years ago has only grown stronger while they were apart.

I liked that the story continued the Opus Nostrum story line from the main books in the series, it meant we got a nice amount of action without needing too much new background information. I'm also enjoying getting to see more of the Rome based members of the order and hope we're going to get a story about Trygg soon. What I REALLY want is more about Scythe though, his character is introduced here and I can't wait to learn more about what happened to him in the past and meet the rest of his brothers!

Kitty's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Lara Adrian comes through again. It can be a novel, a novella … the alphabet. Whatever she writes, it’s worth the read. The Breed series was one of the first Paranormal Romance series that I read when I came back to reading. I love and look forward to every book that she pens. Midnight Untamed was short and sweet but it gave me everything that I have come to adore about this series.

Savage was pure Breed and Arabella was the perfect Breedmate for him. A member of the Order and a woman sold to a notorious drug lord. The past meets the present and the past wins. As Savage learns what the one woman he has loved has endured, he knows he needs to protect her. Bella never stopped loving her Ettore and knows, even though he may have just destroyed everything that she tried to save, he will do exactly as he says and will come through for her in the end.

The perfect story of love and trust and a bond that could not be broken. Lara Adrian started this story off on a high note and ended it on an even higher one. She did not give us any down time. She moved the story and made sure that there wasn’t a time that we were sitting and waiting for something to happen. Then, she gives us the Breed HEA that we crave. I couldn’t stop reading and was disappointed when it was over. But, hints as to who and what may be next has me hoping that I am right.

Although I did like this novella it moves from hate to love really fast. Many years ago our heroine experienced her first love only to have her heart crushed when he ghosted her. Now she is years older and her gift is being used by a Bad Guy. Our hero rushes in to stop the Bad Guy and finds her. Luckily he didn't blow the house up.
Now she is being chased by the Bad Guy, who lived BTW and our hero wants to light the fuse of lost love. (OK I'll stop with the metaphors...after this) This book is a BLAST! heeheehee.

In this new Midnight Breed novella, Lara Adrian thrills and excites with Savage and Arabella. It’s not a surprise that Adrian hits this out right out of the park. MIDNIGHT UNTAMED maybe be shorter than the other Midnight Breed books, but it is still packed with plenty of action and romance.

I’m a big fan of the way Adrian writes her books. There’s no stalling, no waiting time before the story takes off. Savage and Arabella’s story instantly gripped me and I took a particular liking to Savage’s character. I mean, can you say HOT!? Even his name is enough to intrigue me. When Savage is on a job and he recognizes a familiar face, he doesn’t blow it up like he is meant to. Instead, he tries to save Arabella from the bad people that have her.

Because she has a special ability, people are hoping to extort that and that makes her powerful. But now, she has become a slave, a piece of property that many want. Savage and Arabella have a past, which is what I think helps this book create a fuller story. If they had just met, I don’t think it would’ve have the same impact. The reason why Arabella is in the hands of the bad guy in the first place is a little cliché and not that unique, but it’s easy to overlook because of Adrian’s expert writing style. There’s no question that this book is well-written. Every words is necessary as is every scene. I can’t think of another author who writes as consistently well as Lara Adrian.

Midnight Untamed (Midnight Breed #14.5/1001 Dark Nights #47) by Lara Adrian Lara Adrian wrote another an exciting new tale in the Midnight Breed series, MIDNIGHT UNTAMED.  Breed warrior Ettore Selvaggio (Savage) finds the breedmate that stole his heart ten years prior, Arabella Genova (Bella) while on a mission outside of Rome.  She is being held by criminal, Vito Massioni, a distributor of the lethal drug, Red Dragon.  This PNR is suitable for adult audiences.

I like that Savage and Bella were given the opportunity at a second chance.  I felt bad for Bella, being forsaken by her brother and father.  Both Bella and Savage have intriguing powers.  I can see Bella’s scrying being useful to the Order in future books.  Both characters are strong and have great chemistry.

Scythe is a fascinating character.  I wouldn’t mind seeing a future book with him and Bella’s sister-in-law, Chiara and nephew, Pietro.  It seems like Scythe has an interesting story to tell.

At 120 pages, this novella is a quick read.  It was full of action from beginning to end.  I like that the plot continued with the Red Dragon distribution/epidemic from previous stories.  The ending was thrilling and well-resolved.  MIDNIGHT UNTAMED is a great addition to the Midnight Breed series.

If I hadn't have read all previous books in the series, I might have liked it more. But, I was soooo bored! Nothing new, nothing exciting. Just the usual lightning-fast non-existent-romance sexy novella with a slight touch of action. Reccomended maybe as a short break from other books.

There is something so very enjoyable about Lara Adrian's book. Even when I get behind I can just jump in and enjoy them.

And since I'm behind I really have been enjoying these novella. It's a way for me to keep in touch with the series and not feel to lost. They are also a great way to see if you'll like the authors writing. Which I'm pretty sure you will.

Midnight Untamed is really a sweet love story along with the death and mayhem. I really loved Savage and Arabella story. Since this is a second chance romance right away you get why they get together so quickly.

They've always loved each other...how sweet is that.

I was glad that the author didn't use half the short novella explaining their past or having one of them hate the other because of it. You are told right away what happened and they move one. A plus with short stories.

You'll really enjoy Midnight Untamed and you'll also want to know more about Scythe. Kinda hot!!! That's all I'm saying. Read the story to find out who he is...hot!!!

I feel like Adrian missed the mark with this one. I didn't hate it but I gave it a low rating because there really is no story here.

Savage is a Breed warrior stationed in Rome. He aborts a mission when he realizes Arabella, a breedmate former lover, is about to be collateral damage. He gets her and her family to safety, they become mates, he finishes his mission. Boom. I just saved you an hour.

I know it's a novella but Adrian can knock out brilliant novellas so I hold her to a higher standard and there's no excuse for this feeling so dull or rushed.

I'm still a fan but Midnight Untamed was disappointing.

Ettore Selvaggio//Savage a Breed Male Warrior has been sent by The Order Leader Lucas Thorne to bomb and take out a notorious Drug Lord and his Lieutenants. He is also a member of Opus Nostrum. Just before Savage hits the detonator switch he sees his childhood friend Arabella Genova/Bella a Breedmate that he once love but abandon. Her Breedmate gift is precognition!!

The story was interesting and very fast paced. Pretty hot and sensual too. Its just so overpriced for a novella this short. But I did enjoy the story and if you don't mind paying for overpriced stories then I recommend it. But if you can wait awhile for the price to lower that would be you best bet!!

Ugh, I just wished that I got more from this.

Midnight Untamed was good but I felt like it was missing something. In it, you will meet Savage and Bella were okay. Not going to lie, the smut was good between them and you could tell that they had chemistry. BUT I honestly felt like things were rushed between them. Or maybe just in the story itself. I don't know.. I need coffee or something.

midnight-untamed-tour-banner

Midnight Untamed is a novella in the Midnight Breed world. Lara Adrian is able to pack so much into such a short amount of space. Despite only being a novella, you are left feeling complete and satisfied. Each novella features groups of the Order all over the world. The characters and stories normally do not have any impact on the overall arc of the Midnight Breed series, but are SO much fun to get an inkling of what the rest of the the Order is up to.

In Midnight Untamed we are in Rome. Savage is on the job and gets a huge surprise just as he is about to complete his mission. He totally abandons his post and orders to save the woman he thought he had lost before she becomes a casualty. Savage has never disobeyed orders before, but to get Arabella away from the situation she is in he doesn't even hesitate. He doesn't even know if she is there willingly!

We still have enemies to defeat and Savage DID leave the job without securing the success. Bella and Savage race to save Bella's family and it always makes me wonder, where are the cops? If I were driving one of these expensive cars at top speed, I know I would get caught! But, it does add to the adrenaline and anticipation of the story. Do they have speed limits over there?

The romance in Midnight Untamed cannot truly be called "insta-love". The characters have known each other for years, have always loved each other. Now that the truth of why they separated so many years ago is out in the open, they are free to get back to where they started. I honestly thought the reason the two separated was kind of weak. I mean, he didn't even try, but he suffered with all the feelings of loss all these years?

However, their bonding had me almost in tears. So many of these stories have the alpha male doing the "Mine" thing during these hot rituals. Savage though, brought the word "love" into the situation, and that got me.

midnight-untamed-tour-teaser-2

Another thing that I thought made Savage different was that he didn't do the thing where the male alpha takes over the situation like the woman was weak. He trusts what he feels Bella sending down the mate bond and waits to act. I think Savage was more in touch with his feelings. He is an alpha male, don't get me wrong, but he also is aware of what he feels. I really loved him.

midnight-untamed-tour-teaser-1

Midnight Untamed was a fast-paced, adrenaline filled ride. We are even left with a little hint of something, which I will be looking out for. Right now, let's have a taste of how perfect Savage and Bella are!

Excerpt of Midnight Untamed

Ettore seemed to feel the same awareness that she did. The heat radiating from him was palpable, his touch at the small of her back light, yet searing. She wanted to feel his hands on her everywhere, not just in comfort or reassurance, but in passion.

He cursed as his eyes met hers, his hazel irises dark but glittering with flecks of amber. “For God’s sake, don’t look at me like that, sweetheart. I’m hanging by a thread here.”

“I am too.” She couldn’t resist reaching up to him, letting her hands skim the firm muscles of his chest. “I’ve been hanging by a thread since you showed up at our vineyard with my brother all those years ago, Ettore.”

His heart was thundering. His pulse slammed against her palm, hammering like a drum. He searched her gaze for a long moment, his breath rolling in deep, panting gusts.

The curse that boiled out of him was sharp, hissed between his teeth and fangs. “I wasn’t expecting any of this. My first duty is to the Order. I have a mission to carry out. Until I’m certain I’ve completed it, I shouldn’t be thinking about anything else. Not even you. Hell, especially not you.”

“Of course. I understand.” She glanced away, weathering a sting she hadn’t seen coming. “Ettore, I didn’t mean to suggest—”

He took her hand and hauled her against him, silencing her with a kiss. When he drew back from her lips, his gaze had gone molten. “I have no right to be thinking about anything but my duty to the Order. That’s what I keep telling myself, Arabella. But then I look at you and none of those other things matter.”

She swallowed, watching the fire dance in his eyes. His pupils were narrowed to thin black slits, and his fangs surged even larger behind his parted lips. The sight of his transformation sped her pulse, while at her hip, the hard steel of his arousal sent a current of hot need licking through her senses and straight into her core.

“I walked away once,” he snarled. “God help us both, I don’t think I can ever do it again.”

Years ago I read a couple of books by Lara Adrian and I thought they were alright so I decided to try this since it was a novella, and the novella and the audible were both free. However, I was reminded as to why I only read a couple of her books; she writes waaaay to much sex. Not too many sex scenes but only one sex scene with pages and pages and pages of it. After about 10 or 12 pages you have to start skimming just to get back to the story.

And it was a good story. Savage/Ettore was sent to a drug dealers house to blow Massioni and his lieutenants to smithereens when he sees his one-time girlfriend in the house. I guess you all know he had to sneak in to rescue her. And their love story began. (They loved each other 10 years before but he went away without telling her.)

I mentioned the sex already and the F-bomb was used 22 times.

As to the narration: Hillary Huber was just alright for me. Her Italian accents weren’t all that great, but her pronunciations of Italian were good. And her male voices weren’t that great, they needed to be a little bit deeper. And she read with no emotion at all. She wasn’t horrible but I wouldn’t go out of my way to find books she narrates.

Midnight Untamed
3 Stars

Once again the shorter novella format does not do justice to either the romance or the action.

While Ettore and Bella's second chances romance has a strong foundation and their backstory is presented well, the rapid progression of their current relationship feels forced. Bella forgives Savage almost immediately both for his past behavior and for his placing her in danger. Moreover, Savage's womanizing ways are glossed over (they get a really short mention) and the reader is just expected to accept that Bella has always been his one and only...

The suspense plot has real potential with a truly malevolent villain. While there are sufficient details to establish his cruelty and viciousness, the climax and resolution are underdeveloped and rushed.

It is unfortunate that the stories of the Rome contingent of Breed warriors are being relegated to these 1001 Nights novellas rather than receiving full-length novels. These characters are compelling enough to have their own detailed stories and there are definite developments in the ongoing story arc that need attention.

A short, sweet romance with all of the Breed action and intensity that I love about this series.

3.5 stars!

Lara Adrian takes us back to Italy with this novella, where we catch up with Ettore ‘Savage’ Selvaggio, a Breed warrior who works for the Order in Rome alongside Lazaro Archer. Respected as the ruthless killer that he is, Ettore is sent on a mission to take out the key player in the distribution of the deadly drug, Red Dragon, but just as he is set to blow his target sky high, he spots the only woman he has ever loved behind enemy lines.

Bella Genova is a breedmate, and the younger sister of Ettore’s best friend from his pre-Order days. Their love was only beginning to blossom when they were cruelly torn apart, but in the ten years since they have seen each other none of that emotion has dimmed and she is equally as stunned as Ettore when he reappears in her life and, despite her protests, he quickly whisks her away.

There are misunderstandings to be cleared up and secrets to be revealed, but for the most part this is a chemistry-filled, super-functional reconnection of soul mates, and it’s a deliciously sexy and swoony second-chance at love for Ettore and Bella.

“I walked away once,” he snarled. “God help us both, I don’t think I can ever do it again.”

But with a vicious madman after them and Bella’s family at risk, the danger isn’t over yet and there is some action and excitement before they can claim their HEA.

I really enjoyed this story. The romance is gorgeous, and it’s fast paced and intense from the very beginning - but given the history between the characters, and the fact that this is a novella and therefore needs to move quickly, I was totally fine with it.

This book doesn’t seem to have much impact on the overall Midnight Breed story arc, but there’s a great introduction to Scythe and Chiara who are the hero and heroine of the next book, and I really like set up for their story.

A great addition to the series, and as always I’m looking forward to continuing on.

3.5 stars.

Quick and sexy vamp read that'll make you wish for your own fast Italian car to travel around the country in.

Ettore Selvaggio, aka Savage, is on a mission to take down the man responsible for a drug that turns otherwise law-abiding Breed vampires into blood-obsessed and murderous Rogues. An unexpected sighting of his former lover Arabella Genova has Savage hesitating to pull the trigger and sending both of them into a tailspin of memories, desire and danger. With a madman bent on punishing Bella, the duo will have to run fast and far before they can be free.

MIDNIGHT UNTAMED is a novella in the Midnight Breed series, and also a stand-alone addition to the innovative and fun 1001 Dark Nights series featuring sensual and erotic stories by a variety of popular authors inspired by the classic The Arabian Nights tale.

As someone who doesn't typically read paranormal books, I find that the Midnight Breed series stories I've read are fast-paced, sexy and well written, not to mention interesting. The stories feature different factions of vampires and their sagas along with love stories that are as good as any non-vamp erotic romance book I've read. The connection and chemistry between Savage and Bella was terrific, and Ms. Adrien did a fabulous job making their 10 years apart feel like a palpable thing. I always tell myself I need to get more of the stories in this series because I really do dig these books and Ms. Adrien's style. So many books, so little time!

Bottom Line: No OM/OW or sharing; no condom use (but they're almost indestructible vampires, so probably not super important); no BDSM, a little kinky blood sucking; violence/murder.

Midnight untamed is the first book I had the chance to read in the Midnight Breed series. This book is listed as the 14.5th book in the series, but I didn't have a problem getting into the story. It worked very well as a stand alone novel and it didn't spoil anything from the other books, so I will be able to read the rest of the series without knowing something vital. I hope Chiara will get her own story hopefully with Scythe.

Midnight untamed is a short second chance story. Everything is happening at a fats pace and I was okay with that. I liked the characters and the chemistry they had. I might not know about the other books, but this one is a very good book and I hope the others are even better. I devoured the book and I plan to read the next book as soon as I can get my hands on it.

This is the first story of Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series I've read since the big time jump and I have to say I wasn't impressed- at least not by this short story.

While I was glad this novella could be read as a stand-alone and was a really quick read, I guess I would have liked the characters a bit more if I had read a previous book to get a more in-depth feeling for at least Ettore.

The relationship development between Ettore and Bella was fast and while they know each other from when they were younger, it still had this insta-love/lust feeling to it.

The overall story with Massioni was semi-interesting, but overall I was disappointed by Midnight Untamed.
