D-cide: Pup Friction

D-cide stories present modern day tales of youngsters living in the fictional town of Southside. Meet all the different characters as their lives intertwine and they find themselves having to make decisions - rightly or wrongly. The stories focus on the reader using their Emotional Literacy skills as part of the Social, Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) programme taught in schools across the UK. SEAL encompasses 5 key Managing Feelings Motivation Social Skills Self Awareness Empathy These stories have been written to provoke discussion with the readers as well as promoting positive social and emotional skills. As the chapters evolve outcomes turn murky for some characters and things take a sinister turn… What would you do???

Sharon White is the author of several books of nonfiction, poetry, and fiction, including Vanished Gardens: Finding Nature in Philadelphia, winner of the AWP award in creative nonfiction. Her first novel, Minato Sketches, won the Rosemary Daniell Prize and is published by Minerva Rising Press. Her latest collection of poetry is The Body is Burden and Delight. Boiling Lake (On Voyage) won the Italo Calvino Prize in Fabulist Fiction. Field Notes, A Geography of Mourning, received the Julia Ward Howe Prize, Honorable Mention, from the Boston Authors Club. Some of her other awards include the Marguerite McGlinn Prize for Fiction from Philadelphia Stories for Minato Sketches, the Neil Shepard Prize, Green Mountains Review, a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellowship, the Leeway Foundation Award for Achievement, a Colorado Council on the Arts Fellowship, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. She is an Associate Professor Emerita at Temple University.
