Sweet, sexy, and filled to the brim with “meant-to-be” vibes, Emergency Contact was probably the most morish M/M read I’ve devoured in months.

Featuring an E.R. doctor (Liam) and a paramedic (Noah), who share a powerful, inexplicable connection upon meeting in the trauma bay of a hospital, the story follows their all-consuming relationship as it intensifies in the face of countless medical emergencies, family dramas, major career challenges, and even the appearance of one pesky arrogant ex.

Their love story was instant and their otherworldly connection so strong, with a definite “soul recognition” vibe, that I didn’t question the breakneck speed with which Liam and Noah fell in love and began moving through big stages of their relationship.

The issues they tackled in the story felt genuine and their personal experiences were all relatable, grounding this otherwise instant-love story in a solid sense of reality and believability.

Even the third-act drama made complete sense to me, sympathising from both sides of the issue, and I can’t often say that when reading romances with last-act conflict.

Considering Macington is a new-to-me author, this was a really solid (sweet, sexy, morish) first introduction to their writing—one that’s left me wanting more and eager to see what else is in their backlog!

Emergency Contact by C.G. Macington is a stand alone, MM, medical, insta-love romance. You guys, I live for books like this, when their eyes meet for the first time across a crowded room and that connection is just “there!” They can’t look away.

Dr. Liam Winters is thirty four years ago. Liam joined the staff at Metropolitan General three years ago as an attending emergency physician. Liam left his previous job and city to start fresh after he was hurt deeply by his now ex-boyfriend. Liam is a rock star of a Dr. The way he handles traumas in the Emergency Dept. is astounding. But, he has spent the last three years doing nothing but working and sleeping. He’s shut himself off from everything else. Until that day, when the paramedics were bringing in a new patient, and he looked up and saw HIM! Their eyes met and held. It felt like electricity was shooting back and forth between them. He was astounded no one else was noticing what was happening!

Noah Bennett had just transferred in last week to his new position as paramedic supervisor. As soon as he walked into the E.D. that day and his eyes found the Dr. across the room, his world tilted. When they were in the trauma room together, things got even stranger. They anticipated each other’s moves, he handed the Dr. instruments before he asked for them. They worked together like they’d known each other for years, not minutes.

“Being with you makes everything clearer somehow.”

The more these two cross paths, the stronger the connection grows until they can’t deny there is something there worth exploring. Their feelings grow strong and fast. Neither can explain their connection but decide to just go with it and see where it leads. But real life tries its hardest to get in their way. Between crazy schedules, ex’s showing up, and so much more, they are tested. Are they too new to withstand the stresses of two men in medical careers? Or is their unique connection strong enough to get them through?

“Something inside me clicks into place, like the final piece of a puzzle I didn’t know I was solving.”

I loved this book. I adored both men and loved them together. This is my fourth book by this author. I previously read his St. Jude’s Medical series and adored it. It was hilarious. This one is completely different but equally wonderful. There will definitely be more books by this author in my future.

This book was a mess.

Liam’s and Noah’s connection was too supernatural, cosmic, soulmate-y to be believable and it took me out of the story because this was not at all a paranormal book.

And then the writing. Not only was everyone in awe of their almost magical ability to work together this synchronized but the MCs (and everyone else) were constantly pointing it out. How out of this world and rare and awesome it was. Damn. *hard eyeroll

And then the author had me extra confused when a character was first introduced as female and then got referred to with male pronouns. Not to mention nurse Chen, Dr Chen, EMS supervisor Chen. Idk if the author got confused here with that character or if there were really three separate ones with the same name.

Anyhow. I’m done here.

Hard to categorize this one because it had inexplicable elements but isn't paranormal in any way. 'I'd find you and fall in love with you in every lifetime' vibes.

Like the other book I've read by this author, this one takes its time to hit the sweet spot. For me, this one clicked around 65% in. Which is a LONG time to wait.

The first part isn't boring, it's just that not much happens. Just the MCs meeting and having this otherworldly instant connection that's then brought up again and again and again while they navigate a relationship at a pace that's so accelerated they're talking about moving in together a few weeks in.

Luckily (for me, not for Liam), shit hits the fan at around 65% in and THEN the fun starts.

He makes a lowkey reasonable but decidedly unromantic choice and Noah wastes no time kicking him to the curb.

Again, could be my drama loving heart but I was glad Noah wasn't open to those bare minimum 'I should have known better, please forgive me and let's fuck' apologies that MCs are into giving.

Makes that man proper grovel and issues an ultimatum to boot.

"But if you ever shut me out like this again, we’re done. No second chances. No grand gestures with wilting flowers and 80s music."

I was in the background cheering like yasssssss baby, drop the hammer. 💀

Without a doubt my favorite part of the book.

I was okay with the eventual forgiveness. The offense was hurtful but not malicious.

Overall an okay read but requires patience if fluff bores you because the fluff comes first, then the drama.

This book has an instant connection between the main characters that is so strong they don’t know what to think of it. The story line is a realistic view of the progression. Of their relationship. There are work politics, ex lovers, family and friends the basis of the entire book is based on the real issues in life. Evoking emotions that are easily relatable. I really enjoyed this book.

A reunion of old souls, or so it seems when Liam and Noah get near each other. They seem to just know what the other needs, whether it's over a treatment bed or in the kitchen making dinner. Navigating a relationship that is moving at a breakneck pace and maintaining their professionalism is difficult. An offer that's hard to resist instils fear of what it could do to their fledgling relationship and threatens to tear them apart. A wonderful lesson in romance, trust, and love.

Noah and Liam work flawlessly together. They have an instant connection that takes everyone by surprise. My only real issue is that is mentioned repeatedly. That part got repetitive. Their relationship progressed quickly, but naturally. Of course there's tension with an ex, but his meddling is overcome. Overall it's a quick and satisfying love story

Almost an episode or 2 of a medical drama. It read pretty quickly. This is very much on par of this author.

It’s ages since I read an MM story in a hospital setting and this one lived up to my expectations having read the blurb. When Dr. Liam Winters first meets Paramedic Supervisor Noah Bennett in a Trauma Room at Metropolitan General in Canada, they feel something spectacular between each other immediately. I thought this might be something paranormal or fantasy worldish. But no, it was something very special and it continued every time they handled a case together in the emergency room. Everyone noticed how Noah was able to sense exactly what Liam needed when he performed his ‘miracles’ on his patients. Liam and Noah had faced traumatic events in their past lives and Liam in particular was a bit careful about trusting.

Oh, my heart, I can’t believe it. Liam and Noah’s chemistry from their first meeting just leaped off the pages as I read each chapter. Even though it was past the 50% mark before they knew they were a perfect match in the bedroom as well as the Emergency Room at work. Their dynamic in the bedroom was a surprise, so perfect. I loved how they both just accepted their feelings for each other despite the posssible difficulties with HR and Liam’s last traumatic relationship. They never doubted themselves. Loved how they kept texting each other throughout their busy days.

They knew they had something special and things just progressed so beautifully. It all just happened so perfectly and then they were looking for an apartment to move in together. However life just loves tossing lemons about with no consideration where they land. Liam is offered the job of his dreams, double his salary and other prestigious perks, but it’s hundreds of miles away in Boston. Torn about this dilemma, he dithers about mentioning it to Liam for too long. When Dr.Jason Mercer arrives on temporary assignment Liam is shocked to come face to face with his cheating ex, so much so he calls Noah to come get him. The ex is still a nasty buzzard and belittles Noah in front of Liam.

Just as Liam and Noah are about to advance their relationship by moving in together, the bubble is burst. Noah can’t accept what Liam has done or not done, to be exact. I wanted to smack Liam to get him to wake up and go get his man back right now. It will take more than a bunch of flowers to make things right.

C.G. Macington is a new author to me and ‘Emergency Contact’ was exactly what I needed after reading a blood thirsty mob story. I’ll read more of this author whose other books seem very diverse in comparison and appeal to me none the less.

This was an ARC copy I received via the author and I am happy to provide my unbiased review of ‘Emergency Contact’.

An interesting story where the two M/C’s just fit together perfectly. Their chemistry was never really explained except for the idea that souls recognize each other. As good an explanation as any and with this story it’s an intriguing concept. Small amount of drama, nasty exes and a sweet love story pull you in and make your time a welcome investment.

I’m not usually a fan of the insta-love trope, but since I’d already read and enjoyed a previous book by C. G. Macington—and because Emergency Contact is a medical romance (a genre I tend to love, especially as a fan of medical dramas)—I decided to give it a shot. I’m glad I did.

What really worked for me was how the author handled the “insta” part. It wasn’t just love at first sight; it felt more like insta-sync. From the moment ER doctor Liam and paramedic Noah began working together, they had this natural flow, this tandem rhythm that made it feel like they’d always been on the same team. That chemistry made the quick emotional connection feel earned rather than rushed.

As someone who’s very career-oriented, I especially related to the dilemma Liam faces two-thirds through the book—whether to chase a big career opportunity or stay and build something real with someone who felt like they could read his thoughts. That emotional tension hit just right.

The story is lighthearted, sweet, and full of medical diagnoses and on-the-job moments that fans of medical fiction will enjoy. It’s a charming, low-stakes read perfect for a cozy summer evening. If you’re into fast-but-emotionally-grounded romances with professional vibes and soft connections, I definitely recommend picking this one up.

Really more like 2.5 but I rounded up. I really wanted to like this but I didn’t. I didn’t dislike it enough to DNF but was disappointed. There are some inconsistencies and repetitiveness. I highly suspect this was AI generated. I thought it was going to have a paranormal aspect but it didn’t. I did like Noah and Liam together but was annoyed a little at the conflict. Like just have a conversation. I feel like Liam would’ve been able to have his professional dream as well. Thankfully it was a short read albeit disappointing.

This started out so great but it lost me along the way. Too much repetition and I love a slow burn but after the initial meet and instant attraction it took a long time for these guys to get their act together. LOL Also, a good part of the beginning made you think this was a paranormal but it's not, not a bad thing or good thing... just different.

This is a beautiful story of Emergency trauma doctor Liam and paramedic supervisor Noah and the uncanny connection they have from their first meeting, anticipating each other’s needs in a medical situation, performing a “dance” as if they have known each other their whole lives and worked together for years. Neither can understand where this connection comes from, just knowing it is unusual and special, something unique in their lives.

As their relationship grows on a personal and professional level, they become even closer, entering a romantic relationship that is very satisfying on all aspects. As they get ready to go to the next step of moving in together, a possible career move for Liam causes problems, bringing questions of trust and honesty to the forefront, threatening the happiness they have found and the importance of the connection they have.

There is humor in this story (I couldn’t stop laughing and smiling about Liam’s home cooked meal disaster); sadness with the loss of patients and connections to personal memories from the past; a sense of dedication on the part of the doctors, nurses and paramedics that work tirelessly to relieve suffering and save lives; and the learning about each other and finding that compatibility in all areas of the relationship that can lead to happiness and the inevitability of certain relationships that seem “meant to be”. The world building of the hospital and the emergency department was right on, having spent untold hours in ERs over the years, and the characters were realistic and true. I was invested in the relationship between Liam and Noah from their initial meeting, I could feel the connection and chemistry between them, as well as their growing love.

The depiction of the connection between Liam and Noah was such that I could actually feel it. Whether it was Liam’s grandmother’s “soul recognition”, when souls know each other across lifetimes and instantly recognize each other each time they meet (my choice, based on personal experience with that connection to someone); or a “neurological synchronicity”, feeling like you’ve done something before; or “sharing a brain” or Deja vu or whatever other explanation you can come up with, the connection was there for me each time Liam and Noah interacted. When Noah asked Liam what it felt like to him, Liam responded

“Like coming home,” he says without hesitation. “Like all my life, I’ve been trying to solve a puzzle with missing pieces, and then you walked in and suddenly the picture was complete.”

That is what I vividly felt with these two men any time they were near each other throughout the entire book. It was a really good feeling for me.

As I said at the beginning, I thought I was a beautiful book about the unique connection between two men, it left me with a positive and uplifting feeling, and is one I would recommend without a qualm.

BookSirens Advanced Read

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A fairly typical cheesy romance story. While I enjoyed it and loved Noah and Liam, it all felt a little rushed or like a checklist where each chapter was just an item being checked off. It almost felt like the author wanted to get a bunch of different storylines in to book, where many of them could have been expanded on over several chapters or even into their own book. There was also some inconsistencies in timelines and settingdetails, for example, in one chapter an event was a week but the next chapter that event was 3 days but started later.
I liked that the story alternated between the POV of both men. Was good to get each of their mindframes. I also liked that it took place in Canada.
Overall I rather enjoyed this book even with the slight inconsistencies and would definitely read about Liam and Noah again.

Fun and interesting in a way I wasn’t expecting. I appreciated how well done the medical aspects were done and either well researched or the author has a medical background maybe. Either way I’m a huge romantic but found myself really liking the medical stuff a lot. Guess I maybe should have finished that nursing degree years back haha.
Anyways, this was an enjoyable read all around. My only reason for a lost star is while I like what many call ‘insta love’ but usually it tends to be insta like a lot or like having sex with you. This one was truly speaking ‘I love you’s’ a bit too soon for my taste even in the suspended reality of a book. I mean they had really only kissed and known each other weeks.
The supernatural kinda stuff was fine for me but this really gave me some hang ups. I wish it wasn’t until later they had the break through, especially with the problems they faced later on.

I love when authors give you someone you connect with instantly, just like Liam and Noah, without the cram of miscommunication, because we see everything. It’s so good to be part of their journey! And even though this is the first book I’ve read by this author, the blurb for the ARC caught my attention, and here I am, leaving my voluntary review. The medical lingo is quite heavy in certain scenes, understandably so, but you dint get lost, because it is explained by the actions of the characters, and that’s really good. I wanted to throttle Liam a couple of times, but I’m glad he figured out what really matters the most. Robert’s journey hit me hard, reminding me of my own cancer journey, but it was well done, and it was realistic without dragging too much. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Ill say 3.5 but round up because I loved Noah and Jason together. It was so fluffy and corny but I really enjoyed it. This is just what I needed to break my slump. I loved the wholesome moments, the shared dinners, and movies.
The story was smooth sailing until around 72% then we get the ex drama along with the secrets. I loved the groveling. Noah didn't let Jason off easily.

💥Instalove
💥Dual POV
💥Third Act Break Up but it wasn't malicious. The grovel made it worth it.
💥Low spice(IMO) but was what we got was great. They wanted more than a physical relationship which I appreciated.
💥Good supportive side characters

The repetitiveness of some of the thoughts and conversations brought the stars down for me.
The connection between MCs was really hammered into us.

Overall I would definitely try more from this author.

A must-read for medical romance lovers!

Medical romances are one of my favourite genres, and this one delivered everything I was hoping for and more. The story had such a perfect balance of emotion, tension, and heart — I was completely invested from start to finish.

What really stood out to me was the accuracy of the emergency procedures. It added a whole extra layer of realism that made the story feel so immersive and believable. You can tell the author has done their research, and it made those high-stakes moments even more gripping.

On top of that, the romance itself was beautifully written — heartfelt, engaging, and full of those little moments that make you fall in love with the characters.

If you enjoy medical settings, emotional depth, and a romance that feels real, this book is definitely worth reading.

This was so different from what I expected, but it turned out to be a really great read. The connection between Noah and Liam was truly beautiful, there was something so special in how deeply they seemed to understand each other, like their bond was written into their very bones.

As a fan of medical dramas on TV, I figured I’d give a book version a go, and it absolutely delivered. The ER scenes were gripping, with detailed injuries, medical procedures, and just enough behind-the-scenes gossip (thanks to a few nosy nurses!) to keep things interesting. I’ll definitely be reading more like this!

I will give this book a 5/5! What do you call an instant connection with someone you have never met? Noah, a paramedic, and Liam, a trauma surgeon, are about to find the answer to that question. The two meet in the ER and work together flawlessly. Both men are shocked as are their coworkers. The two men decide to see where this thing they have goes and end up falling in love. But then Liam's ex shows up and tries to cause trouble. Liam also has a job offer in another country. The two men will have to trust and communicate with each other. Thus is a goid book.

It takes alot for me to leave negative reviews.

This "magic connection" they have is insanely repetitive. It's probably mentioned in some way at least every other page. This subject feels like it was the main content of the whole book.

The main characters were pretty much together almost immediately so the rest of the book was unnecessary filler. The book should have been a very short book (like under 100 pages).

Jason, the ex, had a different last name on his 2nd appearance than he did in his 1st appearance.

This is just some issues. If my OCD didn't make me finish any book I start, I would have been done by 10%.

This story wasted no time, right from the start the connection between Liam and Noah is instant as they look at each other over the patient being wheeled in. The idea of a top doctor and a paramedic being together throws the hospital staff into rumor and gossip mode. This story is heavy on the medical language but that just manages to put you right there as these two are in synchronized efficiency working to save a life. It's touching, sexy, and sweet, with a splash or two of drama, but a lovely read.

Liam is an ER doctor who had moved to get away from his ex that was a doctor in the same hospital and thought that he had closed off his feelings until he met Noah a paramedic. The first time he met Noah was when he was delivering a person to the ER but then Noah stepped in helping Liam stabilize a patient, Noah seemed to know what Liam needed in tools before Liam said anything. Everyone was speechless with what they had seen the 2 doing without saying anything and happened more, but then it happened in the kitchen too. Where there for each other was home.

Gosh, I absolutely LOVED this book. Liam and Noah's immediate connection was thoroughly enjoyable, and I couldn't help but fall more in love with them as a couple with every page turn! Personally, I feel like this is a light-hearted story, and suggest reading it when you want to witness a feel-good romance. (There is a slight conflict near the end, but all good books have that!)

All in all, I 100% recommend this book.

Their chemistry was endearing. This book read like one of those harlequin romance novels. But it did keep me interested although it also felt like a Lifetime movie. Could have been a solid 4. BUT…it was really also really repetitive. I get it…they connected. They had a connection. Everyone knew how well they connected. (See what I did there? Lol) Enough already. *last rant: with ALL the possible doctors names, you had to include 2 Dr Chens??!! Why?

This story was enjoyably unusual in describing an instant link between the MCs, which honestly surprised and confused both of them. I really enjoyed the various medical situations. The reasons behind the temporary breakup felt quite realistic, and Noah not instantly forgiving him, and taking Liam back was really good.

Great read.

Always wonderful to read a great book that get the medical information right. As a nurse, nothing worse than incorrect medical procedures and throw in a great romance for the win!
