Sara Wilde is a bit of a conundrum really. As part of the Connected community she has the incredible ability to use the tarot cards in order to locate lost or hidden items but she's a heroine with secrets. In the previous book she became even more entwined with the world of the Arcana council and is now in a very difficult position of desperately wanting to leave Vegas whilst knowing the council seem to have her right where they want her. Sara is determined to help save those like herself survive and will take any job she can but when will those with real power take a stance and help? There's something off though, something flickering at the back of Sara's mind and her latest job puts her right in the firing line. Her first love is in town, someone is desperate to awaken something older than dirt and then of course there's Armaeus the Magician a born trickster with an agenda of his own! Sara might know how to handle the cards but what can she do when the deck is so heavily stacked against her?
Wilde is an appropriate name here because as usual the author takes her readers on a truly wild ride. From the first scene in Siberia to the crazy streets of Vegas it's so fast I'm surprised I didn't get whiplash! Sara might be talented but she is constantly at the mercy of those who should be helping and yet always seem determined to muddy the waters. Nothing is easy or straight forward and it's a complex story line so definitely a series to read in order. The Arcana council have a bigger presence too but if you're expecting romance well this instalment ends in a way that really tantalizes. No nothing is ever easy for Sara and this reader wouldn't have it any other way!

Immortal Vegas, book 2. This series just keeps getting better and better. The world building is new and unusual, at least to me, this book definitely isn't a standalone as each book builds on the continuing story. I wouldn't call this a romance either, more a fantasy with a hint of possible romance. There is a lot of sexual tension going on and I'm still not sure who Sara is going to end up with, the incredibly powerful Magician or Brody, it really could go either way at this point.
It is becoming clearer and clearer that Sara is capable of much more than she knows, the Magician seems to know but wants her to figure it out for herself. A little more of Sara's history is given in this book but I'm still waiting to find out what sent her on the run from her life and hometown when she was only 16. The secondary characters are intriguing and I am eagerly awaiting the next book.

I liked to say that this is the second time that I’m writing my review. Sometime I hate you internet!
So when it comes to this series I can only state that
Jenn Stark is a natural in her story telling and I just love this series. It is funny, funky, witty and downright hilarious with a kicking story.
Sarah Wilde hunts artefacts for private collectors as well as the Arcane Council but is currently on a private gig to get the Mongolians crown that belonged to Ghengis Khan which offers prosperity and a long life there is a slight hitch though but money is money and she needs it to protect the Connecteds of the world against dark practioners and SANCTUS an unknown is also Techzilla.
Back in Vegas she has to be an oracle to Eshe, the high priestess on the council. Sarah is an unknown factor in the game. She has to deal with the council, Armaeus, the Magician, the devil and the fool.
Sarah is given another gig from the council as the Rarity is in town where all magical artefacts are auctioned off and this time round there are some big players in town. They are after some scrolls which are apparently the language of the Gods.
There are traitors and the balance needs to tip and the council is getting involved.
Not going to give too much away but Sarah needs to make some choices, stay in Vegas? Find out more about her past? What is the story behind the dragon? Will she develop her powers?
She lets herself be used by the council but I guess it is mutual.
What I don’t get is why Sarah is so caught up on Detective Brody Rooks when she doesn’t really want him. I need more information on this one with those two.
Ms. Stark creates a beautiful world with an interesting plot without being predictable making you want the next book.

In this book the whole idea of her sending money to father Jerome started making less and less sense to me as a plot point. I’m mostly thinking it is an afterthought and don’t really care that much about it. It doesn’t seem to be real and mostly it is a money sink since she sends him a hell of a lot of money. I can blame it on my ignorance of needing to know how much money it takes to relocate people, but I think it is a bit of a waste. I especially think that when there is already a bunch of stuff going on that isn’t too clear to begin with.
Still don’t like her wardrobe, the Brodie thing is just getting worse, like Dixie even less than I did in the first book, but at least finally some sort of information about the council to make things almost make a little bit more sense. Is this going to be like other series where the heroine is constantly worn down, injured, needing to eat, bathe, find clothes to wear? Do women only have a few settings when they’re put in books, the gritty heroine, the sex pot, or the bitch? It is almost like there is a bunch of neat stuff happening, but if you focus on one thing it starts to look not so cool so it is best to just take in the chaos and like it that way.
Almost like those old painting wholly made up of just dots. From afar the paintings are beautiful, but when you look up close you see that they’re just made up of a hell of a lot of little colored dots that don’t make much sense by themselves.
I mostly get what happened at the end, but I think the problem for me with this book is that there isn’t really a clear start/end to plot points. It is all out chaos and fast paced so then … when the end comes I’m left feeling like … wait … what? It is over? The ups and downs aren’t too defined for me.
Once again Nikki is my hero since she is consistent. I also liked learning more about her background.
I’m still confused and not as amused as I was with the first book.

This is the second book in the series and the first one that I've read but it still made sense and I don't think I was hampered from enjoying the fast paced, action packed story.
Sara Wilde is definitely wild! She's a tarot card reading psychic who has a talent for finding magical artefacts and the cat burglar skills to enable her to gain them for her employers. Now there's to be a convention in Las Vagas where some priceless artefacts will be up for secret auction and her first task is for the Magician who wants her to investigate their provenance and confirm they are indeed magical. This brings her back into contact with her first love, Detective Brody Rooks and so the fun begins . . .
This is an intriguing, well written saga, with many powerful characters and you're never quite certain who is on the same side. There are twists and turns galore to keep you riveted and turning pages as Sara journeys into unknown places facing dangers, deceptions and delightful possibilities en route. With two potential romeos and plenty of action, what on earth will happen to Sara as the story unfolds and even the cards seem to be against her?
I have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone who enjoys magical mysteries packed with surprises and potential romance!

Still got blue balls. I expect the eventual boom chicka bow wow to be super hot, all this teasing isn't helping. Overall, love the new myth incorpoted into the story, JStark's universe is becoming curioser and curioser.

This is book two in the Immortal Vegas series. Sara Wilde, our sort-of psychic relic hunter extraordinaire, is trying to find out why so many Connecteds (people with varying degrees of psychic abilities) are suddenly being drawn to Las Vegas. Is it related to the annual Rarity Show, where rare, old gold and other items are shown...or does it have to do with Sanctum, the quasi military-religious group whose goal it is to eradicate all Connecteds? Sara isn't sure but she aims to find out. Along the way, she'll have to deal with the Magician and the rest of the Arcana Council - and we meet two new members in this book - in addition to Detective Brody Rooks. He's the policeman who knew and worked with a teenaged Sara back in Memphis, her first big crush. Personally, I find Brody a big, mundane snoozefest. The fact that he keeps popping up in situations where it doesn't really make sense tells me all I need to know about his role in the series. And it's damned annoying.
There are some aspects of the story that seem vague and as if the author is just making it all up on the fly. In skimming through some other reviews, I see that I'm not alone in finding myself sometimes confused about what's going on in the narrative or about how one thing relates to another. Still, it's entertaining for what it is so I'm on board with it for now.

So, you just finished reading the latest Darynda Jones’s Charley Davidson book and now it is UGG time. UGG not as in the boots, but UGG what should I read next, because I have exhausted all my urban fantasy go to authors. Well let me tell you about a girl named, Sara Wilde, and her pack of tarot cards.
Wilde Card by Jenn Stark is book two in the Immortal Vegas urban fantasy series. Wilde Card has Sara Wilde once again hunting for treasure in the far reaches of the world. I don’t think Sara and I could get farther out than Mongolia, but that is where we found ourselves spelunking for an ancient magical artifact. You know us girls need to make our money anyway we can, as the youngest of the Connected (psychic/magical) community are being hunted by both the dark arts practitioners and the SANCTUS the evil killing arm of the Catholic Church. Yikes! Now if you are Catholic, you might be offended by the portrayal of the evil baddies run by the popes bestie. I on the other had understand that this is a work of fiction, plus the dudes did have the Inquisition so it wasn’t a big leap to them hunting Connected people. Sara and I got to meet a few new members of the Arcana Council The Empress and The Fool. Well we got to met one new member, Sara already had a sordid night of drinking with The Fool, which I was not invited to. Girl has had some adventures in her quick Vegas pit stops.
The Magician and I also got a peek into Sara’s past, which she was not that eager to share with us. Geez girl you play your cards close to the vest. Her past is ever prevalent, as Detective Brody Rooks is part of LVMPD, finding out he was a decade older was yucky, because that kiss in book one, now felt kinda weird. I don’t trust him! Why you ask? Well since I have been hanging around in Sara’s head, since the book is written in the first person, Sara and I have been lusting after The Magician. His voice in our head is seductive like rich chocolate. Plus he is so damned easy on the eyes. Only one problem we don’t TRUST him either, and he play his cards clothes to the vest and has them up his sleeves and possibly down his pants.
The Devil, Nikki and Dixie round out the adventure, along with the two bad guy factions. The council still had a choke hold on Sara, as the girls super powers of being the oracle are still sparking. Sara and I are still struggling to understand the councils no invention policy, and this book does open up the workings of the council for us to peruse.
As with the other books the sexuality of the book is more tease and tension that banging. I classify this a urban fantasy with a building romance. It seems to be a long game romantic book, in the mold of Mercy Thompson, Kate Daniels and Charley Davidson type romances.
My adventure with Sara in this book, really set the bar for the series, as this story opened the door wide on some characters, and gave us a understanding of the Connected community that was missing in book one. There were some minor comments made by Sara that I need to ask the girl about as they were not explained to me and left me hanging. It was nothing that affected our adventures but they did leave me scratching my head. Well I have packed my go bag, and can’t wait for our next adventure which starts in February 2016. Whoot Hoot, bring on the magic!!
After all the praise, her is what I would like to see as this series moves forward to bump the series up to a five star read for me. I would like to see Sara more hands on with these kids she is risking her life to save. I really think her connecting with a kid, one on one would humanize their plight more for me as a reader. My girl doesn’t even go to visit the twin oracles that talk so much about her. WHAT??? Sara do you have commitment issues. Okay I know you have issues, but really Sara, you need to start living. Give it a shot, hang with a kid or two, let me know why you bleed for them. I really need this from you girl.
Now some advice on you love life. Loved that you hung with The Magician, and honestly his skill set is out of this world. But, we do need to move it along girl, in our next adventure. I don’t want Brody around, plus no dude in a rumbles suit is going to do it for us. Brody is like a place filler to give our adventure some sexual tension like Saiman in the Kate Daniels books. Please let it be like that.

Sara Wilde est une cartomancienne. Elle n'utilise pas son pouvoir pour arnaquer des clients, mais pour trouver des artefacts.
Car pour elle les cartes indiquent toujours la vérité et elle est la championne pour les comprendre et aller droit au but avant tout le monde.
Dans ce monde les utilisateurs de magie sont appelés les Connectés. Ils sont éparpillés dans le monde car des connectés peuvent tout à fait naitre dans des familles d'humains normaux. Il n'y a pas de créatures fantastique dans le monde (ou si il y en a on n'en a pas encore rencontré).
Il n'y a pas d'organisations centralisée ou de police pour les connectés, c'est un peu la loi du plus puissant tant qu'ils ne se font pas prendre par la justice des humains.
Alors Sara a décidé que son but à elle c'était d'aider les connectés sans pouvoirs réels, sans connections. Elle sauve notamment des enfants car il sévit à l'heure actuelle des groupes de chasseurs dont la principale activité est de retrouver et capturer les enfants connectés non révélés pour les vendre au plus offrant. Souvent en petit morceaux car les organes d'un jeune connectés sont les objets les plus puissants pouvant être utilisés dans des cérémonies de magie noire...
Il existe aussi une organisation liée à l'église catholique qui massacre les connectés pour le seul fait d'exister car la magie est forcement mauvaise pour eux.
Mais il existe tout de même un conseil dont le seul but est de veiller à l'équilibre du magique du monde. Ils n'interviennent que si visiblement un des deux cotés prend le dessus sur l'autre et que le monde sombre trop dans le chaos ou dans l'ordre.
Chaque membre du conseil prend le forme d'un avatar d'une des carte du Tarot. Ainsi à leur tête est le magicien. Son fonctionnement sera révélé au fur et à mesure donc je n'en dit pas trop ici.
Tome 2 : Wilde Card :
Je ne sais pas ci c'est lié au fait que je les ai enchaînés (même si il c'est passé plus d'un jour entre les 2 finalement vu mes temps de trajets) mais j'ai bien moins apprécié ce second tome.
C'est surtout du au fait qu'ici il n'y avait pas vraiment d'intrigue. Il se passe plein d’événements ponctuels mais on ne peux pas dire au milieux dans quel sens va l'histoire.
Du coup j'avais un peu l'impression de ne pas comprendre ou on allait et de toujours me demander : "mais elle a commencé l'histoire ici ou toujours pas?" alors qu'on enchaînait les petits passages sans réels rapports les uns avec les autres.
Le changement par rapport au tome précédent est le fait que Sara commence à vraiment prendre conscience de son potentiel, et je pense que finalement plus que l'histoire c'est ce fait la qui est au centre de ce tome. Elle s'aperçoit que son donc avec les carte était aussi un don d'oracle en quelque sorte sauf qu'il est tellement puissant en elle qu'elle peut carrément s'en servir pour voyager dans ses visions si les événements ont lieux au moment ou elle les voit.
Bref, ce tome ci m'a moins convaincu, le personnage principal évolue de pion à quelque chose d'encore non défini car plus personne (et encore moins elle même) ne sait vraiment ce qu'elle est. Du coup on est plus sur un tome de transition ce qui me fait espérer que le suivant soit meilleur.

4.5 Stars... I have to say that this second book of the series was an improvement over the first in terms of fluidity of the writing... I enjoyed both reads tremendously, but this one appears as though the author settled more into her writing allowing the flow of the story to shine through and the character development to progress... The overall storyline came together with the multiple players taking shape and falling into their designated role within the story... We also uncover Sara's past a bit more and hints are provided as to the extent of her abilities and her overall role in the salvation of the Connected society... Fast paced, high octane action sequences, the element of magic and mysticism, and an intriguing romantic triangle all culminate into a delectable read that keeps me wanting more:)

Sara is having a crazy time of things. She's still avoiding Vegas, but has to go back after completing another crazy job. She can't stop running into Brody and he can't decide if he wants to arrest her or sleep with her. Nikki is awesome as always. I'd forgotten about Dixie's infatuation with Brody. Armaeus is still mysterious, still tempting Sara and still ticking her off.I
We get to see two more Council members this time around and they even get a little more involved in things than expected. Because of what Armaeus does, the Connecteds get a boost and Sara confronts an entity from her past. She still has a lot of power untapped inside of her and it's about time she starts using it.

I got a little lost in the middle but this series is all action, action, action. From pretty much the first page Sara is on a hunt that turns quite entertaining and it didn't stop there.
I am enjoying this series, the whole tarot card thing is different to normal and though I know nothing of it, I'm learning little bits here and there.
Looking forward to reading more of Sara and the Magician, and whatever is currently blooming between them.
Off to start the last book in the trilogy boxset.

This is an incredible series. Jenn Stark brings the Tarot alive with The Magician, The Priestess, The Fool, The Empress, The Devil……they are supposed to ensure the balance between dark and light magic without interference. There are children being killed, tortured for their abilities – they are being poached – their eyes are special? They lose their eyes…you get the idea. It’s gruesome business and Sara is trying desperately to save these kids. The only way she knows how to help is to get money to support the “underground railroad” for Connecteds. She does that by using her Tarot deck to find things for other people….for a price. The Magician is playing both sides to the middle. He wants artifacts, but he wants Sara too. Does he want her for her developing abilities? Does he want her because she means something to him? Does he want her because he wants to take her apart piece by piece to see how she works? I don’t know. Ivana and I had a discussion and we settled on the fact he is playing a very long game.
Top Five reasons I liked this book:

Characters I can really get into

Sexual tension between Sara and a couple of characters makes the story even tastier

Sara Wilde is just a hardworking cat burglar with the eensy-teensy ability to divine the location of even the best-hidden magical relics. Her talents have landed her square in the middle of an epic tug-of-war between the Arcana Council, the frustratingly hands-off guardians of magical balance, and SANCTUS, the sanctimonious (literally) a-holes intent on eradicating all magic from the world, light or dark, by fair means or foul. This time, Sara gets sucked deeper into council politics... and a delicious love triangle that becomes even more hopelessly tangled as the book progresses. Of course, Sara is more than she seems, and try as she might to bury her head deep in the Vegas sands, she will find herself at the center of a magical maelstrom that will change her--and those around her--irrevocably.

It's still worth your investment, though, especially for fans of Kate Daniels, MacKayla Lane, or Mercy Thompson.

Sara Wilde returns in book two of the Immortal Vegas series. This installment revolves around Sara and her latest mission from the Arcana Council. The Arcana Council is composed of members with strong magic dedicated to keeping the balance. They are represented as some of the Major Arcana, some of the key players in the book are the Fool, Magician, Devil, and a few others.
Sara excels as a magical artifacts hunter with her trusty tarot deck by her side. A local event, the Rarity, is in Vegas for the first time in forever and it's drawing some major players in Sara's field. She's tasked with finding some ancient scroll cases before they get to The Rarity and determine if their rumored powers are legit. Something is also drawing in the local Connected, people with abilities. Sara's task seems to be fairly easy, but unforseen complications gives us a more interesting read.
I was happy to see more of the Aracana Council in this installment. While we don't find everything out about them, we're slowly unraveling information on them and I can't wait to find out more. I'm also intrigued by Sara's powers, she really just uses her tarot deck and some psychic ability but you can tell there will be more to come. All in all Wilde Card was a solid sequel and I can't wait to see what happens next. I recommend this book if you like Urban Fantasy with an Indiana Jane main character.

This book was a pretty decent second book in the series; with the story building and building, I'm still not sure which of the guys the main character is going to get with. But this book was a lot more centred on the world it is based on and expanding that.
The main character is the same as in the previous book Sara; she is learning the true reach of her power and continuing to be the girl that collects artifacts for Armaeus. There is an overwhelming sense of doom as the Sanctus get more violent in their attacks.
The secondary characters are the same as in previous books however most noteworthy in this book are the two love interests Brody and Armaeus, and I'm still not sure which of them she is going to end up with.
The storyline is pretty good and I liked that it built a lot more onto the environment and the scenery. The pacing is pretty good, keeping readers interested from the first page until the very last.

The Arcana Council and Sanctus have been in opposition for centuries… maybe millenia. But Sara’s visions say Sanctus is coming to Vegas, and it’ll be war. There’s no way Arcana will let them stomp on their home turf. Detective Brody is staying in Vegas and now works for Homeland Security. The Rarity auction which sells magic items, is being held in Vegas for the first time ever. Also, for the first time, some of the darker magic families have rented booths. It also coincides with the solstice.
Dozens of out of towner Connected are being sent to town by visions, flyers, and emails from their magic shops linking to a website that no longer exists. They flood into Dixie’s drive in wedding chapel.
They aren’t coming because of the power of the magic items; most of them don’t even know about the auction.
Who is sending them in as magic cannon fodder? Is it like the magic Rapture?
And Sara has been hired by Armaeus to steal a couple of Egyptian scroll case cylinders. No biggie. Rumour is that if you open them, they let you speak the Word of God.

Another of the magic visitors are a witch coven called the Deathwalkers. Dixie says it in italics. They have a habit of being places where bodies pile up. It’s nothing to do with them; they’re location opportunists, I guess. No one is pleased to see them now when some magic shit is clearly about to go down.
Sara is unimpressed.

They pride themselves on being all natural, and the techno magic stuff we learnt about in the last book is, in the witches opinion, tainting things.
Sara did level up because of that techno gas she was pumped full of. In her visions for the Arcana, she does more than just see, she splits herself apart and astral travels. Even becoming corporeal when the situation demands it.
Ouch girl. That’s gotta hurt.
Armaeus can heal her but not without putting his hands on her… and his lips… and… *sighs*
She’s still desperately trying to keep him away.
The best Trans ex cop now BFF Nikki is back and awesome as ever. She thanks Sara forever for leaving her literally tied up with the Devil. Kreios is the Arcana Devil and thus knows all your desires. He was trapped inside the relic box she stole from the Vatican in Book 1. Sara thinks he has resting sex face; he can’t help himself. He’s her date for the big gala and helpfully changes her champagne into Scotch for her. But is it an illusion or real? And does it matter if your brain thinks its real?
Given that’s how the magic works in this world - people see what they want to see, or ignore what they don’t want to see.
*frowns* I’m confusing myself. Wilful blindness as avoidance. That’ll do.
The Devil also tells the truth. Huh… now that’s interesting.
The Rarity auction is disrupted by sound pitched at a level that incapacitates Connected and breaks magic security. It leaves non magic people alone. Great way to be outed, eh?
In the chaos, the scrolls are stolen.
Sara and The Fool are sent to get them back. Armaeus, being Egyptian, tags along.
The last card of her tarot reading was The Judgement card; an angel blasting a horn.

We meet The Empress, Roxie Meadows, the grifter queen of the seventies and an old friend of Dixie’s. She’s never put two and two together to realise her old friend had a seat at the Council. Roxie has become a recluse to hide the fact that she isn’t getting any older. Sara’s wondering why she never sees her at meetings.
The Fool, Simon, is also young to the Arcana and is their tech-head. He’s kind of jealous of Sara; he can astral travel in a more corporeal less clothed way.
We learn a tantalising fragment more about Sara’s past. I want to know WHO is sending her these vague warning messages.
She’s also rethinking her attraction to Brody. Was it just teen adoration? Or was he using her to further his own career? Does he really care for her now?
Armaeus is stepping up his campaign to have Sara but he doesn’t like competition.
He also doesn’t like it when she locks him out of her head so he magics a phone into her pocket.
This round goes to Arcana.

Un deuxième livre aussi addictif que le premier.
J'ai beaucoup ri avec la couronne mongolienne, j'ai frissonné à proximité d'Armaeus (PFIOULALA <3 Personnellement, je ne pense pas que Brody puisse lui tenir tête), j'ai adoré le Devil qui est fidèle à lui-même, je veux avoir une Nikki rien que pour moi, j'adore cette idée de résidences "fantomes" au dessus des vrais hotels de Vegas, j'aime toujours autant la façon dont Sara manipule les cartes du Tarot et j'ai hâte d'en savoir plus sur le mystérieux passé de Sara =D

A second book as addictive as the first one.
I laughed a lot with the Mongolian crown, I shivered close to Armaeus (PFIOULALA <3 Personally, I don't think Brody can measure up to him), I loved the Devil who is just himself , I want to have a Nikki just for me, I love this idea of "ghostly" residences above the real Vegas hotels, I still like the way Sara manipulates the Tarot cards and I can't wait to find out more about the mysterious past of Sara =D
Un deuxième livre aussi addictif que le premier.
J'ai beaucoup ri avec la couronne mongolienne, j'ai frissonné à proximité d'Armaeus (PFIOULALA <3 Personnellement, je ne pense pas que Brody puisse lui tenir tête), j'ai adoré le Devil qui est fidèle à lui-même, je veux avoir une Nikki rien que pour moi, j'adore cette idée de résidences "fantomes" au dessus des vrais hotels de Vegas, j'aime toujours autant la façon dont Sara manipule les cartes du Tarot et j'ai hâte d'en savoir plus sur le mystérieux passé de Sara =D

A second book as addictive as the first one.
I laughed a lot with the Mongolian crown, I shivered close to Armaeus (PFIOULALA <3 Personally, I don't think Brody can measure up to him), I loved the Devil who is just himself , I want to have a Nikki just for me, I love this idea of "ghostly" residences above the real Vegas hotels, I still like the way Sara manipulates the Tarot cards and I can't wait to find out more about the mysterious past of Sara =D

This is a paranormal-themed book. The main character is greedy, pushy and in my opinion not very likable. Nothing like the book and more or less like the one in book two. She uses Tarot cards to guide her through the storyline which makes the book unique. There is no Wilde card in the Tarot desk. at the end of the last book, she had been through a lot with the High Priestess and was cornered by a person from the past, Detective Brody Rooks. But all that happened then is not addressed now. totally irritating.

I was turned onto this series by a friend on FB and all I can say is, THANK YOU! I'm loving it.
Wilde Card is the second book in the series, and as far as action and adventure go, it's a win. The story centers around Sara Wilde as she navigates life as a Council "accessory". She's agreed to be the Oracle helper to Eshe from book one, and in doing so, her life is at the beck and call of those higher up.
This book has so much going on, I couldn't even begin to tell you where it starts. I love the supporting cast of characters including Dixie, Nikki, The Devil, The Fool and Brody. I like Sara, she's well written and fleshed out in the pages of the book.
If you liked book one, you'll love this follow up. Can't wait to read more!

The Magician is a stinker
Sara continues in her quest to help save the targeted Connected children, searching out artifacts and giving the money to Fr. Jerome. However, the Magician takes exception to her working a job he didn't assign. Detective Brook keeps showing up, wanting to find something to arrest her for. Then odd things start happening in Las Vegas. Some strange things start happening when she works with Eshe that get the Magician and the Devil thinking. SANCTUS have something planned in Vegas, and Connected have been swarming to Vegas for Solstice. What is going on?

December 23, 2019I said I wasn’t going to continue this series. Then I was faced with the decision between continuing a good (but boring) book and reading this awful one.
I chose this train wreck.
This series doesn’t know what it’s trying to be, the world building is inconsistent, and the dialog and characters are weird.
There’s one book left in the box set. I shouldn’t read it, but I’m sometimes a masochist when it comes to my reading choices.

This one wasn't as good as the first but it has some nice world-building type bits and also connecting all the different parts of Sara's past which was interesting (and I'm intrigued to know where it goes). Stark does some interesting stuff with mythology - I don't know know much about Major Arcana or Tarot but I kinda want to now!
