If Jesus is a Jew, why is there a wedge between Christianity and Judaism?
If Jews and Christians both believe in the same God, why is there such division? Why is history littered with deathly accounts of this division, from the early Jewish persecution of Christians to the Crusades' slaughtering of Jews?
The Lion of Judah unpacks the roots of this division, showing how jealousy, theology, the law, and the integration of Gentile believers into what was once a predominantly Jewish early church contributed to the schism. It then goes on to reveal how Jesus magnificently fulfilled every word in the Bible. Listeners will discover why the Lion of Judah is the rightful Lord and King of all people—Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, atheists, and the rest of creation.
This book will help Christians understand the history of Christianity and Judaism, get into greater alignment with God's plan of redemption, be better equipped to share the gospel with Jewish people, and become more sensitive to and appreciative of their Hebraic heritage.
The arrogant conceit that Christ was the 'Completion' or 'Fulfilment' of Judaism is literally the defining basis of all modern Antisemitism. Because it naturally leads to the conclusion that all Jews are merely being stubborn and rejecting Jesus out of spite. A conceit which, by the way, would be comical if it hadn't been the cause of nearly 2000 years of persecution and atrocities. Because the joke is that the original writers of the New Testament on which all Christianity is based couldn't read a word of Hebrew and had to use a Greek translation of the Tanakh (The Septuagint) as they reinterpreted, cherry picked and twisted Jewish scripture to claim that Jesus had 'Fulfilled Prophecies' which never actually existed in the first place. Translating 'Young Woman' as 'Virgin' and misreading the name of the tribe "Bethlehem Ephrathah" as the place name "Bethlehem," therefore inventing the Nativity myth for literally no reason at all.
So even as an Atheist who rejects both religions then, I reject and condemn this dangerously patronising tripe even more vehemently.
We are ONE! Rabbi Schneider's emphasis is on what he called "progressive revelation". From the beginning God has always wanted a relationship with Man, but in the instruction period, the Old Testament, Salvation for the Jew (Israel ) was not an individual thing but a collective identification. Atoning was never about just one individual but always for the entire nation of Israel. Then Jesus appears. Who is he? Why did he come? This is a book for both Christian and Jew. It emphasis the "sameness " of God, the over 300 predictions of Jesus in the OT, how Jesus fulfills both Testaments. There are good explanations on the Law which Jesus did not come to abolish but to cancel the penalty of the law and teach us how to have a relationship with God and to receive his loving Grace. There may be a few thoughts that may tweak the reader, but this is an important read for all humanity
I believe this is a must-read for all Christians and Jewish persons. From the front cover to the last page is a treasure of information for all walks of life. The missing part of life to life everlasting unfolds on each page of this book. You will be left with a foundation for living life to the fullest in a personal relationship with the Creator of all the Cosmos. Your purpose in life will unfold and left with a hunger for God's Word, which will help you grow in the relationship with God himself.
An amazing study of what brings Judaism and Christianity together from a scriptural standpoint. I loved how each chapter brought even the smallest details into clear focus. It is clear that Jesus is the Messiah yet so many still resist that. Rabbi Schneider makes clear the fulfillment of Judaism comes through the life of Jesus. I came away with a much better understanding of what Jews believe and why it is important to share the truth of the Messiah with them.
I found this to be a very interesting read giving insight to some of the Jewish customs, beliefs, and reasons for what they believe ( or don’t believe). Also a nice explanation of why the old and new testaments flow together and should be treated as the “whole” Bible.
Excellent book! This was very fascinating, and very informative, and has helped me in own spiritual life as a Catholic as I dive deeper and deeper into prayer, study, and Scripture. Still contemplating the implications of this perspective on the wider Christian-Jewish dialogue field.
Rabbi Schneider does an excellent job of connecting the Old and New Testaments. He paints a picture that demonstrates all the ways Jesus completes the Jewish Scriptures.
Learned so much from this book. It should be required reading in all Cristian churches since it explains the Old Testament and how and why it is so important and how it shows Jesus Christ
