A dangerous tornado. A clever crime. Can this psychic sleuth sift through the rubble to find a murder?
Mitzy Moon longs to embrace the warmth of summer at a community-wide celebration. Enjoying a midsummer sailboat regatta, strawberry cake, and bonfires on the beach sounds divine. But when dark skies unleash a superstorm, the festivities turn deadly....
While everyone pitches in to rescue stranded friends and neighbors from the wreckage, Mitzy senses evil in the debris. Her entitled feline is missing and the handsome sheriff is in no mood for her hunches. But she refuses to buy into his black cloud of skepticism, because she’s sure one of the bodies didn’t die of natural causes.
Can Mitzy catch a killer before the clues are washed away?
Castaways and Longer Days is the 14th book in the hilarious paranormal cozy mystery series, Mitzy Moon Mysteries. If you like snarky heroines, supernatural misfits, and a splash of romance, then you'll love Trixie Silvertale’s twisty whodunit.
USA Today Bestselling author Trixie Silvertale grew up reading an endless supply of Lilian Jackson Braun, Hardy Boys, and Nancy Drew novels. She loves the amateur sleuths in cozy mysteries and and obsesses about all things paranormal. Those two passions unite in her Mitzy Moon Mysteries, and she's thrilled to write them and share them with you.
Castaways and Longer Days is the fourteenth in the Mitzy Moon Mystery series. This book was released last week so it's available to cozy readers looking for a fun read. I haven't read a lot of paranormal mysteries lately, but am really enjoying this series. I just started the series with the book prior to this one, so other new readers shouldn't be afraid to jump right in.
The book starts with psychic sleuth Mitzy Moon and the rest of Pin Cherry Harbor getting ready for the Midsummer Regatta and Bonfire. A deadly tornado cuts the festivities short and an old foe of Mitzy's is found murdered. Now Mitzy, with encouragement from the spirit of her grandmother that is trapped in an amber amulet, is determined to help her sheriff boyfriend solve the case.
This is only the second book I’ve read in this series. The book prior to this took place when Mitzy and Erick were on vacation so I felt I really got to know them individually and as a couple. This book takes place in Pin Cherry Harbor where they both live, so it was nice being introduced to the town and it’s residents, both friends and foes of Mitzy. Mitzy and Erick make a great couple - they have chemistry, love and respect each other, and work well together while investigating the murder. I don’t know if it’s the setting, but the flow and dialogue flowed even more smoothly than in the prior book and I really became invested in the story.
The book is fast-paced and funny, but has some very touching scenes as well between Mitzy and her "Ghost-ma." I enjoyed seeing Mitzy use her intelligence and her psychic abilities to solve the murder. Fans of Victoria Laurie or of Nancy Atherton's Aunt Dimity series will enjoy this cozy paranormal mystery that is really fun to read. If you're already a fan of this series, you will love the book.
Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book. The book was provided to me at no cost, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.
Get ready to ugly cry! Seriously, have a box of Kleenex close. I finished yesterday but am crying again writing this. This book definitely takes the most emotional award for the series. A summer celebration turns deadly as a tornado hits Pin Cherry. The fact that I cried ugly, and still cry the morning after, is testament that the series is so well done, I feel close to the characters of Pin Cherry Harbor. A new character is introduced, a child, that I hope to see again. She isn’t a major character but I think she could be a charming guest. The mystery is well done with familiar faces involved and liars all around.
If you are new to this series, please read this in order. The storyline is so much better this way. You need all the books to really understand Mitzy’s character growth and all the connections between everyone. They now come in box sets for the Kindle so they are easier to grab. I don’t get paid to say this. I don’t have an affiliation. I just really enjoy this series and believe others will too. It is a paranormal one so it isn’t a good pick if you truly are not into that. If you are, it’s perfect. If your on the fence, it’s not scary paranormal. Mitzy is learning about it and we are along for the ride.
*I received an electronic copy of this book for review consideration. All opinions expressed in this voluntary review are based upon my experience reading this book.*
I was a bit down when I started this book. But the moment I started it, all my worries fell away and it cheered me right up! So the start definitely drew me in. Within pages I was chuckling out loud. This was exactly what I needed! A well-written book full of mystery and humor.
I love all the characters. Mitzy is awesome, Pye too, Ghost-ma a hoot, Silas amazing, and Erick, well, he is the ideal book-boyfriend! Mitzy and Erick are so cute together! I love their bond, it really pops off the page. And poor Ghost-ma, trapped in that pendant. Will Silas find a way? If anyone can do it, it is Silas, but it seems impossible.
The ending had me crying. Why? Just read for yourself, no spoilers from me!
Favorite quote, Mitzi’s reaction to Pye: “Ree-ow.” I’d like to believe that was his version of an apology, but honestly, it sounds more like a condescending acknowledgment of my fragile humanity.
Mitzi, Erick, and Ghost-ma are back with a murder to be solved. It all takes place during the annual town regatta on the lake. A superstorm hits and there are multiple deaths including one not caused by the storm. And, could there be a wedding? Read this book to find out. You could read this one as a standalone but why would you? The whole series is a lot of fun. Don't miss it.
absolutely another fantastic trip to pin cherry! Mitzy still amazes the reader. I could not put the book down, and, actually locked my bedroom door so I was not interrupted! like Trixie, I also want to move to pin cherry and sit on Mitzys' 3rd floor back deck, petting pye. a must read book in a do not miss series!
Another great read from this author and I feel that Mitzy Moon has turned a corner. She seems far more adult in this book and that could be something to do with her new relationship with the Sheriff. Her habits are the same but her persona is that of a mature woman now.
A hurricane is due to hit Pin Cherry at the last minute, just when the residents thought they’d be safe from the storm. Among those who lose their lives in the tragedy is one of the central characters from a previous story.
There’s a lot of lies and deceit as the young sleuth tries to get to the bottom of it all, although she has no time for the deceased. Erick is on hand with the muscle, support and advice but I feel like our young heroine has a firm hold of the reins now. Ghost-ma is desperate to escape from the necklace and Silas has a plan which may or may not work.
Recommended read and one of my favourite cozy series.
This was a twisty murder in more ways than one and I loved it. As if it wasn't dangerous enough to live in everybody favourite town of Pin Cherry harbour but to have a murder happen during a tornado was a fun twist, excuse the pun. I enjoyed the drama of getting everybody to safety and dealing with the aftermath, only to discover that not everybody made it. Then things got really interesting, as there are plenty of suspects. Misty Moon is one tough cookie and and has fun playing the part while trying to discover the truth, she might not have liked the victim but that won't stop her finding her killer. This is book 14 in the series and the characters just get better and better the more you get to know them. I did shed a few tears, but I cry at Disney film's, at a certain point in the story but I can't wait for the next adventure with the whole gang. Everybody is going ahead with plans for the midsummer sailboat regatta despite the storm warnings. Mitzy is assured that it always missed the small town of Pin Cherry harbour, that is until a tornado touches down and causes havoc. Mitzy and her boyfriend Sheriff Harper do what they can to save lives but even with there combined help lives are lost, especially ones on the boats in the regatta race. When it turns out one loss of life wasn't caused by the superstorm, Mitzy, her mood ring and intuitive cat are on the case. At the same time Silas works on freeing Ghost-ma from her trapped necklace. Can he set her free or is it time to really set her free? Mitzy puts on her highest heels in the hopes that it will help ghost-ma and help her get into character to catch a killer who thought he could use a storm to get away with murder. Not on Mitzy's watch. I like the narrator. She makes listening fun. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Castaways and Longer Days is the 14th book in the Mitzy Moon series by Trixie Silverdale. I listened to this book on audio, and I absolutely LOVED this book. This book was the emotional one for me and such a page turner.
A tornado lands in Pin Cherry right when the town is getting ready for the Midsummer Regatta. Pye goes missing and my heart just BREAKS, I love Pye. Mitzy's Ghostma has herself in a bit of a situation too. (NO SPOILERS)
I love Mitzy and Erick's relationship it really works so well but doesn't overtake the mystery.
There is murder and I love how Mitzy's psychic skills have grown so strong and how she uses them to solve the mystery.
The characters are well written, and the mystery is multi layered and exciting.
A great read. I definitely recommend reading the books in order to get more of the back story!
Another fantastic addition to this series! This is the first time I was able to predict an outcome to a book in this series, but not without a surprise twist first. Without spoiling the book, I was really hoping a character wasn’t going to go away and they didn’t. So maybe not so much a prediction, but maybe a wish come true?! I love that the book sucks you in and it’s an easy enough read to be able to finish it quickly. I love that there are always twists in the book that I don’t see coming. I often gasp or laugh while reading it. While this book could certainly be read alone, I recommend reading the series as they are just so good. The author does a great job giving a little background to each character to know where they fit in the story, but jot so much that it takes always from the story. Give the book a try and you’ll see what I mean. You will not be disappointed!
Mitzy and Erick just keep getting better and better. As the town gets ready for a sailboat regatta, Mitzy keeps hearing about a big storm coming in. Everyone says it will be no big deal, it never is. Then the storm hits and causes mass destruction. Along with one murder and many more deaths. As Mitzy and Erick help with the clean up, they are also investigating the murder. The victim is known to Mitzy and she did not like her, but she was murdered and Mitzy will find out who did it. Everyone seems to be lying to her and she must find out the truth. And they are still trying to get her grandma out of the amulet. Will they succeed?
When an F5 tornado hits Pin Cherry Harbor all hell breaks loose! Leticia Whitecloud who has crossed Mitzy several times in the past is found murdered! Mitzy is on the case. Can Silas release ghostma from the cursed necklace or will she cross over when they try. Many questions were answered in this book. I like that Mitzy & Erich’s relationship is finally progressing faster. I really enjoyed this book! There was drama, scary situations, romance, kindness & several red herrings! I highly recommend this book and this series!
Take one-part snark, one-part Gilmore Girls, one-part paranormal abilities then mix together and you get an absolutely delightful main character that you can't wait to dive into a mystery with headfirst! Once again Mitzy Moon is on the hunt for a murderer, but in the process will she finally use up all the good will and get not only her ghostly grandmother sent to the other side, but herself? Grab the audiobook and find out! I will say that the narrator does an outstanding job of bringing the characters to life and this series is on my absolutely must listen list!!!
The warm days of summer have arrived in Pin Cherry and it's time to celebrate until an unexpectedly violent storm changes everything.
As residents of Pin Cherry and tourists alike emerge from storm shelters, Mitzy and her dad join the effort to rescue the survivors of boats caught in the tempest. What they find is that not all of the casualties were a result of the storm. Someone has been murdered!
Trixie Silvertale has done it again as Mitzy, Sheriff Harper and Pyewacket lead us into another page turning, can't put it down adventure.
A real murder amidst the death and destruction of a natural disaster. Once again, these beloved characters are set to task all while bringing an emotional storm along with them. Each of these are standalone books, yet this author manages to level up with each and every tale. Oh so many ups and downs await you you within these pages! Stunned would be putting it mildly. Loved this and happily awaiting more! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Another gem from Trixie but for all you fans out there a word of warning- have a box of Kleenex on hand!!
Trixie has created a story of revenge and redemption in this latest book in the Mitzy Moon series and it is not to be missed!! The series just keeps getting better and better as the twists and turns and surprises will bring you joy and sadness both!
I wholeheartedly recommend this book and this series to one and all for both young adult and adult readers alike will embrace our heroes in this series! When you finish this book you really need to get the entire series so you can see how it all began and be introduced to each character as they make their appearance! There are exciting adventures waiting for you in each book and your love for this series will only grow the more books you read! These people won’t be just characters in a book anymore but your friends and you’ll laugh and cry at what befalls them!
I wonder how Trixie can “top” the previous book but she does every time! There are moments in this story that anyone who has lost a loved one can relate to without question as well as believing that even bad guys can make decisions which redeems them in the eyes of the readers.
If you haven’t gotten started on this series yet what are you waiting for? You will absolutely love this series I can guarantee! The stories and the characters will keep your interest throughout and the only letdown will be wanting to continue seeing what will happen next! Therefore why not get the box sets available and have them all together so you can go from one to the other with just a flip of a page?
I love this series and I can’t wait to see what Trixie will come up with next!!
Wonderful. This is the 14th book in Mitzy Moon's adventures.
While enjoying a sailboat regatta, a sudden huge storm hits. Pye, Mitzy's Caracal, is missing and her sherrif boyfriend doesn't believe her suspicions that evil is afoot. It's up to our intrepid hero to save the day.
You'll love this installment by Trixie Silvertale. Buy it and you won't be disappointed.
Wow! Another amazing adventure with Mitzy Moon and company. I thought her life was crazy enough before, but you throw in a tornado and that just sent it up a few more notches on the danger scale. While trying to solve another murder Mitzy still has to deal with fixing some things with Ghost-ma and also keeping things fun and flirty with Sheriff Erick, who is pretty much the perfect book boyfriend ever. Lots of action and adventure as always with Mitzy. There are also some really touching moments too. I love this series so much! I could honestly read Mitzy Moon books every day. Definitely a world that I love spending time in. I highly recommend!
Summer has arrived at Pin Cherry Harbour and the town is celebrating. Unfortunately, right in the middle of a boat race a tornado hits the town. Pyewacket goes missing and Mitzy can't find him. She has to trust that he is a very smart cat and can look after himself. Mitzy and every able-bodied person is out looking for survivors from the sunk and over-turned boats. It would seem that not all the deceased persons got that way from natural causes. Mitzy (of course) gets involved in solving the murder, even though she did not like the victim at all. Her psychic abilities come in very handy when talking to suspects.
This entire series is amazing! The characters are fun and engaging. Each story is original and fun. What makes each one so good is the way Silvertale makes use of descriptive words and phrases, such as, "The glorious hot water, luxurious steam, and rejuvenating eucalyptus bath products envelop me." Here's another: "You can smell the dread in the air. The six dim bulbs seem to hold the only flicker of hope as I gaze out over the sea of anxious faces." I feel like I'm right there with Mitzy Moon. The characters have become friends. The worry through the storm and the joys feel real. I definitely recommend this one as well as the rest of the series.
I thought this was another fun book in this series. Again Mitzy is growing emotionally, which makes her more likable. I'm excited to see where this goes next.
I am so glad I found this series!! Another great story. I loved the murder in the midst of a tornado. Living in the Midwest I’ve been through some tornados and it added some extra zest to the story. This one kept me guessing “whodunit” for some time. It was another great addition to the series and I can’t wait to read the next one!!
Book 14 and I just cannot get enough of the Mitzy Moon Mystery series which is so hilarious and makes for such fun reading, taking us away, if for a short while from our humdrum daily life. In this book our intrepid sleuth is out to have a great time experiencing her first summer regatta and bonfire night on the beach at Pin Cherry Harbor, however though many people turn up with the same high expectations a tornado hits Pin Cherry and all hell is let loose. Everyone rallies round as people seek shelter and safety but many lose their lives, boats are sunk and debris is all over the beautiful town. Many rally round to help clean up but Mitzy's clairvoyance warns her that at least one death is a murder case and she is off to see this solved. Of course Pyewacket as usual gives her a helpful hint to solve this very intricate murder case. More importantly though, the murder case is not the only thing that gets resolved in this book and the other issue is closer to Mitzy's heart and had mine worried sick about the outcome. I look forward to another of these fun amateur sleuth novels with Mitzy and her hunk of a boyfriend, the sheriff himself as the romance seems to be going places finally!
Wow! What an amazing addition to the Mitzy Moon Mysteries! In Castaways and Longer Days, Mitzy faces trouble like never before - there is a tornado heading toward Pin Cherry, a murder to solve, and the potential that Ghostma may be released from the amber pendant she was trapped in. Thank goodness for boyfriend extraordinaire, Sheriff Erick Harper! He is at the ready to help Mitzy with all things criminal and emotional. As always, sinking into a Mitzy Moon Mystery is like taking a mini-vacation with really awesome friends who attract adventure and danger in equal measure.
Another great Mitzy Moon book! Ghostma is still trapped in the necklace but the Pin Cherry regatta is happening so Mitzy takes Ghostma along. Weather warnings are out but tornados never make it here until today. Fortunately, Ghostma knows about the storm cellar. After the storm passes, the power is out and lots of people to rescue from the lake. Unfortunately, Mitzy finds a dead person who is probably murdered. I love these books!
I have read all the books in this series, and I declare this one the BEST yet. I read this one in one day. I could not put it down.
A tornado hits Pin Cherry Harbor. Amid the chaos, a body is found. Murdered. Another challenge for Mitzy Moon and her boyfriend Sheriff Erick Harper.
This installment of the series has a LOT of emotion. Mitzy and Erick’s romance moves forward. Ghost-ma’s Cuddlekins, aka Pyewacket, goes missing. Tears, rejoicing, more tears…You will need tissues for this one. I was kept in suspense right up to the end. But there are still those hilarious moments that make Mitzy so adorable.
Castaways and Longer Days is another fantastic book in an amazing series! I could not put the book down. This incredible book is so well written with vivid details it comes to life on the pages. The book is full of emotion, humour, quirky, strong characters, mystery and adventure. I love the characters and how their relationships develop though the series. I always love being in Pin Cherry. This book is a must read. I can't wait for the next book.
Another wonderful book is this amazing series. I love the character of Mitzy Moon and her ghost grandma. Trixie Silvertale is a amazing author. Highly recommend reading any or all of her books...
I love these books, and Castaways and Longer Days was a nice addition to the series! This book was well written and contained the same host of characters we already know and love! Trixie threw us on an emotional roller-coaster with this one though! No spoilers, but man my heart sank a few times. I was glad sheriff too hot to handle was there to help Mitzy through it all. I am so hoping this series ends with and epic wedding!! Can't wait for the next one!
This is my favorite one yet. Full of so many emotions. Amazing. Mitzy and her ghost-ma are my favorite duo and they have taken up full residence in my heart.
Mitzy gets put through the wringer with this book when a tornado hits Pin Cherry during the Summer Festival and amid the damage and chaos there is also a murder that Mitzy personally needs to solve. This series is so great and every book is a wonderful new adventure that I love and I can wait to see what happens next. There is a bit of everything in this one along with the murder that takes you on quite a ride.
