The Let’s Go books are great for getting out of the general tourist areas and finding the not to miss locations. It was great for my solo travels around the UK. I used it for my travels around England, Scotland, and Wales.

This book got me through a semester of living in Swansea, Wales and backpacking through Europe. Many of the recommendations are off the beaten path but give much more of a local's perspective of a city than most guide books do. I took a day trip to Greenwhich once on this book's recommendation, and it became one of the best trips of the semester. Howth, Ireland is one of my favorite towns because of this book, and although I didn't make it to Cork as originally planned, Let's Go offered many less known options that would have, most likely, endeared it to me as it did with many other cities. Also of much appreciation, the book included the routes of local rail systems including the the Tube in London. If it didn't offer maps of the systems, then it gave the name and basic information. I found it very helpful while trying to negotiate the DART in Dublin. I know that there are much newer editions of this book, and if they maintain the standards of their predecessor then they are certainly worth the investment. This book helped me make Britain my home. I hope that it is as good to everyone else.

A very well put together guide on the UK, especially for those on a budget.
