From Amazon best-selling author S. M. Stryker comes an emotionally riveting stand-alone romance.
Who would have thought a chance encounter would bring two strangers together that shared the same precious possession?
An inspiring story about life and love and the unforeseen powers that pulled two strangers together after loss.
She was his butterfly, a chance encounter. Little did they know just how much they shared with each other.
Emmy had lost not only her parents in a tragic accident but the treasured gift that her father gave to her on her 20th birthday.
She was good at her job but wanted more. She wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and was out to show the world that she could.
Delaney Madison was expected to follow in his father’s footsteps as a renowned cardiologist. But when his best friend dies, it changes his purpose in life. He had made a vow to her, and he would do everything in his power to honor it, even if it got him disowned.
Then he met his butterfly.
They were pulled together by chance but stayed together by love.
An Oregon native and Amazon international best-selling author, SM Stryker started writing as a way to explore the aspects of the human condition. Her stories take you on a personal journey in which her characters learn something about themselves, weaving true love stories about people destined to be together.
SM. Stryker is the dirty alter ego of a quietly introverted mortgage broker behind the stories. While she might be a wife (to her biggest cheerleader), mother of four adult daughters and grandmother of four on the outside, there's nothing but hot and steamy fantasies being plotted beneath the surface.
Known for her real-life emotionally charged, unpredictable, suspenseful but heart-warming page-turning romances novels, Stryker's stories touch on normally unspoken subjects. Her characters are strong, intense, and gut-wrenchingly real. Heroines that fight their demons to become survivors and their sexy but sensitive alpha hero's that will fight beside the women they love in their journey to find their own solace.
Stryker tries to use her platform as an author to raise awareness about sexual abuse of children and adults.
Although quiet by nature, she loves to hear from her readers!
She has shared more of the events of her life in many of her other books.

Emmy and Lane. He's an eye doctor and she has a bad eye. The story wastes a lot of time going over the same scenes from both MC's POV's. There's a ridiculous coincidence that brings up Emmy's sad back story that was so OTT it bordered on silly. Then there's another coincidence that was equally ridiculous that threatens to ruin their HEA.
In one evening and a medical emergency brought two together. Emma, an event planner, Delaney a eye doctor. Emma is not ready to open her heart, Delaney doesn't know if he can. Both have the same love of older classic cars. Will a big misunderstanding will destroy her love for him? Will she forgive him? I love the spark they have between them. The narration by Debbie Soelter was very good. She gave each character their own personality and voice. I enjoyed listening to this story. I was gifted this audio and offered my honest review.
Wink by S.M. Stryker is so much more than I expected. I loved the characters of Emmy and Lane, and found his nickname for her to be sweet. Their meeting in the mens restroom was so well done and added to the story. The storyline of this book really pulled me in and tugged at my heart. Obsidian and Raven played a huge part in this book too. This book is original and has a great storyline. The ending was perfect in this book. Debbie Soelter performed the story very well and brought the characters to life.
If you are looking for something short but entertaining, this is the book for you! Wink is a heartfelt story of two people, a chance meeting and coincidental circumstances! Emmy is an event planner who has a problem with her eye. Lane is an ophthalmologist who happens to be taken with her, and their story begins. Lane has a deep passion for his trade, and a loyalty to his best friend who passed away. To honor a promise they made to each other, he is planning an event to celebrate her life. Emmy is planning the event, but has not yet met the man she is planning it for. Emmy is great at her job, but it's not her passion. Together these two find each other, bringing out the happiness they deserve. I really loved the inclusion of the cars! Obsidian and Raven are amazing. It's fun, passionate, touching and I really enjoyed it.
Debbie Soelter is the narrator for this story. She is new to me, and though at times her pace was a little on the slow side, I enjoyed her voices and found her to have a great understanding of these two. She found their strengths, and played them perfectly with her inflections. A fun listen, this is one you don't want to miss.
I personally loved this short story. First of all because it's a short story and jumps right into the story with just the right amount of details. But also because of the content of the story itself. It's a sweet story of a girl with an issue that arises and a stranger who helps her. The twist to me is that the stranger is actually also a client but she doesn't know this. But there's more to it than that however I'm not good with writing reviews without giving the details and I really think you should just read the book. I do not think you would be disappointed, unless you are looking for a long drawn out story.
Call it what you will, fate, kismet, serendipity, some meetings just seem to be written in the stars! This can be an amazing thing...or NOT? Laughter and tears ahead! Great story!
This quick read was amazing and tugged at my heart strings. I do believe everything happens for a reason in life and so does Emmy and Lane. Another wonderful book from a wonderful author!
Daaam, started listening to this not remembering what the blurb was about and all I could think about is what a big ball of clichés this book turned out to be. But I didn't know it’s a total rip-off of The Wedding Planner movie. All the same set up for the two main characters and drama behind their story. All in all, let’s list all the clichés that made this story the just another boring romance soft fluff piece: • Girl finds boyfriend cheating, making her go into spinsterhood what with all the trust issues she has for men. • Boyfriend is screwing his secretary - mega cliché. • Making boyfriend a douche which allows for the moving on process for the h easy for the reader to accept. • Girl goes into a night club at the instance of her friend, cuz she’s a good girl and doesn’t do night clubs. • She lands herself in some trouble and needs some knight in shining armor rescuing. • Now it gets cliché and totally stupid cringy. Girl is blind and goes to secondary location with the guy just cuz he says he is trustworthy and is totally dreamy. • There is instant attraction and girls panties are wet at any word the hot man says. This is more of a cliché for the romance books style not for all romances as such. I’m curious what happens when these two have kids? How do they explain to their daughter how mom and pop met? “Well pumpkin I went to a club where drug use, drinking and asshole behavior is a given and then when I was totally blind your dad swept me off my feet and into his bed. And bam! Landed meself some hot doctor ass.” Seriously? With all the predators rooming around she would have had better chance getting killed. Is this the message we want to spread around for the sake of romance? Hell naw. I would say call the police girl. Safety first. As far as odds go I think she would have had better chances landing herself in someone’s basement and not in a rich doctors office. And what’s with the h calling her pu**y her picka? Is she of Slavic origin? Never is this explained or mention anywhere in the book. Does it seem less dirty if she uses a different language word for pu**y cuz she is such a prude? Does it make her seem all wordly and exotic for using 1 foreign word for a female organ? Well let me tell you it does none of that just raises some questions and makes the reader, or at least me lose interest in her.
This audiobook is 3 hours too long. After the 1st hour and the 2nd or so picka I started skipping till the end. Didn’t even want to see how this magical happily ever after winds up so didn’t even have the patience to listen to the last 3 minutes and just do not care. For the sake of all the future generations please do not fall for the flowery prose cliché stuff they trying to peddle in here. Is it too much to ask for a reasonable realistic women empowering modern believable romance instead of this unrealistic stuff?
Wink By: S. M. Stryker Narrated by: Debbie Soelter
This is my first S.M. Stryker book and will not be my last. She has a wonderful writing style, the storylines she created are interesting and captivated me from start to end. It is impressive how much story she fit into a novella sized book. It is a sweet and delightful story that has a whole lot of heart The characters are likable and easy to relate to. I adored Emmy and loved how she dealt with Derek in the prologue. She has suffered some heartbreaking losses and I admired her strength, how she got thru her grief, what she did with Raven and why. Delaney “Lane” Madison notices Emmy, when she bumps into him is drawn to her. Lane is a real sweetheart with a great demeanor, he also suffered a great loss and it changed his path in life but he is happy with what he does. A chance encounter brings these two together, they had something in common, a great and meaningful thing to Emmy so it may have been fate that brought them together. I loved how everything plays out in this book, there is never a dull moment, there is drama, a bit of angst, a whole lot of emotions, heartfelt moments and hot ones too. S.M. Stryker thank you for this fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audile edition, Debbie Soelter does a nice job narrating and bringing the characters and their story to life. You could hear how much heart she put into her work as she projected the characters emotions in to her performance. Thank you for the entertaining listen🎧
This is the first book by this author that I have read and I didn't really care for it. There are grammar errors that distract you while reading and some of the the words used were weird and took away from what was being said. The story is also told in a duel point of view, which got aggravating - Emmy is talking and then Lane is talking and it only changed a little - so it messed up the flow of the story. The characters also seemed younger then their ages.
Things happen in the story and your waiting on the suspense to build and grab your attention but it never does. The scene with Emmy and the car has you rolling your eyes.
The Epilogue was pretty interesting and does get your attention.
