I appreciated Margaret Jensen's homespun account of her years as a young nurse, providing the best care she could without the benefits of our current technology and research. I found this to be a book from which I could select chapters to read to my aunt during visits to her in the nursing home. For my own taste, however, it was a little too moralistic, with not enough room to chew on issues and form my own opinions.
This book took only a few hours to read. I enjoyed the humor and encouragement of a simpler day. however, the book seemed scattered to me. when we go from the graduation and marriage of a young nurse and skip all the way to the days when she has six grandchildren. I felt that we should have had more to fill in that huge gap and that the stories could have been ordered better.
