I appreciated Margaret Jensen's homespun account of her years as a young nurse, providing the best care she could without the benefits of our current technology and research. I found this to be a book from which I could select chapters to read to my aunt during visits to her in the nursing home. For my own taste, however, it was a little too moralistic, with not enough room to chew on issues and form my own opinions.

This book took only a few hours to read. I enjoyed the humor and encouragement of a simpler day. however, the book seemed scattered to me. when we go from the graduation and marriage of a young nurse and skip all the way to the days when she has six grandchildren. I felt that we should have had more to fill in that huge gap and that the stories could have been ordered better.

Another book from my grandmothers collection.

An interesting story, or series of stories perhaps about the authors career as a nurse starting in the 1930s all the way to her retirement.

Another one of those books that helps me understand her better and give me a new perspective on life and nursing back then.
