Screaming Creatures by Sean M. Thompson is a collection of stories that really shows off this author’s range! From the unsettling and spooky tales, to the bizarre and fever dream-like tales, there’s something for everyone here.

Each of these tales had such awesome pacing! I was hooked with every one. If I was tempted to pick this one up to read a bit of one story, I knew I would need to wait until I finished the specific tale I was on before I could put it down again.

Horror fans are sure to find something in this collection that really sticks with them! This is a great read any time of the year, but it’s especially fun reading it during the spooky season of October.

I just finished reading Sean M Thompson's "Screaming Creatures," and I would recommend this collection to all horror fans. These are horror stories, so you know going into it that something terrible is going to happen to these characters, but Thompson knows how to play with the tension to keep you guessing as to what will happen next. The title story left me more freaked out than I expected. It's an intense fall into madness on a global scale. "Kiss of the Succubus" was my favorite story. It had a great noir vibe to it and I think it would make for a great book series.

*I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Screaming Creatures is the latest collection from Sean M. Thompson and Nictitating Books and is a FIVE star read from me. From unsettling naked strangers in 'Sunny Village' to a world lost to insanity in the titular story 'Screaming Creatures', Thompson takes you on a journey through creeps, chills, horrors, and unbelievable terror.

Thompson's writing is swift and engaging, a style that you can trust to keep you locked in with characters and events at all times. The tones of the stories are wide ranging but always with an undercurrent of tension that is enough to turn your stomach. The thrill of a secretarial job for a blood thirsty employer, the cold yearning for a connection with strangers - you'll find a story that hits a nerve.

The final story of the collection ‘Screaming Creatures’ is a tale of a world infected by madness, and one that reflects all too much our current situation. Seemingly a virus with unknown origins infects the world, though they never find out how it is spread, but instead of physical sickness here it is insanity, irrationality, and violence that push our world over the edge, turning us all into nothing but screaming creatures… or maybe we already are.

I have read all of Sean Thompson’s work...”Screaming Creatures”is by far the best. This collection of short stories spans so many different landscapes as well as characters. The highlight of the book is the short called “Screaming Creatures.” This short story hit way too close to home with the pandemic raging. This would make a terrific Twilight Zone episode.
Read this book in daylight....I read half of the book on a sunny CapeCod beach and still got creeped out.
Bravo!

Funny, gruesome and occasionally heart-rending. From Lovecraftian horror to technology scares and a very very strange job interview- this unforced and naturally diverse anthology has at least one or more stories that will resonate with you. There are Charlie Stross and Jeff Strand Gonzo humor moments as well as noir pastiches with modern casting and there’s also some beautiful and visceral literary horror. While not a themed anthology- It’s a rollicking fun horror read! Not as serious or intense as much of Thompson’s works, a quality collection of short fiction

Great Variety of Stories!

I loved how many different stories were contained in this collection! The subject matter covered so much ground, and the feeling of dread just sticks with you throughout the whole thing 😬
