Danielle M Haas is a stay-at-home mom turned author. When she isn’t writing fast-paced romantic suspense novels with mysteries to live for and romance to die for, she’s busy being a taxi driver to her two busy kids and forcing her introverted self to talk to other soccer moms. Her kids and husband are her world, which is also shared with her hyper Bernie doodle, two sassy cats, and one leopard gecko who’s happy to chill on a rock all day. Her days are packed with cuddles, kisses, and a brain constantly thinking of new ways to create danger and romance for her next book.
I got the privilege of reading the ARC of this really fun romantic suspense. The story was super heart pounding and action-packing. I totally needed to see what happened next. I appreciated the little bit of Chicago history weaved into this. And the suspense! WOW! You know something was right there, under the surface, but it was weaved in so well…totally loved.
Mickey and Graham have great chemistry. Their flirting and banter was sexy and adorable. The crack about the "un-creative" nicknames they came up with for each other made me laugh and the “Don’t Stop Believing” scene-LOVED. And all the “will they won’t they,” made me HAVE to keep reading.
They’re both awesome characters. Graham is complex and clever. Mickey is super fabulous. I adore that she’s a tough cookie, but emotionally, I really felt for her through all she had to deal with and overcome in the book. I am so glad I got to read and I would totally recommend!
Mickey O’Shay ‘s life is just about to get a little more complicated. Not only was she is the middle of a hijacked plane with FBI Agent Graham Grassi, but now her goddaughter has been kidnapped along with two other children in a suspected sex trafficking ring in Chicago. The agent assigned to the case is none other than Graham. Graham does not trust the firey red head especially since her ex-boyfriend is suspected of being behind the kidnapping. But, Graham can’t prevent himself from falling hard for Mickey despite her involvement in the case. Can Mickey and Graham work together to find the missing children and learn to trust one another in the process?
I really am a huge fan of romantic suspense and with that being said, I really set the bar high when I am reading a book in this genre. Danielle M. Haas has penned a stellar suspense with her storyline that gripped me right away. I found myself invested in the story of the three missing girls and working my mind around who can be behind the entire sex trafficking ring. Hass did a wonderful job at leaving me guessing right up until the end. She throws a few red herrings in your way and when the final reveal comes it is shocking.
I love the history of Chicago that Haas incorporates into her story. I am a big history buff and reading about the underground tunnels really held my interest and really had me wanting to go do my own internet search to learn more about the tunnels that are so richly used in this book.
While, I did love the suspense and the history part of the book, I am not sure I enjoyed the romance aspect quite as much. Graham and Mickey are great characters on their own, but together their romance did not grab me the way I wish it had. Their romance almost seemed forced and I never really felt a connection to Graham and Mickey falling for each other throughout the course of the story. I just felt like they had no chemistry together.
Bound By Danger is a gripping suspense with a lot of action surrounding a heart breaking scenario. If you are a fan of suspense then you will enjoy reading this story. For me, the suspense really is the heart of this book.
Fast paced action packed romantic suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. The fact that this is the debut book for this author truly blows me away. Looking forward to what she has for us in the future. The writing is exceptional and the suspense element of the story is top notch. Never predictable with lots of twists that will keep you guessing. Mickey and Graham are intriguing characters with amazing chemistry even though their first meeting was a little rough. When they are brought together again after Mickey's goddaughter is kidnapped the spark between them flares to life. Overall a fantastic story with great characters. Definitely a book I recommend.
This is a fast paced romantic suspense that hooks you in right from the beginning! Mickey O’Shay is a flight attendant involved in an attempted hijacking which is thwarted by FBI Special Agent Graham Grassi. She certainly didn't expect to be seeing him again so soon but this time he's there informing her about the kidnapping of her goddaughter by her ex-boyfriend, Pete. Graham can't decide whether she's involved or not as Pete is part of a sex trafficking ring responsible for kidnapping at least two other young girls locally. The race is on to locate the girls before any serious harm befalls them but there are others involved and Mickey is also in danger from members of the ring who are wary of what Pete might have revealed to her...
The danger the young girls are in, the secrets being revealed and the romance that Mickey and Graham are struggling to ignore make this an enthralling read which keeps you guessing till very near the end. The characters are well developed. Graham is torn between following his heart or his head when it comes to Mickey. She is riled by his initial attitude toward her and is determined to both clear her own name and to rescue her beloved goddaughter. This results in some unfortunate decisions but all add to the adventure and suspense. It is a brilliant debut novel and I'll definitely look forward to reading more by this author in future!
I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.
Loved this book! It opened with fast, edge of your seat action, and maintained a fast pace throughout the book. Mickey is a flight attendant when a hijacking takes place, while Graham is an FBI agent on the plane that jumps in to assist. When their paths continue to cross with one of Graham's cases, they are both smitten, however Graham can't trust her. Yet, because Graham doesn't trust her, Mickey will do anything to clear her name and find her Goddaughter. This puts them at cross-purposes and adds to the tension between them.
This book hooked me from the first page and kept me hooked until the very last page. I liked the characters and felt invested in their story. I couldn't put this one down and found myself reading late into the night.
Fans of the genre will love this novel. Put it at the top of your TBR list. While this is the first book I've read by this author, it won't be the last as I'm looking forward to reading her future books.
Ha! Have you ever been in a situation where someone just rubs you the wrong way and you don't want to be around them at all? That is how Mickey feels while she is on duty about on of her passengers on board the flight. As a flight attendant, Mickey still has to be cheerful and wait on the guy that is super rude and annoying. While she is internally fuming, Mickey steps over toward the front of the plane. Suddenly the entire mood of the book shifts, as a man gets up and walks into the cockpit as soon as the pilot steps out for a bathroom break. Whew!!! The entire book from that point moves forward with the annoying guy coming to the rescue (oh did I mention he is FBI Special Agent Graham Grassi?)
Agent Grassi, oh come on ladies and gents let's call him Graham is on a mission and in a tight spot as he seems to constantly land himself in trouble with his boss. Chasing down clues on a sex trafficking ring in the area keeps him awake on the few nights he has a chance to sleep. Now Mickey, the flight attendant on the plane, is mixed up in a missing person's case. He tries to fight off his attraction for his prime suspect, but things keep happening that land him in hot water and make her look guilty.
I think in many ways, Mickey represents who we want to be in times of trauma and chaos. When investigated by the FBI, I think I would want to come across as strong... If it was my god daughter that was missing, I would move heaven and earth to find her...but I am not sure I would have the courage or the knowledge of what to do. Mickey does have the courage we all strive for and when opportunities were presented, she took them and ran with them! (Of course, she often needed rescuing too.) I hope in real life, I don't need rescuing...and I hope to have half of Mickey's courage.
This book was fast paced , and well written. I admit there were probably many liberties taken along the ride to present fiction in its most palatable form to the masses... There did not seem to be internal investigation from the airlines after the plane incident and Mickey was flying again as a flight attendant just a day or so later. Still, this is a debut novel AND I did NOT guess who the bad guy was in Bound by Danger..so WIN, WIN for me! Hope you enjoy Bound by Danger by Danielle M. Haas.
Thank you to NetGalley, Danielle M. Haas, and Entangled Published for the opportunity of reviewing Bound by Danger. As always, my opinions are my own.
This book grabbed me by the throat from the first scene and the tension only escalated from there! Danielle Haas’ debut novel is a gem. She definitely has a great grasp of what it takes for a heart-pounding romantic suspense. Graham Grassi is the kind of flawed hero I love. He’s so busy trying to right wrongs that he has trouble when face to face with life. I had a few problems with Mickey, the heroine, who seemed immature at times, but with the best of intentions. All in all, this is a great beginning for the career trajectory of Danielle Haas. Well done!
Wow! This Debut by Haas lept off of the page for me and pulled me into the thick of suspense. When Mickey's goddaughter goes missing––suspected of being kidnapped by a sex-trafficking ring––the flight attendant finds the only person that can help get the little girl back asshole passenger Graham. Did I mention that he also saved the plane and its passengers from crashing when the suspect he's tailing hijack's the plane?
Because, yeah.
From the first chapter, the story had me hooked. Graham and Mickey are nicely fleshed out and the chemistry between them is undeniable. There are so many twists and turns, you'll be giving your grandma side-eye wondering if she's involved. The writing is top notch and flows in a way that you don't want to put the story down. I don't want to ruin it for everyone so I'll leave it at that.
But I'll definitely be on the lookout for more books by Danielle M. Haas. Way to Debut, girl.
I was provided an advanced reader copy by Entangled Publishing in exchange for honest review. All opinions are genuine and my own.
This is one of those books that just gets more interesting, the further along you get. It reached a point where I just could NOT put it down. That ending though... partly what I'd begun to expect, but at the same time, I was completely caught off guard. Does that make sense?
Either way, you MUST add this to your TBR. By far one of my favorite romance/suspense novels.
I loved Danielle's debut novel! Fast paced with memorable, realistic characters, Bound by Danger kept me turning the pages until the very end. MIckey and Graham's story features solid writing, and the plot has so many twists and turns it keeps you guessing until the last page! I can't wait until her next book!
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Bound by danger is an edge-of-your-seat thrilling read. I couldn’t put it down! From the very first page I was riveted by the expert writing and completely invested in the story and characters. Mickey and Graham’s romance is a hot, slow-burn that leaves you completely satisfied. Graham is a total swoon-worthy hunk—who doesn’t love a man in uniform?! And Mickey’s fiery no holds barred attitude made this heroine one to admire. The plot had many unexpected twists that kept me turning the pages and rooting for Mickey and Graham to fall in love. This is a very well done romantic suspense. I’ll be keeping my eye out for more work from this author!
This is one of the books that had me gripped from the first chapter till the very end! I really enjoyed reading the story and I liked how characters were built, their interactions and chemistry. I have a feeling that I will enjoy in the next books by this author too. from the simple reason that I like her writing style
Mickey, a stewardess, and Graham, an FBI agent, work together to thwart a hijacking, saving everyone on board and ensuring the man responsible will pay for his crimes. Though both, despite the gravity of the situation, feel an instant connection to each other, neither are able to act on it. But it seems fate has more in store for them, and, unfortunately, it's another potentially tragic situation.
Graham loves his job, though not the parts where he has to deliver bad news to the families, and this is one such case. When informing a woman her young daughter, Becca, has been kidnapped, and it's by a man suspected of doing the same to other girls, he's surprised to realize Mickey is her godmother.
Mickey is excited to see Graham again and hopes it's because he wants to act on their attraction, but she never expected he was there to tell her Becca has been taken...by Pete, Mickey's ex-boyfriend. As if that isn't bad enough, she soon realizes Graham is questioning her part in all of it, including the situation that first brought them together.
While the attraction between them continues to grow stronger, Graham can't quite let go of his doubts, and when other things occur that further paint Mickey in a guilty light, he struggles with his desire to be with her while wondering if she's truly innocent. Mickey is determined to find Becca, whether anyone helps her. Though she doubted Pete, a man she'd once been intimate with, and had brought into Becca's life, could be responsible, the evidence doesn't lie.
As Graham and Mickey work together, sort of, to rescue Becca and the others, the growing feelings between them can no longer be denied. However, even though Graham now knows Mickey is completely innocent and a victim in her own way, the obstacles aren't over. Graham realizes his trust in someone has been unfounded and innocents may pay for that.
Can Graham and Mickey save the girls? Will they find everyone responsible and make them pay for their part? Will Becca's mom, Mickey's best friend for decades, ever forgive Mickey for unknowingly introducing Pete into their lives? Will Graham and Mickey get their HEA?
One-click now and follow along as two people cross paths due to dangerous situations and discover the greatest danger may be to their hearts. I loved this book! Loved it! It has joined my go-to-reread list and I can't wait for more from this author.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
What started off as a plane high jacking turned into a trafficking ring was a little different; for me a bit confusing in the first two chapters. I wasn’t sure where we were headed. But I soon understood and really enjoyed the story.
The dialogue between Graham and Mickey was very realistic and steady to where you didn’t miss a beat. They were spot on. The chemistry was there right from the time they met on the plane. You could tell that there was a live spark. The characters were both strong when needed and vulnerable when needed. Mickey was portrayed as a strong women yet when she fell apart she showed the strength of a strong women but also the need to have someone to lean on. The perfect embodiment of what a woman is.
I really enjoyed the adventure of the story along with the entertainment value of the story. It was a bit overwhelming at times with the basis of the storyline. What with the kidnapping young girls. It was a hard subject to deal with at times but Ms. Haas wrote it with a lot of empathy so that it was easy to deal with. She put it out there that this was a problem but wrote it with a gentleness that made it easier to deal with.
Graham and Mickey were always a step behind so you knew that finding everyone and righting the wrong was inevitable.
Along with well thought out characters the background and descriptions were easy to visualize. I enjoyed this story from beginning to end. It kept me guessing while keeping me entertained.
**I received a copy of Bound by Danger from Entangled Amara and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
Bound by Danger by Danielle M. Haas is the first and debut book by the author. The author took a straight out of the news incident Hijacking of an airplane, human trafficking, and FBI agent who saves the day. But I have to agree with a previous reviewer that having Mickey going off on her own without Graham was a bit out there. All in all the entire plot and story is worth 3.8 stars.
Mickey O'Shay knows that something is going to go wrong on her short flight but little does she know that one of the passengers would get to the flight deck and try to crash the plane. When she finds out that the FBI agent, attempted hijacking, a former boyfriend and her goddaughter are all in related, she becomes a suspect. But will they survive attempts by the real kidnappers all while trying to save the 3 girls before being sex trafficked by a world wide ring?
Graham Grassi is trying to back on his bosses good side after a epic mess in Arizona. Solving this case of missing young girls will be just the golden ticket he needs. But foiling a hijacking and trying to keep Mickey on the straight and narrow will take a back seat when he finds a leak within his own FBI task force. But when the sparks fly between the two of them he must try to keep them focused and also find out who the leak is plus find the missing girls.
FBI Special Agent Graham Grassi, unwillingly joins forces with Mickey O’Shay, who has inserted herself into his current case. Young girls are being abducted and when one of those girls is Mickey’s goddaughter, she won’t rest until Becca is safe. Mickey, a stewardess, first meets Graham on a plane when a man attempts to hijack the plane. She learns that Graham is an FBI agent as they work together to take the man down while the pilot lands the plane. She never thought she would see him again, but when her goddaughter is kidnapped, she learns that a man she had once dated is the one who took Becca, along with two other girls. Time is short for him to find the girls and wherever his investigation leads him, he finds Mickey. Is she involved in the abduction ring? Now he is trying to not only find the girls, but keep Mickey safe. He is doing his best to avoid the feelings of attraction that he has for her while she won’t rest until Becca is home. Mickey has no concern for her own safety as she puts herself in danger, time and time again. In addition to his worry over Mickey, it seems that his job may also be in danger. For some reason, his supervisor is threatening Graham’s career and he has no reason why. Will he find the missing girls and keep the woman he has come to love, safe? A thriller from beginning to end! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
I've received a ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
A hijack airplane that changed the lives of Mickey and Agent Graham Grassi starts this action packed suspenseful romance novel. But is there a connection between the hijaced plane and the kidnapped Goddaughter who is believed to be sextrafficed by an Mickey ex-boyfriend? Well that's what the FBI thinks and she's a prime suspect. To prove her innocence, Mickey is doing everything she can to solve the case and save her Goddaughter, but that proves to be a challenge when Agent Grassi steps into the picture and sparks fly.
The overall content was enjoyable but Mickey overstepping her boundaries by playing detective was a turn off. "You’re a flight attendant, not a cop” and “You should leave this to the police” are two quotes that best describe the situation. I understand you want to prove your innocence and save someone you love, but hiding evidence and playing Sherlock Holmes is only going to render the investigation and make you look guilty. Despite that flaw, was a nice read if your looking for a suspense romance novel.
While I liked the romance, I was really annoyed with Mickey getting in the way of the investigation. There were times, that if she had just called Graham, they could have caught the kidnappers and the one time that she did call him, she ran and hid and left the attacker! She had a gun, and she ran and hid and the attacker ran away but when she goes out other times, she is just too reckless.
I get that she is feeling guilt for bringing this man into Becca's life and feels it is all her fault. We later learn that she was targeted for her relationship with Becca. What I never saw explained (and sorry if I missed this) but they kept saying that the kidnapper broke out of his routine and gave Mickey his real name. Never saw the reason for that explained.
Lots of drama, intrigue, misdirection, and lots of action along with the growing attraction between Graham and Mickey. I know this is just a romance but an FBI agent should not be sleeping with a suspect in a kidnapping case!
I’m impressed this is the author’s first published book. The writing, flow and pacing are all well done. The momentum is fast from the first page. The plot idea was suspenseful with several coincidences to keep me on my toes to find the connections.
Aside from those mechanics, my primary issue was I didn’t like the h/Mickey which made it increasingly frustrating as the story went along. Not liking her led me to also not feel a connection with the H/Graham, who I did like. Mickey started off strong then became needlessly reckless, inconsistent, impulsive, and senseless. She lacked self-awareness about her selfish actions and her defensiveness veered her right into TSTL territory. She became the cliche girl in the horror movie who leaves the house or car when she’s told to stay put. Girl, you gonna die.
Overall, I’m impressed with a promising new author and looking forward to her development.
2.5
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review.
When Special Agent Graham Grassi is on a flight he’s on assignment. A hijack takes place and a flight attendant helps control the situation. A problem arises when he and his partner must meet with the mother of her missing daughter. It’s horrible to say the least, and the situation around it is even worse. The mother tells them she went off with someone she knows. Her best friends ex-boyfriend. It’s Mickey the same flight attendant he just met, and her goddaughter. What transpires is she has no clue about any of this. She feels like she’s being accused of being a criminal. Mickey will do anything to find Becca, and bring her home safely.
A big twist at the end. It was a happy, sad, and maybe one little thing missing at the end. I wanted a scene between Becca, Mickey and Suzi her best friend.
The cover of the book intrigued me since I worked 16 years in an airline and love anything with planes. The premise of a hijacked airplane, a flight attendant helping out and an FBI agent that has not reported a gun on board, just did not sit well with me. Then she and the back end crew are back to work the next day without an internal evaluation , and SA Graham Grassi kissing her less than 24 hours later while he’s investigating her as a potential suspect in a kidnap? But this is fiction , so liberties are permitted. The plot was suspenseful , but the main characters never appealed to me and their relationship was a rollercoaster ride. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
In this debut novel, I read the first chapter and couldn’t stop. The fast pace and suspense keeps the pages turning. There is immediate chemistry between the two leads. It’s a almost terrorist turns sex-trafficking ring investigation turns who done it.
I work in a law enforcement related field so I had to relax my standards of realistic plots like I do for many suspense novels. That said, if you’re willing to go along for the ride, it’s a nice rollercoaster of twists and turns that keeps the pages turning. Did I guess who did it in the end? Yes. Was I sure? Nope. And that’s what makes a good suspense. I received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review.
Being this was the first time in reading this author it was also one I was delighted to have come across. The storyline caught my eye it was right up my alley. Especially since there happens to be this special agent whom is looking into a case that gets the ole intrigue a going. Graham is that agent with you stuck to him like glue but there is also Mickey whom like me would not sit still in that situation. Going along with these two in this one you are pulled in wanting to see where this all leads. This author knows how to mix great characters with a story that captures you from beginning to end.
Awesome story. FBI agent and Air Hostess track down human traffickers. So good!
When FBI special agent Graham Grassi helps land a hijacked plane and meets hostess Mickey, they didn't know it would lead to human trafficking.
I really enjoyed the stubborn, wilful Mickey with the super capable protective Graham. They were like chalk and cheese but worked so well together. I liked that this was more story than the steamy side. They worked hard to be together.
Great plot full of danger, drama, and suspense with a great twist at the end. So well done, a real credit to Danielle. Fantastic book!!
Bound by Danger throws Graham and Mickey together in a life-and-death situation—and it only gets muddier from there. You really empathize with Mickey as she unwittingly brings danger to the people she loves. At times, you want to applaud her… and at others, you struggle with her stubbornness when she refuses to see logic—yet somehow still gets results. Graham is a highlight, making you smirk as he can’t seem to catch a break from Mickey—or get her out of his mind. Their dynamic keeps things engaging even as the tension builds. Together, they unravel a suspense-filled story that has you holding your breath.
This story drew me in from the first few pages with the hijacked plane. A romance suspense about three girls being kidnapped, this had me turning the pages until the end.
I loved the character of Graham. He is hot and everyone will fall in love with him. Graham and Mickey had amazing chemistry.
If you love a good romance with a crime story line, I would fully recommend this.
Wow! Riveting from start to finish. Graham and Mickey face danger head on and fall in love as a result. The author keeps the reader on your toes trying to guess to villain right upon till the time she reveals it. It was a surprise well earned. The plot is fast paced and the dialogue is well developed. Get set for a wild adventure with a happy ending.
It was a very interesting book in my opinion. I am a big fan of suspense but there were some things that I thought was odd and maybe it's just me. He thought she was a suspect but yet was kissing her and the situation happened and the next day all was well but it is fiction so there is that. Good book otherwise.
This was an amazing read, that I could not put down. It moves along at a great pace which made for an easy and enjoyable read. These characters are amazing and no matter what happens you want to love them and you want to be there for them. This book has to be read, there is no doubt about it. This book will grab you and keep you interested and reading. This book will not disappoint.
