While people with addictions suffer, those who are caregivers for them often suffer more. In her book, Codependent No More, Melody Beattie describes how caring for someone else can damage you when you care too much. Some of these pages were hard to swallow. It is unapologetically true and important for anyone who has a people pleasing attitude, or doesn't find the importance in taking care of themselves.
