Alison the human and Jamie the lovable bear.
Again with the ugly cover art!
So Alison and Jamie are not being honest. Alison is pretending to help the Alliance but is actually the daughter of a Sons of Domnall leader. In fact, she and Jamie share a history and it ain't pretty.
Yet despite the set up for an angst-fest, the story stays low key. Alison grew up being indocrinated about the evils of shifters. Jamie lives with the guilt of something from his childhood that he can never change.
A little more action packed than the previous books, this was a fun addition to the story. Some foreshadowing that all within the Alliance isn't hunky dory.
There is also no closure really for Jamie's childhood tragedy. But there will be answers in book 4.

This book is definitely my favorite of the first three books. This is what I wanted in the other 2…Jamie and Alison actually spent time together and you could feel an immediate connection between them. It didn’t hurt that there was also a small past between them, and that Jamie had been dreaming of her since he was 12 years old. So the connection was there for me.
Plus, the suspense part of the story was extremely well done, keeping me on the edge of my seat as to how things would go down since Alison was torn between the two sides.
And I’m looking forward to reading the next book about Jamie’s brother!

Se nei volumi precedenti avevamo avuto relazioni proibite, tra umana e mutaforma e mutaforma di specie differenti, qui torna in auge la buona vecchia triade umana/mutaforma/nemici.
Infatti, se Jamie milita nell’Alleanza, Alison, la nostra protagonista, è stata introdotta dal padre e dal fratello tra le file dei Figli di Domnall, e non solo: il suo ruolo è quello di spia, ma riuscirà a portare a termine la sua missione quando il suo cuore verrà rapito da colui che dovrebbe odiare più di ogni altro?
Andando avanti nella serie la trama si infittisce sempre più e purtroppo questo significa che anche i buchi e le mancanze della storia si fanno più evidenti e passarci sopra diventa sempre più difficile. Jamie e Alison sono una bella coppia, sicuramente la più complessa e passionale tra le tre conosciute finora e con un passato comune tragico (cosa sempre intrigante… seppur ancora risolta all’acqua di rose!), e ho apprezzato il coraggio di Alison nel momento decisivo. Mi ispira molto anche il personaggio del misterioso Adrian Blacke, a capo del Consiglio dell’Alleanza e che spero di rivedere presto come protagonista.
L’editing come sempre risulta poco curato, forse solo lievemente migliore rispetto ai precedenti, ma lo stile è sempre fresco e scorrevole e bilancia gli errori (orrori) grammaticali.
Divertente vedere lo svolgersi degli avvenimenti del secondo volume dagli occhi smaliziati e ironici di Jamie, diciamo che la coppietta Aidan/Heidi non è discreta come pensa! Il voto scende di una stella, ma la speranza è l’ultima a morire e confido sempre nel prossimo capitolo della serie.

If you love angst, this is not the series for you. I'm not a fan of angst, so am really enjoying it, even if the lack of upset isn't really believable. But then, shifters aren't real either, so why quibble? In this third novelette, Aidan's boss finds himself mated . Although, there isn't much surprise in the identities of each, or how they relate to each other without them previously realizing it.
I liked Alison as a character--she has gone along with things, but was never a true believer. This makes her transition easier, but the impact on her family is not glossed over. Yes, serious and dangerous events occur in this series, but the characters get on with their lives, even if haunted or worried about a situation.
This book had more direct action and less narration than the previous one, though the overall light touch remains the same.

When your world changes for the better or at least rights itself to the perception you had as a child. Alison finds that what has been instilled in her most of her life has been a skewed portion of the reality they lived in. Jamie life has been shaped by an event that occurred twenty years before. Fate intervenes and brings the two back together again with different outcome.

This part of the series fills in a few blanks from Jamie past with a lead to his long lost family member. Things come to a head with The Sons of Domnall and Alliance as they go head to head bring back one of their own. Way more is lost then lives leave family torn in to. Alison is about to get some home truths that won’t settle to well with a few and leaves her life up in the air pulled in to different direction she is going to have to make some very tough decisions. In this book you find out what Jamie is hiding from his fellow Alliance’s. He has had some trying times which leave him with many sleepless nights. He Knows Alison is hiding something as well as who she really is but it seem he is hiding something as well.
Mr. Blackthorne’s narration was very good with interesting character voices that blends well with the story. His male voices are just as good as his female’s one. You always know who is talking and what their emotions are. There was one place in book 1 and 3 where I could tell the volume changed just enough that you could tell if you were listening. I am guessing this is when a break was taken. Book 2 and 4 there are a one place where he repeated a few words which most likely is another place he took a break.Other than that the volume was very even throughout the audio. There are no background noises this is a very clear and clean audio. Mr. Blackthorne has a very nice voice his normal voice is just as great as his characters ones. I have to say for a man he does a very lovely female voice. His voice did pull me in making me feel comfortable and right at home. I had no trouble picturing when Clarice first sees the bear and feeling her emotions. The author does an outstanding job with the passionate scenes really giving the first night of love true emotions. I haven’t had the pleasure of listening to his work but to look forward to listening to more of it.
I enjoyed getting to know past characters better and seeing how things were going for them. Alison and Jamie’s story is very touching and at the same time heartbreaking. I am looking forward to the next book in this series to find out just how Mattie turned out. Even though so much as been gained so much has been lost. So many people pulling on wives tales no one knowing just what the truth is makes you wonder just what The Sons of Domnall is basing their information on.

There is a little mystery and a little action as the two groups go head to head more than once making you hold your breath wondering who will end up on top if any of them will. The ending is very touching but at the same time very heartbreaking.

Wow ever such a Romeo and Juliet story more than this. Jamie the leader of a group called the alliance who are out to stop a group of extremists who hate shifters on site. Built by years of fore told legends and myths and learned hatred the sons of Domnal have been abducting and harming/killing shifters for years. Allison is placed in the middle. She knows only what she has been fed by her dad and brother which goes to show how hatred is perpetuated without any actual factual based knowledge. She is drawn to Jamie as is he to her. They are fated mates and know she is backed into a corner. As part of the sons of domnal she should hate Jamie but she learns all that she knew was not fact as she thought and she opened herself up to different ways of thinking. Loved their star crossed lovers story. So sad about how she was complacent and almost forced at a young age to participate in taking Matty. Can’t wait for that story.

There’s something two dimensional about these stories. I like the characters and the fated mates thing, but the way these characters react to the conflicts just rings false. Maybe it’s just rushed and lacking in depth or something. Can’t put my finger on it but it’s just too something that makes suspension of disbelief impossible.
However each one ends with a strong lead into the next, and they are not expensive, so I will probably finish the series.

Better than the first (by far!) and second books in this series; for one, there were more dialogues, which always makes a book more interesting than just a narration. Then there was actually a bit more action in the ongoing war between the Alliance and the Brothers.
However, again - with not even 100 pages you just cannot call this a book, or a short story, and personally, I think even the word novella is flattering.

A Lovely Re-read!
Another re-read, the whole series, in order. So glad I’m doing it, not just to leave a review, but I thourghly enjoyed reading this book the first time, and actually picked up a couple of new things too. Loved the action, and the mate recognition, and all that entails!! This is a book that can be read multiple times and enjoyed each time!!

The publisher's blurb is rather extensive, so no need for a recap. The deep personal conflict that the main characters feel is managed very well and the story grabs you and makes you finish it in one sitting. Excellent!

Dnf. Book one in this series was my favorite. Book two I just got thru. I couldn't get into it. And I kept in scanning forward to get to a better part. book 3 I just couldn't get into it and I DNF.

Judging a Book by it's Cover:
Same great, vibrant colors as the first two novellas. This bear looks much less friendly. The composition of the model looks very unnatural and rather blobulous. Synopsis states it can stand alone, but this series reads more like a serial, where one one links onto and continues to the next. Definitely better to read from the beginning and in order.
Looking Deeper:
Third-person POV narrative. Jamie is a werebear and the Alliance leader in Edinburgh. Alison is the human "informant". Both have secrets. Secondary characters consist mostly of those we've met or have been told about in the previous two novellas.
The lead characters are only just strong enough to carry the novella. I'm not sure what it is about this installment of the "series", but it fell a bit flat for me. As with this series, the chemistry is magnetic and attraction is immediate. Maybe because a chunk of the plot was already preset in the last book? Maybe because we know almost all of the characters? I'm not sure. The secondary cast was supportive and provided crucial gap-fillers. The plot felt flat; without the dimension and dynamics one would hope for in a longer story, but it *is* a quick read and provided enough content to make it through. The first third of the book lagged, but the pace eventually picked up and finally provided a smooth ride. There were some conflicts, but there's really no going against the mating bond, so in actuality, the conflicts are rendered moot. A minor secondary story line is cast out and resolved within the primary story, also giving indication that it'll be the next book in the series. Predictability was moderate. The conclusion is passable. While giving Jamie and Alison their assumed happily ever after, we are left with many openings: Matty's reunion, the prisoners swearing vengeance upon both Alison and the Alliance, the Alliance's threat to the recent odd matings. Though this was not my favorite volume of the ongoing saga, I do look forward to learning more about Matty and what he's been up to in Glasgow. Overall, I think I'd only recommend this series to others once all volumes or installments are out. Ms. Moone states that it can be read as a stand-alone, but I truly feel that you'd lose a lot of the comprehension of the ongoing story if you picked it up half-way through.

Jamie Abbott was a bear shifter and Alliance leader. He had somethings that haunted his past. He blamed himself for his brother’s disappearance. There is also this red headed girl that haunts his dreams every night.
Alison Carter was a secret informative for the Alliance. She was human and had been raised a certain way that could hinder things with her being Jamie’s fated mate. She knew Jamie looked familiar but could not put her finger on why.
The pull between Jamie and Alison will be strong. Jamie will have to decide if Alison is trust worth. If they end up together they will have to make sure they keep their relationship a secret for human and shifters do not mix.
Alison will have some hard decisions to make. Her decision will cost her so much no matter what she chose but only one decision is the right one.

Well this one was more interesting as you go. This is the third
story in the set of books. they are truly something else each
one of these mating as the shifter species are not meant to
be. so they have to hide from the other sisters hand from the
Sons of Domnall here and there and kill all shifters. This
book is Jamie and Alison Story. Alison is human and Jamie
is there and they're not meant to be in normal circumstance
but she also works for the enemy. But as those she's learned
that not all she was told as a child was true. And she has
a deeper secret that they just hurting me more than anything
else. Jamie is trying to find his brother as well during this
story which we hopefully will find the next book.

This book, more so than the others in the series, challenged the characters to make choices to be together - whether they should accept the stories they've heard about each other since they were kids, whether to defend their mate or their family. I really enjoyed this book, probably more than the other two so far in the series. The characters had to overcome so much together and I can't wait to read more as they set off on their next rescue mission.
This was the third book in the series. You don't have to read them in order, but I think I got more out of the plot having read them in order.

Scottish WEREBEAR A FORBIDDEN LOVE
The first two books left me WANTING TO HEAR JAMIES STORY, I was on pins and needles in anticipation! however?...
Not too sure about this one.I understand the concept in these shifter books. MATE trumps ALL! However Allison devastated Jamie's life. Left his parents and him in deep grief. Yet he forgives her without a second thought. This is stretching MY imagination to the snapping point. It was an ok read.

I loved it. I loved them all, really. And I'm reallt excited for the fourth one.
I loved that the author gave us a view of this male protagonist's past. And how she went into the internal stuggle of the female protagonist.
I loved the writing. Short book, but still.
It still challenged the rules, and I'm all up for that. Werebear-human thing.
Idk.
I really loved them all and I recommend to everyone out there who likes romance, they're short, but sweet. And the characters are all lovable.

An ARC was given to me for an honest review. Some fanatics are trying to wipe shifters off the face of the earth. This is about the daughter of the head fanatic finding out that possibly all she's been told her whole life about shifters might be a lie. In the leader of the Alliance meeting her again may help him to find someone he has been looking for since he was a child. This is an entertaining and interesting read. Enjoy I did.
