For weeks, attorney Chloe Roberts senses someone following her. Always in her periphery, she's been unable to catch them. Then the phone calls and hang-ups start. The only reprieve was when she was in Westen for her sister's wedding. Now, whoever it was, they've progressed to text messages...more and more threatening ones.
Danger trails
Six years ago, Wes Strong wandered into the small town of Westen. A lone wolf, he's looking to find a place to put an end to the guilt he carried in his soul over the loss of most of his dark ops team during an extraction of a hostage in the jungle. While Wes hunts the predator stalking Chloe, his own past has him in its cross-hairs.
Danger blows
A winter storm turns into a blizzard, covering the entire state of Ohio. Power outages and arctic temperatures endanger the small town of Westen, traps Chloe and Wes in a cabin on the outskirts of town and forces Chloe's stalker to escalate his threat.
USA Today bestselling author, Suzanne Ferrell discovered romance novels in her aunt’s hidden stash one summer as a teenager. From that moment on she knew two things: she loved romance stories and someday she'd be writing her own. Her love for romances has only grown over the years. It took her a number of years and a secondary career as a nurse to finally start writing her own stories.
The author of 20 novels and an Amazon best-seller for both her series, the Edgars Family Novels and the Westen series, Suzanne's books have been finalists in the National Reader's Choice Awards--SEIZED (2013) and VANISHED (2014). Suzanne was also a double finalist in the Romance Writers of America's 2006 Golden Heart with her manuscripts, KIDNAPPED (Long Contemporary Category) and HUNTED (Romantic Suspense).
Currently working on more books for her Edgars Family series (KIDNAPPED, HUNTED, SEIZED, VANISHED, EXPOSED, UNMASKED and SHANGHAIED, part of a pre-WWII spy-chaser spin-off series) and the Westen Series (Close To Home, Close To The Edge, Close To The Fire, Close To Christmas, Close To The Mistletoe, Close To Santa’s Heart and Close To Danger), Suzanne hopes to bring readers more passionate and suspenseful books to fill your reading moments. Suzanne's sexy stories, whether they are her on the edge of your seat romantic suspense or the heartwarming small town stories or historical suspense novels, will keep you thinking about her characters long after their Happy Ever After is achieved.
Thrilling conclusion to Wes and Chloe's story. It was good to be back in Weston with the suspense in abundance, a huge snow storm paralyzing the town and a stalker after Chloe and a unknown danger also following Wes..
To get the full enjoyment of this book I recommend reading the previous books first. This is series that has a big ensemble cast that carries over from book to book which always great to keep up with previous characters.
I have so enjoyed this series and small-town life in Western, Ohio. When attorney Chloe Roberts arrives in Western for her sister's wedding she doesn't tell her family she has a stalker. So far its been phone calls and hang ups and the creepy feeling she's being followed. Now that she's back home the threat has progressed to frightening text messages.
Deputy Sheriff Wes Strong had one sweet night with Chloe when she was home. Too bad she'd had too much to drink at her sister's wedding and passed out, so he'd done nothing more than tuck her safely in bed so she could sleep it off. She'd told him then she thought she was being followed, although she'd done her best to brush it off as nothing. Wes wasn't convinced so he'd found a way to keep an eye on her. When he sees the threat escalating, he asks for time off from his job and heads for Chloe's, determined to protect her. The two of them end up at Wes's cabin in the woods outside Westen as they try to determine who is after her.
When a blizzard buries Westen and traps Wes and Chloe they might think they're safe for the time being, but the threat is closer than they realize and its tied to Wes's past.
This had plenty of suspense with a wonderful love story thrown in the mix. Wes and Chloe were perfect for one another. Can't wait to see what happens next for the people of Westen.
Filled with the thrilling suspense and emotional heart I've come to expect of a Suzanne Ferrell novel. I've fallen in love with Ferrell's small Ohio town of Westen and the people who populate her. Though I've enjoyed each book in this series, Wes and Chloe's story is one of my favorites. It has my enthusiastic recommendation!
Chole is being stalked and Wes is going to help. Enter a blizzard and more trouble than anyone could ever expect. Suzanne Ferrell brings mystery, excitement and romance into Westen with every book.
I really like this series and the characters. It's been a while since I read #1-3 so I will have to go back and reread the entire series so that I can make sure I haven't missed anything.
This story was a great settle down form of relaxation for me. Good story line, characters I could care about, and I love the connection between Chloe and her sisters. I want Woden, wolf dog extraordinaire, to come live with me. I a!so enjoy the town of Westen. Love to be able to pop in to peaches n cream and have dinner. Chat with Lorna or doc Clint and his wife.
Each story Suzanne writes just gets better.
If you like your danger tall dark and hot, strong and feisty heroines, small town setting, and solid well paced stories, this is the series to check out. I'm looking forward to the next Westen story!
I fell in love with the small town of Weston from the beginning. I have been waiting for this story since bobbies wedding and Miss Suzanne didn't disappoint. The story of Wes and Chloe had it all the suspense the fun banter and love of a small town we have all come to love with her books. I recommend if you haven't read the other books in this series that you definitely go get them. This is another of my books i will absoulutly be re-reading. Thank you Suzanne for another great read I'm always so excited when I see a new book by you.
Going back to the town of Westen is always a great trip. In the new story by Suzanne Ferrell, Chloe Roberts who is an adopted member of the community is in trouble. Someone has began to stalk her. The fear Chloe is experiencing is making life hard and she isn't sure what to do. Enters Wes Strong a deputy who has a dark past no one really knows about. Wes decides he needs to do everything he can to keep Chloe safe. Together they hope to figure out who Chloe's stalker is and keep her safe. But, in the meantime a ghost from Wes' past comes calling. Together they will have to survive the weather and those out to do them harm.
I like this series. Since Cloe met Wes, there was something there. He used a few tricks from his black ops days to keep an eye on her. He knows there is somone stalking her, but she wouldn't tell him or anyone else what was going on. When he saw another text from the stalker, he knew he had to help her. The trick is getting Cloe to let him help. As the danger accelerates, they get closer. With Wes's background he isn't fit to have anyone permanent in his life, but he really wants to stay with Cloe. She is a big city girl and he lives in a cabin in the woods. Would she give up all of that for him? He doesn't think she would. Cloe knows something has to change, but would she be happy in a small town?
This book is a great suspenseful read that will have you hooked from the first page. Chloe is a lawyer in Cincinnati and the younger sister of Bobby, who is the wife of Weston’s Sheriff. Wes Strong is one of Gage’s deputies. Chloe and Wes are attracted to one another and spend one night together. When Chloe has a stalker, Wes takes it upon himself to protect her. Grab your copy and see what happens. I still love this small town series and I can’t wait to read more. Hopefully, Dylan the youngest Sister will get her own story.
I'm so glad I found this series! The characters first capture me with the true to life way they're written. The captivating stories told are so suspenseful I try to read Suzanne Ferrell 's books when I have uninterrupted time. It's reading pleasure to get lost in the excitement of new love as favorite characters pursue romance and try to avoid heartbreak. The humor sneaks in and you have to laugh out loud at times, especially when Harriet or Woden steal a scene. I can highly recommend the citizens of Westen will welcome you to town!
There was so much going on both romantically and plenty of suspense. I couldn't quite figure out the culprit , which was good. It kept me guessing, which kept me reading.
I might have given this 5* if not for all the typos & grammar errors — even Chloe’s name was misspelled! Good story, lots of sisterly love and suspense all make for a great read.
The story of Chloe and Wes was a real page turner and exciting! while it took me awhile to warm up to Chloe, she really turned out to be a sweet and stong women! Wes was all things protective, thoughtful and hunky! While I didn't like the resolution to the Cincinnati problem because it was blown off as a quick fix, but the majority of the book was about this issue.
I don't normally leave reviews but the Westen Series books are very exciting. I loved Wes and Chloe's story the best. The only problem I had was that there were too many spelling errors and a few jumbled sentences that I had to figure out on my own. Hopefully the next book will be edited better.
Deputy Wes, a former Black Ops leader, is determined to keep Chloe safe after discovering she has a stalker, but in the end they are both surprised to discover the source of the danger.
Great story with equally balanced elements of romance, action, and suspense. This was my first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it, although a few scenes were a bit more explicit than I expected.
Excellent storytelling, this was a pleasure reading, intense, drama, action and compelling emotional connections between the characters who by the way are really interesting. This unique story about discovering love and forging a new beginning is one that everyone should read.
Quite the book. This book has some real meat in the plot. It is a mystery, with romance and humor. When I started the book I wasn't sure what I thought about it. About the third page it started holding my attention and by chapter 3,I couldn't put it down.
I do hope there is at least one more book in this series, I love Westen and all the characters who inhabit the town. This was a great read- mystery, suspense and one sweet romance.
I liked the idea of this book much more than the execution. Romantic suspense with the MMC going above and beyond to protect the FMC and figure out who’s stalking her. I think both the main characters had well created personalities and their chemistry was… okay, but I wasn’t swooning over them. I definitely did not understand the necessity in having so many perspectives. Perhaps if I’d read the prior books in the series, I may have enjoyed seeing more of the couples from prior books, but instead it just felt like unneeded filler.
The suspense element was built well at the beginning but when there was introduction of a second stalker, it felt too busy. Then with the extra perspectives added in, the book just draaaaaagged. The second suspense plotline took precedence over the first and while it did make the ending more exciting, it didn’t leave enough time for the FMC’s stalker plotline to be wrapped up in a satisfying way. It also was the most obvious person who didn’t actually make much sense when looked at psychologically.
Also, it felt like most of the female characters were initially presented in a way to seem like strong, independent characters, which, of course, I did appreciate. However, when actually getting into the action, they’re damsels in distress. It was very frustrating.
This might have been a better book if read as part of the series, but it wasn’t the best experience as a standalone.
Good characters, fun story. Nothing profound and the ending felt rushed and obvious. There was a significant missed opportunity in the revelation about Chloe's stalker. It could have been much more interesting, but it felt like the author got so wrapped up in the drama of earlier events that she forgot until the last few pages that she needed to handle the stalker situation.
I have loved the westen series. The story of Chloe and Wes was exciting and kept my interest. The reason for the lower rating is the story has some inaccuracies from the other books. Things like getting wrong the characters name or occupation incorrect. There were also several grammar errors. The book was good but the editing not so much.
