Resort at Castaway Bay #2

Resort at Castaway Bay: Lost and Found: Resort at Castaway Bay, Book 2

Sydney Whitmore, a forensic psychologist living in San Francisco, moves home to Shipwreck Island, and the resort owned and operated by her family, after tragedy strikes leaving her struggling for a way to make sense of things. After finding out about the assault of an old friend, which has left him comatose, she renews her relationship with Ezra Reinhold, a reclusive billionaire who enjoys poking around in cold cases and has the means to hire the best people to find the answers no one else has been able to.

In the second book in the series, Syd is asked to help a man regain his memories after showing up a decade after he went missing with no memory of where he'd been since disappearing from his home when he was eight. Meanwhile, she continues to look for answers relating to Riley's attack, which seems an impossible task, until Kelly invites her to a meeting with Ezra's group who all pitch in to offer insight.

Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home.
Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

Ms. Daley has penned another intriguing mystery for Syd to solve on Castaway Bay. A teen missing for 10 years, an old friend who may or may not have been a victim of a random mugging and a few twists that puzzled Syd kept me turning the pages. In this book Syd also has personal insights that she needs to consider that may impact her future. These insights made this book feel like more than a typical cozy mystery. I enjoy Ms. Daley's unique plots that include both mystery and family and friends interactions. I'm already excited about the next book in the series.

Lost and Found is the second book in Kathi Daley’s Resort at Castaway Bay series. The West Coast setting is charming, and the well-developed characters are three-dimensional, compassionate, and caring. The intriguing mystery is well plotted and complex, with no shortage of twists and red herrings to keep the reader engaged and guessing. Ms. Daley’s descriptive writing made me feel like I was right in the midst of the activities and sharing the characters’ tragedies and joys. A lifestyle blog with a lovely garden project by Christy Turner is included. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reading well-crafted cozies.

After suffering the consequences of an error in judgment in her job as an FBI forensic psychologist, Sydney Whitmore extends her trip home to Shipwreck Island through the end of October. Sydney and her sisters, Emily and Rory, were taken in and raised by Aunt Charlie when their parents were killed in an automobile accident. Emily, her two young daughters, and Rory live at Jack’s Hideaway with Aunt Charley and her father-in-law, Hank Hamilton. In addition to helping at the resort, Emily is writing a lifestyle blog. Rory is a veterinary technician who often brings home animals in need of extra attention.

Sydney, whose skillset includes weeding out the truth, is asked by her boss, Colin Black, to look into the mysterious reappearance of eighteen-year-old Jeremy Davenport, who disappeared from his home ten years ago and has no memories of those years. Colin tasks Sydney with helping Jeremy recover his lost memories. Sydney enlists the help of Sheriff Sam Stone, her friend and ex-FBI strategist, Kelly Green, and another friend and a skilled hacker, Genevieve, to help her. Even though the police have determined that Sydney’s high school boyfriend, Riley Chesterfield, who has been in a coma for months, was the victim of a mugging, Sydney begins looking into the matter to determine if his attack relates to his research.

A Mystery Without a Murder

What I am enjoying about this series is that there are different types of mysteries involved. The main character is a forensic psychologist working for the FBI who is on an extended vacation on the island where she grew up. A high school boyfriend is in a coma and she is trying to help his wife discover what happened. She is also lending support to his daughter. This is the mystery that is central to the series.

In this particular story a boy who went missing at age 8 has returned home to the island at age 18 with no memory of where he’s been for the last 18 years. Since she is a psychologist she has been asked by her FBI boss to help find out what happened to him. With the help of several friends, one who is an expert computer hacker, they check out the leads that this boy is revealing to help lead to his memory returning.

The story also involves the lives of those that live and work at the main resort on the island. These are interesting and relatable characters that add so much to the story.

I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Sydney Whitmore is back in her childhood island home living at the resort owned by family.

Trying to heal from the death of someone close to her for which she feels a huge weight of guilt, she is once again finding her unique FBI profiling skills in demand, as two intriguing cases present themselves and she is asked to assist.

One child has gone missing and another child has returned as an adult, a decade after he went missing as an eight year old. Are the cases related or is it just a coincidence that one is lost as one is found?

I enjoyed this book so much. You won't want to miss it.

Book two of this series can be read as a stand alone. Readers who are already fans of Ms Daley and her very popular series will not be disappointed. The mystery starts early on.
Syd is still trying to figure out what resulted in her old friend being in a coma. Was he targeted or just in the wrong place at a really wrong time?
The main mystery in this book again concerns missing teens, or rather a teen who has returned from being missing and has no memory of where he has been. At the same time, a child has gone . Is there a connection?

Syd came home to get a break from her stress filled life and to reconnect with family and friends.
Fortunately she has friends with special skills and access to data bases everyday people and researchers do not. She also has insatiable curiosity and a drive to follow through.
I am glad to learn more about her in each book.

Whether you are already a fan of Kathi Daley series or a mystery reader who enjoys an edgier cozy read, this is a series you will become hooked on.
Not traditional cozy (amateur sleuth) but also not too deep, dark and difficult.
I strongly recommend you visit Castaway Bay.

Sydney (Syd) Whitmore is a forensic psychologist living in San Francisco when tragedy strikes so she moves back home for what turns out to be a working vacation. Home is a resort on Shipwreck Island and Syd is really enjoying reconnecting with family and friends.

In this book, Syd is asked to help a young man regain his memories of the ten years that have passed since he dissapeared when he was eight. She also continues to look into the case of her friend, Riley's attack.

I really enjoyed this book which is second in the series and takes up seamlessly after the first. The book's well-written with a wonderful cast of characters. I was drawn into the story from the start and kept hooked, reading it in one sitting. Full of intrigue with a mystery that'll keep you on your toes, this is an excellent read. I'm looking forward to the next book and I highly recommend both book and series. I suggest you read the books in order for the most enjoyment and benefit even though technically they could be read on their own.

Sydney Whitmore is a forensic psychologist who we first met in Kathi Daley's "Inn at Holiday Bay" series. Now she has moved back home to Shipwreck Island and the resort owned and operated by her family. Even though she is technically on vacation, Syd continues to work on cases. One is an eighteen-year-old man who disappeared ten years ago and was never seen until he showed up at the door of the home where he lived when he was eight. Jeremy has no memories of where he was or what happened during the time he was gone. He had been well cared for, there was no sign of abuse. Syd is also trying figure out why her friend Riley was attacked and beaten while attending a scientific conference resulting in his lying in a coma for months. Syd realizes how much she enjoys living close to her family once more. She would not give up her job, but she considers the possibility of consulting or coming up with ways to live on Shipwreck Island and traveling wherever she is needed since she rarely spends time in the apartment she currently rents anyway.

I'm really enjoying this spin off series, set in Castaway Bay.

Syd is a Forensic Psychologist , on extended leave from the FBI she is back with her family on vacation. Although, there are a couple of cases she gets drawn into while she's on the island.

Her Boss at the FBI asks her for a favour while she's back home, can this play into her hands and help her make a life changing decision, one which will see her living back where she grew up.

Before she makes that decision, she is helping a local young girl deal with the random mugging of her Father, who is a friend of Syd's from when she lived in Castaway Bay; and the favour her Boss asks is helping a young boy remember the past 10 years, after he disappeared from a local address at 8years old, then reappeared 10 years later at 18years old!

I couldn't put this book down, it's a great series. I can't wait for the next book now.

Lost and Found is the second book in the great new Resort at Castaway Bay cozy mystery series. As with each series written by Kathi Daley, the characters and setting make for an amazing escape from reality. Shipwreck Island sounds like a wonderful place to live or vacation. I love the way Ms. Daley writes in a continuing saga fashion with hints and clues to stories in the future. I love that not all questions are resolved in each book. All of her books are filled with elements of a cozy mystery including suspense, love, friends and family, and a sense of community. I really look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Another successful series

In the second installment of the Castaway Bay series, Syd uses her forensic psychologist training to try help a young man who disappeared a decade ago at age eight, regain his memory of the time he was missing. She also investigates what happened to her high school boyfriend (now married with a ten year old daughter) who was attacked at a conference and left in a coma. The detail with which Kathi handles each mystery is incredible, making this a satisfying read. I’m looking forward to Trick or Treat.

Resort at Castaway Bay: Lost and Found

Reading a Kathi Daley book is like hanging out with a friend. Syd is realizing that being on the island with family and friends is where she wants to be. Jeremy a boy that disappeared 10 yrs ago shows up on his family’s porch not remembering where he was. Syd works with him to help him regain his memory. Her friend Riley who is still in a coma also occupies her mind. So many wonderful times on the beach is great for all the younger girls. Great story!!

Another great series by this author

This is the 2nd book in the Castaway Bay series. Love how one issue is solved (Jeremy) and a carryover issue from the first book reaches a conclusion (Riley). Sydney contemplates staying on the island with her family and making a change in her work, which allows for more books in a great series. Some of the characters are woven in from other series and I enjoy their interactions and development.

Such an interesting book!! A forensic psychologist is helping to try to discover what happened to the boy who has been gone for about 10’years and suddenly turns up without his memory, a scientist who is in a comma-was it a mugging gone bad or something to do with his research? And last but not least does she want to go back to her old life or stay with the family that she has missed so long. Wonderful mysteries to solve and life to figure out

The second book in the series starring Sydney Whitmore, who is a Forensic Psychologist. Intriguing profession she has and very interesting how she helps in solving cases. Loved getting to know more about her and her family. Loved following her investigating the cases in this story and found one to be a very unigue mystery. Interesting how the author takes you through twists and turns -- love trying to guess the outcome. Looking forward to Book 3.

Castaway Bay: Lost and found

Syd has several jobs to find the reason why Jeremy has returned home, why someone would harm her old friend Riley, and to help in old cases with her friends. Syd even helps a young lady work through her problems while just Listening. Syd helps Jillie who is Riley’s daughter. This is an exciting book. See how things work out and what life changes may be in store.

Definitely engrossing

Another interesting case for Sydney with the reappearance of a teen ten years after his disappearance and Sydney tries to help unravel his post memories. Meanwhile she is still also looking into her friend's apparent mugging and subsequent deep coma. Could not put this down until the end.

Finally Found

Kathi Daley has served us up another compelling story, woven around the loss of a young boy ten years ago, who suddenly reappears. Syd is still trying to figure out what happened to her ex, as well, and struggling with the decision to stay on the island or return to the city. Will she find her answers?

An intriguing and fascinating mystery

This was a very intriguing lost and found mystery. Some twists that I didn't see coming, but Syd is good at solving the unique cases with some help from Kelly and Gen. I love all of the characters in this series and the bonus mysteries that always make the adventure more fun.

Ms Daley is a new author to me, but very much like my favorites. I have read both Truth or Dare and Lost and Found and have Trick or Treat ready to read. The cozy mystery concept is relatively new to me and one that I enjoy tremendously.

I am a voracious reader and particularly like romantic stories with a little mystery, or a lot, thrown in. Lost and Found more than satisfies both.

The world of forensic science is well handed in this series. A must read for those who are fans of NCIS and CSI TV series'.

Problem solver?

Syd has her hands full with helping Jeremy remember the last ten years of his life. Who took him and why. Also her friend is still in a coma, so she is helping to take care of Jilly while her mom Val is at the hospital looking out for Riley. And now she is thinking about making some changes to her life.
This book answered alot of questions from the first book in the series and now there are some new questions to think about. I am really enjoying this series. The characters are really thought out and they are like people you want to know.
