But there's really no time to lose. Every day that you're not using the Ultimate Language Learning Secret, you're missing out on one of life's most precious and easily accepted foreign language fluency.
Anthony Metivier is a Canadian author and Memory trainer. His approach to mnemonics, known as the Magnetic Memory Method, has introduced several new innovations to the art of memory. Influenced by memory skills innovators like Harry Lorayne and Tony Buzan, Metivier is a promoter of mental literacy.
Born in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Metivier grew up in Kamloops. He completed first a BA and MA in English Literature before completing an MA in Media and Communications at the European Graduate School. Later, he completed a PhD and became the first person to hold a Doctorate in Humanities from York University.
From 2009-2011, Metivier taught Film Studies in the Art History Department of the University of Saarland partly under the auspices of a Mercator research grant for the project, Elective Affinities: Studien zu filmischen Adaptionen von Romanen und Erzhlungen mit Kunstbezug.
The author is using the book as an infomercial for his $200 memory learning product. I felt like I was in a really bad infomercial and he was going to say "but wait, there's more!"
A little random and disorganized with some errors (after buying 2 books - sadly the same takeaway). I feel like there is less time spent on the how than there is on selling more content. I don’t think the style and advice really clicks for me. Lots of obtuse statements like “100% fluent and 0% fluent”, and promised nuggets if you buy more. Like a 100 page Billy Zane infomercial.
This is not worth the money for the audiobook unless you are quite new to the subject. Listen to free podcasts and you'll be fine (you can get lots of Luca Lampariello and David Mansaray elsewhere for free). Nothing much really about the memory palace method.
I am highly supportive of all of Dr. Anthony's work! While I feel that none of his books are "stand-alone" texts, they are all worthwhile. Spend time following his lessons and interviews online, and include these books as part of your coaching process. If you're looking for individual mentoring, his caring attention can make a big difference in your progress as an explorer of the mind!
Great read, motivational, informative, also links you to other great like-minds. Larger than average font making it really easy to absorb. Very easy read. Ideal for anyone starting on a memory training journey.
