From the moment she fell out of the tree in his backyard, ruining his eighth birthday party, Genesis Stoll had been Kye Levine’s best friend. The one person he knew would be there no matter what. She was his escape, his sunshine when the darkness in his world got too deep. When he had her to run to, he knew no matter how twisted his life got, she would remind him who he was. He would never lose himself. She wouldn’t let him.
Genesis had loved Kye most of their life; in a way, she knew Kye didn’t reciprocate. If she ever told him, it would likely destroy their friendship, and she wasn’t willing to take that chance. Besides, Kye would never fall in love and be in a relationship. He was a wild, free spirit.
When an old boyfriend with a past intertwined with both Genesis and Kye walks back into her life, she feels things for him—believing that he could be the man to give her a family, love, and security. All the things she knew Kye never would.
Just as things begin to fall into place for Genesis and the new man in her life, Kye walks in her door with a baby. One he didn’t know existed. One that’s mother had dropped him off like unwanted baggage. A baby boy that belonged to Kye.
Abbi Glines is a #1 New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of the Rosemary Beach, Smoke, Sea Breeze, Vincent Boys, Field Party and Existence series. She never cooks unless baking during the Christmas holiday counts. She believes in ghosts and has a habit of asking people if their house is haunted before she goes in it. She drinks afternoon tea because she wants to be British but she now lives in New England and that's as close as it is going to get. When asked how many books she has written she has to stop and count on her fingers. When she’s not locked away writing, she is reading, watching Netflix and all the introverted stuff. You can connect with Abbi online in several different ways. She uses social media to procrastinate.
I mean 👀… there’s no on page OW sex… so I guess that’s an improvement?? 🥴 (I guess Abbi decided she’d already gotten the point across when she showed this hero screwing anything that moved in the last several books)
I don’t like Kye. I don’t find him charming. I’m not convinced that he would ever have pulled his head out his ass if he hadn’t knocked up a stripper and needed help with his infant.
And can we talk about how trashy the ENTIRE situation was. Not only are these two MCs raging assholes for how they treated their “best friend” both in the past and in the current time line… but this dirty manwhore knocks up a glorified prostitute because his tacky dick jewelry pricked a hole in the condom. I just can’t… and he’s all proud of himself for “always wrapping it up”… (I always side eye this BS when it’s coming out of the mouth of a man who ROUTINELY gets black out drunk with low life people)… but if his peen jewels are capable of poking holes in condoms 👀🤔… then the condom might as well not have been there. Like, EVER. 😵💫 Not just the one time with the skanky ho he knocked up but all the other times he had sex with nasty ass women… which was A LOT. Now the heroine is gonna be raising the result of his gross past FOREVER. I don’t know about you, but I’d be thinking about his whoring around every time I saw his bedazzled junk. I would not find that hot 🤷🏼♀️
So excuse me when I gagged a little when these two finally had sex. And again when she decided to participate in a little private bj contest after she read a sexually graphic text from one of his many twat waffle ho bags…. I just can’t relate to reacting like that 🤷🏼♀️. So cringe. 🤢
Also, I really wish this author would stop using the same sex moves that we have witnessed the heros using on OW on their heroine. Under no circumstance should we EVER hear the Hero using the exact same dirty talk with the exact same intensity on both the OW and the heroine. Not ever. It’s REVOLTING to have a hero treat the heroine the exact same as he did some dirty prostitute he has no feelings for. If you’re gonna show the heros in a series having on page sex with OW in technicolor detail, there should be a stark difference between those sex scenes and the sex with the h. This isn’t about “too dark” or whatever… this about writing a decent romance that is believable. I love the manwhore/virgin trope. That’s why I’m reading Abbi Glines…. But in this series she seems to have forgotten how to write a redeemable hero. All these HEAs are highly suspect.
I LOVED THIS! Kye and Genesis' story was so beautiful.
Friends to Lovers vibes.
I loved the characters and the story was beautiful. It was wrote so well that it never had slow points in the story that couldn't hold my attention. I was glued to this book! Abbi definitely didn't disappoint! I laughed, swooned, and cried throughout this book. All the ups and downs, the heartache, the fear, the loyalty and dedication to being a constant in someone's life and putting them before yourself. Abbi outdid herself with this one. I would love to see Kye and Gen revisited one day.
h was too much of a doormat and H was too much of a manwhore.
anyone who knows me knows I can’t stomach explicit sex scenes with other people and this had a lot (at least by my standards) of it— of the H doing filthy things with OW. he even praises her for all her good work— yuck. and he even goes and gets one of his hookups accidentally pregnant, icing on the sickening cake.
such a disappointment for an abbi glines book.

“She was engaged to him. But…, she belonged to me.”
This book left me breathless. Kye and Gen’s angst fueled bff-to-lovers story will capture your attention from page one. Kye Levine is a wild spirit and the perfect bad boy in Genesis Stolls’ world, where being the good girl has kept her ‘safe.’ Until, one night, everything changes.
Didn’t think it would happen, but Kye stole my heart! Truly one of the best friends to lover romance telling I have read. Throw in all the delicious angst, heart-pounding steamy scenes, and building resolve with a dash of danger, and viola! You will love Gen and Kye so much, as well as the entire Smoke series. Burn by Abbi Glines is a MUST-READ!!!
I reviewed an early copy voluntarily, and look forward to future novels by the author.
4.5 Stars! I loved this book! This entire series is so dang good but this book has been one of the best. I love Kye and his easy going personality. And don’t even get me started on how much I love Genesis! She is full of love and spice and one hell of a bad ass! A great friends to lovers read that I never knew I needed. The twist in this book I was not expecting but it made it that much better. Best friends always who were there for each other but turned into way much more once Kye got his head out of his ass and Genesis realized that loser Bowie wasn’t for her. I love how all these books the other characters make appearances at just the right time. Next book is The Boss and I can’t wait to read about Garrett!!
First off this story was different from all the rest of this series. Kye and Genesis have been friends since they were kids.
Genesis Stoll had been the best thing in my life since the day she’d walked into my backyard and ruined my eighth birthday party.
Kye is a real man ho and has been throughout this series. We get a look of him as a wild child. We also see him in a different light due to circumstances and I love it.
Genesis knows about his work but has never been apart of any of it. He’s always kept there friendship apart from that part of his life.
But what I could tell her was how the wild boy next door had become the man I used to dream he’d be.
We do see the other guys and there women but not as much as we have in previous books There is drama but a little more tame than before.
“You have a choice to make, and I won’t lie to you; it’s a gamble.
I know I say this every time but this is the best one yet and I can’t wait for Garret and Fawn’s book.
I didn't quite know what to expect from Kye's story but it turned out better than I hoped. The only thing I don't like is the cover because that guy looks psycho but the story is very good. Kye had been in love with his best friend Genesis since he was eight. Even though it was a different kind of love, he never expected it to turn into the kind it became. Gennesis had always loved Kye but thought he would never settle down for just one woman. When Kye ended up with the biggest surprise of his life, she knew she could not abandon him. Jagger ended up taking her heart and she was so afraid of losing both. Of course since the Mafia is involved, there is drama but it made the story better. The chemistry between them was off the charts and I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
this is a continuation of the mafia stories that I've been listening to this is Kai's story though I will say you meet Kai of course in the other books and he is quite the man w**** so when you get to his story and you're not sure what to expect I am was very fascinated to the fact that he is always loved a girl since she was a little girl and has held fast to that it was something very sweet wasn't a lot of like Mafia type stuff going on in it a little bit it was a sexy book though and I enjoyed it.
3.5 Stars — Okay, I know these books are all about the hot mafia men, but for me? Genesis stole the show in this one. I loved her character, and I’ll always be a sucker for friends-to-lovers. And can I just say, I freaking disliked Bowie. Not kid Bowie, but adult Bowie? He sucked so bad. Kye was always the better choice. That man is playboy 101, and if anyone was going to tame him, it was Baby Doll. Such a good read! I’m still obsessed with this series!
I am loving this smoke series!! Genesis and Kye are childhood friends and Kye is so protective and loves her so much. I really loved their story and how it all came together.
The audio was so good. This is performed in a duet by Jacob Morgan and Juno Cooper they both were amazing. Highly recommend the audios for this series.
I enjoyed this one! I was speculating what would happen with these characters since they were mentioned in the previous book. I wasn’t sure if I would like the leading lady, but really enjoyed her trying to figure it out and how she fought for Kyes son. This is everything that I wanted for both of the main characters in this story! A great ending! On to book 9!

Burn is the eighth book in the Smoke series by Abbi Glines. This one is a best-friends-to-lovers romance. This is actually the first book I've ever read by this author, and I've gotta say, I am completely hooked! I absolutely loved it! This book was epic! One of my top three reads of 2023! It had everything I love in a good book: jealousy, possessiveness, and a love triangle between three childhood best friends. Abbi's writing style is incredible, and the storyline was amazing! If you love these tropes like I do, this one is a must read and highly recommended with a million stars!
IDK. Best friends?? That was a difficult premise to accept for me for most of the story. But the last quarter (math?) of the book has me cheering for him.
Abbi Glines has outdone herself with the Smoke Series. I was blessed to get an ARC copy. Each book keeps getting better than the last. This time it’s best friends to lovers. This series brings all the emotions and is truly her writing at the absolute finest. Her story pulls you in and you get attached to all the characters. It has all the emotions and elements of a wonderful book. I definitely recommend reading the book if not the whole series. Absolutely wonderful book. Her style of writing is like no other. It will completely hook you and you won’t be able to put the book down.
I had the incredible fortune to delve into an advance copy of this enthralling novel, and let me assure you, it was nothing short of amazing! From the first page to the last, I found myself utterly captivated, unable to tear myself away from the tantalizing narrative. "Burn" by Abbi Glines is a breathtaking plunge into a world of conflicting loyalties and smoldering passion. Kye and Gen's transformation from best friends to lovers is a roller-coaster of emotions that grips you from the first page. Kye's wild spirit and Gen's inner struggle make for a compelling narrative. The scorching romance, tinged with danger, is beautifully crafted. A must-read.
Another great book from the Smoke Series by Abbu Glines. Burn was everything I expected from the author and so much more. This book was different than the other 7 books throughout this series, but still gave you just as much bad boy sexiness that you can handle. I was so excited and couldn't wait to read Kye's book and boy did it not disappoint.
While reading the past Smoke Series books, it gave you so little into Kye and Genesis story, that I wasn't sure if I was going to like her, as the other characters made their weird best friend relationship out to be. It almost painted Genesis in a negative light in my eyes. I knew she had to be someone important in Kye's life though. I'm glad the author turned her into someone I really ended up liking.
Since meeting Kye Levine on his 8th birthday, Genesis knew there was something special about that boy. Even if she did ruin his 8th birthday by telling his friend Bowie that she didn't play with baby dolls and bet she could climb a tree higher than him. She did climb that tree higher than Bowie but ended up breaking her arm in 2 places on the slip and fall down. Ever since that say she had gained 2 best friends, and Kye started calling her baby doll. Not that she minded him calling her that. Genesis had always thought Kye was good looking with his blonde hair and blue eyes, but she would never tell him that because she didn't want to ruin their friendship. Plus, Kye knew he was hot, he got any girl he wanted the older they became. That never came between their friendship though. Kye always carved time out to spend with his baby doll, especially on his birthday nights. It was always Kye, Genesis and Bowie growing up, but that changed over time to just her and Kye. Even when she was in college, and came home for summer breaks, Kye's birthday was something they always celebrated together. Genesis always stayed in Kye's childhood home when she was on college summer break. She worked for his mom's shops, decorating them and selling her own fashion designs. Someone from the past ends up coming back into Genesis life, Bowie. Her old best friend and ex-boyfriend in high school. He wants Genesis back, and she pretty much settles for him. Even though being around Kye did things to her body and mind, Bowie was a safe bet. He would never hurt or cheat on her. She would be enough for him. She ends up pushing Kye to the side for a bit, ignoring him because she just isn't ready to tell him about Bowie yet. Even though Bowie is pushing her too. When something ends up happening to her dad that leaves her freaking out and upset, she calls the 1 person she knows will be there for her, Kye. Genesis ends up taking the semester off from school to move int Kye's mom's house to be close to her family and help them out.
Kye has always loved his baby doll. He would do anything for her just to see her smile. It all but kills him when she puts some distance between them to date some guy. Kye thinks he is all she needs, even without the intimacy. He wishes he could be everything for Genesis. He loves her, and yes, he is attracted to her, but Kye doesn't think there is a such thing as a magical pussy. Even if his friends tell him otherwise. He knows that he will always want more, and that is why he doesn't want to mess up their friendship. When he gets that call from Genesis about her dad, he is there for her. He helps her out anyway that he can, and is back in her life more, which he loves. That also comes with him finding out about her and Bowie, He can't stand it, and hates that Bowie has hurt Genesis before. Bowie buys Genesis all the things she can't stand, and Kye loves to point that out to him. When they become engaged, and Bowie wants to push the wedding to 4 months away. Kye thinks Genesis is making a mistake, and her parents agree too. She is only 20 and that is too young, Genesis seems to think she is doing the right thing.
The second part of this book has a twist in it that I did not see coming, neither did Kye. Something pops up in Kye's life that he doesn't know what to do with. He takes it to the only person in the world he trusts to help him, Genesis. When Kye shows up at Genesis house, she is shocked, surprised and even disappointed at first. She is not going to let her best friend down though. He needs her right now more than anything and she is happy to help. Even if it does leave them playing house and sleeping in the same bed right now. How can she not be there for him when he has always been there for her. Plus, she loves waking up in the morning cuddled next to a warm hard Kye. Who says things in her ear, that leaves you as the reader blushing. The only person who has an issue with this situation is Bowie. When he comes to stay, he can't stand the "problem" that is in his face while he is there. He wants Genesis to choose, him or Kye. How can she choose when Kye needs her right now. Will she make the wrong choice? Either way, someone is going to get hurt. She can up and leave someone she has come to love and want in her life?
Burn is a book that you will not want to put down. Just like the other books in this series, Abbi Glines never disappoints and always leaves you wanting more. The main character in her books are always mouthwatering bad boys. Kye has a way with words that will leave you blushing and pretending he is right there with you, and oh my lord when she describes Kye's body, well let's just say it will leave a lot to your imagination. This is definitely a book going on my top 10 books you must read. I would say you could read this one out of order from the others because it is so different, It does reference the other characters in this book though, so you may get confused on who they are and their story. Seriously what are you waiting for, go order this book already. You will not be disappointed, and you won't be able to it down. Abbi always has me ready and waiting for the next book to come out. These hot, dirty and kinky bad boy mafia books will leave you craving for the next one to come out. I would give Burn 10 stars if I could. Another great book by an amazingly talented author.
I honestly don't know how to rate this, but I'm going with 3.5 stars. This is definitely not the plot I would have pictured for Kye. I mean I could see the unrequited love being a good plot, but I think it was executed wrong. Only because I disliked Genesis. And poor third wheel Bowie. I know the author gave him a somewhat happy ending, but the author tried to make the reader dislike him because he was a vegan and didn't compliment Gen. I'm sorry, but from how he was as kid wasn't matching up to how he turned out in his adulthood. It was weak. And there's NO way any man would put up with the kind of friendship Gen and Kye had. Genesis was horrible to him to be honest. And I'm not sure I'm convinced Kye will be faithful in the future with what he got up to in prior books. He's the worst manwhore so far. So it was unbelievable when he completely had a change of heart because of playing house with Gen and his son who he had with a stripper. Yeah, I know. But it's romance fictionland so he ain't going to cheat 😆. I mean the thing I'm getting from this series is these MMCs are lunatics who are sex addicts. 🤷
Burn Smoke Series, Book 8 By: Abbi Glines Narrated by: Jacob Morgan, Juno Cooper
It is great to be back in Abbi Glines’ “Smoke” series world again for another amazing novel, a friends-to-lovers romance that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. This eighth books is Kye Levine and Genesis Stoll’s story and their friendship started when they were kids and it only grew stronger over the years. Both denied that their feeling morphed into something more, because Kye was not a one woman man and she did not think she saw her that way, plus she was not into sharing. Except he did harbor feelings for her, but never acted on his feeling because he was not the relationship type and she was. Besides, he missed his chance when she fell in love with another of their friends, Bowie, but they remained each other’s person and their friendship was always a part of any relationship she was in. When Kye receives a surprise, a bundle of joy, well, not exactly joyful at first, but it was Genesis who helped him out, despite it costing her. Kye has decisions to make, and turns into an eye opening experience, and a pivotal point in his life. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, also loved the unique telling of the story, a chronological thru the years type telling and it was great to watch them grow into their own, with Kye taking longer, but he gets there in the end. This wonderfully written and plotted story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, charming and heartfelt moments, thrilling & suspenseful moments and steamy romance. It was great to see characters from the earlier books too. Abbi Glines, thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Abbi Glines continues to cast the perfect narrators to bring her characters to life. Jacob Morgan and Juno Cooper are superbly talented voice artists and they did a fantastic job portraying the characters, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role. Cooper was spot on as Genesis, grasping every aspect of her personality, including her fierceness, from her youthful years to adulthood. Morgan nailed it as Kye, showcasing his personality perfectly, from his bad boy side to his caring side. Both were just as fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for another fantastic listen.
Abbi Glines knocked it out of the park again! This story was not just full of passion, but with tons of adorable too. Kye is like a man baby, needs lots of kinky sex and has a strong devotion to his bestie Genesis. He doesn’t understand that you can love a woman and stay faithful and not get bored by having sex with only that woman. So, he fiercely defends his friendship with Genesis, while he visits the strip club very frequently. And of course, he insists that he is all that Genesis needs, sans the sex, deluded AF! As the story develops, he matures into the man he needs to be for Genesis and baby Jagger.
Once you start to read this book, you can’t put the book down. It has a fast pace, full of emotions and struggles. Genesis struggles between the safety that Bowie represents and the intense love she feels for Kye is perfectly portrayed by the author. She’s always loved Kye but she knew he wasn’t capable of fidelity, and Bowie promised devotion and children. Then, a baby is left outside the door of the strip club with a letter proclaiming it’s Kye’s and he’s stuck with the problem. But once he goes to Genesis for help, the trouble becomes an adorable baby that Genesis falls in love with. And forces Kye to grow up.
I loved Genesis introduction to the “Lords of the Underworld”, there was lots of cooing when Kye brought her and baby Jagger to the house. The guys are rough but they are courteous and it’s very apparent that the women own them.
I loved this beautiful story, with the cuteness of a baby boy, the cuteness of a man baby who grows for love of a woman and a son. Genesis was perfect from the get-go, a generous and kind woman, full of love, with expectations of a marriage and kids, yearning to get them from the love of her life but doubting it. It was a lovely and heartwarming read, funny in parts because it’s Kye and he’s sometimes clueless to the point you want to smack the back of his head. But he’s full of love, for his momma and for Genesis and then his baby boy.
The family also appears in all their crazy (Gage), their calculation (Levi and Huck), the levity (Trev) and the authority (Blaise), and the friendship (all their women). Entertaining as heck, with villains because of course, this is a mafia book, but for once, there’s not much darkness so it’s more tender. Abbi Glines is killing it with this series and I’m happy to be part of this ride!
Burn is hands-down the emotional centerpiece of the Smoke series and easily my favorite installment so far.
Kye Levine has always been the wildcard—the charming, loyal guy in the background with a mischievous streak and just enough mystery to keep us wanting more. Finally getting his story, and seeing how deeply rooted his bond with Genesis is, made for such a rewarding read. What really set this book apart is that Kye never changes. He’s the same through all the previous books and into his own—protective, emotionally open (in his own Kye way), and completely ride-or-die for his “baby doll.” That consistency made his devotion all the more believable.
Genesis surprised me in the best way. We didn't know much about her before this, and I honestly wasn’t sure how I’d feel about her. But the moment her story starts, you feel her history with Kye. Their friendship runs deep—it’s layered with shared birthdays, late-night talks, and unspoken feelings. The author does an incredible job making us root for her, especially as she navigates a tricky emotional path with Bowie, the safe but wrong choice.
And then—bam—the baby plot. Normally, a surprise baby mid-series might feel like a gimmick, but here? It’s the catalyst that forces both Kye and Genesis to confront everything they’ve buried for years. Kye, who has always believed he wasn’t capable of or interested in being tied down, suddenly becomes the most tender, unexpectedly swoon-worthy single dad. And Genesis doesn’t flinch—she steps up without hesitation, not just for the baby, but for Kye.
Their chemistry was everything. From the playful childhood banter to the quiet, intense moments of vulnerability and longing, this slow-burn friends-to-lovers story had my heart in a chokehold. Even the tension with Bowie—while frustrating—added to the realism. That moment when she has to choose between the safe path and the one her heart has always known? Chef’s kiss.
Burn is packed with heart, angst, devotion, and one of the most satisfying emotional payoffs in the entire series. Kye and Genesis feel earned—like two people who’ve truly grown into the love that was always waiting between them. Absolutely unforgettable.
The moment Genesis Stoll wandered into his backyard at seven years old it was an instant connection, she quickly became on of the boys and fell into the spot of his best friend. Well if you ask her anyway, if you ask his other friend Bowie he might say something different. They were always together, then one day their best girl friend became something other than one of the boys, she turned into a very beautiful young lady that caught the eyes of both of them, but only one boy would win her heart, but was he the one to keep it?
Now years later it's the same old story, one girl, two admirers, and only one can lay claim to her whole heart. But which one will it be? The one who gave it away or the one whose always thought he wasn't good enough to claim it?
The pages of Burn will steal all your time and attention, it's words will grab ahold of you and refuse to let go! I have read books by this author in the past so I was well aware of the addiction her books hold, but let me tell you this one is at a whole new level of addiction, she totally exceeded all of my expectations with this one!! I am utterly obsessed with these characters!! I am late to the game on this series, (even thought I own all the titles thus far) as this was my first visit, and I am sitting here wondering why I waited so dang long to get started. From the get-go I was completely smitten with these characters, their story left me breathless at times, had me constantly dying of anticipation, and my heart felt every ounce of emotion that was printed on the page. It was such a beautiful and angst driven love story, one that did my heart SO good! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, these characters have a story to share that is destined to wreck you in all the best of ways!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
As a long-time admirer of Abbi Glines's work, I approached her latest offering, Burn, with eager anticipation. Thankfully, it did not disappoint. In fact, it quickly rose to the top of my list of favorites among her novels.
Burn beautifully depicts the transformation of Kye and Baby Doll's relationship from a cherished childhood friendship into a mature and passionate love. This evolution, something we all crave in our own relationships, unfolds organically and with genuine emotion. Witnessing their growth alongside the arrival of their newest family member is both heartwarming and inspiring.
Baby Doll's unwavering devotion to Kye adds depth and complexity to their connection. Her unwavering support and understanding provide a strong foundation for their love to flourish. Glines masterfully explores the nuances of their relationship, showcasing both its playful moments and its deeper emotional resonance.
One of the book's most captivating aspects is its addictive nature. From the very first page, I was drawn into the story and unable to put it down. The day I received Burn was the same day I devoured it whole, unable to resist the captivating pull of Glines's storytelling.
Kye's character development throughout the novel is particularly noteworthy. In Burn, he sheds his boyish persona and steps into the role of a responsible, devoted partner and father. This newfound maturity, coupled with his undeniable sexiness, makes him an incredibly compelling protagonist.
Burn is an exceptional addition to the Smoke Series, one that stands out for its relatable characters, captivating storyline, and poignant exploration of love and family. Glines's signature writing style shines through, drawing readers into the world she has created and leaving them wanting more. This is a must-read for fans of the series and anyone seeking a heartwarming and emotionally engaging romance.

I can't believe that Burn is book #8 in the Smoke series! Abbi Glines, what have you done to me? I have raced through each story! And I can't seem to get them to last more than two days! I literally "burned" through Kye's story! Best-friends-to-lovers, count me in!
Abbi Glines paints such a vivid picture of Kye - larger than life, wild, charming, sexy, man-ho that draws women in! I could see him throughout the whole book. The first half tells a story of his youth, how he and Genesis met, and their tight bond throughout the years. Kye's dedication to Genesis and love of her never wavered. Kye loved his life and often imitated his surroundings with outrageous antics and lots of swearing.
Kye always said exactly what he was thinking. There was no filter at all.
As they get older Genesis continues to love and adore him. Fear of losing his friendship has kept her from pursuing any other relationship with Kye. She moves on with her life and reconnects with an old boyfriend.
Part 2 is sooo funny. Kye has absolutely no filter. It had taken Kye so long to see the truth about his feelings for Genesis. And then baby makes three... A little stork comes with Jagger - an adorable 2-week-old baby. Again, Abbi paints such a funny, vivid picture of Kye trying to get a grip on this, turning to Genesis for help.
I was more than positive that I hadn't created a small human.
The Smokeseries is an amazing, scorching hot romance series. Filled with bad-boys, horses, mafia, and southern charm. Let's not forget all of the alpha males with...kinks that round it out! This is not your mom's romance stories! But wait...Garrett and Fawn's story is next!!!! I can't wait! Keep them coming Abbi!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is a best friends to lovers romance and I thought it was so good. Kye is going to steal your heart. He is a guy that is larger than life. He really knows how to turn on the charm. I don't think he has a charm off button at all. But that's ok I was living for all the charming of Kye. All the ladies love him and he has not one problem with that. I love that we got to go back to his youth in the first part of this book. I love when we get a more detailed account of the past in books. After all youth shapes you really. This is also where he meets Genesis and these two form a really tight bond. The guy certainly has a mouth on him in his youth but such a love for his life. I loved that he was dedicated to Genesis and that dedication and love never changed. As they grow older Genesis never one time doesn't love Kye. However they have a friendship that is everything to her and she is afraid if they tried to be something more she would lose him as her friend. And that can't happen. When a old boyfriend comes into the picture it is her moment to reconnect with him and my heart just broke. Kye has taken a really long time to see what has been in front of him this entire time. But jsut like that a huge surprise falls right into this lap and he needs Genesis now more than ever. But can they ever be more? You have to read and find out. However there is just no way that you won't love this book. I had the very best time reading this book and could have read a lot longer about these two. They are characters you won't be forgetting anytime soon.
When I say I was so excited for this book that I wanted to find my way onto an ARC list I’m so serious.. in Levi’s book I fell in love with Kye so much so that I wanted Aspen to actually have a little more with him.. there was a point when I stopped being team Levi. I knew Kye was going to break my heart and make me still love him. It’s so crystal clear that Kye and his baby doll were meant to be I mean the way he would drop it all for her was telling but it was strange how blinded they were to the fact that the love was deeper than friendship between them. I have to give it to Genesis.. she’s a strong and loving woman. If the man I loved my whole life brought a baby to me that was made by him and another woman I think I would die inside but instead she loved the baby and not only did she love him as much as she loved Kye but more than that even. She had such an open heart for him and helping both him and his daddy even when it meant putting her life on hold. It was a beautiful story to see unfold and I just KNEW it would be one of my favorites. I just wish they didn’t try to force the third wheel best friend back into the picture because it was so clear from the mediocre sex to him being so cruel about a baby that he just wasn’t a good guy he was a whiney scumbag who let his insecurities make him turn controlling and it was truly unsettling especially since he couldn’t even give two f*cks about pleasing Genesis in bed. It’s like he needed everything to be about him because he was scared to death of letting her focus on Kye too much. It was gross beta energy but thankfully the scenes with him weren’t very many!
Every single time I am impressed beyond measure. Moved beyond words. Have a book hangover to end all others. This time is no different, except that the feelings invoked were magnified. I was left raw and deeply gratified. So blindingly thankful that there are these talents out their that constantly entertain amd thrill me beyond comparison. I cannot imagine how difficult it is to create individual, unique and relatable stories time after time. Each story in this series presented original characters and their believable and intoxicating journeys. This time I was left so humbled by the tenacity and drive of the main cast. Two lovers that vehemently provided endless trials and melodrama. So many beautiful and emotional moments. Passionate and arousing scenes that leave you gasping for more. It was impossible not to fall for the charm and enigma that unfolded as the story progressed. It was tangible and unforgettable. The emotion was at breaking point the whole way through. Edge of your seat ferocious passion and fierce loyalty. This story was laid bare and a reader got to witness the exposure of each character. Getting to see down to the very depths of their souls to learn what really makes them tick. It was immeasurable beauty. Mystifying mayhem. Absolute entertainment. I lost a bit of me to this remarkable couple. And could not be happier. Hats off to this hypnotic drama that will live on as one of the best stories I've ever read. 5 stars.
