The Color of Love

Rate this book
CNN news anchor Poppy Harlow and Saturday TODAY's Laura Jarrett celebrate how love comes in many forms.

If love were a color, what color would it be?

Everyone in Ms. Clementine's class has a different answer, but Grace doesn't know which color to choose. Love could be blue like her favorite pair of shoes or yellow like the daffodils that grow in her neighborhood. As Grace and her classmates share what love looks like to them, they learn that it comes in many forms.

CNN news anchor Poppy Harlow and Saturday TODAY's Laura Jarrett have created a warmhearted tale that encourages young readers to celebrate the many meanings of love.

Thank you PRHAudio for the complimentary audiobook!

My toddler and I listened to this story via audiobook tonight at bedtime. Excellent story. The kids in the story are in school and Ms. Clementine class encourages students to discuss what they think the color of love is. Grace is the main character. At first she couldn't decide what color represents her love until she arrived home from school to find her brother cooking and how excited she felt to be with him. I love the other kids colors and reasons. Great kids book!

This book embarks on a meaningful way to address the themes of love, inclusion, and race with young children, particularly after George Floyd’s murder. It celebrates the diversity of love. In the story, Ms. Clementine asks the class: "If love were a color, what color would it be?" Grace doesn't know how to answer and looks for her color with her classmates.

This book was so sweet and made me wonder, "What is my color of love?" The authors do a lovely job of getting people to think about traditions and forms of love and cultures, whether it's the silver of the menorah or the brown gumbo on the table. It is a great way to get people to have conversations, too: what is your color of love today, or what is our color of love as a family? It can also be a great project to do in class that can spark different conversations about how to celebrate the different meanings of love.

2024 Picture Book. American Authors. Peruvian-American Illustrator.

What color is love? The teacher poses this question, and gets all sorts of answers.

What I liked: Lots of diversity among the students and their families; a positive, inclusive message.

What I didn't like: It's essentially a teacher's lesson plan.

Overall, worth adding to diversify a library, but nothing ground-breaking here.

Grace's class talks about the color of love one afternoon. The next day they continue talking about the topic. All of the children share their color and the reason behind the color they picked. Grace connects with most of the colors picked for one reason or another, but she picks her color based on an activity that happens when she gets home from school. I think this is an excellent book, because it describes how love is different for all of us.

My children's book of the year. Ad it was pretty disappointing. But I did see a real attempt at promoting DEI principles, which isn't a bad thing, but it missed the mark and ends up being a pointless but 'colorful' read and not much for kids to learn.

This book discussed the abstract idea of love being represented as a color. Each student had to choose a color and explain how it symbolizes love to them. Overall, this book is vital to show children that everyone's thoughts matter and should be considered.

This book is about a little girl named Grace who has to choose a color to display love. Grace and her classmates learn that love comes in many different ways and forms. This book had a great activity to explain that love can come in many different forms for children in this age range.
