Throughout Scripture, God's leaders built altars where He met them in powerful, miraculous ways. God still longs to pour out His power at those altars. But we've been seduced away by worldly wisdom and man-made distractions and plans, leaving us ineffective against the evil sweeping across our land.
With insight and humility, international leader and pastor Rick DuBose shows the path back to five forgotten altars—and ultimately, the path to your place in heaven's throne room. Full of real-world application and encouraging inspiration, this book will help you ignite a fire for effective prayer, stand your ground in five key areas, create a culture of prevailing prayer in your church, and build spaces to repent, receive, and encounter God.
It's time to storm the altars and pray with humble authority that moves heaven—and unleashes victory here on earth.
Book 3 of the year for me… In Jesus’ Name by Rick Dubose. This was not a sit-down and let-it-play-through kind of audiobook. Each chapter requires you to reflect on the information given and its implementation in your life. While much of this is directed towards leadership, each aspect discussed challenges every reader on a personal level. Over all a solid book, though I think I may need something less heady for my next book haha
Honestly, I wish there was a way on this app to give this book 10 stars instead of just 5. This may be one of the most important books I have read in my life, and I say that without exaggeration. Dubois provides a simple, clear, and effective teaching on prayer beyond that which I have seen in many other works. I’m still processing this, but I will leave you with a quote from the last chapter that will live with me forever.
“When prayerless people die, everything dies with them. They have only what they were able to accomplish in their own strength. But when people of prayer die, death itself cannot silence them. Their prayers live on. When you pray, you are achieving things you can’t yet recognize or foresee.” Amen!
I appreciate the practicality in this book. As a layperson in the church it is important to have the mind of a leader and the mind of Christ. Throughout the text DuBose gives specific instruction with personal historical experiences that encourage you to build the altars. My heart has been encouraged, my responsibility has been elevated and I will apply these principles to my life. For my home, my church and my neighbor I will pray.
I pastor a church that has valued prayer personally and corporately for a few years now. We launched prayer services and push personal prayer times every week. What Rick does in "in Jesus Name" is give clear understanding as to why these spaces and more are important for The Church and the one I pastor.
Quite simply, you’ll never be the same again after you finish the first chapter. I had no idea what truly happened in heaven and on earth when I prayed…I do now, and my life has been forever changed.
i learned so much about prayer from this book, what i’ve learned is pushing and challenging me. our prayer life is so important and powerful for our families and the world around us. may God, through my prayer life, change outcomes.
