What a brilliant start to a paranormal romantic suspense series that's new
I devoured this book, enthralled, not wanting anything else to distract or do.
Set in Salem where the werewolves and witches don't mix
But now they need to work together as there's a serious problem they need to fix.
With the pack Alpha injured and no longer in his prime
He's decided that now starting his retirement would be a good time.
He's chosen Zeke O'Brien to take over leading the pack
Zeke's unsure but knows most of the pack will have his back.
Ruby Towne is a Salem witch who had a scare
And now of werewolves she's wary and aware.
But meeting Zeke, she trusts him she finds
Though others she still fears and minds.
Attraction between the two is forbidden in this town
But it builds and can't be held down.
Maybe it is fate's way to help them a killer's plans to thwart
With dark magic and danger, they don't want to be caught!
An engaging read that had me there right from the start,
With great characters, shifters, witches and magic playing a part.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book

Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. Meet Zeke of the Salem pack, and Ruby of the Coven of Light witches. Their story will grab you at the first chapter, draw you in, and keep you til the end. Feel the emotions as things heat up between them when Zeke discovers Ruby is his mate. This is great news as the Salem pack is on the verge of dying out without any young cubs to take over when the Alpha must retire. But there is a catch. A great start to a new series. Forbidden love, magic, werewolves and witches with fae blood. Ruby and Zeke were a wonderful couple with a lot of sizzle between them. What starts out as witches and werewolves not seeing eye to eye changes when an enemy is plotting against both. It turns out they are better together. This witch and werewolf will change all the rules.

I really loved this witch/shifter romance!! It’s absolutely fantastic! Wonderful drama, action, and magical adventure! Zeke is big, muscled, and a total sweetheart... even before he figures out how important Ruby is to him. If you want the yummiest book boyfriend, Lisa Kessler writes the very best!

Lisa Kessler gives us another fantastic book in a new series! The story of Ruby and Zeke is beautifully written with complex characters and plot twists that keep you turning pages throughout. I loved reading this book and highly recommend it. Don't miss out on this book!!

August 2, 2022This is the start of a new series and with just this story I am hooked on the series. After reading Zeke and Ruby's story I can't wait to see where the series goes from here and wish the next book was ready now. I have loved Lisa Kessler's books in the past, but have not read any recently as the subjects have changed and no longer were in my preferred types. This series has brought me back and I honestly can't wait to see what happens next.

I have enjoyed several series by Lisa Kessler. I'm looking forward to reading this series. I was introduced to the Salem pack in one of Lisa's other series. I like that this book isn't just about the pack. It also includes the local coven of witches. Wolves and witches aren't supposed to mix, but Zeke discovers that Ruby is his mate. I'm looking forward to book 2.

This is the first book in new series. Love the wolf pack books. The author makes the characters come to life, they are so multi dimensional. There is a new threat to this pack of wolves as well as the coven of witches. They join forces to fight back. As always, our main characters have an HEA. Can’t wait to read about the rest of the wolves in the pack.

First in a new pack series. From the start the story is filled with action. The pack is being attacked by hunters who are hired by the coven of shadows. A coven that uses dark magic and has no problem with death and killing. The coven of light is trying to stop them and protect the pack. The relationship between the light coven and the pack is interesting and has a dark past. But the future is changing and the soon to be new leaders might be more than allies.

Fun, entertaining magic filled romance! Exciting action and danger! Witches and shifters aren’t exactly best buddies, but things are going wonky, so these two groups are finding that they may need to help each other to survive. Sweet and passionate cuteness going on between Zeke and Ruby too! Excited for the rest of this series; seems like it’ll be an intriguing one!

I loved it. The whole story line was great. It had me from the beginning, with the drama and tension mixed in. I loved Zeke and Ruby with their chemistry. I look forward to more of this series. *I was gifted an Arc for my honest opinion.*

I like this forbidden romance between a wolf Alpha to be and a witch priestess to be. When the 99 year old alpha shifter becomes ill, Ruby goes to the pack farm with her mentor and meets the farm business manager and wolf Zeke. Zeke had not been exposed to the witches who have an arrangement with the pack but after meeting Ruby who is afraid of wolves he is intrigued by her and her role within his community. A heated encounters lead Zeke to believe that Ruby is his mate and as he is turning 40 he will not take the it is forbidden for witched and wolves to have a relationship. Between the hunters, the dark coven and peer pressure they must decide will they be banished, take there promotions or makes the changes necessary for them to be together.

Such an amazing beginning to a new series! I absolutely love the characters, each one is willing to grow and learn, and they are supportive of this couple. The author kept me on the edge of my seat with the action and danger surrounding the pack, and I enjoyed the intensity of a forbidden love. The author brought the pack and the coven full circle with this fate match and it added to the intensity of the story. This book was perfect for the weekend, and I can’t wait to read the next book! I’m in the market for a wolf boyfriend as it were.

It was way too short...... can't wait to watch this new group grow. I wish I could explain what was so captivating about this book ... I just cant find the words... what I will say is that most of the time I am a bit grumpy about how some writers over explain or over detail 🤔 not this time.... I wanted more information about this covin and pack.

I love this Book!
This book had me on the edge of my seat and kept me reading until the very end. I couldn’t put it down and just when I thought it was the end and was sad that it was ending; I’d turn the page and get even more of the story. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!

I didn't know how much I liked fated mate stories until I picked up Lisa Kessler's books! I loved having both wolves and witches in a book. There was a great mix of paranormal, romance, and suspense!

Two of my favorite paranormal entities in one book. As with all of Lisa's books, this one is fantastic, even though I felt it ended too soon. Definitely bumped up to one of my favorites!!!

While I enjoyed the characters I have a major issue with the fact that the reason they can't be together is that there's a (super serious yet completely unknown by anyone other than the leaders) rule started by the current alpha and the current coven leader that wolves and witches cannot be together. However, since our FMC and MMC are the next alpha and coven leader why can't they just change the rule when they take over? No one else apparently even knew it was forbidden.
To add to that the pack is dying off because nobody's having babies because nobody's finding their mate, and yet here he's found his mate but he's not allowed to have babies with her because of this arbitrary rule only recently established.
Make it make sense.

this book was fine! i like small town settings and so this was nice! i also liked that we got some insight on zeke's pack and it was fun to see all of their interactions. i kind of wish we got that for ruby's coven? because there's less impact and emotional stake when you don't know them.
i kind of both liked and disliked that zeke and ruby were on this same path together -- both reluctantly accepting leadership that's kind of being shoved onto them. nice in that they found comfort in each other but idk it felt a little corny? that's just my personal preference though.
overall, it was a fine first story and i'm unsure if i would continue this series but it was an entertaining read.

Great start to this series! Love this author’s werewolves. This series takes place in Salem, MA and werewolves and witches are leery about each other. Zeke’s pack is struggling – their alpha is ready to step down but doesn’t have a son to take over so they are in danger. Ruby has been tagged to become high priestess of her coven and she is struggling with the enormity of it. There is a dark coven is trying to come to full power by using werewolves. Ruby and Zeke will need to find a way to work together to defend the wolves and her coven. Looking forward to reading more!

Has rythm and overall fast, good build, hence giving it 3 points. But overall a bit simple, the mate-love-baby story bit bland, stereotyped and fast. Didn’t really touch me, and the side characters don’t really build either. I reckon book 2 will come out, but it would need a bored sunday afternoon for me to listen to the audiobook.

I liked Ruby and Zeke. I liked that both always deviated from what I expected. For example, I thought there would be a little enemies to lover vibe from the initial interaction, but these two faced things head on and began working together. I am very interested in the future of the witch and werewolf pack and look forward to seeing Ruby and Zeke in future books in this series.

This is a start of a new series by a great author. I enjoy the chemistry between to main characters. I really enjoyed how fate threw the witch and the wolf together but love saved them. I am looking forward to continuing this series.
