Will Gabriella and Bailey waltz off into the sunset or quickstep apart?
This is your basic lesfic fare, which there's nothing inherently wrong with - I just find myself wanting more these days. But I feel like a fair amount of you guys on goodreads would enjoy it!
Girl meets girl via an accident where she feels responsible and takes in the ailing woman, romance ensues. I didn't realize this had a bit of celebrity trope, the older woman 41, Gabriella, is a judge on one of those 'Dancing with the Stars' type of shows in England. She's very successful in the world of dance. Bailey is 28 and a car mechanic, who gets hit by Gabriella's driver and ends up with a fair few broken bones.
Both women are attracted to each other from the get go, but there's a heap of angsting about the 'age gap' which annoyed me in that we don't find out just how big the gap is until well after they are finally dating, (it's 13 years ftr) but the way they made it seem was as if it were far bigger than that!
Gabriella's own insecurities play out again and again, about her age, the gap, and her body. But I felt like it wasn't really believable. She's clearly a very attractive woman, who has maintained a high level of fitness by way of her dancing, so the idea that she's worried about her body felt a bit forced. But anywho. The women are steamy together, but I didn't feel the emotional pull.
There's some drama going on with Gabriella's dance school, and some fun friend side characters. But there was nothing really wow-worthy (to me) here. But again I can see how many would find it appealing - so by all means check it out on KU.
This is Elle‘s first solo novel and also my first book I have read by her. I did that during a few days I was personally struggling. And I’m so happy I did.
Bailey and Gabriella meet because of an accident where Bailey gets hurt badly. Gabriella‘s feels guilty and bad because of it and takes Bailey to her home after the hospital stay. Both feel an attraction to each other but think the other isn’t interested. While for Bailey it’s mostly the thought what the famous tv and ex dance star would want from her, for Gabriella her insecurities make her believe that being more than 10 years older is way too much. So they both approach each other slowly and they take their time. I really loved their pace and also that the story was very low on angst. They have their troubles of course, but personally for me feeling as low as I did this read was perfect.
Besides their love story Gabriella also has to deal with some troubles at the dance studio, which made the storyline even better for me.
All in all I totally enjoyed this book and think Elle has done a wonderful job. I also loved how she thought of little details like car insurances and that women actually are having their period sometimes. ☺️ these everyday things make me relate to a story even more and I appreciate very much that Elle has included them.
Bailey is a mechanic living a simple life ... until she falls in love. Suddenly she's caught up in a much more high profile life with the woman she adores.
Gabriella is a TV star and dance queen whose icy on screen persona belies her lack of confidence off screen.
Armstrong manages to bring both of these women to life and put them through the ringer, showing us that while life never runs smooth, it's the dance of love that really makes our hearts sing.
Excellent characters, a story with just enough drama, moments of heartbreak and plenty of held breath moments of suspense.
I absolutely love this book! A beautiful HOT/funny/age gap love story! A favorite! Gabriella is an award winning dancer, who owns 2 dance studios and is a popular judge on a dance competition! One day she was in traffic and late for the studio and her driver floors it and accidentally hits Bailey, an excellent mechanic crossingthe road. Fèeling guilty she goes to the hospital with Bailey, and makes sure she gets the best care, telling the drs and nurses she's her cousin. After Bailey wakes up, Gabriella goes to visit her and offers her home to rehab at. And so it begins... Deserves more than 5 stars!
This was a pretty good age gap, celebrity romance. I liked the premise and the two main characters, Bailey and Gabriella. I could see a couple of plot devices coming, but it didn’t lessen my enjoyment of the book. The meetings with Bailey’s friends were fun, especially with the crush one friend had on Gabriella.
There were two things that threw me off, the scene when the owner overhears a conversation about an employee and does nothing for a long time, and the scene in the dance studio when a “small girl” ran into the room. Because this studio teaches children, I thought she was a kid. I was so confused that the child was an employee, it took me out of the story and I had to reread the section. The employee problem I could see going to the back burner for a while because of the crash. Otherwise, this was a fun read and lovely romance between two likable women.
This is the author's first solo book. I liked the characters of Gabriella and Bailey (Bailey was my favourite). I enjoyed the start of the book but towards the halfway point I was losing interest but it picked up again after a few chapters. As much as I liked the book, I didn't feel the chemistry between the main characters. It felt like they were friends with benefits more than lovers (it could just be me - most of this year I have been on a reading slump and just starting to get back into reading).
All in all, for a debut solo book, it is worth a read.
It’s a good read, nothing much not to like..apart from 1 character. The one thing that kinda bugged me though was the switching between names. You’d start off with bailey and then it would swap to bailz in the same bit, same with gabz . Nothing against nicknames but it kinda started to annoy me. Probably just me, and doesn’t take away from the story.
I found it enjoyable. The characters were, on the whole, were believable. With all the insecurities that go with live. The one thing that made me uncomfortable was the scene at the beginning when she didn’t do more to find out who the predator was. After getting through that part, the story progressed at a steady pace. I enjoy slow burn stories and this one didn’t disappoint.
This is a straight forward very sweet age gap romance, with nice and lifelike charcters all around. The story is pretty straight with only some kinks, that get sorted out quickly and with courage be the protagonists., A very satisfying experience. Thank you Elle Armstrong.
4,5 * This totaly hit the spot for me. It was sweet as well as hot. I liked both main characters, there was no major drama it was mostly about the journey of Gabriela and Bailey's relationship and liked that. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is becouse the last 15-20% were maybe too mushy and sweet even for me and one thing bothered me a little bit and that was Gabriella's eye color, one moment they were described brown then they were blue, brown, blue again, I mean pick a color would you.. :D Majority of the book was totaly great and I recomend it to anyone who wants sweet and spicy read with minimum drama. Perfect book to cuddle up with on the sofa with glass of wine. Well done. I will definately be on a look out for another of Elle Armstrong books.
For a first solo book, this one was a "doozy"! I was totally absorbed into this story from the first page. The story was engaging and different from any others I'd read in quite a while. The theme was one I hadn't read about before. As I've never been much of a dancer, it surprised me how deeply I got into Bailey's efforts to surprise her love. Thank you for giving of your talent and imagination. Please let it be the first of many!
I really enjoyed this story. Both Bailey and Gabriela are warm, loving women... although you couldn't really tell at first, as Bailey is a mechanic in a "mans" world, so she has to be pretty forthright and Gabriela has a "frosty" image she cultivates for TV. Good story and I like how the author incorporates the side story with the misogynistic sexual predator. Well done!
An exceedingly interesting way to meet someone get hit by their car. Its an unlikely plot the meeting between a TV star and a nmechanic. Its exceedingly unlikely but I guess it could happen. Lovely twists and turns and an age gap romance. Throwbin a billion as well. A lovely first solo novel by an author I plan to follow.
Girl hits girl with car, takes care of her during rehab and both girls fall madly in love. This is a sweet romance with a lot of really funny scenes. Great read to while away an afternoon.
The story is a little juvenile for me. There was absolutely no angst or buildup to the romance. It was more just reading the lives of the characters which made it hard for me to buy into. It lacked fire and passion. The characters also seemed way younger than what their age implies so a lot of their dialogue was hard for me to read. It just wasn't the book for me.
