A month from now, you'll wish you had started today.
Yes, a month is all it takes to see long-term results.
And seriously - even YOU can lose that weight!
Food and exercise fads come and go, mainly because they just aren't sustainable. After a few days, you're hungry, bored, or hungry AND bored. That's why the Today show's very first lifestyle and fitness correspondent, Jenna Wolfe, created her famous 30-Day Fitness Challenge for her viewers. The challenge was wildly successful because of its unprecedented and simple approach to everyday health and fitness - one small tip a day for 30 days.
Now, in Thinner in 30, Jenna takes her foolproof program to the next level, giving you the tools and motivation you'll need to achieve your wellness goals with 30 small changes that add up to big results - in as few as 30 days. It's all possible without joining a gym, counting calories, or signing up for a trendy class you can't even pronounce. The perfect plan for busy men and women of all ages and fitness levels, Thinner in 30 puts the focus on small, bite-size tips which lead to long-term weight loss.
Jenna blends athletic wisdom, laugh-out-loud humor, and easy-to-follow advice, like how many times to chew your food per bite, what the heck carbs are all about, and how to sneak in workouts without any time, money, equipment, or energy (pretty much covering any excuse you may have). Thinner in 30 will help you discover just how easy it is to get healthy without having to deprive yourself or work out 12 hours a day.
4 in 30 stars I think this is a good book for those that have not tried to work out or lose weight. Now for someone with those pesky pounds its a little less awesome but then again most of her tips I am already following... lets me honest we all sometimes fail at not eating simple carbs after 6pm for various reasons. it was refreshing how simple she made everything sound.. but I think I need a drill instructor to yell my fat out of me!
*I received this copy for free from Goodreads first reads. Thank you to the author/publisher for providing this book.
I know that the key to losing the weight and keeping it off is lifestyle change, and that it must happen in small steps or I will fail. Some of the steps are common to anyone who is consciously trying to lose weight: cut out added sugars, exercise more etc, but the book goes into detail about at home workouts (no equipment needed), examples of healthy pre/post workout snacks, charts of fruits and vegetables to work into a healthier lifestyle. Originally I wanted to read and follow the plan as I went, but found as the month passed I was going to forget the previous steps which you have to keep doing as you add each change. After finishing the book I am going to instead make a check list for the month and add a few changes at a time until at least most of the changes are happening and the plan becomes habit. Even if all you do is read the book you start to become aware throughout the day of things to change….sit up straight, tighten those core muscles, move during the commercials instead of being a couch potato.
I received this book from GoodReads in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this book. Everything is broken down into small, easy to manage steps to help you achieve a healthier lifestyle. It’s so easy, it really leaves you with no excuses to not do it.
Not everyone has the time (or money) to spend in an expensive gym; so the workout exercises you can do at home were great.
What to/What not to eat section was helpful. No weird food that a normal person wouldn’t want to eat anyway.
The author also included motivational tips that most books ignore. ‘Don’t hide behind baggy clothes when you work out. See the areas you are working on.’ ‘Set goals and reward yourself for achieving them.’ Etc.
Yeah a lot of these tips can be seen as common sense. But when these common sense steps are arranged in a specific order, they produce result in a way that you have obviously not achieve yet or you wouldn’t have bought the book. Right?
Anyway, I really like the book and I’ve lost 8 lbs. so far; so I’m happy. I’ll give up oxygen before I give up my ice cream, but everything else is really doable.
The book contains everything for fitness, it will motivate you and guide you properly. If you follow this book step by step ,you will definitely see a remarkable change within yourself.
While most diet/fitness books waste time with so many studies using so many words and so many pages before you get some information that you would loose interest before getting started.
Each chapter starts with a small paragraph called Simply Put. basically everything in nutshell. The primarily goal of this book is to change our life.To make the plan as successful as possible. We all want to loose the wanted or the excess fat from our body for that we follow so many strict diets plans , do exercises, still many people cant achieve the desired results .
Whatever the reason be - May be we want to lose the baby weight. or whether we hate looking older than our actual age,or if you dont want to have a heart attack at just 40 For that reason ,instead of thinking that everything will change about your life tonight is wrong, we have to start one thing and the another. One small change . Every day. For one month.
A good diet/exercise book with an outline of things to do for 30 days. Well written and easily comprehended. I made a copy of the contents page to keep as a quick reminder of the steps and suggestions. I found her conversations with her parents fun.
This is an excellent resource on healthy weight loss and living an active lifestyle. Everything is broken down into manageable tips, there are step by step photographs of the workouts, not all of the workouts require the participant to be able to stand, there are simple recipes and all of the important parts are written in boldface for easy note taking.
This book is an exercise and makeover type book. But it doesn't focus on fixing any one thing. It just is a bunch of small easy changes that you can make gradually and at your own pace. Well, I am close to having completed my 30 day project. I couldn't finish in 30 days due to injury. I was trying to do each change on its set day but had to stop. I will continue as soon as I am able to do so. I did read the whole book and it is working for me. I feel tons better than I did when I started it. The author doesn't try to preach too much and she isn't trying to sell you on anything except yourself. The exercises are easy and the instructions are pretty clear. This is the only exercise/makeover book I have ever bought and I almost completed it but hurt myself in a accident and had to sideline the exercise. I did lose weight and have been feeling much better over all. I am a changed person, ha!
Thirty tricks or easy step to introduce in your "normal" life to lose weight but not the pleasure of eating. Some of them are so easy you wonder why you didn't think about doing that before, some others are not so easy but getting gradually to them smooth things. Not your usual motivational book and not even the usual diet+exercise, which is something I really appreciate :)
THANKS TO NETGALLEY AND GRAND CENTRAL PUBLISHING FOR THE PREVIEW!
I loved Wolfe's easy breezy style and the chapters are broken down into easy to follow steps that are totally doable. I like the concept of making small changes and she doesn't waste time with too much fluff. It hasn't been 30 days since I finished this book, but I have already incorporated several of the "small changes" and I hope to have big results. Thank you to Grand Central Publishing for the advanced copy.
I listened to Jenna Wolfe's Thinner in 30 to get me revved up for the new year, and she has a great, upbeat style. There are items that require the physical book or downloadable PDFs for additional info, but the audiobook is great about explaining each of the steps and some of the whys of each step. It is not a recipe books or one of those books where the author slaps your hand and tells you never to do certain things. It starts out with slow steps (starting your day with a little water, journaling what you eat), and slowly ratchets things up. By the end of the month, you should be more active and self-aware. There are also plenty of little tips like sit up straight, tighten your core, and scrunch your butt for a little extra oomph. Not every detail of the book is for every reader, but it is a great boost to get people in the right mindset to get healthy.
I always liked Jenna Wolfe on the Today Show. Here she gives 30 tips to help you be more healthy and lose weight. Nothing you haven't heard before, just put together in a new package. It's always good to have refresher and find new motivation. I enjoyed listening to her narration, except that she used her parents as the butt of too many jokes. That got old and she needs to give mom a break! Otherwise, off to get my 10,000 steps, hydrate, kick sugar once and for all, and do some strength training.
I absolutely love this book! I finally found a book that teaches you how to make subtle changes to your diet and exercise regimes that produce results without making you feel you are dieting. I love the exercises featured in this book which are thoroughly explained. This is the perfect book for anyone looking to make some positive changes in their lifestyle and see results.
I like this book because the idea is that you pick it up and read a little bit each day. It’s like grabbing a quick snack instead of sitting down for a big meal. You don’t need a huge time commitment.
Take the tips you like, leave the ones you don’t, and hopefully a healthy habit or two will stick with you for life. 30 days later, you can put the book on your shelf or pass it onto a friend.
I thought this book had simple, practical advice. Full disclosure, I didn’t complete all of the changes, but two really changed my life. Drinking 20 sips of water first thing in the morning and keeping a food log. These two simple changes have revolutionized my weight loss journey. A great book for those looking for small, practical things to do.
Good tips for both fitness and eating well, especially for someone who is just setting out into these two fields. The language is accessible, and I loved the little bits of humour the author adds when talking of her family and parents. Made for a very light and enjoyable, yet informative read.
Good premise. The concept of the individual changes that you make each day to add up to something bigger, but its more for those who are starting out rather than those who have a knowledge and understanding of the basics.
I like Jenna’s enthusiasm and how she walks through the steps for each day. Her personality definitely shows through her reading of this book. I have 3 versions of this book (audio, digital, and paperback) - it is an easy read and easy listen - helps to drive in the points she is making.
A book that gives you gradual changes to make to get fit and get your weight under control. The first one starts with drinking the right amount of water. I'm going to try and see how it goes. I really like the book and think it has a lot of good ideas in it.
I've lost 9 lbs in a month with a lot of her tips and tricks. I like her methods because she doesn't make you diet. It's a lifestyle change. Let's go another 9lbs for month 2!
Simple, practical, rational process to lose weight and tone up. Nicely written for behavior modification. If only it came with 3 weeks of personal training with the author.....
I really enjoyed this book! It is the simple things in our days that we need to work on and pay attention to when looking to make some important health changes.
I really liked this one! Most things I do already but really good tips and ways to make small changes that will add up to big results. And it was actually fun to read too!
