Dawn loves to write Christian romance, suspense, and women's fiction, as well as fantasy with a Christian worldview. She took first place in the Contemporary Romance category, as well as winning the Grand Prize, in the Writers On the Storm Category Five writing competition. She lives in the high desert of Southern Arizona with her husband of 20 years and a variety of critters, furred and feathered. Besides writing and spending time with friends, she enjoys crochet, photography, scrapbooking, spinning yarn from wool and alpaca, and lots and lots of reading.
Terry made a promise to her dying adoptive father that she would find her brother and would join the forces like him. Wes made a promise to Terry that he would die trying to protect Terry's life. So many promises made by so many people for the person they love and how they keep up to it. Promises by Dawn M. Turner is a book that teaches to keep the promises no matter how hard it is. This book takes us on a mysterious journey of Terry's life along with her mysterious protector, Wes Donovan.
Sudden arrival of Wes in the middle of a drug ring investigation makes Terry highly uncomfortable, about him. Besides feeling an air of mystery around Wes, she badly gets attracted to his charms. So she maintains a distance. But the threat calls from a mysterious man, doesn't keep Terry away from Wes, since he get very persistent to get close with Terry. And because of the dangers of her own life, she pushes Wes away. But a sudden attack on her fellow detective, Wes sweeps Terry from her home and hides her into his country side home. Living together for so many weeks brings Terry and Wes together. He learns his secret and she learns his. But after her arrival to her office, she gets to learn that she has a grandfather and that Wes was sent by her grandfather to look after her. Terry coils to her shell one more time after learning this hardcore truth. But when she was kidnapped by that mysterious phone caller, things get changed and gets more dangerous. Who knows what the future holds for Wes and Terry?
The story is highly captivating and thrilling. Similar to Terry's life, the story always keeps you on the edge. The author has created Terry as a very strong woman, who can take on any man physically by her strength, loves to live on the edge by playing with danger, and also keeps to herself almost all the time. On the other hand, Wes seems to be very brooding and brave and literally jumps into the fire by killing his life to save Terry. Day-b-day, their chemistry grew stronger and stronger and soon we can feel an undeniable temptation between the two. Terry's chemistry with her brother Mark is very protective and sweet. Mark always acts like his big brother, scolds her when needed and pulls her legs to piss her off. The author has shown us through Terry that how we should fight our past demons. The whole plot is filled in a mist of thrilling mystery and an appealing love story unfolding very slowly just as the mystery gets thicker and thicker. And thus making the book a completely engaging red right from the very beginning.
A huge thanks to the author for giving me an opportunity to read and review her book.
If you love this edgy thrilling mystery-cum-romantic tale, we should definitely read this for sure.

Terry O'Reilly meets Wes Donovan when he is assigned to protect her from someone. Their relationship is rocky, to say the least. This is a good, strong Christian story with many twists and turns. It held my attention from the beginning; I just didn't want to stop reading; needed to see what would happen next. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes a book with a good scripture message. This is the first time I read this author and I will definitely be wanting more of her books. I read the sequel, Beyond Hope right after this one and am so glad I did.
This story demonstrates how the pressure of a career in law enforcement can stress personal relationships without mentioning the physical dangers which seem to be more evident now than even in the mid 70's. It was enjoyable to see the origin of the Donovan clan covered in other stories by this author.
Wow this book was so amazing, I didn't want this book to end. The characters you will fall in love with some of them. Please read these books from this author.😊
I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway and I was excited that it was a signed copy. I enjoyed the book. It had a good balance of romance and faith with a little suspense and action. I'm looking forward to reading some of her other books.
