Sara Wright writes dystopian fantasy set in futuristic, broken kingdoms where courage is tested, hope is dangerous, and survival is never guaranteed. Her stories blend fantasy, sci-fi, and clean romance into high-stakes adventures where characters must rise against oppressive regimes.

From a young age, imagination was her constant companion, sparking vivid visions of distant realms she would one day turn into epic tales for readers on Earth. You’ll often find her singing along to her favorite music while channeling that creativity onto the page.

a great mix of fantasy and technology.

This book was a fun mix of elemental magic and Star Trek level of galaxy travel. The author did a great job building Xendara’s character and her level of growth.

The sneak peek at book 2 was also a great lead up and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Crown Princess Xendara from Xardenora is on a mission of tree restoration. She is joined by her best friend Acacia, Oaky (Chancellor Oakwood), King Oren, her father, princes from the six sister planets, like the childhood friend and pilot Prince Darijus from Regvald and Prince Xalvador from Desdemona.

As descendants of the ancient Progenitors they use their powers and technologies to help revive other planets, but that doesn’t always go smoothly. The Great Accident, with many lives lost, still overshadows their achievements.

Every 7k years, a new Progenitor reveals themselves, but the new one has not done it yet. The new Progenitor also possesses all the knowledge from before.

As Xendara progresses helping worlds during her mission, suddenly the convoy is attacked by a mysterious enemy.

Now Xendara must become the Queen just as mysterious new powers are emerging in her and the Prophecy is getting revealed, holding a difficult choice for her.

I loved reading this Sci-Fi/Fantasy story! It had a beautiful world building, fun characters and an intriguing storyline. The main hero, Xendara, was likeable right from the start. The story pulled me in as I learned more about the Golden Wood trees, the fantastical powers, and the budding romance.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a beautifully written fantasy!

Review - Time Crystal (prequel):
A quick introduction into the world of the Six Systems
We have a piece of crystal, a prophecy, and a portal. What else could readers want?
The rest of the story in ‘The Progenitor’ then ‘The Equinox’ (to be released 6 Dec).
‘May you prosper as the Golden Wood trees!’

Review - Progenitor:
The universe needs more trees.

The universe also needs more people helping each other, whether it be with gainful employment, sustainable agriculture, safe shelter, and the list goes on. And to do so in harmony with nature. Just imagine what life would be like then if we used technology only for the betterment of the universe!

I like how the author employs arboreal terms. Personal names such as Acacia & Oakwood, terms of endearment like “my sprout”, and the phrase “you’ve grown like a tree” add to the nature motif.
Fave quote:
‘Sometimes the forest has to burn before it can be rebuilt.’

Also, the author (intentionally or not) contrasts technology against nature. Or rather, the malignant use of technology in the form of metamorphs. There’s a lot of good stuff in here about bio-ethics. At what point do we stop augmenting our bodies? Who governs the reasons why we would do so? And who chooses him/her/them? Etc.

The romance aspect of this reminds me of the fights for and with Queen Elizabeth I. *Totally* get why she remained The Virgin Queen…

Starting the next in series (Equinox), which releases 6 Dec.

This was a solid intro into the series and a great fit for those dipping toes into the sci-fi/fantasy blended genre. The world building is stunning and I loved the character development. There’s an underlying mystery throughout that keeps readers entertained and engaged. The possibilities are truly endless for how the series continues.

Very enjoyable tale placed in some near future version of life, with 6 terraformed planets and all kinds of interesting people. Good good guys and bad bad guys. The only puzzling thing for me was why the author kept having the princess get zapped and go unconscious or into a coma. Trecherous life, I guess. I did want to find out how it all worked out, but didn't want to pay for the next saga.

Very cool YA sci-fi! Such an interesting space world and very vividly described. This felt completely unique to me! Loved the strong protagonist too, and so appreciated the character:

"Apparently, you don't know what I am capable of."

Just one quote from our MC. You'll be taken on an adventurous ride. With good romance too. Looking forward to seeing where this series goes!

Although this book has some aspects that I really enjoyed, I found it impossible to continue reading it due to the writing style.

From the beginning Sara introduces you to the world and planetary system in a way that is a bit confusing in the first few paragraphs because we start to see Xendara already talking about an event that is about to happen without providing enough information about it. However, this is soon sorted out enough to be able to make me engaged with it, and the mix of both technology and fantasy was interesting enough to make me want to keep reading.

I really appreciated the resemblance in certain scenes to Start Trek and Star Wars.

The problem is that the narrative lacks depth. Most of the things that happen were being told in a few sentences and paragraphs instead of showing it to us, the readers through descriptions and scenes, and what Sara shows is only the beginning of an issue or event, and the denouement is told later. This, combined with the time jumps, made me feel that the book was too shallow, lacked character and world development, and in the long run it ended up boring me.
---------------------------------

The Progenitor Chronicles by @SaraWrightbooks for @katieandbreyPA book tours and here is what I thought.

Xendara is a princess and the unwitting star of a prophecy. Her father took her memories to hide her until it was time. When her father is murdered and her best friend is her betrothed, another memory her father hid, to set her on the path he believed was the right one.

What if he was wrong? As Xendara takes the throne and feeling her powers grow, she has to be careful as a group who believe in the path of fire not water are coming for her. They are coming to make her change her path and use the power of the Ancients to build a brand new galaxy.

I’m not going to lie, the synopsis for this book wasn’t awe inspiring but it sounded decent enough for me to crack open. So glad I did.

Sara weaves a beautiful tale of friendship and hope in this young adult fantasy series. Xendara was such a likable character and I felt she was so sweet and gentle that trying to imagine her as a leader started out difficult but as she grew in the book, I could see just how important and needed she truly was. I loved Darijus too. He really rounded out Xendara and the fact she was the Progenitor didn’t phase him and he had no interest in using her for her powers either. I loved the descriptions of the worlds they visited and how beautiful the images were in my head.

Once I was in, I was so in I couldn’t put it down. Thankfully book 2 was already waiting for me, so I will leave you with this. If you are a fan of fantasy in a sci-fi world, this series is a winner.

4 stars. Thank you for my review copy and if you want to join in with book tours, check out Katie and Brey PA

I really enjoyed this book immensely. The worldbuilding is very intricate and the characters are very relatable. In the beginning i had a hard time following all the characters names but in time its not so bad. The whole idea of the progenitors and the different powers on different planets as well as the sentient trees was so unique and clever, as were the different species. Bi particularly thought the texvedans were very cool. It was a pretty intense ride but i enjoyed every minute of it and I'm really excited to see where it goes from here.

A lovely read! PG is good!

I love the universe Ms Wright has created. She introduced her world as the characters learned Best part, the Golden wood trees. I have to get past the ending, because I really love the trees. A delightful read, already has the sequel.

The Progenitor is a brilliant sci-fi story about a young woman named Xendara who is destined to rule. Upon the sudden death of her father and the realisation that Xendara has powers no one else does, Xendara is forced to uncover a web of secrets alongside her childhood friends, Acacia and Darijus, and their choices could change the fate of the entire Six Systems.

There were two things I absolutely adored about this novel. The first is the world building. Wright has clearly put a lot of careful thought into the Six Systems and their inhabitants and I think any sci-fi lover will totally nerd out over these. The inhabitants of each planet have their own unique powers and cultures and they are explored really nicely in the novel, information about them incorporated into Xendara’s journey smoothly and usefully.

The second thing I loved was the relationships. Acacia makes the most wonderful best friend, teasing Xendara when things get too serious and rooting for her no matter what. And I simply adore Darijus, I’ve decided he will be my next book boyfriend. He's so strong, kind, smart, can be vulnerable, brave, and loves Xendara for who she is. There's magic on the page whenever he's near her. And then there’s Xendara’s relationship with her dad, this man she so looks up to but kept so many secrets from her. The moment when he dies is literally heart wrenching. I felt like I was there and I am not a cryer but oh my gosh, if I was, I would have been balling. It’s beautifully written and so in the moment.

I did feel, however, that some moments got skipped over too fast. I understand that in a galaxy as complex as the Six Systems, not everything can be explored in one novel (so glad there’s a second one!) but I did feel like there were some things that were simply explained to have gone well or badly and then we move on, but I really wanted to see those things happen. There’s also unexpected POV shifts that drew me out of the story a little, the first half is from Xendara’s POV and then at some point we hear from Darijus, which is awesome because I love him, but I did find it a little jarring.

Overall, an absolutely epic sci-fi/fantasy adventure filled with mystery, found family, chosen one vibes, a good old prophecy, and love. There’s lots of great pacing, the tension and suspense are brilliant, especially in the second half. I would recommend this novel to any sci-fi lover who enjoys great details of world building and awesome characters you will fall in love with and root for!

This story is really a weak 4. I like the story but in truth it drags a little. It is simple but that just may be because it is a YA series. I do plan to read the next book.

The Progenitor by Sara Wright
Thank you @katieandbreypa and @sarawrightbooks for this amazing novel in exchange for my honest review.

My thoughts are wow. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this sci-fi novel. But I loved it. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a mixture of The Hunger Games(without the bloodshed more of its political aspect) and Divergent(the split fractions of different people).
The vast world building, extensive amount of characters and the budding clean YA romance.
I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
