A book that evoke a lot of thinking about one's own life. A subject that any man should understand, even if they have never been there themselves.

Bought this little novella on Monday and finished it on a Tuesday. An excellent story about an aging cattle herder who meets an attractive young woman at a an auction yard and has to fight the urges of the "grass is greener" syndrome. This was beautifully written with some real tension (heart was in my mouth during the auction scene) and some fascinating insight into cattle herding and auctions. I really enjoy reading books that are as well researched as this because I feel like I've taken away some knowledge as well as just enjoyed the story. In short, I'm glad it wasn't longer because I couldn't put it down until I had finished and I hate getting to sleep after midnight. Excellent story. Recommended.

Once again, I am totally biased here, but this is a really good story that I am very proud of. I hope at least a few careful readers will take the time to really look and see what I have attempted to do.

I like this novella quite a bit. It's a well written study in middle age relationships, temptation, and personal decisions. For a book of it's length, the characters were reasonably well fleshed out. This was my first time reading something by this author; I'll be happy to read more from him.
