Magical. The illustrations are pure perfection.

Each page shows a child with their unique grandfather, creating a special memory with each other.

The illustrator is definitely someone to watch for. Each picture is mesmerizing to me because there is something reminiscent and real in the pictures. Many seem to capture some subtle familiar movement or expression. Let's see if I can explain...

The look between a girl and her grandfather as they fish is alive with that special gleam of glee.

The girl playing soccer with her grandfather as he throws himself into the challenge -- you can feel the strength of his arms as he hunches over and prepares to block. One of side of his mouth and eyebrow are raised in a barely perceptible playful challenge.

A boy and his grandfather lean into the fierce wind as they joyfully fly a kite. Their coats whip around them unnoticed by the pair as they are enraptured with the moment.

The hammock slowly sways as the girl curls up napping on her grandfather as he exults in the relaxing perfect moment.

A proud grandfather with wizened eyes watches his granddaughter contemplate her next chess move, while she takes a moment to steal a glance up at him through her eyelashes.

The moment of impact when a grandson meets his grandfather in the doorway exploding full force before he's had a moment to put anything down. His face radiant with the joy of so much love.

Grandfather and grandson take a moment to survey their hard work nearly completing clearing the walkway of snow. You know that moment where you lean back to stretch your back and rest with a satisfied smile? Illustrator nailed it.

A hand straining to reach for the proffered tool while grandfather is under the car, with little one looking on in fascination.

There were others, but those are my favorites. A definite buy for the grandparents to read to your kids.

Super cute picture book with just a few words on each page. Each page depicts a young child doing things with their grandpa.
First page text is "Morning reading time" it then shows grandpa in a chair reading a paper with a boy on the floor at his feet reading too.

I received a copy from author/publisher in exchange for my honest opinion. The following review is my own and will not be affected by this.

Cristian and I decided to read Time together for our bedtime story the other night. He seemed to really enjoy it, it takes him a while to sit through an entire bedtime story but Time Together-Me & Grandpa really caught his attention and I would have to say it was because the illustrations were gorgeous.

The book is illustrated by Pascal Campion. The illustrations like I said are gorgeous. The book has few words but I felt like the illustrations could have told the story on its own. The people in the illustration looked genuinely happy to be in each other's company. My son would often tell me what the people in the books were doing before I had read the story. I thought it was neat to see him so engaged in the book.

What I really liked about the book was its message. The importance of spending time with your grandparents rather it be simply reading next to each other or lay down next to each other, you are spending time with one another. I think that is a really important message. The story was very simple but carried a great message of quality time. The illustrations were great and helped really bring the story together.

Like I said, I usually struggle to get my son to sit still through an entire bedtime story but this book he sat threw and even made up his own story based on the illustrations. We would definitely recommend!

Sometimes simple is just the best. This adorable book documents precious moments spent with Grandpa. Quality time, abounding love, and special relationships are portrayed in scenarios of fishing, gardening, fixing, kite flying, building, grilling, late night snacking, star gazing and many, many more.

The illustrator captures the tenderness of these moments by giving the characters direct eye contact, abundant smile-sharing, close, snuggly body contact and an overall feeling of contentment and happiness by just spending time together. These are treasured times between a grandchild and a Grandpa that they will hold in their hearts for a lifetime. These unforgettable memories being passed from one generation to the next will surely influence how that grandchild will be when he/she too becomes a Grandpa or Grandma. They will remember those heart-encounters .... and so the legacy will go. The overall message of the book.... ANYTIME is the right and best time to spend with Grandpa!" Amen.

Disclaimer: I received a free digital ARC of this book from NetGalley.

Time Together: Me & Grandpa features illustrations of children enjoying reading, building, and playing with their grandfathers. It is complemented by minimal text (usually 3-5 words for each illustration).

While I LOVE the theme that bonding with family is important and found a few of the illustrations really impressive, I can't exactly get behind the choice to use minimal text. First of all, I thought it may be good for children learning to read who can read along and sound out the words; however, some of the words were simply too large and not age appropriate for sounding out (ie "ultimate").

Second of all, on the back cover was a cute line: "Me and Grandpa are birds of a feather; we love each other and our time together" and I think a lyrical story like that would have better served the illustrations and theme.

Synopsis: "Snapshots of a grandpa and child enjoying every day moments together. From taking a nap to reading the newspaper, these small moments are the ones that create big memories."

My Review: This was a NetGalley request for an honest review. I was instantly captured by the cover of this book, it made me instantly think about my own grandpa and what I want my son to have with his grandfathers. The book continued in the same fashion, featuring children and grandpas of all races sharing those special simple moments to be remembered. I particularly loved the phrase on the back cover "Me and Grandpa are birds of a feather. We love each other and our time together." which maybe the theme for the series (I will have to get more books in the Time Together series). This was definitely a wonderful and yet simple book to cherish.

Time together: Me and Grandpa by Maria Chatherine is mostly a collection of snapshot. Scenes depicting grandfathers and their grandchildren doing fun activities together. If you give this book to a kid, they might use it as inspiration when it comes to planning the next outing with grandpa.

What I enjoyed most of the book where the illustrations by Pascal Campion, which are simple and yet filled with details. What I also liked a lot the diversity of people that appear on each illustration. In my times (I know I sound ancient, but what else can I do?) I think I only came a cross a couple of book with that characteristic, it’s nice to see some more making their way into the shelves.

I got this book from NetGalley.

The pictures are on two page spreads and show a grandpa and child engaged in a variety of lovely activities. They are delightful and I love the fact that so many diverse characters are used to represent the Grandpa and child. The text is usually limited to just three or four words on each pair of pages - but they aren’t always easy to read words (e.g. thoughtful) so I presume this is designed for an adult to read with a child, rather than for independent reading. They do give a snapshot of activities the pair may engage in and could promote discussions. A cute book.

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a charming little book illustrating the good times kids spend with their grandpas: flying kites, going fishing, reading the newspaper...They did a wonderful job of illustrating a wide variety of activities so there's definitely something for everyone! They also did a wonderful job of mixing up the children between boys and girls - and not necessarily pairing them with gender-biased activities (a girl is going fishing, a girl is playing soccer, etc.) I loved the illustrations and the few words on each page made this a wonderful book for grandparents to share with their little ones before they can even share in the activities listed :)

While the milestones in one's life are certainly important, when it comes to relationships, it's the little ones that count. Each of the illustrations shows a grandfather and his offspring engaging in simple pleasures such as fishing, reading together, working in the garden, repairing a car, sharing a late night snack or even lying in the backyard, staring up at the star-filled sky. The sentiments can be generalized from the simple text and the poignant illustrations, making this a good title to share with family members. In some respects, the book reminds me of The Quiet Book and The Loud Book, possibly because of the minimal but perfectly stated text.

CBZ Book Review:

A relationship between Grandparent and child is very important. In this case it's a relationship with Grandpa to be exact. Small minuscule moments are big moments in a child's life. Those few minutes of reading a book, teaching a child to fish or just spending special time together is how you create memories and unique bonds. Bonds that neither time or distance can erase.

This precious book reminds us of those bonds. Shared with beautiful art work and few words,Time Together:Me and Grandpa by Maria Catherine is a special treat.

This is a wonderful picture book showing the things that a child can do with a grandpa. I think it is a good book for a Grandpa to give to a Grandchild and vice versa, giving ideas for things they can do together. Then they should do it, and refer to it also being in the book. Great illustrations as well. Reviewed for NetGalley and Capstone Young Readers.

The story was fine, and the illustrations were good too, but only a few of the illustrations really stood out to me as exceptional. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a free e-galley of this book.

Cortito, muy cortito. Me ha puesto un poco triste porque mi abuelo falleció hace menos de un año.
Este tipo de libros me gusta, casi no hay texto pero aún así transmite algo.
