Patrick Jackson is the Founder of Learning Like Crazy, an Internet-based foreign-language learning company. Some of Learning Like Crazy’s most popular foreign-language learning products are Learning Spanish Like Crazy, Verbarrator, Learning Italian Like Crazy, and Fast Lane Advanced Spanish. Patrick lives the life of his dreams in Medellín, Colombia. “La Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera” or the City of Eternal Spring. Patrick developed the Learning Spanish Like Crazy method to teach conversational Latin American Spanish. He developed the realizing that all of the Spanish courses on the market did not teach the Spanish that Latin American actually speak in Latin America and even urban areas in the US. Unlike many other Spanish courses (i.e “commercial Spanish courses”), Learning Spanish Like Crazy teaches you how to speak spoken Latin American Spanish as opposed to textbook or formal Spanish. The course is all audio.
Great for helping me to bring back my lost Spanish from the Peru years. Focuses on spoken Spanish rather than grammar, so if you are wanting to understand the grammar, conjugations, tenses, etc.,this is not for you. However, if you just want to learn the patterns of speaking, and some decent vocabulary, this is very helpful. Planning on looking into the Intermediate Bundle next.
I received this free for review and because it's the type of audio book that will take awhile to get through, it's about 30 hours long and I am re-listening to lessons to help memorize them, I decided to write the review now. If you want to learn Spanish I highly recommend this bundle. I have listened to free podcasts in the past and retained a bit of info but the advantage to buying this bundle is that it is a complete course (though there is a second more advanced bundle) where as podcasts end up teaching the same thing you have already learned in another podcast. This is one of the longer language learning audio books on audible and some of the concerns with getting so much bang for your buck are that the lessons may not be taught in a very learn able way ex: one podcast I listened to was just Spanish words and there meaning repeated over and over without any real lesson. For such a long audio book at such a good price it would be easy to just fill it with someone saying Spanish words to memorize but that is not the case here, it has lessons and they are well taught. The narration is also very important in something like this and you may worry that for something so long and at such a good price that they went cheap on the narration to make such a long bundle affordable to have narrated. Again, that's not the case, the narration is top notch! I have been listening to this while I work everyday as well as in my car rides and so far I am loving it and feel I am retaining a lot of what I learn. I highly recommend it.
Good but not great. I found this helpful but it was more difficult than I had expected. I found Learning Spanish with Paul Noble to be much more helpful.
I'm a beginner Spanish student learning on my own using apps, podcasts, books, and videos online. I picked up this audiobook to supplement my other lessons and I'm glad I did! It starts with the very basics of vocabulary and teaches it in a way guaranteed to make me remember. The narrator leaves space in order to guess the word and repeat it, making sure to imprint the word or phrase in my head.
If you're using an app like Duolingo to learn Spanish, or another program that focuses on repetition and memorization, this book is a great companion. Rather than memorizing phrases, it explains conjugation and sentence structure, which is really helpful. It also has a lot of sample conversations.. This isn't a quick phrasebook, it contains in depth lessons that will help you to become fluent. At 30 hours, it contains a lot of content for a single credit.
The narration was really well done, the narrators left enough time to listen and repeat phrases, and enunciated in a way I never had trouble understanding. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
Interesting! This method is exactly the same than in the Learn Beginner Italian Bundle, which is fine. The pace is good and the sentences well explained. I haven't finished the lessons yet, it's a long-term learning. The pdf file included is interesting for the spelling. The narration is good, but I had more difficulties to well understand the words than in the Italian Lessons, so I had to use the pdf. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
I took 3 years of Spanish in high school and did very well, but now that I'm 50 it's completely gone from my mind LOL. This is a great course, and great value. Very helpful and informative, I now feel much more confident speaking conversational Spanish.
I found it easy to listen to and understand, and really got a benefit from listening :) I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
