Hoooooo boy. It's not often I find a book that I hate so much I finish reading it. Not that it was very long or a very challenging read because the writing is horrific. You know why I finished it? Because of this:
"Heat uncoiled deep in my belly, bringing a pressure with it that had my legs throbbing. What the hell was going on with my lady parts?"
THAT IS A GOOD QUESTION TO ASK YOURSELF.
It's so bad, guys, so hysterically bad that I had to superimposed on my own reading experience by blocking out large awful pieces of dialogue. Get ready for ~*Spoilers*~
"Without really thinking it through, I extended my finger, and the gleam in her eyes reminded me of Gollum as he caressed the one ring and called it “my precious.” I was a diehard Lord of the Rings fan who was strongly considering getting a tattoo in Elvish."
Fuck me, that's a thought I had when I was 16 not when I was 21, which Sloane is supposed to be. There is no kickass heroine in this book because Sloane is an insipid little shit head who is unfortunately THE ONE. (One of the last of her species, special and rare etc.)
She's BEYOND immature, whining about waking up early and working out and training even though she CLEARLY NEEDS IT because she's being HUNTED BY MURDEROUS MAGICAL PEOPLE.
Come on man, just because everyone is fawning over you doesn't mean you get to ignore the people who are trying to save you.
The author writes Sloane in a way that is trying to be 'realistic' by describing Sloane as having jiggly bits on her thighs and ass and not being a morning person and having watched a thousand hours of iron chef which makes her so good at cooking???
And you know what? I am all those things in real life but if I was a sexy dragon shifting lady I would have manned the fuck up and learned real quick what my special dragon powers could do. I don't want to read about a lazy, whiny, shitty little maiden in distress. Sure she's got a whole tragic past, dead mom, no dad, homeless living in her care but usually people going through those issues have more guts and street smarts than this ninny.
I finished the book because I LOVE the premises of dragon shifters and I desperately wanted the story to go somewhere despite the awful characterisation. I give the Author some credit for trying her dang little hardest to build some sort of magical world but she explains nothing except lecturing me like 3 times in the book that there are 4 magical races that I honestly don't care about or really comprehend why they exist. Lalalalalalalalalala.
Theres a hot dragon guy and a gay guy and a tattooed guy and girl and a prissy girl and a motherly sort of figure that all instantly warm up to Sloane because she's the only dragon vagina that can save the race of dragon shifters. I feel bad for dragon guy because it's an end-of-the-world scenario and Sloane is his only choice. Cue magical mating scenario where they bond despite the Author clearly writing at some point that Sloane had read enough YA books about shifters mating magically but that's not how it works in this book but dragons are the exception???? Why even draw attention to this if you're going to contradict it?
Leia stone is practically writing about herself and her own beliefs because Sloane goes off on the odd occasional tangent about feminism and rape and lord of the rings tattoos which just makes the writing more stilted. Sure these are topics that I care about on a certain level but they are not written or handled well. There is a lot of information that I think the author would have loved to have told us but I got the feeling that she was hitting some sort of deadline, or didn't realise the time and effort it takes to write decent prose and desperately wanted to finish the book - And she did; And so did I surprisingly because it finishes by cutting itself off short. I was so surprised it finished that I almost read the Acknowledgements at the end, wondering where the story had gone. She wrote half a book guys...

Leia Stone...you just keep proving to me why you are my favourite. Such a easy read, full of action, adventure and romance. I feel in love with Sloane the moment she opened her mouth. The sassy attitude that made me laugh out loud. Logan...can I keep him please? Highly recommend. All sales are going towards building an orphanage in India. Just shows how beautiful Leia really is.

Oh, this was SO BAD. None of the world building makes sense, the writing could use a really determined editor and ugh, Sloane was a horrible character. Glad I'm done.

I loved the world of dragons and enjoyed following Sloane as she navigated her new reality as a dragon shifter. From the start, I was rooting for her and Logan, and I was thrilled with the eventual reveal.
I’m curious to see how Sloane’s mixed heritage—dragon and Druid—will shape her role in humanity’s future, balancing good and evil. The story kept me hooked, and I’m excited to dive into the next book to see what happens next.

Not the best but not the worst urban fantasy I’ve read. It’s got dragons and druids, orphans and the chosen one.
It’s well written but the main character Sloane isn’t the easiest to connect to.

This book is a good example of why you should push through some books until the end. Now that I'm done I'm interested in reading the next. I wanna know what happens.
For the first 1/3 of the book, I was planning to give it an extremely low rating. It comes across as very childish in the verbiage and the main characters inner thoughts. Stuff like, "having a half naked dragon shifter hold me while he made plans fir his pet kitten made my ovaries ache fir his babies..."
I mean REALLY?
At one point the main character is told not to lie because someone is a Truth Witch. Do you know what she asked???? She actually asks, "What does a Truth Witch do?"
OMG... I SNATCHED MY HEADPHONES OFF AT THAT LINE!
Seriously, if someone tells you not to lie because a Truth Witch is here, then any reasonable person would conclude that they can tell if you are speaking the truth. I mean it's in their freaking name.
So with a Main Character who wasnt so bright... I lost hope for awhile but I pushed on.
And then there was the constant repeating of the sames lines:
"If I die. You die."
"I have to remember that if he dies then I die"
"Don't run! If they kill you then they kill me"
I heard that shit so much I knew when it was coming. I did audio but I bet it's there once on every page for the last chapter.
The concept of the main story is a good one but wasn't delivered/developed well. I felt like the author should have actually given us less. That sounds funny but let me explain: Less is more some times. This first book would have done well with just the Druid vs Dragons theme. But the author attempts to explain the Fae and Fairie land that didnt directly affect the story. That portion should have been left out and details like this given in future books. For me all it did was make me think harder on all the other things that didn't make sense. Example. Why track someone with a spell without putting an actual tracker on their car since they keep driving it to get away from you?
There was also this strange section where Sloan gives the story of her friend being raped. It was sooooo not what was needed there. This book hadn't earned the right to be "deep" and this section felt forced. If you're gonna be a light hearted giggly book with teenage banter and child like responses to emergencies then stick with it. Rape is a dark topic and the character just didn't seem mature/deep enough to pull it off. It instantly went back to its light hearted- ness after the story. Leaving me like WTF?
The characters are what to be expected from a book with a Were-animal pack. There is an Alpha, a kick ass girls who are also sexy, a bitchy girl, a sensative wolf. I don't know any of their names and I literally just stopped listening. oh nevermind, I remember Sophie.
By the end of the book, I became so irritated with the main character that I held on just to see her get in trouble.
What really moved the book up from a 1 star to a three is the action and Seagrams. While I sipped my beverage I thought about the narrator. The book is read in a way that makes the character seem young and goofy. But if I thought about those same lines being read a different way, then I really believe the book would have a different feel.

Quick easy fast paced book that I needed after a huge book!
Leia will never disappoint me at this rate so please don’t come at me with your bad ratings🤣
Dragons.. oh dragons! Small world building to know about so it’s easy to follow. I love all of the characters (Sloaneeeee did get on my nerves a lil) but I hope I will grow to love her even more throughout the series & see more of a character development.
I have a feeling the next one will 100% have more action & plot.

There’s some pacing issues. The heroine is a whiny brat and the whole thing reeks of twilight crud. There’s too many characters to get to know and we never do. Even though a few of them might actually be interesting.

Honestly really liked this book, and was definitely a nice read! I certainly want to read book two and see where the series goes.
The only reason this wasn't a five-star was mostly because of the ending. While it was good, I felt there could have been a bit more build-up to the key points or things that affect the main character. So many lovely things happened in the story, I just wished they were a bit more described and less rushed through! I'd much rather have seen a bit more about the start and the grand canyon, than a whole scene going through cooking breakfast..but that's just me!
But it was really good and definitely not a bad book, would definitely recommend checking out if you're looking for a nice light-hearted m/f, instalove, paranormal and dragon themed read :)

A big no for me! I was not expecting the book to be so bad. The female MC was beyond annoying!! I rolled my eyes so many times, I’m surprised they haven’t fallen out yet. She was sooo stupidly immature, which makes this book a frustrating read. It could have been better. There wasn’t much of character build up either, so at times I was confused about who was who.
Will I read book 2? Maybe later this year, but certainly not now. I’m going try another of her series.

Very interesting premise and fast paced
MFC : just graduated from college and decided to hike the Grand Canyon to celebrate. Falls off a cliff and suddenly turns into a dragon. And now she’s being hunter by these crazy people with MAGIC. Which she didn’t know was real until all this started. She’s freaking out and trying to stay hidden from these magic assassin when this super hot guy and his animal friends save her. And she realizes his “animal friends” are actually shapeshifters…and the super hot guy…is the only other dragon shifter left in the world.
She’s expected to grasp everything so quickly since her life in on the line. And every time she shifts into a dragon, it’s like a homing beacon for the magic assassin who are actually druids who hunt dragons and steal their magic.
The world building is great and gripped til the end. Immediately started reading the second one haha

Oh that was gooooooddd!!! You jump right into the action and it just doesn't stop. I have an insta-crush on Logan right along with Sloane. I mean what's not to love...a green eyed, bearded, tatted dragon who loves kittens?!

This book I feel skipped the whole phase of how she became a dragon. But when you read it , it makes perfect sense because you're learning with her . Defo a good read and lots of action. Some this in 1 day/sitting.

I would like to be honest, I really didn't hate this book to give it 3 stars but the thing is I have this really weird peeve of mine. When I read something I want a beginning the evolution of the story and characters and then either a conclusion or a good ol' cliffhanger for the next instalment.
This book lacked the first part. It was like I was reading the second book of the story and not the first. At the first few pages I really thought I made a mistake and started reading the series from the wrong book.
But! Apparently it's just that we don't get to see how our heroes come to be where they are on the story we are reading except from just a brief summary, nice, short and neat.... Ahem...
Anyways, aside from that all the premise was really interesting and I liked the twists and little surprises. It was an enjoyable read.

the heroine is a little hard to love. okay a lot hard. but the concept and the fact that i'm a sucker for dragon shifters kept me interested. it felt all over the place and i kinda wanted sophie to actually punch sloanes face in. tbh even her name is the annoying type. i guess ive been spoiled with kick arse females in the past - some i believe by this author that i feel disappointed. it felt cut short as well... like rather than a full novel ending, more of a serial abrupt finish with a weird not really resolution...
like this chick isnt straight out of highschool but she acts like it and shes supposedly tough and scrappy and streetwise but acts spoilt whiny and sheltered.
why she was acting like a clueless thickhead especially towards her obvious attraction to dude when shes no blushing virgin and should definitely recognise why she was all hot and bothered is beyond me. i mean im not a fan of the dudes a player but girls just happened to save herself trope but it serves a purpose and gives a reason for that sort of naive tentative weird behaviour.
you know even though i do love the idea of this series it fell flat.
even just making her quickly change her mind at moon dust over the blood and try to leave only to be forced to complete it and breath it in would be about ten times better because i mean seriously YOU HAD ONE JOB dont run dont trust anyone else dont expose yourself and you literally fucked that all so far up its in orbit. ugh. i just its weird even with the common hate exercise love sleep relatableness i still felt she was a moron who i disliked. i mean have some consideration for someone beside yourself you selfish twit. shit thats what it comes down to even if she were a runner she found literally the only safe place for her and multiple times nearly died outside of said place she learnt what she was and how important she was to the literal whole of humanity and she decided her insecurities and bad habits were more important. i mean shit if i had a near death experience more than once and was being hunted by magical lunatics then the last thing id be doing is sleeping. id probably be begging anyone i could to teach and train me until i was passed out. and those weird shifters in the woods what was the point she couldve activated the purple magic shit through anything else. and they just let some clearly evil rapey dude walk away when he saw no less? i mean for real? if a druid looks at them wrong immediate death but shifters try to rape and probably kill their skyborn and nah let them live. WTF?!

even just making her quickly change her mind at moon dust over the blood and try to leave only to be forced to complete it and breath it in would be about ten times better because i mean seriously YOU HAD ONE JOB dont run dont trust anyone else dont expose yourself and you literally fucked that all so far up its in orbit. ugh. i just its weird even with the common hate exercise love sleep relatableness i still felt she was a moron who i disliked. i mean have some consideration for someone beside yourself you selfish twit. shit thats what it comes down to even if she were a runner she found literally the only safe place for her and multiple times nearly died outside of said place she learnt what she was and how important she was to the literal whole of humanity and she decided her insecurities and bad habits were more important. i mean shit if i had a near death experience more than once and was being hunted by magical lunatics then the last thing id be doing is sleeping. id probably be begging anyone i could to teach and train me until i was passed out. and those weird shifters in the woods what was the point she couldve activated the purple magic shit through anything else. and they just let some clearly evil rapey dude walk away when he saw no less? i mean for real? if a druid looks at them wrong immediate death but shifters try to rape and probably kill their skyborn and nah let them live. WTF?!

Where do I begin?
I was actually looking through the Divinicus Nex series because it has been 4 years since the last book came out, and I had forgotten the synopsis when I stumbled upon something I had never seen before. In the table of the genres it can be considered as, there was something called "Reverse Harem." I didn't know what that meant but it fascinated me. As soon as I clicked on it, I knew I loved it. Obviously, I'm not into reverse harem erotica. That is not up my alley. I don't really read erotica at all tbh. But I loved the idea of a girl and her pack of good guy friends, just like Dragon Marked or Divinicus Nex.
I found this book also labeled as Reverse Harem.
Let me be clear.
This was NOT reverse harem.
Which was a disappointment. But nevertheless it was written by Leia Stone, who I've come to more or less enjoy, so I went into this book eager to find a new story I would love.
It was written poorly, and the world wasn't fleshed out or original. Moreover, it ended without much actually happening in terms of plot.
Nonetheless, it was not horrible. It was just mediocre. I probably won't remember it in a few days. And I'll be honest, I read the book yesterday, and I've already forgotten the MC's name. Sloane, maybe? Ugh. Yeah, it was Sloane. That's one of the worst names I've ever read. (Sorry to anyone named Sloane.) And what was the guy's name? Lucas? Luke? Liam? It was something with an L, I promise. Logan? Oh, I think it was Logan.
Anyway, yeah, it wasn't all that bad, but it was definitely not memorable. I'll probably hold off from Leia Stone for a while.
And I'm out.

August 29, 2018I really enjoyed going through the journey of the supernatural world with Sloane and seeing her accept and come to the reality that she is a dragon shifter. I fell in love with the shifter pack and everyone's separate qualities. Mostly I fell in love with Nadine's tough girl/ rock chick vibe and I could agree with Sloane when she said that Logan is one of a kind. A sweet, caring, protective man, who wouldn't want that?
But I disagreed with the way she handles most of her problems. I understand she's a runner but sometimes common sense should prevail against tendencies that are self-destructive. For example, when she found out she was half druid she shouldn't have run away from her one source of protection. Especially when she's running away and entering a world she still doesn't understand and is new to. A lesson one can get from this is don't run away from problems it just causes more or sometimes its okay to open up and trust those around you.
Sloane is a strong women on her own right. She may despise exercise and would rather die than do any actual running, she has endured many things. The loss of her mother at a young age, petitioning to be able to not need a guardian, and being homeless. She has a strong spirit and is a women who can come out of the other side mentally stronger. All in all, this was an amazing book and I can't wait to keep delving into the dragon and druid world in the next book.

Great read
This book had a different take on an old theme. I really started to take to the characters and being a big fan of stories with dragons I'm moving straight on to book two to get to know them more. Features action, love and pulled on my heart strings what more could a fan of fantasy ask for? Well this tale gives you more druids, shifters and the skyborne just to name a few things.

Oh my what a great surprise...
This book was nice... Was my first with dragon shifters and I like it...
Sloan was a little stupid and childish but I can understand the scars of being so alone.
The side characters where great and all pack very likeable...
I'm trying not to spoil the story...
Will read the next book...
