I am so sorry to have to give this author and book a 1 star, but I just could not handle the inconsistencies. The story is good and I really hope the author goes back and fixes the problems.
The story starts with the hero playing his last football game of the season in AZ. Only to read that he has just finished yet another last game of the season in OH later. The childhood sweetheart of his 1st went to school with him since kindergarten , but they never talked or knew to each other till high school because of separate classes and friends. Then I learned that she had just moved there in high school. He 1st speaks to her by asking her to a dance were she said yes to go with him, but next I am reading how it took all of his courage to go up to her at the dace to talk to her for the very 1st time! There were many more inconsistencies then what I have said here. I stopped reading when I reached chapter 12 and came upon yet another one. I just couldn't go on. The mysteries of who is behind the murder and what his girlfriend is hiding just wasn't worth of to keep me reading any further. I truly hope this story goes backto editing and gets published again.
It has been a life-long dream of John’s to play for a professional ball club; he had been born to play ball and didn’t need any help from his supernatural abilities. John often wondered if he made the wrong decision to go into a career in professional sports, but he loved it. As a public figure, though, he has to be extra careful about his secret; if something like that got out about him, then he would be ruined. Keith is not only John’s Agent and a ruthless negotiator, but also his best friend and the most reliable man he knew; that is why he entrusted him with his devastating secret. A reporter, Michelle, has been trying to interview John, but he didn’t like or give interviews; they made him nervous. Michelle is an alluring woman and, though beautiful and intelligent, has a vindictive streak to her; while John always tries to avoid her, she is relentless. Michelle knows John is hiding something and is determined to find out what it is and when she does, she is going to make him sorry he ignored her. Heather and John reconnect; the last time they had seen each other was just before they left for college, but they had been childhood sweethearts. John has been in love with Heather all along; he has just refused to admit it. There is a wild animal on the loose; also, someone looking for unrequited love. John eventually finds out he has been betrayed and it in the worst possible way. This was quite an engaging story and had a few twists and turns to keep it interesting.
John is a wolf shifter and he and Heather were childhood sweethearts but he went off to pursue his career. Now, he is ready for more and realizing that Heather just might be his mate.
This is a well-written paranormal romance. It is a second chance at love romance. There are secrets and enemies that complicate their relationship.
A football player who happens to be a werewolf, his high school sweetheart, and assorted enemies keep this story Interesting and fast-paced. There were a few unresolved issues and a little too much gore for my taste.
