Sylvia can't seem to get past her trifling ex, Jamir, or her traumatic vehicle accident that left her psychologically paralyzed. Dontrell is still stuck on his ex, Samiah. Both seem to be nowhere near ready to try something new. But when Dontrell ends up being Sylvia's Uber driver, their lanes begin to shift in another direction....
This was a very entertaining, fun and quick read about how you can find love in the most unexpected places & I enjoyed seeing Sylvia and Dontrell’s love story unfold. For a minute there I thought things were heading in a different direction, but I am glad of how things turned out. I enjoyed the narration in the audiobook, Edwin Andrews did a great job. If I could describe one word about this romance story, it would simply be fate.
Tarnish Steward has drawn me in once again with this riveting short story. Entering this short story was like sitting in my living room having a drink with my best friend and strategizing my life journey about betrayal, tragedy, and Uncertainties.
How often do you hear yourself saying, "No, I haven't read it: I've been meaning to!" This was me, but when I finally picked up the book and began reading I was completely hooked. My favorite part is how 4 friends are so present and supportive in each other's life.
I recommend this short to anyone who enjoys a good read especially if your looking for something that hits home. Living again after being broken. I could, as so many of us can relate to the characters. When reading we want to connect and this short story did that..
This was a short and sweet story of finding love again when it's the scariest thing in the world. Though this story is a quick novella it packed a lot of character and story development. I found myself rooting for Sylvia and Dontrell.
After suffering in a car accident and in love, Sylvia is a bit gun shy when it comes to men and driving. Enter Dontrell - the Uber driver. This was such a cute and heartwarming story of overcoming obstacles and fear; a story of second chances; a story of finding love in the least expected ways and places.
Stewart is a master story teller and she had found her sweet spot weaving these quick reads with a big punch.
I recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance and novellas.
I loved everything about this book. No regrets at all. Loved how being patient and kind you can truly find true love and slowly start to rebuild your life and self esteem with no regrets. This is a book I will most definitely be recommending to all my book lovers. Phenomenal ❤️❤️❤️
Quick cute solid read... I would've liked more details so we could've seen the chemistry of the main characters. I like this author so I will read more of her books.
From the start of the book I was drawn in. Well written, easy to follow, and wanting more! I've already told some of my co-workers about Tanisha! Keep writing lady!!
Although the story was short, It was well written and kept me glued to my seat until the very end. I read it all in one sitting lol. I def look forward to reading more.
We usual don't read urban fiction but this was too cute to pass up. No violence, curse words edited out, ... romance... romance... ROMANCE!!! And ooooh such a plot! Ok, Sylvia is a heartbroken women with PTSD. She's not even looking for love, just to get better after the accident that caused her condition. Dontrell is, get this, a man who DOESN'T cheat, ISN'T selling drugs, and DOESN'T resort to violence to solve his problems. He's just an average guy with dreams and a broken heart of his own. He and Sylvia meet when he gives her a ride and the attraction is instant. The author unfolds their love story slowly enough for the reader to fall in love too but thankfully doesn't drag it out to the point of lost interest. To enjoy this story, don't think of it as a movie to be watched in one setting but instead the first season of a new show that you can't wait to binge. Each chapter is a new episode in the lives of two broken people just trying to get by and by the time you get to the middle, you'll be rooting for their love too. And the ending... I don't know which made us happier. The part when they both realized that they were made for each other or the ending that made us ugly grin. If you want an urban fiction where sex, violence, and drugs aren't the main focus but sweet, Black love is, this story is for you!!!
Yes people..I love Tanshia Stewart .. she's among few of the authors I would never look at the back of the book to be sure of what am buying... she's so good
I know I say this in all my reviews but I’m going to say it again I read a book that is less than 200 pages I will take a star away up front. In order for this book to get that star back and not lose another one is hard. It has to grab me at the start of the book, it can not feel rushed and it has to leave me wanting more…...With that said let me tell yall, author, Tanisha Stewart did just that. She took less than a hundred pages and made a love story. The story has substance the characters have depth. The editing was on point...yes this is a 5-star read. BUT!!!! I want more I’m a noisy reader. I want to know about there relationship before they meet each other. I want to know what happened in the year that we jumped over. I want to be the fly on the wall when Sylvia and Dontrell had sex the first time. Ok Author Tanisha Stewart you gave me a glass of wine with this and it was good but I’m a whole bottle type of girl(I need more)… I will be following this author. I enjoyed this short read. Sylvia has PTSD from both a bad relationship and an accident that happened the day she and her ex broke up. The accident left her unable to drive. So her motivation throughout the book was to start driving again. Her love interest, Dontrell, was--as the title implies--an uber driver who drove her home one day. The two meet accidentally again during an open mike. Dontrell was also wounded by a bad relationship, and he and his best friend were in the process of opening a barber shop.
The story was good, and I categorized this as a "clean" romance in that there were no intimate scenes. There was just a little bit of cursing. And due to the PTSD, I'd say this is within the "healing power of love" trope as well.
Oh one little tiny thing. Ivonne would *never* socialize with her client--even if a decade had passed. That would be unethical and crossing boundaries. Ivonne is a mental health professional who knows intimate details about Sylvia, and there is a power dynamic. The relationship could never be balanced, that is why it's frowned upon.
I've read all of Tanisha's short stories and this one is meh. The title doesn't quite match the story but it was an entertaining read. What happened between Jamir and his exotic girlfriend? Why did Jamir think he could show up unannounced to Sylvia's home with his bags? What exactly did Roland do? Who did Samiah cheat on Dontrell with and why? What did she say at the restaurant to cause friction with Sylvia? This story left too much unsaid to be rated higher in my opinion.
Two individuals who have loved and lost, and that experience has left them traumatized. 💔 Trying to push through life is manageable at times, but the fear of putting themselves out there again is terrifying. However, with therapy and the love of their friends they are able to overcome.
I enjoyed the meet/cute between Sylvia and Dontrell. However, how did we get to the love part? Just as they were making a connection, it jumped straight to them having their happily ever after. I would have liked to enjoy the buildup of their relationship on page and see them both overcome their fears.
I couldn't leave a review on Amazon because I didnt reach the necessary requirements but Tanisha once again you haven't disappointed. Although this was a short read it was a great read. Im happy how things worked out and I am glad you didnt leave us with a cliffhanger. I am especially happy for Sylvia and Dontrell, they deserved some happiness.

I wouldn't exactly say Sylvia was in love with her Uber driver - interested, yes. But Sylvia was dealing with some baggage that made it hard for her to proceed. Kudos that she was getting the therapy she needed. This book was just OK to me. I enjoyed the story but it's not one of this author's best work.
Very cute story about healing and learning to trust. I sympathized with the FMC having PTSD. I admired her doing the work to try and heal and her ability to allow help on her journey to heal. Her emotional journey was relatable as we all have experienced various things in life that stole our joy but to find it again when not searching is so gratifying.
Even though it was a short read I enjoyed the story. I like the bond and life they had but joined together to build a better life for each other. Men have feelings and get played on and that drew me into their story plus their best friends Carina and Roland were good and I like their vibe and bond as well.
Wow, I have to find me a Uber driver to fall in love with! LOL I really enjoyed the journey of this couple. Amazing how they overcame the obstacles to become a beautiful couple.
This was a great quick read. I loved the characters. This was a simple love story with an honorable impact. You won't find people anymore, especially men, willing and ready to help someone overcome something. That was the beauty in this read!
Love how the story develops and unravels. I like how real-life trauma is brought to the light to make people aware of serious illnesses that are experienced by some and down-played by others.
