It was supposed to be over… Returning from Haven 18 was supposed to be the end. But nothing is ever easy—and in a world full of zombies, finding the missing is next to impossible. There are breadcrumbs. Tiny clues. But what are a few tiny clues in a world of the dead? Nurrin is desperate to find her brother, but that will mean trusting Finn O’Malley. A man shrouded in secrets, who kills as easily as breathing. And the more she learns about him, the more questions she has. But she has learned one thing—the zombies are changing. Adapting. And this time, the Haven walls won’t keep them out.
Nazarea Andrews is an avid reader and tends to write the stories she wants to read. She loves chocolate and coffee almost as much as she loves books, but not quite as much as she loves her kids. She lives in south Georgia with her husband, daughters, and overgrown dog.
I have to admit that this book was so much better than the first. You can see how the author's ability to write is growing and maturing with each book.
I do have to admit though that I am still not a Finn fan...he annoys me with not answering questions and how he keeps giving Nurrin mixed signals. UGH so frustrating.
I'm hoping with the next book - he finally grows some kahunas and tells Ren the truth!!
I’m a closet zombie junkie. Dawn of the Dead, The Walking Dead, The Resident Evil movies - anything really. When I first heard about this series of Nazarea Andrew’s, I knew that I would be grabbing my protective gear (a snuggly blanket and a glass of wine) and losing myself in these books. The Horde Without End is the 2nd book in the series, you do need to read the first one to truly grasp the world that Nazarea has created. It’s been 20 years since the virus first went live, and although the humans have survived, they are slowly fighting a losing battle. Book 2 finds us shortly after the first ended, picking up in the thick of the battle as O’Malley and Nurrin race to track down her brother and boyfriend.
Finn O’Malley. Let me just say that if the zombie apocalypse ever comes, he is for damn sure the one I want to find myself with! And not just because he is fucking dead sexy and a hell of a fighter. He’s just got something about him. Something that sets him apart. Nurrin sees it, and even the Walkers in the Havens can sense it - he is untouchable, unbreakable. He exudes confidence and authority and if you cross him, you better hope you can run, and run fast. His protective and loyal nature is what keeps Nurrin at his side. She needs him and trusts him with her life - although she would rather bite off her own tongue than to let him know that.
Nurrin Sanders is an enigma. She is a First - born into this world, she has no knowledge of what life before the zombies was like. She’s feisty, tough and more than capable of putting up with O’Malley and his cocky attitude. The interactions between these two were spellbinding. At each other’s throats one second, teasing and laughing the next, fighting back to back against swarms of zombies - all the while trying to fool themselves that they aren’t attracted to each other on a more physical level. As they travel across the Wide Open, they only have each other to rely on, and sometimes that can be scarier than facing an angry mob of zombies. I loved her character - she is a badass, a girl with a burning fight inside her and an undeniable will to survive. She challenges O’Malley in more ways than one - “always with the fucking questions.” Does she always make the right decisions? Maybe not - but she is strong and brave enough to stand behind them, even if they are the wrong choices.
The Horde Without End had me perched on the end of my seat all the way through it. I was biting my nails in anticipation, kicking my feet in frustration and covering my face and reading with one eye all through the book. Nazarea Andrews creates an entirely new world, and that world is changing and adapting rapidly. When O’Malley and Nurrin discover shocking news - will anyone listen to their warnings? Or has the safety of the Havens lulled them into believing that nothing can reach the survivors behind those walls?
Secret and lies. Betrayal and loss. Undeniable chemistry - it all swirls around the looming threat of the growing horde of zombies. Right down to the very last few pages, I was so certain I knew how this would end. Out of nowhere, like a knife to the gut, Nazarea gives it a twist I never saw coming. One that left my jaw on the floor and my heart in the hands of the zombies. Book 3 is going to be dynamite, and I for one cannot wait.
What’s your protective gear? Make sure you’ve got it nearby for when you read this books - those zombies, they’re a bitch to repel without it.
*********************************************************************************** My Thoughts:
I've already told Mrs. Andrews this so I'll go ahead and tell you all as well: I hate zombies. I don't like zombie movies, I don't do zombie books. In fact, I kind of think the whole "zombie apocalypse" thing has gotten a little out of hand and needs to go away. It's everywhere and I have never really understood it. My motto when it comes to zombies has always been "why mess with the living dead when you can mess with the un-dead" because lets face it: vampires are way cooler than zombies. Well, I have to say that The World Without a Future and now The Horde Without End have definitely caused me to bite my tongue. I loved book one, but surely Nazarea wouldn't strike gold twice... WRONG.
Holy hell guys. I LOVED book two. Horde was everything I wanted and then some. I could not stop reading. This was one of those "you better hope you have the whole day free because once you start you wont stop" kind of reads. Wow. Just wow. I didn't even want to stop for bathroom breaks when I was flying through this! Nazarea had my fully and undivided attention the entire time. I said a few lines I'd like to repeat from my review of book one because I think that are equally as important here.
Our story is one that is thrilling and honestly, scary as hell. Unlike other post-apocalypse worlds, Andrews doesn't paint a pretty picture filled with a whole lot of hope for the future. It's nasty, it's deadly, and it's scary. Terrifying. I can see where Andrews has gotten some of her ideas based on her self-proclaimed love of zombies, but she definitely puts her own twist on it. Unlike other novels, this series was not about fighting off the zombies, it was about surviving a world with zombies. The inhabitants of the Havens (new cities) know their chances are slim and are just doing what they can to survive. Often their attempts are in vain as Havens have begun to fall. Now Nurrin and Finn are on a wild adventure to find Dustin and Collin after discovering they weren't at the cave where we left them in book one.
From what's left of Vegas to the sights and sounds of the "glamorous" Haven One, Nurrin and Finn meet a few more awesome characters on their journey including Kendall Buchman, President of whatever is left of the United States! Buchman is such an interesting character that keeps you guessing until the end. He was a great addition to this series. There are a few really emotional scenes that made me fall in love all over again with Nazarea's writing. It's so "real" that you feel like you could reach out and comfort the characters yourself. That's how close I got to them in just shy of 200 pages. Seriously. Great second outing Nazarea!
Spoiler free BUT I just have to say HOLY ZOMBIE HELL that ending! How do you expect us to wait for book 3 after throwing that cliffhanger at us Nazarea! I have to know what happens to the gang! Also, let me just say that while I still am not a huge Finn fan, he did redeem himself considerably by the time Horde ended. I guess I will just have to wait for book 3 to make my final thoughts know. Question for Nazarea: does anybody know how many books are going to be in this series? Because I could read at least ten more. Just saying! :)
As an NA book this worked PERFECT. The language is very gritty and can be vulgar at times, as with any NA novel. Just a warning that this is not a read for children or teens. The novel actually only has a couple of true "sex-scenes" which is good for people like me who get tired of reading them all the time, BUT the novel had lots of sexual tension and more than a few extremely steamy moments. Overall though, they were very well written and developed the characters immensely. This book is written in dual POV split into 4 parts. Hearing both characters take on the scenes was particularly interesting. I LOVE NA and I am so glad I read this, because it gives me new hope for the future of the genre. Thank you Nazarea Andrews for that!
Overall I give Horde two HUGE thumbs up, and 4.5 stars! Seriously an amazing read that will definitely be making it's mark on my Best Reads of 2014 list!
His name explains it all; Fierce, Intense, Nonstop, Necessary.
After reading the first book in this series I absolutely could not wait for the second book. It was just my cup of zombie tea! Finn, Ren, secrets, death, cults...a whole lot of awesome!
Ren (Nurrin) and Finn have some of the best chemistry I have ever read about. Their mutual disgust for each other turns into complete hotness & desire. To me when you have 2 characters who claim to hate each other that much it's only a matter of time before they get it on. Both of them are stubborn enough to pretend this lust they is simply human instinct and need...HA!
Besides the high amount of sexual tension, these two are on a mission to find Collin, Ren's brother, after they come back to their hideout to find him gone. They know he must be on the move....but the question is to where. Now it's about using Finn's connections, knowledge and gut to locate Ren's brother before something bad happens to him. Several times I thought that they were hot on Collin's trail only to be stopped in their tracks by the undead.
I truly, truly, loved how the last quarter of this book went. Traveling to a place Finn swore he would never go again just to keep his promise to Ren made me melt. (See, he really is a sweetheart) But this just opened up an entirely different can of worms. Worms that led to secrets of Finn's past, how his family was truly involved in the break-out, and why he feels the way he does about the government. Oh, and I have to touch on Kendall....he's the current President, but I can not wait until zombies rip his flesh off wait until he dies! This may seem harsh, but once you meet this charming creature you'll understand why I feel there's a special place in Hell for him.
So if you couldn't tell by now I am madly in love with this book, author, her characters & the gruesomely beautiful world she's allowed me sink into. I will be stalking her until #3 is ready! Nazaera has truly become that author who makes me loath advanced copies, simply for the fact that I selfishly have to wait that much longer for the next book in the series.
Well, book 2 in Nazarea Andrew’s World Without End did not disappoint! It was phenomenal! Again, I was gasping for more and needing it desperately! The characters did not let me down. As before, Nazarea provided a wonderful, on the edge type story!
Nurrin and Finn are still trying to find her brother, Collin. They have hit road blocks all along the way, as well as infects. Nurrin is desperately seeking her brother and fears all is lost and she’ll never find him. However, Finn is keeping her mind off things by annoying the hell out of her. With all this happening, Nurrin’s feelings for Finn are growing and the feelings that Finn have for her, well…he can’t help himself.
The whole story is utterly fabulous. I appreciated the fact that once again Nazarea spun the passion and romance even in unrelenting circumstances. The heat is rising between Nurrin and Finn. Although, fighting their way through the infects and the rising of the cunning Order is a constant struggle to survive. Somehow, love always finds a way to stick its claws in and never let go.
Will Nurrin finally understand Finn O’Malley? Will Finn finally decide to trust Nurrin with his secrets? READ THIS BOOK! I can’t wait to read the next book, no I need to read the next book to find out what will happen to Nurrin, Finn and the others in the World Without End series! Excellent story, Nazarea! Keep it up! ~TSRBR
In book two Finn and Nurrin are trying to track down her brother Collin and her boyfriend Dustin. One clue left behind in their cave sets them on a path to a new Haven and each place they come to sends them on another clue. They only have each other to trust and that's easier said than done considering 1. Finn has too many secrets to count and still won't answer questions; 2. Nurrin hates Finn; and 3. The chemistry between Nurrin and Finn is almost more than she can manage.
Book two is told in alternating POV's between Finn and Nurrin. We finally get to learn a few secrets that Finn has, which was satisfying. Though not as sexually charged as book one, they are still fighting their growing attraction towards one another. Finn has promised to keep Nurrin and her brother safe, at all costs. He doesn't do relationships and he knows Collin would never want him to be involved with his sister. The fact that Nurrin hates Finn helps, but as she grows to trust him, she also becomes somewhat confused about her attraction to him.
This book had quite a few grammatical errors. I don't remember book one being that way. That's always frustrating to see in a finished copy. Where book one was more fast paced, I found book two to be a bit slower, perhaps because they aren't so much running from zombies, though the zombies behavior patterns are changing, as they are going from Haven to Haven trying to find Collin and Dustin.
Bottom line - I WANT MORE FINN AND NURRIN!!! As in the words of a popular At&T commercial "We want more! We want more!"
I received a review copy of this book for my stop on the blog tour at Donnie Darko Girl.
The Horde Without End went by so quickly for me! After that cliffhanger ending in the first book, I was desperate to find out what was going to happen next and read this cover to cover in one sitting, staying up late into the night. I couldn't put it down, not even for sleep.
Ren and Finn set out to find Ren's brother, Collin, and their friend, Dustin. They follow a trail of breadcrumbs Collin has tried to leave for them, causing them to run into not only zombies, but also gangs of people roaming the outside. They have to deal with the people living in the Havens. Not only that, but the zombies are changing and adapting, finding new ways to survive.
My only issue with the story, which is completely based on my own personal tastes and might not necessarily affect other readers, is that Ren insists on asking Finn questions he refuses to answer. This guy is a closed book, and I thought he'd crack by now honestly. I think I'd probably give up. But Ren isn't someone who quits, and I do admire that about her. He does reveal more of himself in this book than in the first, and there's more to him than I imagined.
The chemistry between Ren and Finn is off the charts hot. The further they try to push each other away, the crazier the attraction makes them. I remember thinking in the beginning of the first book that Finn wasn't going to have a big role in this series, but I was wrong and am glad I was wrong! Ren and Finn work together like a team without having to communicate - they can read each other in dangerous situations, which works to their advantage more than once. Together, they seem to be unstoppable.
Between the search for Ren's brother and Dustin, the chemistry between Ren and Finn, and the curiously changing nature of the zombies, I was hooked. The Horde Without End is a terrific follow-up to its predecessor, and I'm excited for the next installment!
Hopefully you have read my review of book one in this series The World Without A Future, if not, why not?!!! (you can read it here to catch up).
So lets get up to speed, book one had zombies laying waste to everyone and everything in their path, escaping with their lives Nurrin and her brother Collin , her boyfriend Dustin and Finn's best friend finally manage to find a safe haven only to discover that Dustin has been infected, Nurrin and Finn set off to find an antidote, on their return back to the safe haven after they have scoured the lands for this medicine they discover both Dustin and Collin gone, cue Book 2 The Horde Without End!
So this book picks up straight away in the safe haven where we left off, Nurrin and Finn still fighting with their overwhelming chemistry need to decide what to do, Nurrin doesn't need to try to hard to come to a decision she is going after her brother with or without the enigma that is Finn.
Finn's name opens doors and comes with a lot of baggage that he does not want to discuss with Nurrin, she has to settle for him keeping her safe, make her hot and bothered and making sure she can get her brother back from wherever he has gone.
Their journey in this book takes them to new Haven's and we venture to Haven 1 where things see almost normal compared to the living hell that everyone outside its walls has to endure, Haven 1 is home of the President of what is left of the USA and for once Finn's name is not getting any brownie points with him, they know each other from years ago and they do not share happy memories.
This book is as awesome as the last one, I could read about zombies and the extremely hot Finn quite happily for ever, Nazarea again has hit the nail on the head with her descriptions of these hordes and when Finn tries to explain to the president that the infected are changing for the worse, you wonder what the hell is coming up in book 3 especially with the heart breaking ending this book has.
First-if you haven't read the first book, The World Without a Future-go pick it up now! You'll need to read it before starting Horde to understand everything that's going on. Second-I love this series! I never used to think I'd like to read zombie books, but after a friend wrote one that I really liked, a favorite author of mine wrote one that I also really liked, and then I come across this series...well, let's just say there will probably be many more zombies in my future reading :-)
And then there's Finn O'Malley. I love that we are learning more and more about his enigmatic character, finally getting to find out about who he was before Day One. You get a lot of insight into his character here in book two, some of it quite unexpected. And regardless of his rough and not necessarily appropriate ways, he's still the hot survivor alpha male that you want on your side (and other places *grin*).
I like that Nurrin is becoming an even stronger female character, and really enjoy the interactions between her and Finn. I'm just waiting to see how much longer it's going to take her to admit what all of us out here reading already know about her feelings regarding him.
The story will surely keep your interest like it did mine...and now after that oh-my-gosh ending, I'm totally craving the next book!
Definitely one for the 18+ crowd, I'm tossing 4.5 stars out there for The Horde Without End!
The Horde Without End picks up where the first book ended, with Finn and Ren’s ongoing journey to find Ren’s brother, Collin and her boyfriend, Dustin. The enigmatic Finn is Collin’s best friend and his two main priorities are keeping Collin and Ren alive. After surviving their arduous trek to obtain medication for Dustin, who was injured during their escape from a zombie invasion of their Safe Haven or home in the first book, they must now face the wide open, zombie-infested terrain to find and reunite with Collin and Dustin…unsure whether the two are still even alive. Hope can be a dangerous thing, but it’s all Ren has to keep moving forward with Finn, a man she both loathes and desires.
If you thought the passion brimming beneath the antagonism between Finn and Ren was intense in the first book, you will find the continued friction and sexual tension between them now has grown so taut that it’s only a matter of time before it all explodes. A central question is whether they trust each other enough to survive the aftermath. As I discovered in the first book, whereas Ren is fiery, Finn is just as icy, and their characters continue to clash in this second installment even when they try to resist their temptation for each other.
Similar to the first book, the pace of the story picks up quickly and is full of mystery and action and danger as complications continue rise and pose obstacles for the two as they get closer to finding Collin and Dustin and try to warn the other Havens about the increasing zombie hordes. It appears the virus that infected them is continuing to mutate and the zombies are adapting and becoming more successful in their attacks.
Both Ren and Finn alternately narrate the story in the first person POV using the present tense, which is commonly found in new adult fiction. Using the present tense gives a sense of immediacy and intensity to the situation and is an effective technique for the plot of this series. Also, readers begin to discover more details about Finn’s secretive past and why he is so reluctant for anyone to get close to him. I also now realize why it is so important for Finn to have Ren’s trust even though he continues to withhold so much information from her.
While I had a good idea of how the first book would conclude, I was shocked by the climactic cliff-hanger of this book. The ending left me clamoring for more, and I hope Andrews won’t keep her readers waiting too long. As a fan of post-apocalyptic zombie fiction, I really enjoyed reading these first two books, and they must be read in sequence to understand the storyline. I especially liked the unusual twist to the typical zombie plot that Andrews adds in the first book, which describes how and why a cult-like group called the Order organizes a “celebratory tribute” every year on the anniversary of the initial outbreak that occurred 20 years prior. This story thread continues in the series since the Order continues to pose a threat to Ren. So far, these first two books in the series are riveting and entertaining from start to finish.
Those who plan to start the series should be aware that the books contain graphic violence, sexually explicit scenes, and coarse language. With those caveats in mind, readers who like new adult fiction that juxtaposes the sexy and the dark may like this series as well.
Source: I received an ARC of this book from the author to provide an honest review.
Before I start my review this is the second instalment in The World Without End series so, if you have not read World Without Future go get yourself a copy and read that first....
If you are still reading I presume you have read it and, like me, you are a bit of a zombie fan. I will watch anything with these flesh eating, undead monsters from films to The Walking Dead TV show, so this series was a must read for me from the start. After finishing book one I have been so excited to get my hands on the second instalment so I delved straight in and read it almost in one sitting.
Let's get you up to speed......
By the end of book one we see Nurrin and Finn set off to find an antidote for Nurrin's boyfriend, Dustin, who has unfortunately been bitten but on their return they are shocked to find that both her brother Collin, and Dustin, are gone. Nurrin knows she has to stay with Finn if she wants to see Collin and Dustin again, Finn knows he has to find Collin and keep Nurrin safe and also try to keep his feeling and urges for her under wraps but this seems to becoming harder and harder for Finn.
Let me just tell you if there was ever a Zombie Apocalypse I will be jumping into to Finn O'Malley's wheels, and anything else I can manage. If there was a medal for Mean, Moody, Hot, Over Protective Alpha Male who will have you swooning over his kick ass moves when slaying zombies, Finn wins it hands down. His sex appeal just oozes off the page, his raw and rough moves on Nurrin will have you blushing while his protective, jealous side will have you swooning.
Nurrin really does come into her own, she knows just how to handle Finn when he blows hot and cold, she gives as good as she gets. She's Feisty, Sexy and Kick Ass which is one of the things that attracts Finn to Nurrin and her strength to find her brother makes them the ultimate zombie killing duo. Nurrin also finds out more about Finn's past, which helps her understand the way he is with her and everyone around him. (It really did make me love him that bit more, If that is even possible).
As Nurrin and Finn carry on with their journey to find Dustin and Collin we meet a few more interesting characters, some likable and some that will make you shudder more than the flesh eating zombies that lurk in the darkness, but a great addition to the series.
Nazarea Andrew's writing style grips you like pressing the play button on a remote control, the characters come to life and jump off the page like a 3D movie. You are wanting to desperately fast forward as you're desperate to find out how it all ends but, at the same time want to pause, rewind and slow motion because you are just enjoying it too freaking much. This story has you reeling over all the twists and turns, the lies, the past and, just when you think there's light at the end of the tunnel for Nurrin And Finn, I'm left with my hand over my mouth, eyes wide and having heart palpitations at the FLESH EATING CLIFFHANGER!!!! NOOOOOOOO!!! I need book 3 NOW!! I now think I know how it feels to be bitten and just left there waiting to change (I know, extreme, but that's how I feel).
I can't highly recommend this story enough to anyone who wants a nail biting zombie fest with an addictive story line and well developed characters.
I think this book is more correctly placed on the Adult category. The nature of the love scenes is for Adult books. Or so I think.
Ever since I watched Dawn of the Dead, I’ve been obsessed with everything zombie. My favorite zombie movie is I Am Legend, my fave game is Left4Dead2 and my fave TV show is The Walking Dead. So you might have a pretty clear idea on how I really like zombie entertainment. Zombies as we know, eats flesh and when you get bitten you’ll turn into one.
I really disliked the i-don’t-answer-questions-from-Nurrin attitude of Finn. I understand why he couldn’t – wouldn’t answer some of her questions but some of it is crucial for the knowledge of the readers as well. I guess in the long run, it’ll uncover itself. I don’t know Finn’s exact age but I’m guessing he’s around mid-30s? I think it was mentioned that he was a teen when the world ended and add in 20 years after – which was the year the book started- so I concluded that he is way too old for Nurrin. Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s like around 15 years of age difference. I think, he’s as old as her brother. Not to mention, the way he treats her is bordering cruel. Finn will definitely not make my Book Boyfriend List.
The beginning of the novel was a bit confusing even though I’ve read the 1st book recently. It should’ve included a brief introduction on what happened with the 1st book. Also, it made it difficult to get used to the term ‘Walkers’ because we all know that it’s another term for zombies. From the first to the second, it wasn’t explained what were the terms The Order, Firsts, First Day, Third Day etc means.
The political structure of the new world got me pretty intrigued. It was confusing at first but gradually became clear. I honestly think that even after the Infects overtook most of the world, the politicians will still rise and reestablish the hierarchy in the society (what’s left of it anyway). The mysteries kept on coming. Some questions have been answered but were replaced by a new set of queries that keeps the story interesting. Dustin is one of the characters I wish I could explore more. He was a loyal best friend to Nurrin. I really liked him as a lover to her too. The ending was something I didn’t anticipate. It was both saddening and exciting. I’m afraid to continue on what might happen to them but at the same time excited to see what will take place next.
THE HORDE WITHOUT END continues the story of Nurrin and Finn’s journey to find Collin and to discover a way to survive a world where the zombies are adapting. The ending? Unexpectedly shocking.
Terms (from what I understand) Havens – Walled fortresses of humans to keep infects out. Walkers – People who guards the Havens from infects and also screens newcomers. ERI-Milan – The cure for a disease created by Sylvia that mutated into a virus.
I was dying for this book! I read the first book in the series last month and was desperate for this book to release, especially with how the first book ended! I freaking loved this book! I enjoyed it just as much as the first book! I have to admit that there wasn't as much action in this book as what there was in the first book, but there was a lot of other things going on and the plot was developed on brilliantly from the first book! The action did sort of become more intense as the book progressed though, which I loved! The plot of this book was about the two main characters going on a mission to find one of the main characters brother! I just loved everything about the plot! I loved the suspense, the characters, the setting, everything! It was also the perfect pace to keep me interested and it always left me desperate to read on and find out how everything was going to progress! It was just amazing! I wanted more lol! The characters were again amazing! Nurrin 'Ren' was again the main female character and she was kick-ass in this book! I loved again how much she stood up to her love interest, Finn, and that she didn't let him tell her what to do! I also have to say that she was even more kick-ass than what she was in the first book! I just loved Ren! She sort of always had her head on straight, apart from a particular scene near the end of this book, and she was so down to earth! She also didn't let fear take over when it came to having to fight the zombies or people and she just fought to protect herself! I loved all these things about her! Finn was again the main male character and he was so freaking hot in this book! He was hot in the first book as well! We also find out more about Finn's background in this book, which was really interesting! I wasn't sure what secrets he was hiding and why he didn't want Ren to know anything about his past! His secret was quite unexpected though! I could understand why he kept it to himself! Finn was again just a machine with a gun and I loved how protective he was of Ren! His feelings developed even further for Ren in this book too, which I loved! Finn was seriously good at hiding his feelings in this book though, but I really hope that he and Ren admit their feelings to each other! I loved that this book was written from both Ren and Finn's point of views like the first book was! It really helped me connect more with both characters and I enjoyed getting to read the plot through both characters eyes! I'm so excited that there's going to be a third book in this series! I wasn't sure if there was going to be, but I can't wait to read it! The ending of this book was just in-SANE as well! I need the next book now! I'll be on pins and needles until it releases! The cover for this book is just perfect for it! It suits the first cover perfectly and I just freaking love both the covers! They represent the book so well! Big thank you to Nazarea for an ARC of The Horde Without End and to Inkslinger PR for having me on the Blog Tour!
The Horde Without End picked up right where The World With No Future Left off. Nurrin’s brother and boyfriend have gone missing and now Finn and Ren have to team up again to find them. Finn and Ren go all over the communities in search of Collin, but it seems they are three steps behind them. However, with every community they enter Finn begins facing his past and Ren is finding out more and more who the real Finn O’Malley really is.
I loved HWE! I read this book in one sitting and I just loved it.
Nurrin is becoming tougher due to her time with Finn who is so rude sometimes but I like him anyway. Nurrin I can tell has a long journey ahead of her and a lot of learning to do. She goes back and forth between trusting and not trusting Finn because she knows nothing about him. I love Nurrin for her strength and always because she’s so pure. She tries to be the best person she can be and tries to limit the amount of conflict with Finn despite their differences.
Finn has a dark past and more secrets than all the governments in the world. We finally figured out some of who he is and was as. There’s a lot we still don’t know, but I know we’ll find out more soon. Finn is definitely falling for Nurrin despite everything, but he won’t allow himself to like her or get close to her. He comes off as a real a-hole, which he kind of is, but I can tell he gets tired of fighting with the world all the time.
There is so much that happens throughout this story and I don’t want to give anything away so I won’t say too much. However I will say that I really enjoy this series even though I HATE zombie stories. Seriously out of all the zombie books I’ve read I’ve liked two and this series is one of them. I absolutely love Nazarea Andrews books with a passion because she has a beautiful twist on everything. I also love how this story is so completely original and has definite sexy scenes that don’t take away from the story.
Seriously people if you haven’t read this series yet you should, and this is coming from a person who loathes zombie books so that’s saying something. Go grab this series now!
I can honestly say that this series is the first zombie series that I have warmed to completely. I've never really been a fan of gnashing teeth and the putrid undead, but Andrews delivers an action-packed thrilling story filled with plenty of heart and emotion.
The end of book one was pure torture and I could not wait for this book's release. I loved that there was so much from Finn's perspective because he is such a complex character and I was trying to figure him out the whole way, just as Ren was, but he was so closed off about everything. The thing I did really love about him was his loyalty and determination. I also liked that he wasn't prepared to wrap Ren in cotton wool and coddle her. He pushed her, he needed her to be tough and he made sure she knew how to stand on her own two feet, even if at times it made him seem like an ass. I appreciated that he saw the strength in her.
The chemistry between these two characters was off the charts, and the few times it ignited were so freaking HOT my Kindle almost melted.
This book was filled with surprises, most surrounding Finn, but one of the biggest one's for me was the Kelsey/Ren association. So many questions fired off in my brain when that hit me and it only added fuel to the inferno of possibilities that lie within this series. Enter Kenny. I will admit he made my skin crawl from the minute he was introduced, and the fact that he was so attracted to Ren only made it worse. I knew there had to be more to it but Andrews does such a brilliant job of leading you down one path only to blindside you with the truth, and each step I took was exhilarating.
I was confused and then eventually blown away by the ending. I got whiplash from thinking all was fine one second to realizing that something, or make that EVERYTHING was off and nothing was right. There was a glimmer of hope and then THE END!! Another exciting, nail-biting cliffhanger that will keep me hanging on for dear life until the next book in this series.
CHILLS!!!! I have chills!!! It's not very many books at all that do that to me, but this book did exactly that. Oh my word! This book!!! This whole series in fact! I loved book #1. Loved, loved, loved it, which I wasn't expecting to because I hate zombies with a passion. They terrify me! They're the one thing I can never watch in films or TV, and I never even entertained the thought of reading about them until this series came along.
So now we have book #2 . . .
We get small snippets of information about Finn's past, that help to uncover bits of the story. The mystery surrounding Finn and the unpredictability of the disease helped to keep the story going at a steady pace whilst the reader is held captivated until the very last page. My attention never once faulted, and I loved finding out new pieces of information. I'm usually pretty great at working out plot twists early on, but I was constantly surprised by the things that happened in this book.
I don't know why, but it seem to be continuously surprised by just how much I truly love this series. Nazarea Andrews not only tells a great story, but she's also an incredible writer. Her words flow effortlessly, and she really is an author that not enough people know about. The fact that she can write and have me hooked to zombie books just shows how amazing she is!
I could quite happily read about this series for a very long time to come, and after finishing book #2 (oh my word, that ending!!!!!) I am so happy that there will be a third book. But Nazarea? I need it now!!!!!! I'm still a zombie hater, but I'm a big lover of this series, and I can't wait to see the story continue.
I really liked this book. There were a few grammatical errors here and there, but nothing that was too distracting. I think the author did a really good job illustrating the chemistry between Finn and Nerrin. Finn, for the most part was a decent male lead, although I did get kind of tired of his constant refusal to answer questions. I could have done with a little less mockery on his part, but that might be just because I have had it up to here with mocking males in books lately. There was probably actually less of it in this book than most. I did get a little annoyed with him for constantly telling himself that he couldn't be with Nerrin (for reasons unknown as of yet) but still kissing her and other things, sending completely mixed signals. I appreciated the fact that Nerrin did not spend the entire time making stupid decisions and whining. Except for one pretty major one at the end, but that was nothing that was over the top or out of the ordinary for someone who is 20 years old. I like the fact that the cult-like Order was more of a quiet menace in the background rather than taking up the majority of the story itself, however it does seem likely that they will have a larger presence in the next book.
I liked that Finn's main focus is on survival, and finding a way to live in the world they have, rather than holding out hope for a cure that doesnt seem likely.
This book is pretty short, and since it is also very fast-paced, I would have liked it to be a little bit longer. There is also a cliffhanger at the end but since the next book is already out its not such a big deal.
Was the second book as great as the first? ABSOLUTELY! Again, I gobbled this book up and found myself so addicted to what was happening and the tension between Ren and Finn. Nazarea Andrews has rocked this series so far and the sheer enjoyment that I have received out of is unbelievable.
We are still following Ren, who is stuck with Finn, to find her brother Collin. During this search, you find out more about Finn than you did in the first book; his character is starting to make more sense. I am finding myself really starting to root more for Finn because I am able to understand him better. Ren is just the same Ren but is becoming stronger, a quality that Finn likes. Both are on a mission and no one will stand in their way.
The world that Andrews paints is mind-boggling. I think most authors would add some kind of hope or happiness into the story to make it seem a little lighter of an apocalyptic world but Andrews writes it the nitty-gritty way. No hope – just reality and I love every bit of it.
…the ending…the ending that we are left with is going to be the death of me. How am I going to survive knowing what is happening to my favorite characters? The third book better come out quick because this girl needs to know!

I hope this is not the end, as it said at the end of this book, since our heroine, Nurrin, is left in a very precarious situation. And I hope the next one comes out soon so I don't have to reread these. The zombies are changing, adapting, congregating in much larger groups, as suggested by the title of this book. This is one of the fairly new categories, "New Adult" because it is for college age instead of 15 year olds. This means there is cursing and sex, both of which I like. So I am hoping to see more of this story and this author.
The POV changes by chapter for Nurrin and Finn and I like hearing Finn's POV and his feelings for Nurrin which are very strong, while hers are very confused. She craves him physically but says she hates him, although I am doubting that as the story goes on. He has sworn to protect her and her brother whom they are searching for this whole book. He wants her to trust him but gives very little of himself, a mystery to her and to us.
Good story, good author, want to see more of this story and writings by this author.

In the breathtaking sequel of "The World without End" Finn and Nurrin must travel into more Havens in order to find Collin. But the zombies are evolving and the Havens will not be prepared for the new attacks. Whatsmore, Nurrin's feelings for Finn will be tested when his past will slowly be revealed.
With more mystery than action in this one, I don't believe that the book suffered from second-book-syndrome. Nazarea did a fine job keeping me on edge with the double POV of Finn and Nurrin along with introducing new characters and even more insiders of the minds of the people who live in this hellish future.
I couldn't truly rlate to Finn. He is such a closed character in everything to the point of being annoying. True, he is a badass with weapons and such but his blank mask he always projects caused the second cliffhanger I got to see in a series. Seriously, I don't know if I will survive to write the review on the third book!
Overall, with more zombies in the horizon, let's hope to see more of ction, love and hope!
A solid 4.5 but since the series is so mesmerizing, I rounded up. *shrugs*
I stayed up all night reading both books and all I have to say is friggen REALLY?! I have to wait until book 3 for Ren and Finn to get their shit together? Gah! That's too far away!.... I could cry.
Damn you Nazarea Andrews for writing such a captivating series with such stubborn characters; you made me into an addict.
I won this book on the goodreads giveaway and I really liked it. It was not your typical zombie story. It has somewhat of a love story in it and a lot to think about what if's. I really wnjoyed reading this book. Now, I have to get the first book and the next book to round out the story. It was good even though I had not read the first book.
This is the second book in The World Without End Series. Book one (The World Without a Future) was featured for just 99 pennies and I decided to pick it up (by the way it’s still just only $0.99 so pick it up) and when I saw book two come across my email as a tour I had to join up!
Nurrin’s brother, Collin, and her boyfriend, Dustin, have gone missing. They’ve left the Haven without a word to anyone. She’s determined to find them and the only person who can help her do that is the one person she despises, Finn O’Malley.
I liked Nurrin (Ren) in book one; she’s a hellcat who hates taking orders from anyone. Her brother is the only family she has left and she’d do anything for him. Her relationship with Dustin was comfortable; they’d grown up together and finally hooked up. But as much as I liked her in book one, I loved her in book two! She is kick-ass! From fighting zombies to fighting bands of renegades, she never backs down. She even does plenty of fighting with Finn. She most certainly has her own agenda in all of this and it doesn’t include playing games. She wants to find Collin and Dustin; she needs answers.
And Finn…. oh Finn. He’s definitely a closed book type of guy. And, if by some chance, that book is left open and he catches you sneaking a peek, he has no qualms about slamming it shut…not caring if your nose gets smashed. He name alone will either open doors or get them slammed shut in their faces, as he and Nurrin travel to different Havens looking for Collin and Dustin. Nurrin has no idea who Finn is exactly or why his name can evoke such reverie or hatred in people.
There isn’t as much action in this book, but I think it’s a great segue from all the action in book one to what promises to be a thrilling conclusion in book three. Nurrin learns a thing or two about Finn (and not everything directly from him and that really sets him off) and even though she isn’t sure how to process all that information, she realizes that he is the only person that she can really trust in all of this.
We are introduced to Kendall Stiles, whose father was President of the United States when the apocalypse happened, and now he has stepped up to the role (he took his mother’s maiden name instead of his given surname of Buchman, even though there are a few times when he is referred to as Buchman). At first I liked his character and thought that everything that Finn said about him was out of jealousy…but wow… just wow. Finn was dead on about it all. And with Kendall Stiles worming his way into Nurrin’s life we are left with a cliffhanger!
There are some hot and steamy scenes, but no actual sex….so have no fear….this isn’t a zombie book that borders on the erotic. Just some hot and heavy lust going on. Hey, even in the apocalypse people have needs!
Overall I really liked this book and can’t wait to read the third book and see how our characters get themselves out of the situation they find themselves in. Horde Teaser avaliable2
First things first...you definitely have to read the first book, The World Without a Future, before reading this one. Reading the first book gives a better understanding of what follows in this second book in the series. The Horde Without End begins shortly after the first book ends. Being a fan of all things zombies, this was definitely a thrilling and exciting read! I was at the "edge of my seat" with the gnawing feeling of danger lurking out there....be it the zombies or the living!
Nazarea Andrews has written an action-filled, thrilling, and suspenseful tale of survival in a world where a virus decimated the world's population and turned them into zombies. She has created a world where zombies is a part of every day life and the living has to live the constant threat of infection. In comes our characters, Finn and Nurrin on a mission to find Nurrin's brother. They encounter many dangers be it in the Wide Open and/or in the Havens, they continuously dodge the dangers they face together. Finn and Nurrin challenges each other. The setting is sufficiently descriptive. The characters are well developed with strong personalities....and the chemistry between Finn and Nurrin! Can't forget Nazarea's descriptions of the zombies and the horde(s)...graphic and ominous! And those sounds...creepy! Gave me goosebumps!
The Horde Without End is a definite page turner if you enjoy zombie apocalypse type stories! If you enjoy The Walking Dead, World War Z, Dawn of the Dead...even the Resident Evil movies, then this series is absolutely a must-read. Thankfully, the story didn't revolve around a "romance"; although the attraction between Finn and Nurrin is apparent. Definitely a book to finish from beginning to end...with it's shocking ending that begs for book 3!
