Candid Classroom is a behind-the-scenes look at the world beyond the classroom door. It is an honest, often humorous peek at those things not typically covered during parent-teacher conferences. It's what teachers desperately want to sit down and discuss with parents over coffee; the things we tell our own sisters and friends as they send their little ones off to kindergarten. You'll find insight into everything from the true nature of bullying, to the value of encouraging independence, and it will become your trusted companion as you watch your children learn and grow throughout their education. Candid Classroom is a real conversation about the things teachers wish parents knew, and answers the questions so many parents have.
- Fan of Erica's podcast so was keen to read this book - Eek, so many grammatical errors that it made me question whether the book had a proper editing process... - It was not bad but somehow didn't feel that cohesive to me - There are some good tips e.g. what to do to prepare kids for school, as well as some cute anecdotes - Somehow, lacking though
Very happy to have read this before sending my child off to Kindergarten. Erica employs honesty above all else - about her experiences, her own short-comings, her advice, and her hopes and ideas for change. With the tips in this book, I am better equipped to help foster a healthy teacher-parent and parent-child schooling experience.
This was extremely helpful to me as the first-time parent of a Kindergarten student. I think I'll probably revisit this one every fall as long as my kids are in public school.
