Forever Bluegrass #21

Forever Covert: Forever Bluegrass, Book 21

Rate this book
Kale Mueez just wants to work on his computer programs and, okay, some not-so-legal hacking. Even though he sold one of his computer software companies for more money than he’d ever need, he wasn’t one to sit back and do nothing. That is especially true since his father is a super soldier known around the world. After spending time in the army, Kale returns home to his small town of Keeneston, working to hunt down The Panther, the one elusive criminal that’s ever escaped Kale. Until a wrong number changed everything.

Delaney Warner worked in military intelligence, so when she accidentally texted the wrong number about standing her up on a date, she felt silly. She blamed stress at work for her lack of dating life and the wrong number text. Too bad she can’t get the short conversation with the man at the end of her wrong number out of her mind.

When The Panther presents a threat, a wrong number turns into more than either Kale or Delaney ever imagined.

No spoilers

Again, how do you leave a review without giving away spoilers when so much happens! If you haven’t read any of this series DO NOT START HERE. You have to start from the beginning or you can not appreciate this book the way you would otherwise. Kale and Delaney’s story is definitely now in my top 3 favorites from this series ( there are around 30!) and what is awesome is all 3 are the Mueez family. Ahmed, Abby and Kale, I just love theirs. I would love to find towns like the ones Kathleen Brooks writes about. Love the stories and I can not wait until the next one!

A wrong number had never been so right!

I never expected Kale to find a woman who was equal parts computer nerd and warrior but Delaney is exactly that and she is perfect for him! One of the best meet-cutes of the series, we knew Kale would have to be different and Delaney matches him step for step, she isn't even slowed down by the unique 'welcome' she receives in Keeneston. She slots into the town and Mueez family as if she was a missing piece....Kale's missing piece!

Forever Thrown is Book #21 in the Forever Bluegrass series (Bluegrass Book #35) by Kathleen Brooks. ‘Bluegrass’ combines romance and suspense, with a touch of Southern charm.
A few years ago a friend recommended this author, and her many series, to me - as she had devoured every book and absolutely loved them, singing the author’s praises from high from the hilltops. So, being an avid reader who loves discovering new authors and enticing reads, I took my friends recommendations seriously, and started amassing Ms. Brooks many books, with the plan to have a huge binge session/buddy read with my friend. But with so many books on my TBR, and new, exciting ones releasing every week, I always seemed to get pulled into other books- as these just kept piling up.
Since part of my yearly reading challenges for the past few years has been to dust off my TBR pile/s and read the books that have been languishing there the longest, I decided to finally dive in and get the series read. While I did ‘enjoy’ the books for the most part- I didn’t fall madly in love with them as my friend promised that I would. But that’s ok, I am really happy that she loves them as much as she does. But for me, they were just an ‘okay’ read.
With plenty of small-town drama, intrigue, angst, chemistry, humour, community, family, friendship, charm, mystery, tension, danger, emotion, and suspense- the stories are about finding love unexpectedly and love conquering all.
The books can all be read as standalones if you wanted, without feeling ‘lost’ or like you are missing big pieces of the picture. This is because each instalment introduces its own ‘couple’- providing plenty of romance, a dash of suspense, and some sweet development to make your heart flutter.
But I have to be honest, I found there were a few issues which detracted from my overall enjoyment of the stories/series. Such as the ‘wordiness’ which really slowed the flow of the storyline at times, as there was such an overwhelming amount of detail which didn’t really ‘add’ to or propel the story in any way, except to perhaps distract from the plot. I love details, normally- but not when there are pages of descriptions, as things tend to ‘bog’ down and the flow/pace/plot gets lost amongst the detritus- and also leads to some ‘wandering’ storylines. There were also many loose ends, for me- threads that were left hanging, or not fully woven into the storyline- which I found a bit frustrating.
I really wanted to love this series as much as my friend did…. but instead, I was left a little disappointed.
Happy reading! 📚💙

Loved it!

Kathleen has done it again. What an awesome ride. I loved it.

Kale found the perfect partner in Delaney..she is funny, witty, a computer nerd, race car enthusiast, and former soldier. He couldn't ask for anyone more perfect. When The Panther is hot on her trail, its best to bring her back to Keen eat on so the town could protect her and Kale. What ensues is mayhem, parties, acid guns, and all out war to bring the Panther down once and for all.

Great story as always. Delaney was funny and witty and fit perfectly in with Bridget, Ahmed, and Sophie. Kale was such a nerd through the first half of the second generation books, so to see him come into his own was good to see. There was so much to keep track of in the story regarding the Panther, the various countries, and the long list of cousins and friends, but the story moved along and kept you engaged.

My only wish was to have some connection with Delaney and her parents. I mean she had a whole relationship and there was not a call, not a "ask your father for your hand" moment..nothing. Otherwise, a wonderful story as akways.

Another typical addition to this series, predictable but I enjoyed it. Can be read without all the rest of the series but definitely helps if you are somewhat familiar with the town and characters. Narrator is Eric Dove always fantastic.

Kale Mueez (son of Ahmed from previous books) is computer geek, soldier and good guy. He gets a wrong number on his phone and starts texting a funny girl who thinks he ghosted her. When they realize it is wrong number they continue to text once in awhile as they like kind of flirting with each other.

Kale responds to a terror attack in his country and meets Delaney who works for DIA, she is former soldier and also expert in AI and computers. He realizes she is the text girl! They hit it off hard right from the start and it turns out they are both after the Panther, a criminal that is responsible for both the attack in Kale's country and the kidnapping and torture of Delaney and in the past.

The Panther then comes after Kale and Delaney to finish them off and will take down the whole town if needed. I found the end kind of over the top with the secret weapons and attack but overall liked the characters so will overlook it.

Story/Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: Small town romance
Angst:
Spice: 🔥

Synopsis: This book is part of a multi-book series by this author. You should read all previous books before reading this one. Kale is a computer genius, a hacker, a Colonel in Rahmi military. Delaney a DIA Agent for the USA, a wiz on the computers too. Delaney and Kale start up a texting friendship after being connected due to a wrong number text. The story eventually goes to the small town of Keeneston where the community band together to protect their own.

Thoughts: I wish I grew up in the small town of Keeneston. 🥰 The characters in this book are what keep me coming back for more!

Kale and Delaney are each texting with someone they have never met. They feel a connection, but are unsure if it is real. When they meet in person, it is not under the best of circumstances. The Panther is back and now Delaney is also in his sights. Kale realizes that Delaney might be exactly the right partner for him. She is a nerd and also in the military so they relate on both levels. She doesn't know who he really is at first and Kale likes that. I will say their story was entertaining and had all the usual characters in it. It was a bit OTT with what the whole town is supposedly able to do. Some things that I had questions about were never really answered. I will say that there were a few editing errors and that never happens in a Kathleen Brooks book.

I had been putting off listening to this story for awhile. Half afraid it wasn't going to be able to live up to my very high expectations. Kade has a lot to live up to after all. I needn't have worried. This is one of my favorite of this series & that it saying something.

I loved how some of the incidental details of the past several stories come together in this story and even some past side characters. It was beautifully done. After "Forever Thrown" had so many inconsistencies, it is so good to see the story firmly back on track.

I highly recommend this series. For the best experience of this story, Read from the beginning. I know it is a lot but so worth it. This story had me crying, then later laughing so hard my stomach hurt.

It's always fun to return to Keeneston Ky and the whole town gets into making sure the town is not being taken over by some evil force. In this case The Panther and he is out to get Kale Mueez and the women he met online by mistake with a text that was sent to the wrong number, Destiny Warmer. When the two meet after sharing some sexy texts it is attraction at first site and when they arrive in Keeneston, the matchmakers are on it and the town betting app is exploding up with dates for a wedding. But first they have to get rid of that evil force that want to enhilate the whole town. That is not going to happen when they all band together as the town does.
I can't enough of Kathleen Brooks' Bluegrass books and I am always sad when it comes to an end, but I know there are more wonderful books to come so I can visit with all the wonderful inhabitants of Keeneston Ky. This book like all the others is a thrill a minute and lots of LOL moments and some steamy moments too. Always a 5 star read for me!

Kale a Genius, a hacker, the son of infamous Ahmed, a colonel in Rahmi military. Delaney a DIA Agent for the USA, a genius with computers as well. As time would have it she makes a call to wrong person, Kale and they start to exchange text, but with another twist “The Panther” decides to show himself again and of course they both had been tracking him. The Panther would sale anything on the dark web, country secrets included. Without giving away the entire story for the next reader the town of Keeneston comes together again with a lot of help from a lot of old previous friends. If you are a fan of KB you will know everyone. One of my favorites.

Another 5 star read

This book was amazing, it Incorporated so many characters from all the books and series that Kathleen Brooks has done. I laughed, I thought it was amazing but then after I got done with it I had a little tear because it almost seems like it's coming to an end. This author has made this family and that's what it feels like is an additional family real. Reading the series by her it's like stepping into a whole other reality. Cannot wait to see what happens next.

Book 21, you would think you have some idea as to how this book would play out. But you don't. Kathleen has a great knack for new situations you hadn't thought of and for writing out scenes that have you cringing and laughing at the same time. Kale and Laney are a great couple and I love how they fight the Panther together. The inventions in this book are awesome. The family feel of the small town is, as always, wonderful.

loved it

Usually if you receive a wrong number texts you dismiss it . But when Kale receives ones he replies out of curiosity. Delaney meant to blast text her date her left her for a hook up and ended up,texting the wrong number. Before long the two,of them are texting each other daily without even knowing the others name. This was a great story, funny and romantic but also exciting.

Kathleen Brooks does it again!

Once again, Kathleen Brooks has given us a book full of love, action, intrigue, tears, and sassiness! The only reason I didn't read it in one sitting was due to exhaustion causing me to fall asleep midsentence. I will NOT be giving ANY spoilers, but just be prepared for more of her world than you could possibly anticipate. Thank you, Kathleen Brooks for wrapping us up in your amazing world creation for another fantastic ride!!

For it being a Kale book, it’s Grandma Marcy who seems to be the techy one. It’s the same thing that ruined Greer/Sebastian book, Marcy knowing who Panther is. And in the end, that wasn’t what caught him, KB diminished Kale for no good reason. Same with using Marcy’s phone, everyone in town has those same contacts. Poor use of plot device. This is what makes me hesitant to read any more Keeneston books.

Kathleen has done it again! There were so many omg moments and laughs in the entire book. I never saw the end coming, which I can usually guess who the bad guy is early on so this book kept me on my toes. The ending was so good! Delaney and Kale are so perfect together and I absolutely love their storyline. Ahmed absolutely had me cracking up. What an amazing book!! I am ready to read it again!

Keensetown is the Place to Be

I love this town and wish I could insert myself into each and every story. I truly felt Delaney’s and Kale’s connection. The antics of the family members are always LOL. Add in an epic battle at the end and you have the perfect small town blowout read! I love all of the characters from every series showing up and supporting this town.

I feel like we waited forever for Kale's book!!

If you haven't read any books in the Bluegrass/Forever/Web of Lies series, please don't read this one until you have the rest of the story. I have read all of the books in order, and I still had some issues connecting all of the characters. Lots of action, suspense and HOT men!! And of course a cute dog or two.

Loved it! Kale was a wild card in the mix. We always read about him here and there but we never really got to know him. Now we get to see the whole person. I loved his character and the development in this book. Delaney was a perfect counterpart for Kale. And the twist about who the Panther was ! Unbelievable. I can't wait for the nextvbok.

always an amazing story

This story started out very slow, but once you get into it off it takes. Several instances that have missing words in sentences! Which really shocked me from this author. Big battle a little far fetched and the time line off for those who traveled from around the world but i loved the book. Can’t wait for #22.

I’ve been dying to find out what kind of woman that Kale would end up with! Delaney was PERFECT! Her character reminds me a lot of Bridget and Annie. She’s no shrinking violet and her intelligence shined just like Kale’s.

Kale has had a lot of character growth and I’m so happy he got his HEA!

The little Easter eggs dropped throughout have me dying for the next 2 books!

Wow this was good. I loved all the books up to this point as they are suspenseful and funny at the same time. There is no way this story could be topped. I swear every other scenario has been covered in this series. You know it is a HEA but still you cheer for the good people of this town.

Another great book!

As usual, I could not bit the book down til I finished it.
I always feel like I have come home to family that always excepts me as I am.
What I do not like is the time waiting for the next book to be released.
