Loving this series

After book 1 i was very curious to see if the anticipation and hints of story development would work out and i can say yes they do.
New characters and situations are very well done and im glad they have used the clever rather than overpowered route to help get Clay levelled up.
Also happy with the addition of more characters to his team and how it all fits in.

The first book in the dungeon bringer veered into a reverse harem style of writing which I had never read before and found a bit shocking, however I really enjoyed this, the 2nd book in this series and loved seeing the cat woman grow into their strengths. I also love the fact that Clay looks out for all of them and makes sure none of his own people get killed. This time round Clay and his guardians face off a very angry dungeon lord who fights by making use of the undead and the evil Drows. The fight turns into a massive battle where Clay has to make use of his wits to turn his dungeon into a killing pit with very little Ka motes available to him. The team are pressed to their extreme with seconds to spare before losing all that they had gained so far! In this book we encounter zombies, ghouls, blood gnomes, mind spiders and many other unmentionable monsters. We also discover a planar gate, a solamantic web and the godmarrow which everyone seems to crave! Clay's guardians, Zillah the scorpion queen, Nephket the high priestess and leader of the cat woman and Kezakazek the Drow witch are all really protective and possessive of Clay and work very well as a team. Clay was thrown into this world by the cartel from back home when he was just a hacker however he now feels responsible for his people but will the cartel back home let him be or will they go on expecting things from him? We will need to wait for book 3 to find out and the excitement is growing.

So when I finished this novel, I had to stop and sit on it for awhile.
I enjoyed this book, much like I did the first one in the series. While there are aspects that I am not fond of, Harrow is a good writer and it comes through in their storytelling. While his protagonist comes across as a Chad at points, the overall story doesn't fall into the category of being a sex romp with monster girls, or a boring LitRPG. Instead, Harrow manages to tell an engaging story that pulls you in and has you reading to the very end, WANTING to know what happens to the protagonist and the women by his side.
Sure, there is sex, sure there is violence, and that's part of the appeal to the story. I will say though, in this one, I did find that the descriptions of some of the characters were a bit lacking. While the girls up to this point got a good description, the new one gets very little. Green hair, scales, and that is about it. It wasn't until FAR later that she is described as serpentine. It also doesn't help that the cover artist doesn't do her credit, so it creates a lot of disconnect when reading the story. (I thought she was a harpy because she's referred to as a harpy at one point... when they meant it in the way 'bitch' is used normally in stories)
Still, Harrow does a good job upping the risks in the story and gives the reader something to cheer for when it comes to Clay and his people. You want them to succeed, and there is some real danger to the protagonist in the things they do. He uses his wits when he can't use power, and he does some pretty sneaky stuff.
One thing I will say is that this book made me wish there was more than just three available. Still, this series has been a pleasant surprise and I look forward to reading the third book. Well worth picking up if you want a good, quick, and fun read.

So, yeah. I listened to the second part of Nick Harrow's Dungeon Bringer.

Now, with that intro, no, I didn't dislike the second part. It was… good. It was simply more of what we got in volume one; monster girls, action and sex. Standard LitRPG wish fulfillment.

Just like I said in my review of volume one: this book is most certainly not for everyone, that said, if you did but this book, you probably liked the first one and the tropes will most likely not turn you off, so I won't go over that anymore. Let's just talk about the book from the perspective of someone who likes these books.

As I said, this is simply more of what you got in volume one. It follows the same formula: Clay and his harem have a jolly old time, some new dungeon lord attacks, and the rest of the book is them fighting that dungeon lord. It's simple. It's fun.

There isn't much to complain about, but at the same time, there isn't much to praise either.

Harrow does some character development, especially for the dark elf of the harem, as well as for the wakets (the Catgirls), which is good. He also worldbuilds some more, expanding on the history of the world he's in, as well as building on the multiverse and the dungeon lords.

I can never complain about good worldbuilding, and generic as it is, Harrow still does it well without annoying info dumps.

Something Harrow could do without, though, are the witty comebacks and sex jokes. They're… just not as good the 100th time you hear them.

It's the same narrator as in volume one, and his work is about the same.

To conclude, like it's predecessor, it's good, but nothing amazing. If you enjoyed volume one, you'll probably like this one as well.

I'd like to give the story and the narration 6 and a 5 respectively, combining into a 6/10 total.

Author doesn't really think too much about alternate reality world, extraterrestrials and how it would be logical to think that they all speak different languages and will not be able to understand pop-culture, idioms and stupidity. Author makes dialogues naive and immature, fills the extraterrestrial characters with forms of speech that would not be natural from strangers. Makes pop-culture and social references that aliens from other worlds would never understand...
Main character, Clay Knight, is supposed to be the best "hacker" in the world and yet, does not use any of his engineering, systems knowledge to conquer the Tomb (Dungeon) or other Dungeons conquered by his enemies. Clay Knight only uses gaming knowledge, but cannot act because he does not have enough Ka points (like mana or dungeon points) to be able to have a physical body. So all Clay does is talk, talk, talk, and stupid talk at that...and have sexual encounters with all of his female minions. If he doesn't have a physical representation (body) then why make the exception here? Clay doesn't eat or sleep, cause of his lack of a body, but is not the "Dungeon Core" either cause there is a Dungeon Core character.
This could have been a great story, but there is little to no effort made by the author. It's a lazily written story, with little or no thought and polish. It starts like a mixture between Tron and the Matrix but now, almost all of the "uniqueness" is lost with a typical Dungeon delving and conquest fantasy novel (except main character is spirit-like) and does not have enough Ka points to physically appear with a body (except when he has intercourse with the minion harem).

A decent continuation of the first book. It actually addresses some of the internal issues the first one created in terms of world logic by introducing things such as a Ka Refinery, giving the MC an ability to go beyond his dungeon and grow in other ways like claiming settlements all of which are required to actually maintain and rule an Empire.

What annoyed me at times was hat the MC is quick to "waste" resources. Take the Ka Refinery for example. Even for a level three dungeon lord, it would amortize itself within three days after which it gives the MC a steady income of desperately needed resources for personal, dungeon and minion growth.

The MC ends the book as a level five dungeon lord. Which means he should have three Ka Refineries as his immediate goal instead of slacking off rather than being content with a single one. A single one brings in 5. Where three would net him 9 per day and pay for themselves within 3 1/3 days. Given Ka is the single most pressing bottleneck he's facing and needed for pretty much everything this shouldn't even be a question. Instead by the end of the book he has a single one, which he inherited and is sitting on a huge chunk of Ka wasting a lot of potential income as he lazes about.

Doesn't feel like he's really interested in growing, surviving and keeping his followers safe.

Can't tell if the author or the character is an idiot but some one is incredibly dumb. First off, I'm going to write this review assuming that the character is just dumb. He does the following:

1.) Ignored the needed resource gathering methods (like the refiner) he could be getting. The only way he gets it is when it's handed to him.
2.) He does the worse thing any book character can do, refuse to communicate his thoughts, desires, or problems with his allies. He has a ghost in his head and he keeps it a secret from all around him. it causes him to lose time & focus and the other folk around him just see him going off in a fugue. If he talked with at least his familiar he may have answers.
3.) HE WON'T FREAKING SUMMON ANY NEW GUARDIANS. This has been so frustrating. He summoned 1 named guardian, and his scorpions, then was like yeah that's all I need. He has tons & tons of resources to do so & says 'It will take too long for them to get integrated...' blah blah blah. This seems to be just lazy writing intended only to add "drama", since there literally is no legitimate reason not to at least summon them and have them GUARD THE DUNGEON. They don't have to join the inane expeditions, they just defend the dungeon which is there jobs. Very frustrating.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Now that order has been restored to the kingdom, Clay is determined in restoring his legacy and that of the Wahket. The beautiful cat women are his to protect, and he'll do everything possible to do so. First on the list, however, is to clear the area around his beloved dungeon and establish the necessary boundaries for protection. There are those intent on taking what belongs to him, something he'll do his best to prevent by any means necessary.

Picking up where the first book left off, Dungeon Bringer 2 broadens the plight that now surrounds Clay. He's caught up in a world that leaves him mind-boggled at every turn. A world where cat women, unexpected monsters, and guardians are his for the taking.

Nick has done a lovely job in extending the lore behind the world he's created. He's also broadened the game elements he's using within the story itself. It's honestly a refreshing take on all things RPG. Granted, the book's genre is anything but the norm. Nevertheless, it provides the reader with unique views into a complex world full of mayhem, greed, and the need to satisfy one's own cravings.

Let's hope that Clay achieves an end to his own means when the time comes. Only time will tell!

Loving the increase in surprises, action and addition of new characters to liven things up.
This the 2nd in the series shows real potential as Clay attempts to increase his Harem, Followers and his survivability against a lot of interesting problems.
A few good twists keep this fresh and keeps me listening and justifiably full of anticipation for the next in the series.
Narration was good but a change from the 1st audio so in some ways its not as good with the female voices ,but not as recognisable as being from other characters in different audios.
Knox is new to me so I shall see how the 3rd in the series takes me and i shall reserve full judgement till then.

How To Attack With A Fortress

Clay works to protect his people. Using his dungeon expanding ability, Clay moves to take over an adjacent dungeon only to find a Dungeon Lord who hates him. Will he be able to overcome his rival Lord? I like the action, humor, and love. I look forward to the next book.

So-so

After enjoying the first book in the series immensely I was honestly looking forward to this one with baited great. But I find myself sadly dissing the story, to the extent that I did not even finish the book. It all just became a drudge trying to finish , until I finally just gave up.

Listen it's as simple as this if you like the first one you will love this one! I loved the banter back and forth between all the characters and the series of battles great attention to detail. Now I was a bit leery of the narrator shift but Alex didn't amazing job and I did not feel like there was a huge shift in personalities with the narrator's inflection do yourself a favor and get this book.

Worth reading: Once.

Linear, same basic plotline as a dozen other RPGlits. Unless you are into hentai porn, the boss fight will be uncomfortable. OTOH: Well written, a solid progression, and intriguing solutions to puzzles. Hopefully the next installment will drop the genre and be more openworld.

Nice One

A fast action-filled stat-heavy LitRPG story that doesn’t get bogged down at all in stat-page fluff, harem action, or self-absorbment, and keeps you guessing and chuckling. Definitely worth reading.

Dungeon?

I liked the first part of this novel much better than this one. I guess the magic system and the dungeon evolution aren’t doing it for me. I’ll still check out book 3

Nice sequel. The concept of battling dungeons was cool. I really liked that the characters advanced in power a lot more in this book.

Not as sexy, and much darker than book 1

Dungeon Bringer 1 had a lot of sexiness with a few moments of gross out vileness. Book 2 flips that equation and adds scenes of torture on top of that. The MC Clay Knight was a fresh change to a RPG Harem novel by being a decent guy in book 1. But book 2 starts out with him having a significantly altered personality. Now bent on conquest with a Cobra Kai attitude. this transformation happens between book 1 and 2 and is never explained or remarked upon. I did not enjoy the first half of this book and seriously considered quitting. Wile the MC redeems himself by snapping out of it and getting his head back on straight. There is also more focus on gross out puss, and torture, and brain eating parasites in this book than you would usually find in almost any other book with sex scenes. I did end up finishing it, and I do intend to read book 3 but my enthusiasm for the Dungeon bringer series has been dampened. Less torture in book 3 please.
