Loved the book - hated the ending!
Wow what a great plot - it should really have had a description up so that others could see that. But did it have to end that way? The pub just won't be the same!
When Star starts dreaming and having visions, everyone is sceptical until the Chicken gets in on the act. Especially as man dies of a heart attack just as she said. Now goaded to investigating a small group goes to the viewing only to find that another man is in hospital. Is it a coincidence that they were military pals of Dog's. The more they investigate the stranger things seem. Poison gas, poison pills, the FBI, a missing person, the MP's and a new medium are all wrapped up in a tale that you are sure to love. Even if you hated the endings as I did.

I seriously considered not reading this book when I read the blurb and learned one of the gang was going to die. Seriously? How could the author do that to us faithful readers??? How cruel. But since the author had sent me a copy of the book I decided to go ahead and read it. What follows is my own opinion and nothing could make me change my mind.
So this is not a spoiler. When you read in the blurb that one of the gang (from the Grumpy Chicken Irish Pub Series) isn't coming home, that cat is out of the bag. The question becomes, who will it be? As I read the story about Dog Breath's Vietnam service buddies, it became apparent that the crew would have to go to the funeral with Dog Breath and investigate. Never in a million years would I have guessed what they would actually find! I doubt you will either.
It is a good story of friendships-both war time of the past and the current time. I like the way the author makes the Grumpy Chicken gang all so different and interesting. Business partners, friends from the pub, one-half of a set of sisters, and a relative newcomer who is a medium all go to investigate the sudden death of Dog Breath's Vietnam buddy named Lugnut. Ok that isn't his name really, it's Harry something. But knowing he is Dog Breath's friend, he doesn't go by Harry. They meet up with his other good friend, Slick after they go to the funeral home. They meet some other locals as well, and discover Slick is in the nearby VA hospital. Nothing is ever easy for this gang! But keep reading because the book gets better and better.

This was the first of the 'Grumpy Chicken Irish Pub' series that I have read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, the plot was excellent, and the characters and their interactions were all very well drawn. The ending was rather sad with one of the gang not coming home.
The only issue for me was that it was quite difficult to get into the book because the author seems to assume that all readers would know the characters and how they related to each other, so I would definitely say that this book should really be read after reading the previous books in the series.
I received an advance copy of the book but have voluntarily reviewed it.

Wipeout woes
I've missed the Grumpy Chicken and crew so was very happy to get this book. The crew is back at work solving another mysterious death. Not accepting Dogs friend dying a natural death, they soon have a couple more near deaths on their hands. As the mystery builds and more clues are found, the crew find themselves in a life or death situation. All of their skills come in play to save them. There is a twist at the end that caught me off guard.
Every story in this series is a stand alone. I would still recommend starting with the first book in the series and read through. More details and information about the people and town are developed along the way.

Funny, intense and keeps you engaged until the end.
It's been awhile since I've read the other four books in this series. The characters are "unique" but very likeable. Story was well written and flowed well. There were some typos but the story was so good that I didn't get to distracted. Ending I won't comment on because of spoiler alert.

Cute story
If you like light reading with a little paranormal thrown in you will like this book. The grumpy chicken gang is at it again solving murder and mayhem with humor and ghosts. Have a good time with this book.

Fantastic
Well I just finished reading these complete series of The Grumpy Chicken, each book was better than the last as it is an ongoing story and you get so involved,you can't wait to start the next. Bravo to Constance Barker! Now onto the next series!

She writes great stories and this one was as good as all the others. As always, so very well worth the read. You won't be disappointed.

I am sad that this series has come to an end. I really like all of the characters and the sad ending was a bummer.

I loved it.
I really loved this one but the end. I love the Grumpy Chicken 🐔 series. I do hope there will be much more Grumpy Chicken 🐔 books.

Different
I enjoyed the book greatly. In fact I've enjoyed the whole series. This one though has a twist to it, but I'll say no more. Enjoy the book!

Rather than have the story firmly centered on Ginger, the lead is Dog Breath who is drawn into investigating a fellow vet's demise.
Of course the Scooby Gang get involved, unfortunately with tragic consequences for one of them. But don't let that deter you from reading the book. It's a strong entry in the series where the author shows no signs of slowing down.
An excellent entry in the series and I give it four solid stars.
