What an amazing debut from JL Perry.
I was hooked from the start of this intoxicating and beautifully written romance novel.
Ms Perry's story line is fresh and well written with characters that touch your heart and they are addictive, so much so you are thinking about them days after you have finished the book.
My Destiny is an escape, it is why I read romance fiction, there is love, lust and angst all rolled up in an awesome package waiting for others to discover. I really hope they do discover this book because I truly enjoyed every chapter.
Brooke and Logan's chemistry is sizzling and they have that instant attraction I won't go into the story as I don't want to spoilt it, but it is a rough ride for them, especially Brooke.
If you want a book that is romantic and angsty look no further this one is for you.
Congratulations Ms Perry on an intoxicating and sexy new release. I can not wait to read more from you!

I think I am in a diabetic coma after reading this.
This book is chock full of drama and overly emotional sappiness. Good Lord. And I love this genre, so when I'm annoyed I think that's saying something. Generally this was over-written and too many passages were repeated. The reader already knew the story about Brooke and her Mom from Ch. 1, so why did I need to read about it again when she tells Logan? Every other paragraph talked about how much they loved each other, missed each other, loved each other, thought about each other, loved each other, was so glad to have the other in their life... oh, and did I write, love each other?
This is the story of Brooke and Logan. They meet when she attends her then-husband Jake's office Christmas party. Logan is immediately smitten, but realizes that she's married to ass-Jake. Jake's been distantly lately and Brooke gets sick during the party. Poor Brooke then finds her husband all over his secretary out in the parking lot and then she gets seriously ill and faints, but not before Logan follows her out and sees her faint and takes her to the hospital.
After much more drama, Brooke leaves Jake and Melbourne for Sydney and tries to get her life back together. Eight months later, she reconnects with Logan after he sees her jogging in the park, and falls in love with him, but Jake finds her too and doesn't want to let her go in the creepy, I'm going to kill you kind of way.
Logan is too over the top perfect and Brooke is made the victim a million times over that it's hard to believe she didn't have a nervous breakdown... and if this book didn't end when it did, I think I would have had the breakdown.
The summary indicated that this was stand-alone, and in a way it was, but the author indicates at the end of the book that there will be a continuation... so not so much a standalone, and only and HEA if you're okay with an engagement as the HEA.

Wow found A new author who's first book was completely Amazing! I Loved Everything about it- It had A great story,Great characters,Had some SERIOUS angsty moments and had the friend/Lover most only dream about sweeping them off their feet- Truly brought about the emotions ..Definetly recommend this 2 book series- My Destiny and My Forever both available- 5 stars(Love it)

Really really really wanted to like this book. The constant bouncing back and forth between the two main characters POV just became exhausting. I was so turned off by Logan constantly referring to Brooke as "cute" and "adorable". The voice of both characters was so juvenile and full of angst it gave me a headache.That was until about half way through the story when the author realized she was writing about adults and started dropping so many unnecessary F-bombs, you could level a small country. Not to mention how "clean" these two characters had to be given how many times a day they had shower/bath sex. The author had a good premise but got lost in the character development. I really wanted to read the story this was billed to be.

This is the first book out for this author... and she DID NOT disappoint!
I won't say too much because i don't like spoilers, but this book is definitely worth the read and i am looking forward to book 2.
You will fall in love with Logan... i did, and his male role definitely differs from other books i have read, where if he doesn't get the girl at the time, he continues to sleep around... but Logan was steadfast in his love for Brooke and i am glad that JL Perry made his character like that.

This book was awful. The male character Logan was a whiney baby and Brooke was just boring. The author wrote it like she was a virgin. Fumbling around and not really sure how to bring it home. I couldn't even finish it. The !!! Got on my nerves..at the end of every sentence. Not interested at all in any thing else the author writes and that makes me sad. I don't normally feel like this after reading but it was just embarassing bad.

4.5 stars. Lots of great chemistry between Brooke and Logan. The story is in alternating POVs between the two of them so the reader becomes well acquainted with both of them. Brooke is a really good heroine. She has a big heart and a very compassionate and caring nature. She's honest and loyal along with many talents like cooking, dancing and playing piano. Logan meets her while she is married to Jake and although he's immensely attracted to her, he's a gentleman and doesn't pursue her but he does help her out in a dire situation. They meet again later when Brooke is separated from Jake and Logan is there to offer help again, this time with the intent to convince her that they have something special between them. Brooke is skeptical because Logan is a lawyer and lawyers don't have a good track record from her life experiences thus far. She's also worried about another heart break because she has no family or friends to lean on. Logan sets out to prove her wrong. The connection is undeniable. Brooke does have danger following her around and Logan is determined to protect her. Logan is simply amazing in every way when it comes to Brooke, he knows he wants her forever and will do anything for her. Brooke also has another surprise unleashed on her that tips her world upside down. She was very resilient in handling so many stressful events. Although I loved what Brooke and Logan shared because Logan cherished everything about her, it was the scenes between Brooke and John that hit me the most. I'm glad their story isn't over yet and look forward to the next book.

Brooke had a tough childhood but now it seemed she had everything: a supportive husband and a great life. She loved him so much that she put everything on hold, her dreams and the promise she made to her mother on her death bed, so he could become the great lawyer that he had. As the years ticked by, things slowly changed. Something was just off. The walls of her seemingly perfect life all came crumbling down when she caught her husband lip-locked with his secretary.
Logan is very sweet and caring. From the moment he laid eyes on Brooke, he knew she was someone truly special and he really wanted to get to know her. He had no idea what he was getting himself into or how his life was about to change.
A story of heartbreak and loss, but also about love and moving on, bettering yourself. A whole lot of suspense and a captivating book from beginning to end! I would highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

I don't understand the 4 and 5 star reviews on this book. The writing was elementary school worthy. I felt like I was reading a primary reader. "See Brooke walk." "See Logan call her baby." It was painful. And the editing wasn't much better.
The story had serious potential. Brooke's husband is a cheating ass. His boss, Logan, is a hot, rich attorney that rescues you. And there you have the beginning of a real love story. There was even some potential for hot sex, but the way it was written was so not sexy or hot.
I also had a LOT of trouble with the back and forth of the POV. Many times I had to go back a few pages to remind myself of which POV I was reading. It just jumped around, and around.
While I'd like to see how this couple ends up, I can't imagine enduring the second book in this series.

I first met J.L. Perry through Facebook. She was so nervous about her first book coming out. I'm not sure why because this book is truly AMAZING!!! She covers every detail from A to Z. You will not be disappointed with this book. Brooke has a dream of opening up her own music and dance studio, however when she packs up and moves to Melbourne with her husband Jake so he can pursue his dreams when he gets a job Cavanagh and Associates, she puts her dream on the back burner. Who knew that one night at her husbands Christmas party would change her life forever. Come fall in love with Brooke and Logan's story. You will wish you had a Logan of your own.

I just finished an ARC of my destiny it was amazing it takes you on the journey of Brooke and Logan.
You don't start from the middle of a relationship you start from the beginning with them one minute youre in swoon mode over logan and the next you want to slap hell out of brooke for being stubborn its not as graphic as a lot of the books out it will get your thighs clenching though lol and your mouth watering for logan I recommend this book because it was awesome!!! cannot wait for book 2 my forever.

I just finished this book and I can honestly say it was amazing. It was easy to fall on love with the characters, the setting and the storyline. I couldn't put this book down. As I read I was silently hoping that Brooke would overcome the struggle with her traumatic past and allow herself to find happiness with Logan. Logan's character is what you imagine the perfect man to be, and I was so happy with the ending. I can't wait to find out what happens in book 2 of what I felt was a love story in the non-traditional sense.

This is a story about Brooke and Logan, how they met and the things life has thrown at them.
Brooke was married to Jake. Brooke thought she was so happy and in love. That was until the company Christmas party. After Jake had disappeared for a short time Brooke decided to go looking for him. When she couldn't find him she decided to go outside to get some fresh air because she wasn't feeling well. As she looked around she saw her husband with his tongue down his secretary's throat. She took off running.
Logan has his own law firm. Jake worked for Logan. Brooke caught Logan's eye as soon as she walked into the Christmas party with Jake. She took his breath away with her beauty.
Logan had decided to go outside just as Brooke took off running. He also saw Jake kissing his secretary. He immediately knew why Brooke had started running. He saw Brooke as she collapsed. He grabbed Brooke up, had his driver, Chris, take her to the ER. There Brooke found out she was pregnant but they had to do emergency surgery. Logan stayed and saw her through surgery.
When she didn't return home that night Jake became worried. He was trying to call her and text her. She never responded. He never saw her collapse. The next day, when she returned home, he still didn't ask questions, he just started beating her up. She locked herself in her bedroom. During the early morning hours she was able to escape the house. She moved back to Sydney. She thought she would be safe there. Little did she know, Jake would find her.
Jake started stalking her. Destroying her property. Leaving threatening phone calls. She had to idea it was him though. Logan returned to Sydney from Melbourne. He had an office in both areas. He saw Brooke running and stopped her. He asked her to dinner. She was reluctant at first but finally agreed. Their relationship started to grow from there.
Logan grew concerned about the damage being done to Brooke's apartment and the messages she was receiving and had convinced her to move in with him. Brooke agreed to attend a birthday party for Logan's niece with him. There she met Logan's family. They all fell in love with Brooke immediately. Logan's dad was not a very happy-go-lucky type person but she even brought out the best in him.
Brooke is a ballerina and teaches piano. Her dream had always been to have her own studio. Before her mom died she promised her mom that one day she would have her own studio. Logan was so in love with Brooke that he would do everything to make her dreams come true, including buying her a studio, if he could. Is he able to do that though? You will have to read 'My Destiny' to find out. Brooke didn't know her father growing up. Does she find out who her father is? What about kids? It was always Brooke's dream, but what about Logan's? Will Brooke ever have children? What happened to Jake? Did he give up on Brooke? It's in the book. You will have to read and find out.

This is J.L Perry's debut novel and what a debut it was!!! It's one of those feel good books that leave us smiling long after you've finished reading!!
The story centers around Brook, whom has left her hometown and dreams to relocate to another state so that her husband Jake can pursue his. But instead of having their happily ever after like she'd dreamed, he betrays her in the worst possible way.
Brook and Logan meet briefly at a Christmas party, a meeting which changes both their lives, even if at the time they don't realize that.
Fast forward 8 months and Brook is back in her home state, trying to pursue her dreams and getting her life back on track. During one of her everyday runs she bumps into Logan again and they agree to dinner. Brook feels that she owes Logan that and she figures that once dinner is done and dusted all debts will have been paid. But it doesn't quite work out that way.
When Brook's past comes back to haunt her Logan is there from the beginning, doing his best to protect her, but can he convince her that he's nothing like her ex-husband? That he truly cares about her and would do anything in the world for her and that she can trust him? Only way to find out is to read the book, you wont be disappointed!!
I absolutely loved this book, it covered all the bases for me. It has drama, intrigue, twists and , and secrets that will leave you gasping. It has tears and laughter, "so want to kick their butts" moments and a very sexy knight in shinning armour, which is actually a suit :D!! There's lots of love and some very steamy scenes which will leave you a little hot under the collar!!
Logan is very different from other male characters - in the sense that he didn't dismiss his attraction and meeting with Brook the first time round as a no go zone and go back to how his life was. His meeting with Brook stays with him and there isn't a day that he hasn't thought of her. It was almost like she was it for him, which just made you melt inside.
He truly is one of those knights in shining armour, like the ones that featured in my favourite Disney movies as a little girl. The type that will love, cherish and keep you safe no matter what.
Brook is so strong. She has had a tough childhood, she never knew her dad and had to watch her mother die young, leaving her all alone in the world. Despite all that, she's still loving and caring, compassionate and kind. She finds it hard to trust and who can blame her after what her ex did to her, but she tries to trust Logan as best she can. But can she open her heart to Logan and find the happiness she deserves?
I cant' recommend this book enough and I can hardly wait to see where Brook and Logan's story goes in the next book.

I absolutely loved this book, it covered all the bases for me. It has drama, intrigue, twists and , and secrets that will leave you gasping. It has tears and laughter, "so want to kick their butts" moments and a very sexy knight in shinning armour, which is actually a suit :D!! There's lots of love and some very steamy scenes which will leave you a little hot under the collar!!
Logan is very different from other male characters - in the sense that he didn't dismiss his attraction and meeting with Brook the first time round as a no go zone and go back to how his life was. His meeting with Brook stays with him and there isn't a day that he hasn't thought of her. It was almost like she was it for him, which just made you melt inside.
He truly is one of those knights in shining armour, like the ones that featured in my favourite Disney movies as a little girl. The type that will love, cherish and keep you safe no matter what.
Brook is so strong. She has had a tough childhood, she never knew her dad and had to watch her mother die young, leaving her all alone in the world. Despite all that, she's still loving and caring, compassionate and kind. She finds it hard to trust and who can blame her after what her ex did to her, but she tries to trust Logan as best she can. But can she open her heart to Logan and find the happiness she deserves?
I cant' recommend this book enough and I can hardly wait to see where Brook and Logan's story goes in the next book.

Brooke was an only child of a hard working mother that gave up everything for her daughter. She would work two or more jobs just to make sure Brooke had what she wanted. But unfortunately, tragedy struck when Brooke was only nineteen and in college. This is where she met her future husband Jake.
Jake was an up and coming lawyer. When he felt he had reach his make potential he had started searching for a larger law firm to work. He was hired at Cavanagh and Associates. His boss and CEO was named Logan.
Logan had thought he had a pretty good life. He own one of the most prominent law firms in Sydney and Melbourne. He grew up in a loving home and everything he wanted. Or so he thought. Until he saw Brooke that is.
It was at the annual Christmas party at the Melbourne office. Brooke had arrived at the party separate from Jake. He had told her he had a late meeting. When Jake did arrive he didn't really pay to much attention to Brooke at all. When Logan had first got a glimpse of Brooke by herself he was drawn to her. He didn't know why and no clue that this night would change everything for Jake, Brooke, and Logan. That night Brooke not only got her husband in the up most moment of betrayal bit also almost lost her life.

Brooke has a hard time letting Logan pay for things for her so when he buys her a birthday gift to help fill a promise he gets nervous but her reaction to the gift is one that takes his breath away. Absolutely loved this story! We meet Brooke in the prologue as we find out that she has had a hard life of struggles. A single mom who died at a very young age and a husband who was her whole world! Giving up her dreams of teaching dance and music she moved with Jake to Melbourne. Jake was a very providing husband, never wanted her to work and only wanted her in the home. Children were brought up in the beginning of their marriage, but he didn’t want them anymore either. Noticing some significant changes in Jake, Brooke was feeling like she was losing him. Working long office hours being the great lawyer that he was could be stressful. When a company party approaches Brooke gets a call from her husband to meet him there. When she does he is not around. But when she sees a tall man standing in a crowd her heart does a double beat! This gorgeous man approaches her and introduces himself to her. Learning that he is also seated at her table they make small talk. But when Jake appears he practically pees on Brooke’s leg. Jake gets a call and excuses himself. In the meantime Brooke is left with Jake’s colleagues for a long amount of time. Suddenly she is not feeling well and takes off to look for her husband. Once she found him, she knows that she has had enough! But those pains take over and she finds herself blacking out and waking in the hospital. Logan knew this woman was special when he locked eyes on her at the party. But to have her faint in front her him was something else. Rushing her to the nearest hospital to get her help, he notices that she is bleeding. Trying to get a hold of her husband with no answer and then having to be there to make medical decisions for her was hard. But this woman had a strange hold on him. Once released, Brooke goes home to a husband who is enraged and frightening. When Jake laid his hands on her that was the last of it! She left him and went back ot Sydney. The start of a new life! One day she runs into Logan again while she is out for her morning run. This was a great read; I am looking forward to reading more of their life together.

Wow!! It was truly amazing book! J L Perry really catches the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful and all the emotional impacts and whatnot of it all! It was beautifully written and the cover was gorgeous!! I couldn't help but feel like poor Brooke just couldn't win. But she can and does even if she doesn't want to at the moment. I'm truly amazed at how people can go through and live through so much and still keep going. I can relate to some aspects of that but everyday is a struggle no matter what you do or don't have and life is truly what you make it whether you decide to stay or go whatever the situation. But J L Perry didn't miss a single thing. This book was about a woman and how no matter what life throws at her she survives and keeps going. She has to deal with love and a shattering loss and betrayal and not wanting to find love again but does unexpectedly with an unexpected person she met once who was there when she felt she had no one and needed someone the most! This twists and turns or maybe more like shocks in this book had me gasping in shock and in aww and of course pleasure cuz come on this book had it going on in the sex!! I'd give this more than 5 stars if I could because It was off the charts excellent!! I can wait to read My Forever! The next journey for Brooke and ya you have to read it yourself to find out who and what and where just know that it was amazingly good and J L Perry is a gifted writer who is gonna go far in the author industry!! Simply Amazing!! <3

Wow...wow...wow... JL Perry you are outstanding, nobody would ever believe this was your debut novel. Your writing is seamless, you write characters that are impossible not to love and a story that has you hooked from the off.
Now let's go take a little peak at the two main characters Logan and Brooke.
Logan is hot as hell, successful, and rich...he's had some of the most beautiful women grace his bed but none effect him like Brooke, from the moment he sets his eyes on Brooke that's it for him, he'll do anything to call her his own...
"I am not looking for a relationship, Logan, especially one with a lawyer." - Brooke
"So you are saying you don't want to be with me because of what I do for a living?" I asked. "That's a bit unfair, don't you think?" -Logan
Brooke hasn't had the best life and her experience with men in Logan's profession hasn't been good, throw that with meeting Logan just as her life's turned upside down Logan looks like he'll never win the woman that knocked him sideways.
I truly loved this book...it's like a breath of fresh air a beautiful, heartwarming, touching read.

This book captivated me from the beginning, it had everything you could possibly want to read all in one lovely package. The characters were strong and the story was full of life. Brooke is a beautiful young woman led into circumstances beyond her control and Logan her rescuer. There is love, lust, heartache, heartbreak and so much more, truly a great book and I look forward to the next installment which is coming soon, another bonus, you don't have long to wait for the sequels.

Wow, what can I say. This book had me tied in knots from the first page until the last. Caught, hook, line and sinker! What a wonderful story. It has just the right amount of suspense, horror, pain, love and romance to keep reeling you in. Every time I thought I had the plot figured out, there was another twist come along that pulled me in further.
Both of the main characters are perfect. Logan is the most wonderful, loving and protective hero ever! Brooke is the warmest, giving heroine who makes your heart ache with all of the pain and grief she has gone through during her lifetime.
The secondary characters, especially Jake and John just add to the plot, giving enough intrigue to keep things moving along interestingly.
If this is your debut novel J.L. Perry, I can't wait for the rest. You have a wonderful way of writing, enabling the reader to picture the story in their minds, as if watching a movie. I hope to be able to read many more books from you! Please continue to share your gift with the world <3 <3

Can't believe this was a debut novel by J.L. Perry! The story was so well written and one that you didn't want to put down. The characters were amazing, well all except Jake. Logan was a great swoon worthy book boyfriend and Brooke a beautiful heroine.
Brooke gives up everything for her husband Jake and his career. He wants a stay at home wife, she wants to open a dancing school. Jake has changed, his job is all consuming. He is not home much but Brooke is still the doting wife. At the company Christmas party Brooke meets Logan, Jake's boss and finds out Jake is cheating on her. She leave Jake after an abusive confrontation and goes back to Sidney.
Months later she bumps into Logan. The attraction is still there, but Brooke don't trust Lawyers. Can the handsome, wealthy lawyer convince Brooke that not all lawyers are like her dad and Jake. When someone starts stalking Brooke, Logan is her knight in shinning armor. And when someone from her past shows up can Brooke forgive.

I fell in love with this story and rooted for Brooke from the first chapter! If you are looking for a love story then look no farther. This story will take you away and make you feel the love Brooke and Logan share. Brooke has to overcome her fears and fight for herself but Logan wants to be right there with her to help. I really felt for her and couldn’t believe what she had to deal with to be free of that horrible man she called her husband. Once she finally let’s go and accepts what's in her heart it’s a beautiful story. Logan may be a high class CEO but he let’s his heart take charge and proves he can be everything and more to the woman he loves. It’s instant attraction when they meet and after Brooke’s life is turned upside down it’s Logan who will turn it right side up. JL Perry wrote with heart when she wrote this story and it’s amazing. I can’t wait to read the next book!!

This was a Story you can’t help to fall in love with. This sexy Story will have many layers, and have you experiencing heartache, along with the characters, only to come out the other side and feel love. Enchanting, at times captivating and real.
I can’t wait for the next book, I would highly recommend it.

WOW how can I put a review up for a debut book that had be by the start I could not put this down. Sweet, loving, heartbreaking, beautiful, hot and just Magical.
Brooke moves and gives up her dreams to follow her husband Jake, but it is not all happy families. Than at the Christmas party of the company he works for things turn in another way that something makes her up and go.
Now with a fresh start she bumps into Logan Cavanagh and though she is not wanting a relationship there is no denying the heat,passion that is between them.
It is a defenite must read Jodi L Perry really makes you feel, see and fall in Love with the charcters so do yourself a favor and read book 1 see why it is one of my favorite book series and continue to see what happens with Logan and Brooke.
