Laurie Gilmore is a #1 New York Times, Sunday Times, and Globe & Mail bestselling author who writes steamy small-town romance. Her Dream Harbor series is filled with quirky townsfolk, cozy settings, and swoon-worthy romance. The first book in the series, The Pumpkin Spice Cafe, was featured on Good Morning America and was named the TikTok Shop Book of the Year 2024.
She loves finding books with the perfect balance of sweetness and spice and strives for that in her own writing. If you ever wished you lived in Stars Hollow (or that Luke and Lorelai would just get together already!) then her books are definitely for you.
3 stars might be pushing it, more likely 2.5 as a series. Should be wet dream harbor for how horny these townies are for each other. At least everyone is getting plenty to eat, cue Judy Tobin “eyebrows eyebrows.” The tropes would be more enjoyable if the writing wasn’t so copy and paste. But will I read Annie and Mac’s story? Probably.
I absolutely loved this book! It gave me all the cozy small-town vibes and for some reason it reminded me of Gilmore Girls 😂. The setting, the charm, and the way the characters felt so real made it such a comforting and enjoyable read.
It even had a little spice sprinkled in—which was the perfect touch and made the story even better. Now I honestly want to pack up, move to a small town, and spend my mornings sipping coffee at a local café.
A great, feel-good read that’s sweet, cozy, and just steamy enough to keep things interesting. Highly recommend!
There was a lot of making out scenes but nothing that really captured my attention, there wasn't anything that made me gasp. It just seemed like the book dragged on and chapter after chapter the characters were making out. I wish that this book had something that would grasp the reader and have them in shock.
Okay, so I read just one of these: The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore, on my Kindle, but this more inclusive series overview is what Good Reads offered me when I tried to bring up just the one title. I was attracted to this title because, obviously, bookstore. The title refers to to the fact that cinnamon rolls are served every Sunday at the bookstore. The action takes place in Dream Harbor, Massachusetts, a small town with a particularly nice beach and a small harbor for fishing boats and a few private cruisers. The plot revolves around a bookstore employee who keeps discovering "clues" to her summer in the pages of misshelved books. A new guy in town becomes her partner in trying to do the things suggested by the passages underlined in these books, but he has a great deal of personal baggage he is reluctant to share. It is a sweet story with some positive secondary characters.
Homey yesterday romantic story in a small town with the main character just turning 30 and a charter boat captain that has been interested in the bookstore owner for quite some time. Friends that were in other books in this series are there to add interest too.
