Jerusalem Descending by Buddy Ray is a riveting exploration of faith, mystery, and the blurred lines between good and evil. With masterful storytelling, the author weaves a tale that unfolds against the backdrop of a hauntingly beautiful celestial Holy City. The novel has garnered acclaim for its intricate plot, well-developed characters, and the author's ability to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Critics praise the evocative prose and the seamless blending of supernatural elements with gritty realism. Jerusalem Descending is a captivating journey that delves into the depths of the soul, leaving readers questioning the boundaries of belief and the shadows that linger in the human heart.
This is a great tale about God's redemption. Second chances. Also the author has a very different take on the Rhesus factor of our blood group [that is a separate blood group from the ABO blood group. We are either positive or negative to this Rh Factor, for example, my blood group is O (from the ABO blood group) and I am Rh positive, so I am O Positive or O+.]
He ties this Rh Negative blood group as a special marker and those who have it are specially selected by God for specific purposes in the End Times.
Might sound far-fetched and a bit over the top, but Ray does use the poetic license with this well and it does not make you baulk at this concept.
I thought this was a stand alone novel, but there will be a sequel and the way it ends, you definitely can see that this needs it as it is very unfinished.
I loved it.
The first half is a recount of the MC's (Joe) life before accepting Christ and the curse of the occult on his family and himself leading up to his conversion to Christ. Then it is revealed through encounter with an Angel who reveals the special mission God has for him in the End Times and the connection of his unique blood group and a special supernatural function of his DNA due to this blood group.
The author states that it is,
"based on my curiosity about he rarity of the rearity of the RH-Negative blood group. It is simply a "what if" extrapolation looking at how God could use this for His own purpose. I have woven together a number of bible verse and scenarios to support this premise but please remember, this is fiction. If you have questions about the Bible, go read it."
It is well-constructed and written well. The author's writing style grabs you and does not let go, despite all the trials and tribulations that Joe and his family go through. It is very relational and engages you through out. The second half is entirely different to the fist and is very positive and you can see how God turned around all the effects of the occultic curse for the benefit of His purposes for the End Times.
The section relating to the title of the novel, Jerusalem Descending, is a great account of the New Jerusalem and I felt as if I was there. It was easy to imagine how joyous and exhilarating this will be. Just another wondrous thing to anticipate when Jesus returns!
