With the majestic Rocky Mountains just outside the window, I sit at my computer with vampires, demons, witches, faeries, and a variety of paranormal creatures gathered around telling me their stories! That makes me an author of paranormal romance novels and cozy mysteries with magic spark. The everyday world is mundane, but sprinkle a little magic and you have fantastic!

Colorado is home. I share my life with a wonderful husband of many moons, our brilliant Chow Chow, a terribly spoiled companion parrot, and a forty-year-old
box turtle. We enjoy hiking, biking, and camping, also love water sports including kayaking and whitewater
rafting, especially on the Arkansas River through the Royal Gorge.

Another passion of mine is reading a good novel. You can find me any winter evening curled up in front
of a crackling fire with a good book, a mug of hot chocolate, and a big bowl of popcorn. While growing up, if I didn’t like the ending of a book, I’d rewrite it, which led to writing my own books.

Reluctantly, I discovered that in real life it’s tough to rewrite an ending.

After an incident in Summer Riley's past she has pretty much shut herself off from everyone to hide her secret from her past. You see Summer is a witch but had something happen that closed her off from her family. She lives with her guard dog Piper as her company and runs her yoga studio but usually keeps to herself.

When Summer walks into the shooting range to sign up for a gun safety class she didn't expect to meet a man that sparks actually fly when the two touch. Devlin Sawyer owns the gun range and is part werewolf, he can't change but he still has all the senses and is immediately taken with Summer.

Another wonderful little Candy Hearts Romance, this time with a slight paranormal twist. These stories are lovely little tales of a couple meeting just before Valentine's Day and falling in love. Summer having cut herself off from everyone seemed to just be meant to walk into Devlin's life. Great read, would definitely recommend.

CHARM ME (A Candy Hearts Romance) by Tena Stetler
Review by Peggy Jaeger

Guard dog to keep her protected? Check
Yoga to keep her balanced, calm, and centered? Check
Pistol permit and gun to keep her safe? Check
Ruggedly handsome weapons instructed to unbalance her life? Check, Check!

Summer Riley’s life is going along just fine, thank you. Running a yoga studio and teaching the ways of life balance, serenity, and physical strength occupy her days and nights. With her ever present Chow, Piper, at her side, she lives her life quietly and without revealing any of her deep hidden secrets from other people.

When Summer decides to purchase a gun for protection – owning your own business and working late can always pose a safety problem – her well balanced life is thrown completely off kilter when she meets the gun shop’s owner Devlin Sawyer. In addition to his wicked good looks and charming manner, there’s a little something more about him that pulls her in. She can’t for the life of her figure out what it is, but she knows for the first time in a lifetime of worry, she’s willing to come clean about a past that’s not as balanced and serene as she’d like to admit.

For his own part, former Navy Seal Devlin has his own secret he’s finally able to share with a woman who has totally charmed him.

CHARM ME is part of the Wild Rose Press’s Candy Hearts Romance Series for 2016 and I must say, Tena Stetler charmed me with her story. I love a good tale about lovers who have secrets that may threaten their relationship fulfilling its Happily Ever After promise. Dylan and Summer’s secrets are doozies! I can thoroughly recommend this story to anyone looking for a good tale to tell.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Not your average boy meets girl here. When Summer Riley walks into Devlin Sawyer’s gun club and signs up for a protection class it’s clear they both feel the electricity in the Colorado air. But they’ve both got their secrets and suspect the other has one as well. Will they let down their guards and let the other in by Valentine’s Day?
I enjoyed the attraction between the two unconventional characters and found Summer’s dog, Piper, cast perfectly in the supporting role. A great winter read.

Fun to read and a good weekend at the beach read!

I enjoyed Charm Me, a tale of a witch who hides the fact that she's a witch. But when she meets handsome shooting range owner, Devlin Sawyer, she knows her life is about to change. There's something about Devlin she can't quite put her finger on… They fall fast and hard for each other and at last his secret comes out—he's half wolf. He can't shift, but he has the senses associated with his father's kind. And he knows already that she's a witch. How this all works out is what makes this a fun read.

A mystical valentine romp

Devlin is smitten when Summer comes into his gun shop for firearm lessons. Summer and her dog, Piper, both feel there is something magical about the store owner. This is a quick and more than a little steamy read about finding love quickly and grabbing hold for the happy ever after!

Reviewed on Musings and Ramblings.

I had such a good time with another Candy Hearts Romance, that when I saw there were so many to choose from, that I was going to have to sample a few more. The cover on this one didn't sell me right away, but the fact that it was a paranormal romance, sure did.

Summer and Devlin have an instant connection, but each one has reasons for taking things just a bit slow. Of course, with a novella, thing move more rapidly, but honestly it didn't feel rushed to me. The romance and world building went hand in hand as we learned more about each of them. Though I would have loved to have had more information about their individual types of magic, I understood that only so much could be conveyed due to the length of the story. I could happily read more set in this universe though. I had a good time with this story and gave it a solid 3 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and Wild Rose Press for the opportunity to read and review the book.

A wonderful story of attraction, magic and opening up once more to the chance of happiness or being hurt. Of how the past can grip hold of you and only be released once you talk and face it. And of how, a chance meeting can change your life, if only you open yourself up to the chance.

Tena Stetler in “Charm Me” weaves a romantic story of two young business owners who meet, but who have a hint of paranormal qualities to their character—just enough to make the story unique. Devlin Sawyer, shifter, owns an indoor shooting range, and Summer Rylie, white witch, owns a yoga studio and a charming little dog called Piper.

Summer and Devlin meet when Summer wants to buy a gun and learn to shoot for self-protection. Sparks fly immediately. But each character has a secret he or she needs to share before they can become a couple.

When Devlin invites Summer to his cabin in the mountains along with his sister and her husband, the romance bursts into bloom. Despite the cold and snow of their surroundings, the couple’ attraction develops and the sparks grow hotter. . .igniting flames of passion.
This is not only a fun Valentine’s Day read, but also a perfect story to read with a warm cup of chocolate, coffee, or tea on a chilly evening.

I found Charm Me a delightful paranormal Romance.

Summer is a witch getting over a bad relationship and running away from her past. She's moved to a new town to set up a business and to run away from her powers. To defend her broken heart, she's got a big scary dog and a little scary gun.

Devlin has a past, but he is a bit easier about putting it aside and getting on with the present. Even in spite of failed relationships in that past, he's not hesitant to move forward into a new relationship. This might be because "his kind mated for life." That's the way of werewolves.

This is a story with coming to terms with not only who you are, but with what you truly want. It is also a story of acceptance. I enjoyed reading Summer's journey of healing and realisation. I would have liked to have seen more about her process of self-forgiveness.

Being an elemental witch with an unfortunate incident hanging over your head isn’t a comfortable way to live. Summer Rylie has gone out of her way to re-establish herself as owner of a yoga studio in hopes that the calming meditation will soothe her troubled soul.

Devlin Sawyer has secrets of his own. The son of a werewolf and a human, he’s gained his father’s emotional attributes, but not his ability to shape-shift. His keen animal instincts served him well as a Navy Seal, but have played havoc with any type of personal relationship. Now he operates a local gun range and keeps to himself.

Tena Stetler leads her characters down a path neither expected to go and right into a Valentine’s embrace.

Summer and Devlin have a complicated relationship from the start. The reader finds out quickly that Summer is a witch who realizes Devlin is also a magical creature as soon as they shake hands. He's also the owner of the shooting range where she signs up for lessons.

The author packs a lot of information into the novella, making it a slower read than some of the other Candy Hearts stories, but no less intriguing. The paranormal elements add context and backstory, but the attraction between Summer and Devlin seems grounded and real. 4.5 candy hearts for this magical romance.

If you like your contemporary romance with a dose of magick, check out Tena Stetler.

I enjoyed this story of two magically-endowed people finding their way to one another in the real world! Summer, an elemental witch, has a past she’s struggling to accept. Devlin, a retired Navy SEAL, has his own secrets and understands the necessity of making sacrifices to protect what he loves. It’s destiny when they come together.
This book starts like an ordinary romance, and then the author begins weaving in the enchantment. My favorite line from the book? “Magic creatures live and die by a different set of rules than regular people.” Add a gorgeous Chow-chow (one of my favorite dog breeds) and the beauties of the Colorado winter, and this is just perfect for a snuggle-up read.

(request submitted by author for an honest critique)

With the skittishness of Summer around the dangers lurking in the dark, I thought more would've unfolded which might've created a more in-depth plot. Maybe if this was a full length novel rather than a short story, my wish would've came true. However, this was a short story who's main focus was on love ---hence it being a Valentine's story.

True to form with all LOVE stories, there was romance and romantic gestures. Devlin sure knew how to woo a woman. Lucky witch (Summer).

All in all, not a bad read. Short, sweet and (for lack a better word) charming. :)

Paranormal Love Story!

Summer and Devlin are both hiding from their pasts and not really living. Then they meet and it is an instant craving or magical connection they have for each other. Neither one understands it but they will take it slow to get to know each other.

I really liked this story and the characters. It seemed to flow easily. Devlin didn’t want to scare Summer off and her dog liked him so it was a plus all around.

I recommend this book for the little magic in all of us.
