The Cascades Raptor Center is filled with natural killers. One of them is human. . .Logan McKenna is enjoying her new life, including marrying her long-time love, Ben, playing her cherished violin, Bella, and taking long, morning runs on the magnificent Oregon coast. Fascinated by the abundance of owls, eagles, and hawks she encounters, Logan volunteers at a wildlife rescue center, where she becomes immersed in the world of raptors and those who fight for these fierce, wild creatures.
But when Logan finds a coworker dead on the floor in one of the hospital wards, the peaceful forest becomes a scene of tragedy—and maybe murder. There are no signs of a violent struggle, but the office next door has been vandalized and the cause of death remains unclear. Even the official autopsy finds no evidence of homicide, but Logan thinks things just don't add up.
When the police investigation stalls, Logan takes matters into her own hands. With the help of two local friends, she sets out to uncover the killer. The deeper she digs, the more the killer's attention turns chillingly towards Logan.
Racing against time, Logan must use all her skills and strength to find the truth and stop the killer, before she becomes prey and is silenced forever.
In Plain Sight is an immersive mystery and a satisfying, multi-layered story about friendship and trusting your instincts, even if—especially if—you're not sure where they will lead.

A book addict from way back, I cut my teeth on fairy tales and C.S. Lewis, skipping class to hang out in the library. Later, I moved on to Tolkein and Twain. During graduate school, I only had time to read Anthropology books, so it wasn't until later I got hooked on Mysteries and Thrillers. Michael Conneally's Bosch, Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone, C.J. Box, J.A. Jance's Sheriff Brady, and Nevada Barr's Anna Pigeon. I don't know about you, but I burned through those books as fast as I could discover a new series. Still do!
But it wasn't until I had a serious back injury that I realized how important well-written stories were to me. I could get lost in a good book. They kept my mind off of things over which I had not control. And even though they were pure fiction, the ones with strong, female protagonists inspired me to overcome my own hurdles in life. I realized I not only enjoyed reading them, but I wanted to write books like that.
Somewhere during that time, the character of Logan McKenna began to take shape, eventually turning into my first book of the Logan series, SHATTERED. With 8 books and a novella prequel in the series so far, I am grateful readers have enjoyed getting to know Logan and friends and keep buying the books, allowing me to do what I love. I am rarely happier than when I am at my keyboard, headphones clamped on my head, listening to ocean waves crashing on rocks (my go-to white noise), allowing the story to flow out of my fingertips.
I also love to hear from readers. It may take a while due to my research and writing schedule, but I will answer!
My husband and I live in our dream forest cottage on the Oregon coast with our dog, Finn. We have six children and numerous grandchildren, grand dogs and a few grand cats. When I'm not at the computer, I'm usually out walking Finn or in the kitchen trying new recipes.
This book is not in my normal wheel house of genre but was an amazing change of pace. I would consider this book an amazing palette cleanser from what I have been reading. That being said, lets get into the nitty gritty of this book (without spoilers of course). Let's preface this with I haven't read any other books in this series, so I can in starting fresh. Most times you will need to read the rest of the series to figure things out but I don't feel like that is the case in this series. Granted after reading this book, I now want to go back and read the rest because it was just that good. Logan is an amazing character with a lot of depth that I didn't foresee her having. She has an amazing relationship with her husband Ben. She plays a violin that she named (love that). She starts a new job doing something that she feels gives her purpose and is helpful. Then a murder happens to a co-worker. Well, not everyone thinks it is a murder. So, Logan decides to take matters into her own hands and investigate what happened. This book took so many twists and turns that when I thought I knew who did it or what was happening, I turned the page and found out I was completely wrong. It reminds me of the board game Clue. Everyone is trying to figure it out, you go to prove it but then there is another card that is shown and all your thoughts come crashing down. That is what kept me turning the pages and not being able to put the book down. This book is full of mystery, suspense, drama, danger, edge of seat scenes, and an amazing love story. I highly recommend reading this book and I am going to start at the beginning of the series.
Everyone loves a good mystery, and this book is one of those. I am coming in late but excited about playing catch-up. Logan was an exciting and delightful character. Finding a calling by volunteering at the bird sanctuary she appears to be acclimating to her new life, and marriage. When she stumbled upon a murder, she becomes her own detective and starts a hunt for the killer. The further she investigates is when things pick up as she herself becomes a target. There is drama, danger, humor, and an all-around lovable story.
Logan is happily married and enjoys playing Bella. Because of her love of animals, she decides to become a volunteer at a wildlife refuge. Logan is learning a lot and enjoying her volunteer work when she walks in on the scene of a murder one day. Logan puts herself in danger when she decides to investigate this death.
Valerie Davisson has shown her storytelling skills with "In Plain Sight: A Logan McKenna Mystery." This is the eighth book in Davisson's series, which can be enjoyed as a standalone, although it is best enjoyed if read in sequence. The plot is fast-paced and the characters well-developed, making the book easy to follow and entertaining. Neither features are overworked or complicated. There are enough clues to keep the pages turning and the reader trying to guess who did what but not so vague as to be frustrating.
In Plain Sight is Book 8 in the Logan McKenna Mystery Series. Logan is now married to her best friend Ben and has settled into a routine. She still plays her beloved violin, Bella, and her music career is blossoming. Life is good and Logan has time to do the things she enjoys like going for morning runs by her home on the Oregon coast. It is during these runs that she becomes fascinated with the beauty of the owls, hawks, and eagles she encounters along the way. Wanting to learn more about these majestic creatures she decides to volunteer at the Cascades Raptor Center.
Through her volunteer work at the Cascades Raptor Center Logan not only learns more about the owls, hawks, and eagles but all the work involved in caring for them after they have been rescued. She meets an amazing team of volunteers who have dedicated their lives to the care of these majestic creatures. When Logan goes into volunteer at the Cascades Raptor Center early one morning, she is shocked to discover the body of one of her beloved co-workers in one of the wards. At first glance, it appears that her co-worker has died from natural causes, but Logan cannot shake the feeling that something is not right. Logan senses that there is more to her co-worker’s death than meets the eye because her co-worker’s office was also vandalized, and a threatening note was left for the co-worker on her blackboard.
When the police investigation seems to be going nowhere fast Logan enlists the help of two of her friends and the three of them set out to solve the mysterious death of Logan’s co-worker. Thankfully, her friends have connections, and they can uncover answers that even the police and the coroner have been unable to discover in their investigations. This sleuthing by Logan and her friends has the killer’s attention now focused on Logan. The deeper her and her friends dig the more sinister secrets are revealed putting Logan’s life in danger. She is now racing against time to solve the mystery before she becomes the killer’s next victim.
I found this book impossible to put down because I needed to find out who the killer was. This book had wonderful characters and was action packed throughout. I became immersed in the lives of Logan and her friends and fully invested in the mystery of her co-worker’s death. I found myself trying to guess at the killer’s identity based on the subtle cues the author gives throughout the book. Boy, was I surprised when the killer was not who I thought it was! The killer truly was hiding in plain sight all along! I highly recommend this book and am going to ensure that I read the rest of the books in the Logan McKenna Mystery Series. If they are half as good as this book, I know that I will not be disappointed!
This book took me a while to get into, but I honestly had some personal things going on and I didn't give it a REAL first chance. I made myself go back and reread it and give it the chance that it really deserved. I am SO GLAD that I did too!! It hooked me with its claws and held on tight! Anyways, to the book! Lol. Logan volunteers at a animal rescue center. She's loving it more and more the deeper she becomes a part of the wildlife center. She is loving the hawks, eagles, and owls. She's slowly becoming closer to some of the other staff too, especially the vet of the center. When she comes in early one day all things come to a screeching halt with the center. She find's a coworker's office ransacked and the coworker dead in one of the other rooms, along with a dead raptor she was helping with! What has she stumbled into?! No sign of what caused the death has everyone stumped. With no leads the investigation stalls, but Logan thinks there is more to this story. With the help of two friends, they look into what they believe might be murder! The killer's attention turns towards Logan the more that they dig into the murder. Before she becomes the killer's next victim Logan must find out the truth about what happened to her vet friend. She knows something is off, but can't put her finger on it. Will Logan find out the truth of what happened before the killer gets to her. Will she be silenced before the truth comes out? Will she be the killer's next prey? What about her friends helping her? Will the killer get them too? Will the killer get away with the vet's murder?! And possibly theirs too? This mystery thriller will hook you in! I read this book as a stand alone, but there are more to the series that you can read first. It isn't needed, but I personally can't wait to read the others in the series. I also LOVE that the book is about raptors and it touches on a great cause of saving these beautiful wild creatures.
Logan is now living a new life, with marrying Ben and moving to Oregon she is clam and relaxed. With this new life comes new pleasure and although she still enjoys her beloved violin, she has taken up running in the morning through the beautiful scenery of the Oregon coast.
This then gives Logan an idea to volunteer at the local wildlife rescue centre and while enjoying the job and caring for the magnificent creatures there she becomes embroiled within an investigation of a co-worker who she found dead within the autopsy suite, and in typical Logan style is drawn into the drama and thriller that finds her the target of the killer.
I have read all the books in this series and yet again this book is amazing. I love the character of Logan as she is strong, determined and tries to find justice for though who cannot, this book delves further into the relationships Logan hold dear to her and I loved the twists and turns with each word written and page turned. Although I believe this can be read as a stand-alone book, it maybe advisable to read the others just for some point of references and to see how this character has developed through the series but as I say this is not a necessity to enjoying this story. With these stories I always feel like I am a secondary character walking through the details with Logan and being engaged with each turn of the page.
Yet again this is a wonderful thriller and I hope that they continue so we can see more of the growth of these wonderful characters.
The eighth book in the Logan McKenna series. I have read several and they are all enjoyable and well-written. In this episode, Logan is trying to enjoy her new home on the Oregon Coast and her new marriage to long-time beau Ben. Logan is captivated by the local population of birds of prey and volunteers at the local raptor rescue center. All is well until one of the veterinarians turns up dead in her examination room. Was it a heart attack – or foul play?
The mystery takes Logan to Portland where the trail of the potential killer intersects with some of Logan’s friends. Along the way, multiple suspects emerge while the author leaves just enough of a trail of breadcrumbs to keep the reader guessing. As always with Ms. Davisson, the characters and relationships are the core of the story – along with the food. (Don’t read a Logan McKenna story on an empty stomach.)
There are a few places where the internal logic of the plot gets a little attenuated and the reader needs to go along with the flow and enjoy the ride. It’s a fun story filled with amazing descriptions of the beautiful Oregon coast region and its indigenous wildlife – in this case the birds of prey that are both characters and a reflection of the story. This book is suitable for both fans of the series and new readers.
I was a beta reader for this book and am providing my honest review.
I’m a big fan of this series, and yet again I was gripped from start to finish with this mystery, crime thriller. I loved being back with our heroine, Logan McKenna and her now husband, Ben, both of whom feel like old friends. Logan is enjoying life at the start of this story, enjoying playing her violin, taking long morning runs, and having time with Ben. Logan then decides to volunteer at a wildlife rescue centre, and becomes involved with the wild raptors. Logan’s peace doesn’t last long though, when a coworker is found dead, and although there’s no sign of a violent struggle, the cause of death remains unclear. Despite the autopsy finding no evidence of homicide, Logan believes it could be murder as the office had been vandalised, and things just don’t seem right. Taking matters into her own hands, she decides to uncover the killer and along with two friends she digs deeper. However, this brings her to the killer’s attention and if she’s not careful she will end up as the next victim. I was hooked by this fast paced, page turner of a novel, and literally could not put the book down. As usual the descriptive narrative brings both the characters and the setting to life, making me feel immersed in the storyline. An enjoyable and engaging read, and one which I definitely recommend.
This is the 8th book in the Logan McKenna Mystery series. Everytime I pick up one of these books I know I'm going to be take on a gripping murder mystery and this was just as I expected. The characters growth throughout these books is amazing to see and its nice to see her finally happy with her long term love Ben. But it seems everywhere Logan goes there is always trouble.
We are back with Logan in her new home. Finally settled with her now husband Ben, Logan is enjoying her life and decides to embrace her love of Birds of Prey. Now she has spare time she decides to volunteer at a wildlife centre where she can fully immerse herself and her love for these beautiful birds. Sounds perfect right? That is until one of the vetanarians Logan works with turns up dead. Was it a natural death or something more sinister? With Logan believing there was foul play she sets out to uncover the truth but little does she realise that by digging she has brought herself to the attention of the killer and now its a race against time for Logan to find the murderer before they get her.
This story is very gripping and will have you turning the pages and not being able to stop. I was fully immersed and captivated by this story that I couldn't put it down.
I have loved the amazing books that this author creates for some time now, and this author never disappoints me in all that they write. They weave a story that grips you, and intrigues as you read, and leaves you wanting more! I was hooked completely as I read through! The book was amazing!
This author created such an astonishing thriller, and one that shakes your soul as you read. The characters were very connectable, and I was very much invested in them and the mystery and story that was a hand. What I loved about Logan and the mystery was that the build up was quite dire. When things were found, so were more things, and things kept building. Danger was everywhere. You needed eyes everywhere, I felt my heart beat fast quite a few times as I read. I felt I was alongside Logan as I read. The story was perfectly done and full of its ability to be realistic! This was a well worth reading! I cannot say enough good things!
Again, this author never disappoints me with the griping books that they create and bring to life. This one takes the cake though! Highly recommend this book, and the author as well! A must read all around!
Logan McKenna is a badass character that everyone will fall in love with within the first few chapters. She’s married to her soulmate, Ben who seems to be her perfect match. If you’ve read any of the previous books in this series, you’ll recognize this book continues with their story. As per usual, suspense and mystery seems to follow them everywhere.
As a fan of crime mysteries, I felt this book was an impeccable addition to this genre. I also enjoyed the details regarding the beautiful winged friends described within the storyline.
I felt as if this story had a perfect amount of plot twists that will keep the reader intrigued and second guessing themselves when trying to figure out what comes next. This is anything but predictable.
The author did a fantastic job and fans of this series will be overjoyed with the new addition. For those new to this series, I think they will enjoy this book and want to grab another from the series or start at the very beginning.
This book had great imagery, a beautifully designed plot and fantastic characters.
What a great book In Plain Sight was. I have not read the other books in the Logan McKenna series but now I need to after finding such a strong and fearless female lead character that is very well-written and so easy to relate to. So, Logan finds herself enjoying her new life married to Ben and living on the beautiful Oregon coast. She enjoys her time playing her violin and volunteering at a wildlife rescue, but things are not as smooth as she hoped. Upon arrival one morning at work, she finds a co-worker dead and the raptor she was doctoring dead as well., it becomes a huge mystery as to who the killer is and why. Is it the coworker’s gay lover, ex-husband, or someone not even known to Logan? Logan takes matters into her own hands to find justice for her coworker and friend but puts her life in danger in the process. This was such a great book! A real vision of true friendship, love, and the need for justice. You will not be disappointed in this read! Strong female characters lead the investigation and finally solve the murder. Great character development and edge of your seat thriller, this is a great book to be read!
In Plain Sight by Valarie Davisson is the 8th book in the Logan McKenna series. Just like the previous books…it is extremely entertaining! Logan thought that life was going great…she was finally getting her life together. Logan married her boyfriend Ben, she has been volunteering at a local raptor enclosure and is becoming friends with the main vet. But unfortunately Logan just can’t seem to stay away from drama! Logan jumps in to figure out what has happened to the vet and this drags her into the midst of this mystery all while the killer desperately tries to erase any clues that might tie the murder to them and it has to be before they get caught. Logan and her friends find themselves in grave danger! I enjoyed that I didn’t immediately solve the mystery and couldn’t figure out the suspect and I felt like I was alongside Logan trying to figure everything out! This book gave me clue vibes…and I was all for it! You definitely need to pick up the other books to get to love all of the Logan McKenna series!
I’m becoming a huge fan of suspense novels, and this one is definitely feeding the addiction! Logan is our main character, and she is awesome! I love how she is portrayed as a strong independent woman who has found a partner in her husband Ben that compliments her. He is part of the story without being overpowering. Our other main characters are Logan’s best friends, Jean and Sam. When tragedy strikes at the Cascade Raptor Center where Logan volunteers, things don’t quite add up. The CCC, or Cormorant Coffee Crew, take it upon themselves to investigate into the mystery. Sam is an investigative Journalist and Jean is a Medical Examiner. I loved the mystery and suspense of this one. The characters are extremely well written, and the world is fleshed out perfectly. I also loved all the facts and “interactions” with the raptors at the Raptor center. Ms. Davisson did her research super well and made me want to run out and find a similar center to volunteer at!
Thrilling mystery that leaves the audience completely captivated and unable to turn the pages fast enough. While I was able to read this book as a standalone (this is book 8 in the series), I can not wait to go back to book one and read the rest of them! My first book from Valerie Davisson, but certainly won’t be my last! Newlywed Logan McKenna is newly married to Ben, the love of her life, and together they have settled down on the Oregon coast. Logan is over the moon to be volunteering at their local wildlife refuge, and she is enjoying her time with all the beautiful creatures that’s she working with. One day, Logan discovers a coworker dead and it’s soon after that she realizes the sanctuary isn’t what it seems. It isn’t long before Logan rounds up some local friends and they dig deep to try and uncover the real killer of her dead coworker. Twists and turns galore, will leave the audience guessing until the very end! Highly recommend!
In Plain Sight is Book 8 in the Logan McKenna series. I am enjoying each book in this series, and although this book could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading all the books as you get to know Logan better. This book has what I love in reading....crime, thriller, secrets, murder with twists and turns and finding out the who done it.
Logan is back.....enjoying her time now being married to her beau Ben, having her music and volunteering at the Cascades Raptor Center.....life is good. Meeting new people while volunteering and helping wildlife out and taking care of the animals...you never expect anything bad to come about. When a body is discovered at the rescue center, at first nothing is off key. When Logan has this sense that there is something more to this.....Logan goes out and tries to find out the reason why her coworker has passed and who is behind it all....
I thought I figured out who was behind it all......
I had the privilege of beta reading Valerie Davisson's next book in her Logan McKenna series and am delighted to say that it's even better than the previous books which are all superb.
One of my favorites in this book was learning about the raptor center, where Logan decided to volunteer, because she suddenly has spare time.
The murder was saddening and stunning, and as Logan attempted to solve it with the help of her girlfriends, I kept thinking I'd figured which character did it, only to be surprised that I was wrong. At the end, my first suspicion was confirmed but, as with a really good mystery, I was led astray. As always, Ms Davisson's character development is excellent and the settings are gorgeous.
I love reading Ms Davisson's books, because I find myself an observer in the story as if I were living it with Logan, a woman I'd enjoy as a friend.
This is a series that I have enjoyed from the first book. It is a series that keeps getting better and better with every new installment. I have enjoyed reading this author’s stories and how her writing skills bring her stories to life. This book is no different. This is a well written story where Logan is back in a race against time mystery. Will she be able to stop a killer before she falls victim to the killer? This is a fast paced story that had me coming back for more. It is a story that is full of action and twists and turns that you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed the growth of the plot throughout the story which made the story easy to read. This is an entertaining story that you don’t want to miss. Logan is a great character that made the story for me. This is a great story that I enjoyed by a great author. I highly recommend this book.
I'm a little picky when it comes to my Mystery books. Wow am I glad that I took a chance on this one. Settled in the backwoods of Oregon, you see Logan McKenna playing her violin named Bella, and married to her long-time beau Ben. They are thoroughly enjoying the married life together, and Logan working at the wildlife rescue center, everything is bliss, until one day one of Logans co-workers end up dead. Was it on purpose or was it accidental? The writer leads the reader on a wild goose chase with left and right turns and feels like ad adventure. She leaves just enough to keep you going. I really enjoyed reading this book. I discovered that this was book 8 in a series, but it felt like I wasn't really missing anything important. The word building was phenomenal, and well executed! I think I may just go back to the beginning and see where this all started in book 1.
In Plain Sight follows Logan McKenna in another action-packed mystery by Valerie Davisson. In this installment, Logan is a volunteer at the Cascades Raptor Center where she aids in caring for killers of the avian type on a daily basis alongside the center’s veterinarian, Evka. One day a killer struck but this time, it was of the human type and the Cascades Raptor Center was hit with a tragedy. Logan and her friends, Sam and Jean, teamed up to solve the mystery. Can they find out who did it and why? In Plain Sight is full of relatable characters and feelings. It is full of twists and turns and when you think you know who the killer is, a twist turns you in a different direction. I did not want to put it down. I would not change a single moment in this book. If you are looking for a fast-paced mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat, look no further.
This was a wonderful read that was full of suspense! I kept trying to read super fast to see what happens next.
Logan is starting her new job at the Cascades Raptor Center working with the lead vet, Evka. She is fascinated by the fierce predatory nature of the hawks, owls, and eagles, but also how caring and compassionate Evka is towards the birds. Everything changes when Logan stumbles upon a dead body at the Center and can't shake the feeling that it's actually a murder. Unfortunately Logan can't just ignore her gut instincts and the murderer decides she needs to be silenced. Will she be able to help crack the case or will she end up with the same fate?
I loved the amount of suspense and mystery throughout this book. I had NO idea what direction was up and there were so many twists that kept me guessing until the very end. I highly recommend In Plain Sight!
When Logan McKenna volunteers at a local raptor park, she has no possible idea of what she is about to be involved in. The very experienced vet who works at the raptor park is mysteriously found dead, her office ransacked and a beautiful but injured raptor, who she was caring for, found dead. Without any apparent suspects, Logan, with the assistance of two or three good friends, sets out to try and solve the mysterious case.. In turn this puts Logan, and some of her friends, in deadly danger as the unknown assailant tries to close up all loopholes to escape detection. Who is the unknown person and why did they want the vet killed. Finding out proves to be a dangerous pursuit. A well written and intriguing murder/mystery well worth the read.
Logan McKenna is back again in book eight of the series. All of the series can be read as stand alone books, but it does help with background character building to read them all in order. The story itself is not affected by reading the books solo. In Plain Sight brings us back into Logan McKenna's ever busy life and things seem to be going well for her. She decides to volunteer at a wildlife rescue center, helping wild birds of prey. Her life can not get any better...until a coworker is found murdered. This one is a little different. There is no evidence, or even a sign that a murder took place other than the body. Law enforcement are stumped so Logan, ofcourse, gets involved. This one may be my favorite in the series so far, I cant wait to read the next one in the Logan McKenna series.
In Plain Sight is the eighth book in this wonderful series wow where has the time gone. The series started out a little rocky but I stuck with it and am glad that I did because it has gotten better over time.
Logan always finds herself embroiled in another tangled web. Davisson once again weaves a multi layered and complex plot that draws us in. The Logan McKenna Mystery series has become one of my favourites. I see Davisson’s name and can’t wait to grab a copy and get going. I am never disappointed. I have said it before, but I will say it again with each book Valerie’s stories get better and this one is my favourite so far.
It is filled with intrigue and drama, tension and suspense and danger, lies and deceit, secrets and murder.
In Plain Sight is the eighth book in the Logan McKenna Mystery series by Valerie Davisson. This is another intriguing crime and investigation story with mystery, murder, friendship, danger, drama, a wildlife rescue centre, raptors, tension, and a race against time. As I have said previously, this series is definitely getting better the further into it I get. In this instalment we see Logan McKenna begin volunteering at a local wildlife rescue centre, but trouble seems to have a way of finding her and she soon finds herself investigating another mystery when a co-worker is murdered. Her investigation becomes a race against time in order to uncover the killer before she becomes the next victim…. Wonder what Logan McKenna gets up to next?
Logan McKenna has settled into a quiet life in Oregon with a few friends and a new husband. By coincidence Logan finds out about the Cascades Raptor Center and decides to start volunteering there. When Logan finds the raptor vet she has been working closely with dead, Logan decides to investigate her murder. At first, no one is actually convince that it is murder. With the help of her coffee crew, Logan discovers the mystery behind the murder.
I love the twist as to who is the guilty party. I was ready to convict Jimmy. I didn’t see the real killer coming. This one will keep you guessing right until the end.
This was my first Logan McKenna mystery. It was a nice change of pace from some of my usual picks. I am glad I chose this out of all my options.
I loved this book! I kept trying to guess the plot along with the main character Logan and I also kept asking myself what I was missing and the answer really was in plain sight. The characters were engaging and all had their own personalities, which the author was able to portray through the writing. I will also always know a fun fact about turkey vultures that I would have never probably known before, even though they are a common bird in my home state. This book flowed well and was very easy to read and several times I had to convince myself I needed to put the book down to get other things done. I was able to keep all the characters straight-which is something I sometimes struggle with in books. This is definitely a book I would read over and over again.
Logan is on a new journey. She moved to Oregon and has married Ben. With her eyes wide open, she has a better outlook on her life. Cascades Raptors her fascination with Birds, owls, eagles and hawks just to name a few. Logan volunteers at the wildlife center. This is where the story takes off. You'll find yourself wondering who did it. This author has a real knack for pulling you into her stories. This the 8th in the series, for me is my new favorite. I was hooked before I finished page one. The author makes you feel as though you are right in the middle of her series. You can't help but to fall in love with her characters. Be prepared for this thrilling crime story, as you won't be able to put it down once you open it.
This was the first book I read in this series – and I can say that it functioned well as a stand-alone. The plot was intriguing, and I learned a lot from reading it! The author clearly researches every aspect of her story and brilliantly entwines facts and details that make it feel real and authentic. I am happy to say that I will be purchasing more books in this series because I love the writing style and the mystery aspect. Another thing I really enjoyed about this book was that the main character/heroine is an independent woman who has a grown child and grandchild. You rarely happen upon books that have a detective type older than 20’s. This was a refreshing aspect. Additionally, the rest of the characters varied in age and substance. Definitely recommend!!
