In the tumultuous span of a week, Kalyn faces the harsh blows of unemployment and eviction. A stroke of fate leads her to a lifeline—a flyer offering a live-in maid position at a billionaire’s mansion. Little does she know, the mysterious employer harbors a a love that he has quietly endured for four long years.
He falls for her during her darkest hour—her heart getting shattered. Keeping his distance, he silently observes her at the diner where she works.
Returning from a business trip he finds she somehow is now employed in his home after being laid off. The very home he envisioned bringing her home to. The boundaries now blur between employer and employee and his unwavering love for her.
This book had me on a roller coaster of highs and lows. Not necessarily in a good way. It had so much potential. The first few chapters before the main characters meet each other feels unnecessarily drawn out, especially considering what was going on with the FMC. I almost DNF’d it then and maybe I should’ve. I would’ve saved myself hours of disappointment. I really enjoyed the characters themselves. Kalyn, although a bit too much of a pushover at times, was a solid character with a lot like-ability. And although there are elements of stalking, it unfolds differently than most books with this trope. Everything is 100% consensual (no gray areas) and the MMC is not necessarily a toxic-alpha male. There was a lot of potential for a believable and solid love story to be told and that sadly did not happen. The annoying part was the excessive spice. I love a good spicy book but there HAS to be a solid story/plot as well. This was a lot of surface level, shallow conversations between the two with most of their interactions being spice. This story lacked depth and a suitable plot. The times the leads were together and not engaging in intimate acts were very enjoyable to read. It does end on a cliffhanger but I will not be continuing the story. I’m pretty sure I also will not give this author another chance either.
~This was my first read by Kaliope! This book follows Kalyn on a drama filled roller-coaster when she finds herself in need of a new job. I'm unsure if this book is supposed to be a re-telling but it definitely had a Cinderella story vibe. I love a spicy book, but I felt like the spice was the same over & over while also finding the plot to be very repetitive as well. I also don't usually mind miscommunication between the MC's but in this story the MC's relied on other characters to fill them in on each other the entire story which just felt off to me. I am excited to see if any of the side characters get a story as there were a couple that I would love to learn more about!
The duet narration for this audiobook was great! Dahlia & Sean did a phenomenal job bringing this story to life. Both of these narrators fit these characters super well & their performance flowed super well together!~
~As Always Happy Reading~
~I was provided a listener copy of this title from Dahlia in exchange for an honest review, thank you Dahlia!~
OK, don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed this book; but it’s definitely mostly drama and spice.
Things happen pretty much the way you expect them to but you’re still going to get all the feels from the audiobook, which I think is absolutely helped by the amazing narrators. This book has simultaneous dual narration (no idea if that’s actually what it’s called but that’s what I’ve dubbed it). Both narrators do a stunning job with all the voices!
The only thing I didn’t really enjoy was the constant mention of how teeny tiny the FMC is. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with it but the amount of times that it’s mentioned borders on strange lol.
What a fantastic spicy read. I couldn’t dislike Genevieve enough and was so glad to get rid of her. From stalker to passionate and even tender lover Jonah worms, his way into Kalyn’s heart. We discover a sweet and tender, passionate protective side that no one realized he had before.

This was great although I felt like a few scenes could have been skipped, and what the hell happened with Brad? I'll buy the next book because I need to know what happens next.
This follows Kalyn and her journey from jobless to being in a pretty great situation... there is spice , suspense, drama... ALL OF THE THINGS!! Kaliope is one of my favorite authors and you all NEED to add this and the other book in the series to your shelves!
