I think every child who grew up in Oregon has had this book read to them at some point. In my case it was my third grade teacher who read it to the class each day after recess. Not a great deal of books stick out for me during this time of my life, but something about Priscilla the pig caught my imagination. It is such a charming story about a rather charming pig and it is based of a true story.
I really liked Priscilla. It was a book with a roller coaster of emotions. The beginning of the book was very heartwarming, and throughout the book, it was too. Priscilla is a pig, who was saved by a little girl on a farm and was taken care of by the girl. during Priscilla's life, she met the pig friends too
They don't write books like this any more, which is a shame! It's a sweet, pure little story about a little of who was raised by people and her adventures in a hog farm. I lived how kind and loving the owners were. It reminds me of Babe. Lovely little story, sad though.
This book is an absolute childhood favorite of mine. I have probably read it at least 10 times and I find that most of the children I read it to also love it. It was written by a local, Oregon author who actually raised Priscilla in the house. The author, Colene Copeland, has a wonderful way of writing that make children feel that they are a part of the story but not being written down to at all. I fell in love with Priscilla when I was a 2nd grader. I wrote to Mrs. Copeland and asked her to come to my school and talk about Priscilla and she did! It was so exciting! This book has also become a favorite for Arely also and she has this book and has been collecting the sequels. I love reading this book with all the kids and just enjoyed it with Israel.
Sweet, sweet Priscilla. My boys loved reading this every night. We discussed many life lessons after finishing each chapter. I'm so glad I remembered this book from our elementary school librarian reading it to us and revisited it with my children.
Still one of my absolute favorite reads! I have read this book and series several times in my life and they never disappoint. I have had the immense pleasure of meeting the author twice and hearing her tell about her Priscilla and seeing pictures. These are sweet books that from a young age taught me the love of hogs.
My friend from Stayton, Oregon wrote this book. Though I thought I had an autographed copy somewhere, I can't seem to track it down. Anyway, I think most things I know in life I learned from this book.
