After the sudden death of her father, Dani-Jo has to figure out where to go and how to deal with loss while facing the threats of the Savages, Pirates, and more. Following a fatal battle, the group sets out to the beach - the first time, for most of them. Along the way, there are certain hurdles Dani-Jo must cross.
While visiting the ocean for the first time, the crew soon learns that the mutated beasts aren’t only land dwellers. During their vacation, they stay at a rumored haunted castle that Dani-Jo has more connections to than she realizes. Secrets unfold and she learns much more of her heritage.
Dealing with her internal battles, she allows herself to open up to the possibility of love, but with that possibility comes risks that she’s not sure she’s willing to take...
After an attack on the castle while they’re staying there, Dani-Jo’s left fighting for her life. What will her future hold?
Restoring Dani-Jo is a fast paced adventure where she fights to determine her future in a dystopian world inundated by threats, mysteries, and treachery.
This is an adrenaline rush novel full of fantasy, romance, and paranormal abilities. Perfect for fans of strong heroines, robust males, and steamy romance.
Dani Jo suffers the loss of her father and I really felt for her and empathized with her grief. She also has a lot to deal with on top of her grief including savages and pirates. Despite the hardships DJ faces I think she’s a strong heroine. I love Kage as well and just how kind, respectful, and chivalrous he is. His relationship with DJ is perfect and I think he’s wonderful for her.
The writing employs strong sensory details to convey the experiences of the characters. It’s easy to empathize with them and put yourself in their shoes as you imagine their emotional turmoil and physical pain. I was rooting for DJ and Kage and wanted to see them together they’re such a great couple. I thought these two really outshone the other characters and so while I really cared about DJ and Kage the other characters came up a smidge flat. I found myself more invested in the romance, but some of the bigger details and the big picture of the plot didn’t feel as fleshed out. There were some great battle scenes, but I felt lost on the details of who the enemies were. There are other books to go with this one and I’ll give them a read to get to know the other characters better. All in all I enjoyed the book and will definitely check out more books from the author. The ending left me wanting more and I’m excited to see what happens next.
Restoring Dani-Jo, in my opinion, was the best book in the Iron Mountain series! I really enjoyed the first two and this book grows and solidifies the relationships started in Book 1. It has suspenseful action scenes, steamy romantic scenes, and is uplifting in its ability to speak positive affirmations to the reader through the character dialogue. Havana Wilder knocks it out of the park with her third novel!
I'm LOVING the Iron Mountain series! I was very fortunate to receive an ARC of Restoring Dani-Jo. Thank you SO much @havanawilder. This is the third book in the series and will be releasing on June 11th! Following the events from the end of Defending Pierce, DJ is feeling responsible and mourning the loss of her father. She is dealing with threats from living in a dystopian society while trying to find herself along the way. This is a page turner! It has an excellent balance of romance, mystery, and action. I'm very much invested in these characters now and the world that Havana has created. Kage and his lionheart were left in a great place. I can't wait for Awakening Adi!!

Dani-Jo is reeling from the loss of her father, and afraid to leave Iron Mountain to go on vacation with her friends. Kage, the hot and romantic newly elected Chief Protector, is helping her through her pain and survivor's guilt. Things start to get eerie when Dani-Jo starts to hear voices. You guys, this book had it all: A haunted midevil castle, sea creatures, secret passageways, endless romance, and the thing Wilder excels at...battle scenes! Will the relationship intensifying between Kage and Dani-Jo cause her to unravel... or help restore her? Find out for yourself. And stay tuned for book 4!
I LOVE these fantasy dystopian YA books, and Dani-Jo's story was my favourite so far. Things even got a little steamy between Kage and DJ -- I see you Havana!!! These books are the perfect blend of sweet romance, finding yourself, and enough dystopian action to keep things interesting. I love the world Havana has created, and the characters who live within it. Needless to say, I cannot WAIT for Adi's book.
Also... where do I get a six blade knife? Asking for a friend.
This book is from. Dual perspective jumping from Dani- Jo to Kage. This book starts with the history of Tova and Dani - Jo friendship, the history of the Dust extinction event, and the history of Iron Mountian. Dani - Jo is going through a lot in this book, still dealing with the heartbreaking loss of her father from the last. Ok. Now she is also dealing with her attraction to Kage. Her emotions are a bit of a mess. The whole team decided to get away for a few weeks and take a trip to the beach.
They end up staying in a supposedly haunted castle and run into some exciting townspeople and dust-changed animals. Things are tense between DJ and Kade, but they come around. This story, albeit unique, is very Ya in the steamy department. Things go up and down like a rollercoaster for Dani - Jo, and Kage. But the end of this book was a huge surprise, and I loved how the author branched to a new place and adventure.
This book was excellent, so well written and described. Yes, it helps to read Protecting Tova and Defending Pierce first to understand the fantasy world-building in the story. However, this book took place in so many new areas that it was fun to read and read as a standalone story. The cast and crew are the same, which I love even though we focus on different characters. This book has just the right amount of suspense, drama, and romance to keep you flipping pages. The author did a fantastic job creating and describing her destinations in the book and the characters' turmoil. I really loved how the story twisted and turned and wasn't happy the entire time for the main characters.
Picking up where Defending Pierce leaves off we find Dani Jo still mourning her father's death all while trying to survive in a Dystopian Society. Dani Jo is simply trying to find herself after all that she's lost and what the gang has been through.
Dani Jo has to face many challenges but luckily she has the support of her friends and Kage who was her biggest supporter even in previous books. There is attraction there but with everything Dani has been dealing with is finding love really worth the risk.
It was good to see characters from Books 1 & 2 and how Tova and Dani Jo's friendship has grown. Dani Jo and Kage were already close but it was refreshing to see them take their relationship to the next level.
This book is an action packed fantasy full of new monsters, epic battles, friendship and taking a chance at love in the midst of it all
Granted I prefer books with more HEAT but it's good to pick up a book that keeps you entertained without all of the steamy chapters. A little spice coupled with a lot of Action and Epic Adventures makes for some enjoyable reading
Lovers of romance??? This way please. Lovers of Dystopian fantasy?? You too. Similar to the previous books in this series, this one too is lots of romance will some great fantasy elements. Even though it's a bit cheesy romance, it's actually really really good. Not kidding. I actually loved it. The perfect Prince Charming and the perfect damsel in distress. Now I know that sounds a little negative, but she's in fact in distress, not a Damsel though. What I really loved about Dani Jo is that, she's a damn good fighter and her nickname Lionheart really suits her. Now, this book alone is a good read but my attention was more on how the series as a whole develops and I have to say there are some really interesting things happening in this book. The series as a whole is taking some interesting turns and the characters are growing up really good. The book alone is clean and sweet. 😉 Kudos to you @havanaWilder 👏
In the third book of the Iron Mountain Series, we explore another character of the main group, Dani-Jo. She is struggling with the death of her father and I found it refreshing that it really dealt with all the facets of loss. It clearly showed that it is a process, and sometimes a really hard one to go through.
The relationships all these characters have, and the support they give each other, is really interesting to me as a reader. Sometimes you just need someone to be there (like Kage) and let you struggle with the anger and pain in order to move on. I liked that this book showed that it is okay if you are falling apart, it's human. But eventually, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I have really enjoyed the character development and expansion of the world for these friends. I look forward to reading more from @havanawilder in the future. Happy Pub Day!
Okay first, id like to say another HOME RUN! 🤪 I freaking LOVE Kage and DJ!
Even through suffering from the loss of her father (and dealing with other stuff, trying not to spoil TOO much) she still handles pirates 😈 talk about a strong woman!
I love Kage for his whole being, his respectful nature, his kindness. Can I have a man like him please?
And like always she did such an amazing job with the details and explaining everything. She has a way of really pulling you into the story to make you feel what the characters are feeling!
😩 I'm sad that it was over so quickly, the ending really left me wanting more and more
I wish there was more explanation of like the enemies, and a bit more detail for Kage. But honestly I loved the romance, and the fighting scenes without all of the extra details.
I highly recommend this book and I'm excited for the next one!
First of all… Can we just talk about the covers in this series? This one is my favorite. Hello, Volodymyr!
Book 3, in my opinion, is the best so far. Havana simply gets better and better. Dani Jo and Kage are couple goals. They are so sweet and strong together. They’re perfect. Kage is always willing to back up his girl, and it’s so endearing. I love how chivalrous he is.
Dani has been through so much. It’s heartbreaking. And while the romance is incredible in this story, the story itself is just as good. My expectations with this author grow with each book, and she always manages to exceed them.
