Summary: Loki injects Gaia with a serum that lets her feel fear and also hallucinate, It's revealed that Gaia be fearless because of a serum injected into her when she was a baby, Ed finally admits his love to Gaia and they get closer, Heather tries to find out what's going on with Gaia, Natasha and Tatiana start living with Gaia although Gaia doesn't like them, Tom starts falling in love with Natasha, Gaia finds out Josh has clones and has to fight them off in the park after they nearly kill Ed, and later Heather starts dating Josh (a clone, mayhaps?).
Quite a mediocre read compared to book 18, but at least Twins gave me another character besides Ella and partially Ed/Heather to root for... Tatiana!
1) In the beginning monologue, Gaia thinks that if two parents are geniuses, there's no way a kid can be born with a lower IQ. Actually there's always a chance that can happen.
2) I think Ed's parents are terrible for leaving him at home alone, barely calling to see if he's okay. Couldn't he be sent off to a relative instead?
3) I really hate how Tom likes to think he's in the right for hiring a woman he barely even knows to help watch Gaia for him and thinks George is wrong for thinking it's a bad idea too. Tom, George is a better caretaker than you have ever been so far, so you don't really have much of a point to stand on here.
4) "I know most nine-year-olds probably thought their mothers were the most beautiful women they'd ever seen, but I was also a lot smarter than the average nine-year-old, and in my case, the opinion was based solely on fact."
Not only does this sentence irritate me to no end, but Gaia claiming Katia's beauty as a fact IS STILL AN OPINION. I don't care how smart Gaia claims she is, thinking someone is attractive will always remain an opinion bottom line.
5) From all the death, abuse, and angst Gaia witnessed, is it any wonder how she hasn't had much PTSD, trust issues, and major depression as of late? I get this is like a bad Telenovela/Teen drama show in book form but still I would like to see more realism in this series.
6) How does eating Froot Loops make anyone childish? The cereal may appeal to kids, but according to the InfoScout page of Froot Loops it greatly appeals to lower middle age consumers compared to anyone under 24 (https://www.infoscout.co/brand/kellog...), as in, many adults love Froot Loops and not just children.
This line is as stupid as the one in Book 6 (Payback) where a girl named Lucy is called innocent because she possesses a Hello Kitty Pencil tin.
7) If they're having so much trouble keeping watch on Gaia, wouldn't it be easier to just lock her in a room in the apartment with limited trips outside? It would sure kill a lot of the plot though.
8) If there were Fearless serums being produced by the time Gaia was born, why didn't the agency think to try it on a grown adult compared to a baby? Better yet, why didn't they make a few Fearless symptoms to test on different genders and age groups to observe the effects greater? It's bad enough to try it on just one person but the serum could have potentially killed Gaia (not like that's a problem with me though) if the chemicals entered her body that young. Why wasn't Tom injected instead?
9) I like how after Sam bites the dust, Gaia is so committed to Sam that she starts a relationship with Ed without caring much about Sam. Heck, I don't even think she mourned for him as much as she did for Mary or Ella.
10) I like Tatiana so far because she seems like a decent character. Too be she's getting shit on by Gaia every other time so far.
11) "I thought Heather was the master manipulator, but this girl's shtick makes Heather look like Snow White."
Wouldn't that sentence make more sense if an actual fairytale/Disney villain was used? I can't understand why Snow White is used here.
I'm actually wondering what will happen to Tatiana in the next book...

This is a 2.5
This was crazy for sure and I predicted the twist we get in first chapter cause the last time we thought it was one it was the other.
Oliver/Loki finally gets his hands on Gaia and it definitely doesn't go well. He claims more lies and the dangles freedom of being free of being Fearless in her face only to runaway after drugging her when she's found by her dad's guys.
I'm also sure that the two so called protecting Gaia are really working for Loki instead.
I was happy that Gaia escaped and by the end she sees the light so to speak. It's going be interesting in next book with all that's going on. I don't trust those women at all. I feel badbfor George too. Ed is for sure happy though which why this got a .5 instead just a 2.

Just because I want to something different I'm going to write the reviews in a Friends episode format. Enjoy!
The One With Gaia's Implanted Paranoia
Gaia Moore is with a dilemma. Loki, her biggest enemy, is closer to her. Way closer. The problem is, her enemy is either her dad, Tom Moore, or her uncle, Oliver. Because they're twins. Identical twins. When her uncle Oliver proposes to her a cure for her fearlessness, she agrees. Unfortunately, what Oliver did was to implant her with a paranoiac virus, making her violent and with terror. It's all going according to his plan. Meanwhile, two family members of Katia's (Gaia's deceased mother) visit Tom Moore, making him question his loyalty to both Katia and Gaia. And they might, or might not be, associated with Loki. In another note, Gaia and Ed Fargo's relationship is full of sexual tension and their feelings for each other are undeniable.
BOOM, baby! I loved it!! Gaia's paranoia was very intense and exciting. But, man how I hate Tatiana and Natasha. It's obvious they're evil!!

I've read this series over ten years ago. But I remember it being very good. For the first 18 books. After that the more it lasted the worst it got. I stopped at book 32. These days I wouldn't give it more than 20.
Back to the good stuff. I found that Gaia was a good strong, pretty but still flawed character. She was special without being annoying. It's just that once the author stopped looking over the shoulder of the ghost writer. Things went down the drain pretty fast.
Last note. The series may be in boxes but I won't be giving them away any time soon. She's a good example of an interesting main character in an interesting premise.

Again, excellent plot sequences and point of view from Gaia. Easy to read, and keeps you wanting more.

I glad that Gaia has finally admitted to herself that she likes Ed. I don't know what to think of Natasha and her daughter.
