The Kincaid family doesn’t have much, but they pride themselves on having each other. Always close, Emory Kincaid’s children have a friendship in addition to their siblingship—especially his twins, Rowan and Jameson. However, the summer that Ro and Jamie turn eighteen creates a rift in their relationship that impacts the entire family.
As time passes, the distance between Jameson and his family intensifies. Physically, the young man is right there in front of them… but his troubled thoughts keep him distant. Jamie yearns for the ability to travel backwards through time. He yearns to once again be that boy he was before turning eighteen.
But what if there’s a way to venture back through the hours?
When she was in the fourth grade, Hannah Rae couldn't fall asleep one night. She climbed out of bed, padded down the hallway to her parents' bedroom, and said, "Mom, I can't sleep." To which her mother replied, "Make up a story in your head." So Hannah created a cast of characters, and a setting, and a plot... and to this day, the first thing she thinks about when she snuggles under the covers each night are those characters and that setting. But the plot is always changing.
Don't get me wrong, I like to be right, which might be why I loved this book so much, because the amount of foreshadowing made me right, then proved me wrong in the best way. You'll understand if you read the book. This book was really, truly amazing. I love how all the characters fit together while being their own selves and while figuring out who they are. There's innocence, pain, and most importantly love all throughout this book, and it is just written so well. Thank you for another wonderful read Hannah Rae!

Rowan … Jameson … Milo … siblings. Emory Kincaid, patriarch and gifted artist … his craft at times “mystical” … otherworldly. Their lives … their stories … “Time Jumps” … an engrossing, beautifully written story of life, loss, coming to terms, acceptance, healing and triumph. The characters rich, deep, beautifully drawn and developed, They face challenges, real world challenges, some very serious and sensitive in nature, ALL emotionally and beautifully conveyed in a discrete and non-sensationalized manner that adds SO MUCH to to ambiance and feel of this beautiful story! Kudos to both the author and narrator for THIS! No spoilers. Once you listen to this magnificently magical story you will know EXACTLY what I mean. you will feel IT in EVERY fiber of your being! When this beautiful story finishes playing out … once the last pieces have dropped into place … and you realize HOW EVERYTHING FITS! You will cry as you sit awestruck! I know I did! I was gobsmacked! Completely in awe by the magic of this listen! Perfection in writing! Perfection in character development! Perfection in plot development! Perfection in narration! Every piece of a magnificent puzzle is there, ALL placed to perfection! It made me cry, It made me “awe”, it made me angry on behalf of characters I’d come to care so much for, THEN it made me rejoice! When the last lines were spoken, I was crying happy tears, completely satisfied with everything about ”Time Jumps”! I completely loved this five star listen! This one is writing and narration ALL done to perfection!
This was a great read—excellent character development; a beautiful, slightly magical story. The narrator was perfect. Loved this book and I’m looking forward to seeing Milo again in Torn Asunder!
Time Jumps shows us all how the love of family can transcend and endure during life's hardest trials. Rae's novel follows the Kincaid family as twins Jamie and Rowan enter adulthood. The twins, once inseparable, become distant as they pursue their own paths after high school and as Jamie deals with his own inner turmoil. As you read, you will feel as though you are a part of the Kincaid family. They are endearing and lovable characters! Like Rae's other novels, Time Jumps features magical elements, this time in the form of tattoos created by Emory Kincaid. The magic enhances the novel's story and will keep you reading. You definitely want to add this one to TBR list!
Granted, I love all of my books... but I *really* love this one. The Kincaid family wiggled its way into my heart, from Sailor to Emory, and the number of times I think of these guys each day is surprising. Plus, I think the magical elements are cool.
Another thing I think is cool? The novel's location in time. It takes place alongside Kick It One More Time and The Way Back, so there are some references that Hannah Rae readers will be privy to if they've explored my other works.
Fair warning, though: This novel will make you crave ice cream.
