I very much enjoyed the first book in Jan Romes’s ‘Texas Boys Falling Fast’ series, Married to Maggie, and I knew this next book wouldn’t disappoint.

Still, having met Quinn in Married to Maggie, I couldn’t quite see how Jan would make him a likeable hero – he really is deplorable in that book! But my goodness, she expertly achieves it.

I just love a story in which the main characters go on a journey to conquer their fears and, though finding who they really are, find the person they want to be with. This book delivers at every turn, and by the end I was rooting for Quinn to get his girl.

I love the set of characters in the story. Through realistic dialogue and believable interactions, they live and breathe beyond the pages. It was great to check in on the hero and heroine of Married to Maggie, and also to get a sense of where the next book may lead – I really like the interconnections; clever and original.

Maggie, for me, was a heroine par excellence, but she was a little upstaged at times… by her cute three-year-old daughter. She made my heart melt! She was also a sobering element of the story, because she never let me forget the reason Maggie can’t afford to get hurt again, and must protect her little family at all costs.

The writing is effortless – witty, sassy, memorable and the pace kept me turning the pages long after I should have put the lights out and gone to sleep! And the passion… perfectly executed and sizzling hot. But for me it is the tender moments that are most moving; there’s a vulnerability to the characters beneath their talk-the-talk exteriors, and I loved getting to know that side of them.

Definitely a book to put on your holiday reading list this summer. Now I’m off to download Book 3, Taming Tori (and she sure needs some taming!).

$3.33 on Kindle. Paperback $6.99

Millionaire Quinn Randel is a self confessed ass. After his loveless relationship to Tori ends he waists no time in pursuing the woman who has for a long time held his attention, Kylee Steele.

Kylee is a bartender and a single mother and is studying for her PhD. After having her heart broken by her ex and left to raise her daughter alone, Kylee focused on working hard to pay for her studies to make a better life for them both. But when it comes to Quinn Randel she seems to have no control and behaves a little wildly . Quinn and Kylee have an intense attraction but coming from such different backgrounds Kylee doesn't think anything can work between them and she's not the only one.

Quinn is a jerk to everyone around him but that's just his way. He has his own demons which makes him think it's ok to push everyone away. However he knows if he wants a chance with Kylee he will have to curb his inner asshole. Kylee has a young daughter and Quinn knows they come as a package deal. He never wanted kids yet finds he can't stop himself from going after her. Can he make it work? Will Kylee take the chance on him anyway?

Kylee and Quinn fell hard and fast just like the first couple in book one, only I didn't warm to Quinn as quickly as I did with Ty in the first book. The chemistry between Kylee and Quinn is great and I loved that all their friends from the first book were in this story too. Sorry to compare them but if I'm being honest I have to say this book didn't grab me as much as the first.

Having said that, I still enjoyed this one very much. It was a comfortable and easy read and almost as good as the first book but Married to Maggie did reach a bar that Keeping Kylee just couldn't quite reach. But not by much.

I think that was more of a personal thing though as I was completely in love with the couple in book one. It did take me a while to fall for Quinn but it was good to see how far he came emotionally in the story. There was a Birthday present given by Quinn later on in the book which made me sigh and my eyes water and I really wanted to hug him. Yes I think that's when I really fell in love with him.

Kylee's issues also confused me a little as I understood her fears but thought she could have handled things differently. But this is a great series so far with interesting characters and I look forward to seeing if any of the other couples can tip Maggie and Ty off their perch. For those who are reading the series, I would be very interested in hearing your views on the couples so far. Bring on Taming Tori!

I rate this 7 out of 10: Very good, would definitely recommend a long soak with this one. I also give this :

1 flame heat rating. As I said when I reviewed the first book I don't usually give heat rating to this style but Kylee and Quinn also have great chemistry and this series continues to give me a show burn. Well deserved.

Keeping Kylee (Texas Boys Falling Fast, Book 2 )

Millionaire Quinn Randel is a philanthropist and a total jerk. He has a perfect life but doesn't want a wife and kids. He just broke off a two year relationship. Then he meets Kylee Steele a bartender, single mother and college student. Can Kylee tame his wild ways? Could she possibly be "the one"?

Kylee Steele let a man into her life and he broke her heart. But she did get a beautiful daughter out of the bad relationship. Things are finally starting to go right, she is working her way to a PhD in psychology. Then Smooth talker Quinn Randel enters her life. She wants him but she knows guys like him are not in it for someone like her.

Kylee is very likable. she has been hurt at love before, but she is a strong woman. Single, working as a bartender, going to college and raising her daughter on her own.

Quinn is a "player", a flirt and a womanizer, but he is still likable. The two make an unlikely pair, watching the two interact, feeling their emotions was intense.

Keeping Kylee has the perfect blend of drama and romance. I highly recommend to those who love a sweet romance.

One of the single most challenging aspects of writing a series is to bring the principle characters from one book into another one, without having them overshadow the new players, or change the tone of the book. In this I tip my hat to Jan Romes. Her continuation of these characters book to book is not only consistent, but we continue to learn more about those we have fallen in love with in "their" book.

If you have read Married to Maggie, you will love Keeping Kylee. We rejoin the story of Quinn Randel; wealthy, attractive, and for the most part doing his level best to skate through life. He suddenly finds himself single and at his cousin Ty Vincents wedding. Doing what he does best, this good-time fella keeps his cousins and friends entertained and one eye on the bartender - the beautiful Kylee Steele.

Kylee is all that Quinn is not. She's a hardworking single mother who knows what her life is about. She's hardworking, has dreams, and is not about to let her intense attraction to Quinn alter her course.

I stand and cheer every time I read a book where the heroine is NOT a damsel in distress. I love romance novels in general, but when we meet a character that we would respect in real life, that is a treat!

Consequently, Quinn has to work very hard to get Kylee to admit his existence, let alone get a kiss. In her strength Quinn finds out who he is able to be... and this happens in real life too.

Great book, can't wait to read part three in the series.

Keeping Kylee (Texas boys Falling series)
As we all know Quinn and Tory broke up(yeah!), that leaves Quinn single and on the market again. Can Tory leave it like that? Kylee, a mom to three year old Gabby is bar tending the wedding(she works for Sam)to pay for college, she's going to be a physiologist. She works very hard to give Gabby a descent life, pay for school and her apartment she shares with Angie, her best friend. Quinn finds Kylee very attractive, big boobs, blonde hair and a rockin body. She can't believe he's flirting with her, their from different worlds. TY tells him to leave her alone, she's not for him, that only puts fuel on the fire for Quinn. Kylee knows of Quinn and his life style and really doesn't want anything to do with him. She's been working so much, she hasn't had time to think about men. Kylee has been hurt in the past and has a child. Quinn has secrets of his own. Their from two different worlds, they sizzle together. Quinn gets Sam to let Kylee bartend for a weekend party he's throwing for TY in honor of his new position at his company. All Quinn's friends including Tory will be there. Will Kylee agree to work it? You must read this second book in this series to find all this out. Jan never disappoints! Well written and a Texas story for the romantic side of you.

As always happens with Jan Romes stories, the moment I found out Keeping Kylee was out I snatched it up and dug into the story of Quinn Randal. Having met him in Married to Maggie, the first in the Texas Boys Falling Fast series, I really hoped Tori would find a new place to hang her snobby hat! I was never happier on page two of a book in my life! Quinn hasn't changed either he's still an egotistical, self serving Daddy's boy who gets what he wants no matter what. Except what he wants this time can't be bought.

Kylee Steels is a full time bartender, part time student, and single mom kind of woman and getting involved with an egotistical daddy’s boy was out of the question, even if he was as hot as Quinn Randal. Her reasons for avoiding men might be a bit melodramatic, but being abandoned does that to a person.

When Quinn makes an offer Kylee can't refuse his intentions are not honorable and he'll stop at nothing to keep Kylee.

Written in Jan Rome's usual witty, quick, upbeat with a side of serious way, Keeping Kylee is another five star read that will occupy your heart and keep you up past your bedtime, just to see if Quinn, Kylee and little Gabbi get that HEA.

My review

I just finished reading this book by Jan Romes. I found this one to be a delightful contemporary romance with fun and engaging characters. This is the second of Romes' books I've read, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the narrative needs quite a few line edits. If the author wishes, I will inform her of what I have caught. This book is truly a great romance read, but I did expect a higher quality galley grammar wise. Four stars!

Loving Jan's Texas Boys

Keeping Kylee is a sexy romance. From the moment Quinn and Kylee meet, there is attraction, and the heat is real. While rooting for the couple, Gabbi steels your heart without any effort. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Jan Romes has done it again!
What do you look for in a romance: fun and witty dialogue, unique characters, real life situations? They're all here. Two women, one man. One is engaged to him, sort of. The other craves him, sort of. Can either of them convince him that marriage isn't really like being thrown in with a group of great whites?
