Whether you’re a leader or not, this book has something for you. As the author said, he’s learned from good and bad leaders. He covers some of the standard stuff, like communication and body language, and he does it well. What really amazed me was some of the topics I haven’t encountered in leadership books before, like the power of storytelling to create a better bond and teamwork. He also shares the “secret language” of tonality and metaphors in communication to ensure your audience really understands your message. He also covers questions you should ask frequently of your team (great communication can solve many problems, but it has to be two-way), and in fact solving problems together can build great teams. Finally, he discusses “gamification”… or how to bring fun into the workplace and boost productivity. Highly recommend!!!
Just finished "How to Talk to Anyone and Lead with Impact" and wow, i was surprised. My favourite genre is normally motivational type books, but sometimes they can get repetitive. However this was not the case with this title. It's not just about talking, but true communication. I especially loved the real-world stories, like the tech start-up success, which totally showcased the magic of effective storytelling. The author even shares a personal misstep, driving home the importance of brevity (and giving me a good laugh). It’s filled with tools and tips to hone your leadership through communication. I recommend if you are in a managerial/leader role and are looking for some motivation.
Great Book With Excellent Examples of How to Communicate As a Leader
I think that anyone that wants to work in a leadership position in any area at all, should read this book prior to taking on a leadership position. I wish that this book had been out prior to my taking my very first position as a leader. I would’ve been much more effective and impactful as a leader. Companies would do well to purchase this book and use it to train their leadership. Great Read. Highly recommend.
Emphasizes the importance of connections and how to make them
I especially appreciated his discussion about the importance of storytelling. Having navigated diverse roles as a leader and as a team member, I've experienced firsthand the importance of storytelling in making genuine connections, so the emphasis really resonated with me. It's obvious he's lived the experience of feeling like a failure to becoming a successful leader and I'm looking forward to implementing some of his ideas with my team
I found this book superficial, full of clichés, and lacking in useful examples. There were genuinely cringy parts, such as the section on using rhyme and metaphors in order to "be captivating", and the plea to the reader to leave a good review of the book in order to "inspire other leaders". There are som many better books on leadership out there. For new managers, I recommend "The Making of a Manager" by Julie Zhou.
Explores skills to develop leadership skills including effective communication, body language, goal setting, the art of storytelling, making the workplace fun, and more. Competent leaders build teams that inspire high productivity and retention. Good read for those leading a team and training others.
"How to Talk to Anyone and Lead with Impact" offers a practical guide to transformational leadership and persuasive communication. The book is rich with strategies to inspire and motivate teams, ensuring peak performance. It's an essential read for those looking to become the inspiring leader that people truly want to follow.
I had a very good leader in one of my business and I just love the style that he lead but through all the books I read, I didn’t give me enough information. This book covers all the points I saw in that leader. Highly recommended this book!
