The year is 2284 and wars are endemic across Coalition Space.
Matthew Campbell was a fisherman before the Coalition arrived. All he had to worry about was bringing in the day’s catch. Now he is in the middle of a war that has already killed tens of thousands.
Matthew makes all the wrong people angry and he finds himself in a "prime" spot on the frontlines.
...Without any traditional military training.
It seems that everything he learned in his tiny fishing village and from his time on a fishing boat will have to be enough to keep him alive. The question is, will that be enough?
No one thought of this alien invasion scenario. The Coalition figured the only possible invasion would come from the Alexandrian Republic, not somewhere far beyond the reaches of the Milky Way. Will these galactic invaders prevail, or will humanity stand its ground?
Join Matthew as he fights to save Allegra!

Caleb Fast is the author of a growing collection of Science Fiction titles. His series The Battle for Allegra is his most popular by far, and is the focus of most of his efforts of late. His flagship series, The Limit of Infinity is still growing as well, as is its following. He enjoys writing on a range of science fiction subjects, and can't go too long without writing some sort of battle. However, Caleb does a lot more than writing. He also enjoys going on long hikes, long drives, and is a devout bookworm. In addition to all of that, Caleb runs his own antique bookstore and a few other gigs too.
Caleb currently resides in the Pacific Northwest, just outside of Portland, Oregon.

If this was a show, I'd binge it. I'm hoping to read more of this series. This first episode had a great set up and I'm excited to see where Caleb Fast goes next.
This author needs to flesh out his storyline some more. Fill in the blanks like what kind of fighting he has done and what is driving him to do what he does. The characters were decently defined, but some back story on them would be better. Overall, this is a decent start for this author and I liked the novel.
Received as a review copy, this is an honest review. Mathew's quiet life in his small village change the day soldiers come to conscript whoever they find. Standing up to the harassment of a friend gets Mathew in trouble- becoming a front line soldier ing the war of Allegra. Mathew may have once wanted to be a pilot but what he could endure will alter that desire. A fun, quick read.
(Yes, I'm the author) The Battle for Allegra is the first episode in a brand new side-series that I am adding to my universe of books! If you like alien invasions, sci-fi military action, and stories you can read in under an hour, then this is the perfect book for you!
Our hero, Matthew, is tired of working for his father as a fisherman and wants a change. He didn't think he'd be forced off his home planet to fight in a war with all the other young men and women from his community. It doesn't pay to tick off the commanding officer before you even board the space vessel.
It turns out all the fighting on his father's boat might help keep him alive a day or two. Read now and find out what's going on.
intrigued. one of them big words i'm averse to, but it fits. reads a bit like anime to me/another term I dislike. felt like a slow starter to me, just like a lot of anime, but by the end of first chapter I was definitely curious, hellabrutal. wondered if it was gratuitous, so had to read further. aspects felt borrowed, but not totally off-putting, making fer n interesting recipe. managed to keep my attention in spite of pacing/descriptive to a fault. by the end it turns out to be just beginning, but it is episode one so... so by then i'm thinking this looks worth a look. like the first episode of what I like to call Japanimation, n i'd definitely watch again if i'm intrigued
The way Caleb Fast writes is captivating from the beginning and you just want to keep reading and reading and not stop. It is both descriptive and has great world building (important for a fantasy) but also is interesting and has mystery/suspense throughout so that you aren't bored (you can tell there's more to the story than we know). I felt so bad toward the end that it was over I just wanted more. I received this novel through bookfunnel and this is a true and honest review
Wow, I loved this book even more than Caleb Fast's other series! I think these books may be the prequels to his other series, The Limit of Infinity, but I'm not sure. Either way, I really enjoyed Matthew's character.
I really had my head set on not liking this book because I a way it's a space story. Well, I actually loved the story even though I told my head not to. It's actually a really fun read. What I like about it is, not all the characters are adults. The author does use teenagers in this story that is what really appealed to me. Also kids fighting, ok it's a bad thing but I love it when a kid has to stand up for himself one way or another. This book has everything but romance which I totally did not expect. I loved this story because it's not always about afults. If you saw Hunger Games, which I have not, or even the Maze Runner, which I have, just the first movie, I think you will agree with me. This book is not all action but truth be told, it's a great read for anyone even zteens.
I have received a free copy of the book and is voluntarily writing a review
A little disjointed. Going from a fishing/sailing ship. To a machine shop Seeing his girl tortured. To not kicking the guys ass who done it. To him fighting all the big guys and winning there is to much inconsistency. Also there needs to be more story on the training. So far there's none at all. To me it needs work.
The book started with a typical son wants more to life, father wants son to take over family business. The starship with a third world view of others right to make choices for their own future. It seemed way too short. Definitely need the next installment.
The book has a power packed list of protagonists - Matthew & James are memorable. An exciting climax, leading to a new adventure for sure. Well done Caleb Fast. 4 Stars
No hanging about with this one 😁 violence more or less from the getwgo and if thats all the training the mudders get then God help them. Will try to find book two shortly
A great start, I liked the premise and the character of Matthew. A really promising beginning . The story is very well written. I have bought the next few instalments and look forward to seeing how things progress.
